Happiness.

The world was in a current peace. Well as peaceful as peace could get in this world. No wars were transpiring and each country that shared this Earth seemed to co-exist rather peacefully. Technology was on the mind set for every country. First things first, space here we come. Scientists from around the world were to collaborate on the perfect vessel of space travel. Japan introduced its top scientist Tabane Shinonono and her brilliant invention. The IS…

Tension.

A Mech that powerful could only be piloted by Women? Women of the world suddenly got a rather large boost of importance. Not to mention an ego boost. They replaced men from their posts and tool control of major branches of corporations. Not to mention the Military. Generals immediately took this as a signing grace and then just like that the manufacturing of IS's began. But what the hell? You gave jobs to these women who were half as qualified as the men who worked before them. Why? Because they could pilot war machines. They would never forgive these girls. The first time the line between the genders started to separate…

Hatred.

Crimes increased. The police force in each country was re-modeled and re-mastered with women with their own personal IS's. Men were slowly losing their ground of importance in the world. Women started to believe that they were the master Gender. That men should be at their knees and doing whatever they wish. Simple arguments or fights would turn into jail time for the men that were involved, the women always getting out of it. The police force was now Gender discriminating. Surely the commissioners of the police forces would do something about it.

Anger.

What!? The Commissioners are all women as well. They agree with what is happening? But I'm sure the mayor would do something to stop this shit. No. The mayor is dead? But how what happened? Car accident? If that is true then who is the replacement? It's impossible! Another women replacement but what is her view on things? Something's not right. Laws are cracking down? Men aren't allowed out after a certain time. We are required to have a female escort. Our lives won't be controlled by iron Mechs. We have to revolt. Not all women are like the bitches who pilot the IS. Some agree that each gender should be equal. The leaders of each city didn't want to hear it. It was worldwide not many knew that but almost every town in major countries were sporting the same problem. You know what, it doesn't matter. Fuck it! There is no way the leaders of each country will let this continue for much longer…

Panic.

No more. Men filled the streets and started to cause a riot. Houses were burned, women with IS units were punished and it all led to town hall. By the time the group got there a regular riot protection force was waiting. We could handle them. They charged at the front line. Riot shields went up. Blocking the way to the Mayor. Gas was fired. That didn't hold the men back long. They continued. Bats were swung, shields were jumped and a revolter got his hand on a gas gun. The so called police were being pushed back. The IS force came. Several were severely injured. The men were ordered back to their homes. Or face charges. Possibly death. Outnumbered, they listened. For now, soon everything would change. One day 2 weeks later a red flare was shot into the sky in the middle of the city…

War.

Bodies filled the streets. Blood was spilling off of the streets and into the sewers or simply forming puddles. The leaders of almost every country were dead. Anything could happen now. Men were under attack and even the woman that tried to save them were simply pushed aside. Watching as the IS pilots brutally murdered the men. The men fought back with everything they got. The respective Armies were the first to be wiped out. Women in their ranks turned against them and blew through them with ease. Men without training took up arms. But not all. Those who surrendered were hog tied, like animals. Taken to respective camps to be slaves. Too many are dying at once. We have to retreat! They're coming from all directions! Stand strong! It's all over…

Aftermath.

It was a ruin. Practically the definition of a ruin. Not a single soul was left alive. The nuclear warhead made sure of that. That town was too much of a hassle to deal with. Instead kill all occupants. It's just one town. One town that had a population of 50,000. But they brought it on them. Any sort of rebellious attempt and this is the price. Surely this would set an example. Men are not the victors here. The Goddesses ruled with an iron fist. Why not? With their power they had nothing to fear…

BREAK!

Chifuyu's eyes flew open

No light could be found. Hours had passed but she didn't care. If no word would come until morning then sleep wouldn't be needed. She would wait. Wait to hear his condition. Even if it took days. Even if it took weeks. Sleep was only a commodity, it wasn't needed as badly as people said. Back during the days of school studying took the list above sleep. And only one thing topped the list above studying. Ichika.

Ichika's safety was her top priority ever since her parents died years ago. Chifuyu was only in high school when the accident happened and the thought of a high school girl taking care of a small child was; well frightening.

What did she know about taking care of kids? Cleaning up after herself was already a challenge. Seeing as though Chifuyu would usually forget to do it herself. Her room would usually consist of clothes thrown around every inch and boxes of various food covering the desk she used to complete her school work on. It wasn't her fault she was busy. In fact the way she looked at it a person with a messy room showed how hard working they were.

Ichika disagreed. This young boy that had to grow up a lot faster and take care of their house. He was the man of the house now and getting the chance to help out his one and only Nee-san made him even happier.

Learning how to cook and clean made Chifuyu really question if this Ichika was the same little boy she remembered. Well that thought didn't last long because a few nights later after enjoying the delicious curry dinner, Chifuyu had discovered a gift that god gave her little brother.

His fingers were like magic. The massages he gave were something to truly die for. Chifuyu just wanted nothing more than to lie down and die. The nervousness hidden beneath her exterior melted away. Right then and there Chifuyu truly felt relaxed for the first time.

Another tear slowly rolled down Chifuyu's cheek. Even though he was at a tender age, Ichika always did whatever he could to make sure she was happy. Ichika is possibly the strongest man she will ever meet in her lifetime. However long her lifetime will be in this war.

Now wasn't any different. Ichika would pull through. He wouldn't be killed like this, not by getting hit by a cheap shot. Chifuyu kept telling herself that over and over again. The silence of the waiting room she was sitting in did not help. The metal box of a room had about two dozen chairs, leaning against the cold walls. A single white painted door was to her left and to her right was the door.

That door was the only door in the entire Headquarters that had something different. For some stupid reason all the doors were painted white. 'Wow' Chifuyu thought to herself 'Keep me in a dark room for a few hours and I start to talk about paint on doors'. Keeping on track now the door she was staring at led to the main infirmary room. Where the surgeries took place. The Red Cross was painted in the middle and just as she was about to talk about its ridiculousness it disappeared.

The Red Cross door slid open and out walked the main surgeon. His blue doctor scrubs had an astounding amount of blood on it. Too much for Chifuyu's taste. Not that she didn't mind blood but it was probably the life juices of her brother.

Chifuyu stood up and walked closer, her heart beating faster with each step. "Savior 2" the doctor greeted as he took the mask off of his mouth and wiped a stray drop of sweat from his brow. The doctor's short blonde hair was holding most of the sweat at bay from getting into his brown eyes. One of the drops made its way into his left eye any way. He said something Chifuyu couldn't quite understand because it was in French.

Chifuyu bowed in respect when she heard her code name. She was a big fan of the code name and everything but at times like this she wished people would call her by her real name. It wasn't her choice to make at this time and because of this only a few people in the Resistance knew her and Ichika's true names.

"How is he?" Chifuyu gripped her hands together, feeling the clamminess of her palms.

"4 cracked ribs, punctured left lung, multiple shrapnel wounds and throw in the fact that 25 percent of his body has third degree burns." Chifuyu could barely keep her emotions in check. She hated to cry in front of Ichika and the last thing she would ever want was the rumor of Savior 2 crying to spread around Headquarters. "All in all Savior 1 is going to make a full recovery."

The doctor smiled. Chifuyu felt her heart glue itself back into one piece and with a new found hope walked towards the door to Ichika's bed. Suddenly the door closed itself just as she was about to enter and the signature locking mechanism sounded. "I'm sorry Savior 2 but he is not yet awake and I can tell that just by looking at you-"

Chifuyu turned and without a single word made for the exit. "I understand what you're telling me. I'll be back early in the morning to check on him". The Doctor watched in shock as Savior 2 walked out of the infirmary. Usually it was like trying to argue with a rock. Your point might get across but most of the time the rock doesn't care and simply rolls over you.

This time he won. Savior 2 needed to sleep especially after the last encounter.

Chifuyu walked slowly through the dimly lit metal walls. The corridors had dozens of doors and in each a family was housed. The families ranged wide from a single man to the largest family which was a family of 6. All of them survivors. All of them witnessed that day 6 months ago. Each of them carrying a different story.

Chifuyu came to an intersection and took a right. She would get some sort of food before going to bed. Even though it was about 1 in the morning the cafeteria was open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 'Maybe they have some curry' Chifuyu felt her taste buds water in anticipation.

The large door leading to the mess hall was in sight. That meant Chifuyu's favorite door was fast approaching. Another minute of walking and sure enough like every day drawings were taped to one of the apartment rooms. Three drawings were taped today and with a genuine smile Chifuyu examined each.

The drawing on top depicted about 6 or 7 kids. They stood next to each other and were all laughing while looking into the sky. A red ball was in mid-air right next to the sun of course. Chifuyu laughed; it looked as though the Academy kids are having a blast during recess.

The second drawing below that was of two people. They were floating in mid-air above the yellow grass and holding hands. The person on the left was a man and on the right was a women. Parts of their body were colored black and blue, it looked like armor. Were those pictures of IS? Then it hit Chifuyu, it was a picture of her and Ichika. In big blue crayon was 'Savior 1' above Ichika's head and in pink crayon was 'Savior 2' above her head. That should have stuck out to her but whatever, the drawing was very nice. For a few reasons of course, Chifuyu blushed for a second.

Then the last picture. Chifuyu felt her heart beat faster. She took a few steps backwards and continued to stare at the picture in front of her. 10 bodies laid down on the pavement. Red crayon was scribbled around them and red X's were in the place of where the eyes should be. Floating above them were more people in IS's and they were sporting mean expressions. Black triangles were in the hands of the IS pilots and Chifuyu could only guess that they were guns.

Chifuyu felt the coldness return to her heart. Why did everything turn out like this? Couldn't people see this was stupid?

A sudden warmth hit Chifuyu's back. She turned around and saw bright orange flames towards the end of a hallway. Small laughter followed and then the clinking of glasses. The only thing down that hall is an abandoned training ground.

She curiously started to venture forward. The hall turned into an opening and Chifuyu could clearly hear voices. She backed up into the wall and slowly peeked her head out. The small training area was at first used for the children. They were being taught the basics of attacking an IS. The teachers focusing heavily on how to properly hold a weapon and how to properly defend against an IS attack. Basically they were being trained as kid soldiers.

It was war time and anything to throw the enemy off was accepted. Unfortunately the parents of those children didn't see it the same way as the trained officers. The training was canceled and the age limit for handling such weaponry was set at 15. Due to this all training exercises were moved to the main grounds. This small arena was too small and thus closed down.

The only thing it served as anymore was a place for people to get some quiet time. It was also used as a hiding place for guards and soldiers. The kind of people that would rather take a mid-day nap then complete their daily duties.

In the middle of the Arena sat a medium sized camp fire. It was crackling with life as a stick was lying above it. Three fish were impaled on the stick. The skin and meat was burning to such a perfection that an over whelming aroma was wafting through the air. Chifuyu felt her stomach growl and her mouth water. Chifuyu stared at the nutritious food for a few more seconds before she shook her head. 'Stop messing around and listen' she scolded herself.

Chifuyu looked at three men that sat around the make shift fire. On the right was none other than Admiral Miller. The man in charge of the entire fleet in the southern region. On the left was Captain Yugami. The Captain of the U.S.S McCampbell, the ship she and Ichika saved earlier today. Finally the person in the middle was…

Actually she had no idea. He looked like a regular sailor from the fleet. He had no look of importance so Chifuyu mentally threw that man to the side. "I can't believe it". The man who she did not know spoke perfect English. Maybe he is from the U.K or the United States? "You were there when it happened. Both of you."

Yugami nodded as he played around with the fire in front of him, using one of the burnt sticks from the side. "I was docked near Tokyo when the red flare was fired. I remember it every day. Every time I wake up I hear the screams of innocent people. I can also still feel the heat to this day, that heat that ended so many lives."

Miller started to slowly rotate the late night snack as Yugami finished up with his story. "I too was docked" Miller picked up one of the fishes and gave it a little bite. The ice cold water was still covering the food so he placed it back over the fire. "In New York City's harbor. I was scolding some knuckleheads about fighting on my ship when that fucking red flare was shot into the sky".

"I'm sorry. Most of us guys were out on patrol in open waters when everything happened. Still that didn't mean we got any special treatment. Almost all of the women on our Carrier turned on us. We sustained heavy casualties before meeting up with friendlies."

"But you" the sailor turned fully to Yugami. "You were at ground zero. The first city, the first country. Where everything began, in Japan. I'm sorry to say it but Japan is nothing but a wasteland now. What happened where you were?"

Yugami's eyes did not meet the sailors but instead the two orbs went to the fire. Chifuyu watched one of the people from her home land and she too found pain enter her heart. Yugami then heard it, the ringing in his ears. The screaming, the thunder and the explosion.

"Alright then. I will tell you. About the day my country and my life ended".

End Chapter.
