A/N: Here is chapter 3. I hope you enjoy and oh reviews would be nice. A good amount of people have read this. So why not review? I'm a big boy if it is something to make me feel bad then go right ahead. But if it is something to help me make the story better for your enjoyment then absolutely leave something. Do it already!
Side Note: What the fuck! I'm sorry everyone I have no idea why all that text was there. While I was uploading the document these extra words were not here. Anyway sorry.
'Day Zero'. December 6 20XX, 13:45 hours. Aegis Class Destroyer; JDS Kongo. Stationed at Yokosuka Naval Base. 40 miles south of Tokyo.
The tension was thick in the mid-afternoon air. Per usual the docks were calm and peaceful. It was a benefit seeing as though the Kongo was the only ship docked today. Shore time was rather limited this day in age so the crew that made sure to keep this Destroyer in 'tip top' shape. Were almost all off the metal contraption. Not today though.
Captain Yugami took a small nibble of his lunch and savored the warm soup. His past nervousness seamed to melt away but it quickly returned a few seconds later. He threw the spoon back into the bowl a little more forcefully then needed.
The silence was killing him. The mess hall was empty. Yugami knew they were all gathered around the closest television. Watching the live footage of what was happening. 40 miles to the North of here was Japan's shining city, Tokyo. Well after the recent events calling it the shining city was completely ridiculous. Riots broke out and it looked that more than half of the occupants in Tokyo were a part of it.
Shops were burned down, houses following in suite. So much damage was being caused. The amount of damage it took to get Military support for the local police departments. The threat of death certainly stemmed a few of them but it also seemed to fuel the more determined ones. For Yugami it was easy to tell why these men were rioting in the city
Almost every city in Japan was the same. Laws against the men were a little too forceful Yugami had to admit. Those laws didn't go against him because of his status in the Navy but it did for all of the civilians. Curfews, female escorts and jail time for men with insufficient evidence against them. It was all uncalled for. It wasn't just the civilians living in the city that were experiencing some hostilities from each Gender. In each military branch fights were breaking out between men and woman. Telling each other off and blaming the other gender for what was happening around the world with these riots.
Yugami's ship wasn't kept out of that either. The tension in the air between men and woman on this ship was large. People would stare at each other in hatred and annoyance. So far only 1 fight had broken out and lasted for 5 or so minutes before being broken up. One of his top men and of course he had to be his best friend got in a disagreement with one of the top IS pilots on board. Needless to say an IS was taken out during the skirmish and a lot damage was done to cargo bay.
Yugami didn't take any sides of course and sent both the IS pilot and his friend to the brig for a week to 'think' about their actions. It was really to calm the two down. That didn't help his figure though. Men were coming out and saying that he was betraying their gender. While the woman on board said that he was like every other guy on board, always blaming the woman for it. 'What a load of horsecrap'.
Saying that stuff out loud would definitely get him in a heap of trouble with his superiors. In hindsight he was supposed to be with the Government on this one. Stopping the rioting and sending these people to either jail or back home. Although, if he found himself not in any branch of the Military then it would be almost certain that Yugami too would be out there. Fighting for things to go back to normal. Fighting for the peace to return to this world and for both genders of the world to return in harmony.
Yugami chuckled slightly and looked up. A 30 inch TV hung from the corner of the ceiling. Live coverage of the destruction was streaming from a high vantage point, most likely a news copter. About 100 hundred rioters were standing their ground on a long street. Waving multiple blunt weapons in the air as probably 200 riot police slowly walked toward them. 2 front lines of about 75 had protective riot shields, behind them the rest of the officers were wielding either stun batons or regular collapsible batons. All of them though were wearing protective helmets and chest plates. The rioters were sporting whatever they threw on that morning and all of them wore black bandannas that covered their mouths.
The front line of the police force was about 40 meters away when the rioters charged. The Shield line dug down into the ground and waited. Just as Yugami thought they were going to simply charge into the shields, the real plan emerged.
10 meters away. 12 Molotov Cocktails emerged from the ranks of the rioters. The flaming bottles all successfully made contact with the police forces front line. The flames licked against the shields and the immense heat made a few of the first responders cower back slightly. The riot shields slightly angled up to stop the flames from burning the holders. That was what the rioters wanted all along.
Dozens jumped up and landed on the shield before again jumping completely over them, using the riot shield as leverage. The rioters successfully infiltrated the police ranks and began to loosely swing around their blunt weapons. Several officers dropping to the ground from blunt force trauma before anyone realized what had actually took place.
Yugami pressed the off button on the controller next to him. Shutting the TV off just as the police force was about to strike back, not wanting to watch anymore needless violence. At the rate this was going Tokyo would be completely destroyed.
This was going on around the world! Yugami was at a loss when he heard the news. What was the world coming to? All of this destruction and damage. Was it worth it?
"Excuse me Captain".
Yugami came out of thought and glanced to the door. A female Corporal stood at attention in the threshold of the door. Her silver hair was in a ponytail with black clothing to match her eyes. The jeans and bullet resistant T-shirt gave away that she was a part of the security detail on board the Kongo.
"You have been called to the bridge, the Admiral wishes to speak with you".
"Of course" Yugami smiled. He caught a glimpse of her hip. A holster with the standard issue Type 26 revolver sitting inside. The only thing wrong with this picture was the holster was not buttoned shut, it was open. Something wasn't right. "Thank you for coming down here to tell me Corporal. I will make my way to the bridge now".
"I'll accompany you sir". Yes, something is not right. Her hand is slightly twitching.
Play this one carefully. "Ok then Corporal, let's be on our way". Yugami walked past her and into the hall. "It's best not to keep the Admiral waiting."
The walk was silent as the two trudged from the cafeteria located in the front of the ship. To the stairs that would lead them to the bridge, which were located more towards the back. Yugami led the duo; giving off no eerie vibe for the Corporal to pick up on. He didn't exactly know what this Corpsmen wanted but it didn't look good. Yugami actually commanded his fingers down a little low to feel the warm leather of the holster that held his Officer issued Type 14 Nambu pistol. His finger twitched a little and the cool metal glided against his index finger. Yugami didn't want to use this if this Female Corporal was going to do what he thinks she is going to do.
'No'. Yugami's fingers retracted as his conscious seemed to talk to him.'This Woman is part of the Navy. She is one of you. There is no way you are going to shoot her. I have to believe that this all just a big misunderstanding.'
The knife splitting silence was broken when several ringing's sounded off. Yugami looked at the source of the noise, his watch. It was now 14:00 hours. A red tint caught him in the left eye. To his left was a window. Even though Tokyo was 40 miles away there were no obstacles blocking his view of the large city. In the skyline above Tokyo was a small red spot. "Is that a flare?" Yugami asked himself out loud as the red cloud started to slowly fall back down to the ground.
The sound of a bullet entering the chamber made Yugami take quick action. The Japanese Captain quickly turned and saw the female Corporal aiming her revolver at his face. With his right hand he pushed the Corporals arm away from him just in time. Three shots were discharged as the 9mm bullets made dents into the wall behind him.
The Female Corporal was too shocked by her superiors speed to see his left fist coming right at her face. It made contact with her nose. A loud crack was heard as the Corporal stumbled backwards into the steel wall. Blood rushed out of her nose and without realizing it she dropped the smoking revolver onto the ground. Using both of her hands to try and stop the bleeding, moaning in pain from the injury. Yugami opened his holster and took out his pistol. He needed to ask this one some questions.
"FREEZE!" Yugami looked to the origin of the command. Two fully armored and heavily armed female security officers stood in the threshold of the door. Without any hesitation they aimed their Howa Type 89 Assault rifles, the target, their Captains forehead. Yugami jumped behind the space between the door and the wall just as the two opened fire. 5.56x45mm NATO rounds surrounded the area where he once stood as sparks flew from the bullets contact of the steel wall.
Pools of sweat was coming off Yugami. Even though he commands a Destroyer, Yugami had never, ever, been in any sort of gun fight. I mean he practiced at the range all the time during Basic training but nothing ever compared to the real deal. He could feel the heat of the bullets passing by him. Even with all the firing, Yugami felt he could hear the sounds of the bullet casings hitting the ground.
His sweaty palms continued to fiddle with his weapon. Hands were shaking slightly. Yugami continued to breathe regularly and it seemed to calming him down little by little. He could do it. He could return fire. Right?
But these two are allies. Even if they are doing what they are doing, he remembers those two. Yue and Yuri. The twins of the Destroyer. They did everything together. Ate together. Took the same shifts during the night. The two were inseparable, no matter what they stood by each other's side. In fact those two were considered the most loyal to him, listening to his orders and executing perfectly. If he was asked to pick two people out from his ship that would never betray him it would've been these two.
The bullets stopped firing. They were both reloading. It's now or never. "Gomen'nasai".
Yugami rounded the corner and opened fire. Pulling the trigger 8 times before the 'clicking' sound of empty was heard. Both assailants were laying on the ground motionless. Yugami waited a few seconds until the realization of what he did kicked in, the gun hit the floor.
He ran forward, not caring about that these two tried to kill him. Yugami felt relief when one of the girl's bodies started to move slightly. It was Yuri, the oldest twin. She was on her left side, wiggling slightly. Two bullet holes were on her chest, while a 3rd was in the stomach and a 4th was on the left thigh. Her black security armor was coated in blood, while her eyes were only looking at one thing.
"Yue-"she reached out to her beloved sister and rested her outstretched hand on her dead sister's chest. Yugami did not dare to say a word as he watched the heart breaking scene before him. Yuri started to cry as her heart filled with incredible amounts of dread. A single tear rolled down her dirty cheek, ending up on the bloody floor.
"Captain Yugami!" 4 more security officers were running towards him from an intersecting hallway. Yugami was slightly on edge. He was already attacked by 3 of his own security officers, were these 4 going to do the same? "You'll pay-"
Yugami looked back down at the injured twin just as he saw a pin in between her fingers."Grenade! Grenade! Hit the Deck!"
The respected Captain ran down the hall he came from after yelling out the warning. Yugami fell forward as the heat consumed his back forcing him to the ground. His head connected to the ground a little forcefully, causing a slight daze. Alarms were sounding off around him, echoing, while flashing red lights filled his vision. A headache was something he did not need at the moment. Looking back all he saw was fire with parts of the ceiling collapsed around the area he was standing in.
Why was this happening? Just listening to the surroundings it was easy to hear the gunfire coming from around his ship. Did it have anything to do with that red flare? There was no distinguished proof but the timing seemed less and less coincidental.
It didn't matter right now. The only thing that mattered was stopping the fighting in his ship. The question was hos was he going to stop it? An even better question was, who is the enemy? So far it seemed to be anyone in the security team. But those last 4 security officers didn't seem to want to attack him.
'Oh shit'. Yugami thought as he looked back at the raging fire. Hopefully those 4 got far enough away from the blast. If it weren't for the fire blocking his path he would've checked on them. Just then the crackling of the P.A system stopped his thoughts.
"Warning" it was the ships notification, a computer that took on the voice of a young woman. "Unauthorized IS deployment in hangar. Small arms fire reported in sections 1, 3, 7 and 9. All Security Detachments are too report to their designated areas and await further orders."
IS deployment!? There's no way the fighting would get this real. Are the women in those IS trying to kill him along with others or are they trying to stop what's going on. Either way there was only one way to stop this madness. He needed to get to the bridge.
(Scene Break)
Yugami felt the fire warm his face as he enjoyed his dinner with his friends. He felt blood rushing to his head as he recalled that horrid day. He tried to continue with his story but found utter hesitation at continuing. Miller caught on and decided to take over from there, having already heard the story. "Long story short Private" he got the third man's attention. "Captain Yugami was the only survivor on his Destroyer. The IS pilots fired off two Nuclear War Heads at Tokyo and decimated everyone inside the city limits."
The Private's eyes widened and looked back at Yugami. The Japanese Captain didn't return eye contact and continued to let the warmth of the fire on his face. Ever since that day 6 months ago the feeling of heat always put him in a sort of panic attack. He felt the heat from the grenade and from the nuclear war head. For some reason anything hot always reminded him of that day. Reminding him of his broken life.
Chifuyu felt nothing but hatred for the Women that committed these crimes. So many innocent people were killed by Nukes in her homeland. Somewhere down the line the IS pilots that controlled various towns in Japan decided that taking over Japan would be too troublesome. The Missiles came and they came in force.
Pushing herself off of the cool wall Chifuyu no longer felt hungry. She walked back to her room in silence. The only things on her mind were the drawing, Captain Yugami and Ichika.
(Scene Break)
The quick sound of a door sliding open startled Chifuyu from her sleep. With resilient speed the highly trained IS pilot reached under her pillow and pulled out a .44 Magnum, aiming it at the door. "I am sorry. I wasn't aware you were still asleep Savior 2."
Chifuyu quickly lowered her weapon before throwing her covers off of her and jumping out of bed. "Admiral Miller, Sir!"
"At ease". Chifuyu stopped saluting the man before her. "I am glad to hear that Savior 1 will be making a full recovery". Chifuyu merely nodded along with the high ranking official and continued to stare at him. Usually when the Admiral made morning visits like this it meant that there was a new mission. Perfect timing for Ichika to get banged up, it looked like she would be teaming up with Savior 3 for this one. No way would Ichika be physically ready.
"I have a mission and I'm warning you right now Savior 2. This one will be the hardest mission you may ever receive while serving in this war, for however it lasts." Miller removed his hands from behind his back and presented a folder. Chifuyu accepted it and started to flip through the pages of the ten page packet. It was a lot easier to just speed read through something and wait later to listen more intently to the de-briefing.
Just as she was about to close the page, it caught her eye. A name she hadn't seen or spoken of in 4 months. Chifuyu looked back up at the Admiral Miller only to see him nod. "It's right Savior 2. After 4 months we have finally located where 'The Brain' is being held up".
A/N: sorry for the kind of quick chapter. I am now getting into one of the main story arcs so I might have rushed through this chapter a little fast. Don't worry about the Yugami story by the way. It was just too painful for him to retell more of it at the time. More of what happened that day will appear in parts in different chapters. Anyway review, favorite or follow. Do what you like!
