As The World Keeps Turning
Chapter 18
Karma's POV
A few weeks pass by before I really start to believe that Amy is getting over Reagan. Up until now, she's just been so quiet, distant, like she's afraid to say the wrong thing. I hate seeing her like that. Her eyes just looked so sad, and it hurt me to see her hurting. It's Friday again and Amy and I are planning to have our usual girls night, but what she doesn't know is that I'm planning to mix it up a little bit this time.
After school, I meet her at her locker and pull her right into a hug.
She smiles at me, "Hey Karms."
Her voice is starting to not sound as sad as it was right after the breakup and that gives me hope. "I missed you Ames. Ready for today?"
"Yeah I've been looking forward to it all week."
I loop my arm through hers and we make our way straight to my house. We chat a little on the way back but it's nothing too exciting. To be completely honest, the two of us haven't really even talked lately, it's more like just sitting around with each other and not saying much of anything.
I officially decided that it's time to get Amy out of her little funk. I want my Amy back, so I'm gonna do something about it. When planning our day, I remember the time she took me out on the best date ever. She picked all the things I loved, so that's exactly what I'm going to do for her. Although it's not really a date... I haven't even mentioned anything like that to her in a while. I don't think she even like me anymore anyway, so I don't want to make things weird. It's doesn't really matter what I want anyway.
Amy's POV
These last few weeks have been really rough for me. I feel like I've been stuck in a fog and I'm kinda just trying to get through it. I've accepted the fact that Reagan is gone, I really have. It's just hard because of the way that it ended, but I'll be ok. Karma has been great. We haven't talked all that much but she's been the greatest support system a girl could ask for and I love her for that.
Friday's are my favorite day of the week. I love knowing that I can just go crash at home with my best friend without a care in the world. It's great to just be able to watch Netflix more than is healthy, eat too much, and cuddle with your best friend and it won't be weird at all. But what is a little weird is where exactly Karma and I's relationship stands. When she looks at me, I think I see love, but I don't know in what way. I figure she doesn't want me anymore anyway, I already didn't choose her when I had the chance.
Karma's POV
When we pull into my driveway, we get right out of the car and Amy goes in to drop her stuff in my room before coming back to join me on the couch.
"So we're gonna go out tonight." I say.
"Wait like, go out go out? Or just go out..
I laugh. "No Amy I'm not bringing you to a dance club don't worry. But yeah we're going out. It's a surprise though. But I promise that you'll like it." I smile big at her.
"Ok I'll take your word for it." She nods.
"Great, we should get going now then." I get up, grab my purse and keys and head straight to the door, and pause to wait for her to follow.
"Ok captain I'm coming, don't worry." She smirks at me and shakes her head.
When we get into the car, she literally asks me "Where are we going" a thousand times. I just keep smiling and shaking me head no, saying that she'll find out soon enough.
When we pull into the parking lot, I'm not even exaggerating when I'm saying that her entire face lit up. I decided to take her to a place where you basically can play with puppies all day. I mean, the goal is they want the puppies to be adopted, but this is good enough. I figured what better way to fix a sad face than a bunch of puppies? Oh and the fact that Amy is puppy crazy helps too.
"Oh my gosh Karma! Is this for real?"
I laugh. "Yes it's real, I figured you might like this."
"I can't wait to go pretend like my parents let me get a puppy yes!"
I roll my eyes at her and smile, getting out of the car. As soon as we get in there, Amy makes a beeline straight to a red and white Siberian husky puppy and I can almost see her heart melting through her chest. I know that's her dream dog, but her mom would never let her have one.
Without saying anything, I get one of the employees to get her the puppy to play with. Needless to say, we were in that store for pretty much two hours. Amy was in puppy heaven and I was just so happy to see that smile on her face. We eventually have to face the fact that neither of us can actually get this puppy, and reluctantly hand him over to the store.
Amy is still high from all the puppy love when we get into the car, chattering on and on about everything she liked about the puppy. She didn't even realize when I pulled into the next parking lot. She stops talking when she sees a sign for "fresh hot donuts" flashing through the windshield.
"Wow you really know how to make me happy don't you Karms." She laughs and hugs me over the console.
"That's my job!"
We buy a dozen of her favorites, and just decide to pick up a pizza on the way back to my house. When we pull into the driveway, she reaches over to take my hand and squeeze it gently.
"Thanks for today Karma, it really cheered me up."
I smile warmly at her. "Anything for you."
Amy's POV
Today was actually fantastic. Karma knew all the right things to do, and I'm just feeling so good right now. We're laying on her bed watching Netflix with an empty pizza box between us just enjoying each others company. I can't help but feel like I should be closer to her so I end up just getting up to go throw the empty box away.
When I come back, I lay on the bed and lean my head on her shoulder.
"Thank you again so much for today."
"It's the least I can to Ames."
I smile and snuggle into her shoulder. "Yeah but you really are amazing and I love you for that." I turn to see her chewing on her lip, obviously thinking about something. I can tell that I'm sending her mixed messages, and after today I know that she still loves me. I knew it every single time I caught her looking at me, it's hard to mistake that look.
Later we both decide that it's probably a good idea to try to get some sleep. I'm laying on the side facing the window, pretending to be asleep by evening my breathing. I feel Karma scoot closer to me and drape her arm lightly over my waist and bury her face in my hair. She feels to warm that close to me. I love it.
To her surprise, I flip over so that we're face to face, and I'm looking her right in the eyes. Hers are filled with the fear that I'm going to be mad, and she looks guilty. She looks like she wants to say something, but before she can, I close the gap between us and kiss her lips.
At first she hesitates, obviously a little surprised, but then she responds and there we are, kissing in her bed. For the first time in forever, I feel complete just by the touch of her lips...
*There it is! I know we all love Karmy kisses, who doesn't? The next chapter is gonna be good ;). See you tomorrow!*
