Max's POV

Seth and I went through the doors of the Italian restaurant, and I glanced around us. The design of the building was a cool, ruined type of theme. There were pieces of the wall wrapping missing, but the colors made the restaurant give off a classy type of vibe.

We went up to the front table. "A table for two," Seth told a redhead.

She smiled and nodded, leading us to a table in the back. A new lady came, and I was guessing she was our waitress. She had short cropped hair, sort of like Alice's.

"My name is Reynolds, and I'll be your waitress today. Here are some menus," she said, handing us the menus. I opened it up and glanced at the foods.

"Could you give us a moment to pick out our food?" Seth asked politely.

"Sure," she said. "Just let me know when you're ready to order." With that, she walked away.

"Alright, what's good?" I asked.

"Well, the Italian Wedding Soup is good, and so is the Soup Del Giorno," Seth suggested.

"Do we have to start with the salads and soups?" I asked. I just wanted to dig right into the pasta and ravioli.

"They serve those first, so I'm just looking at them first. We can still order the appetizers and pastas, but those will come later."

Ah, I see. "Well, then I'll have the Wedding Soup, the Lobster Bisque, some Sausage Tortelloni, and the Spaghettini and Meatballs En Sugo."

"Are you ordering for the both of us?"

"No, this is just for me," I said, looking up at him. "Why?"

"Oh, well I just didn't know that you really ate that much."

"Is there a problem with the bottomless pit I call my stomach?"

He cracked a smile. "No, I like girls who can just eat as much as they want and not care about what others think."

I smiled at him. Seth was just so easy to like. "What will you have?"

"Um, I think I'm probably getting the Pasta Woozie, the Crispy Mozzarella Ravioli, and then some Inslata Mista."

"The waitress is going to think that we're crazy," I said, laughing.

"Or that we're really hungry," he replied, laughing along.

Our food came, with Reynolds eyeing us carefully, and we started talking.

"So, why did you move to Forks? Not that I mind, but Forks isn't exactly the ideal place I'd want to go for a new city," Seth said.

"Well, basically, I used to travel around with a group of my old friends, and then we sort of un-friended, and so then I came to Forks to live with my mom and half-sister, Ella."

"Un-friended?" Seth asked, raising an eyebrow.

I poked at my spaghetti. "Yeah, along with a little falling out with my ex-boyfriend. And then my ex-boyfriend's friend broke up with Ella, so that sort of just added to the list of reasons to leave." I didn't say that they kicked me out. What he doesn't know won't kill him.

"Ouch, that's harsh," he said, sticking some ravioli in his mouth.

"Yeah, well, that's life."

I steered the conversation off of me and more onto Seth's life, since I wasn't quite sure what I should say to Seth about mine.

We finished our food in record time, and then ordered some dessert. Reynolds even asked what we did with all of the food, and we told her we ate it all and she rolled her eyes, laughed, and walked away. I don't think she believed us.

I ordered the Crème Brulee, while Seth ordered the Tre Dolce.

"So what are your old friends doing now?"

I thought. Besides being on the news and scaring the living shit out of me, I really had no clue. "I don't know," I said truthfully. "I don't keep in touch with them actually, since, you know. We didn't part of the best terms."

"Oh," Seth replied. "I think you guys should try to get in touch with each other and not have such a sour relationship."

I normally would have punched the said person in the face and tell them to mind their own business, but since it was Seth, I considered it. I mentally made a pros and cons chart in my brain.

Cons

Seeing Fang again

Dealing with Angel, the little devil child

Seeing Fang again

Gazzy's awful gas bombs

Trying not to rip off Iggy's head for dumping Ella

Fang

Pros

Connecting with them, while in the back of my mind trying to plan for when they were going to leave me again, so technically that might go into the "cons" category.

"Yeah, okay, I might," I fibbed.

Seth smiled. "Good, now you'll have a clear conscience."

Seth drove me home after we had a slight argument on splitting the bill (which he ended up paying for the entire thing, and I felt bad because with all the food we ordered, it was kind of pricey) and he walked me to my doorstep.

"Thanks for lunch," I said, grinning. He returned the gesture and I turned to open the door.

"Max-" he started. I turned around, raising my eyebrows expectantly.

"Yes?"

He opened his mouth, then closed it. "Nevermind."

"Are you sure?"

He nodded, not looking me in the eye.

"Okay, bye," I said uncertainly. He turned around and walked to his car. I watched him. What was that about?

Ella bounded on me the second I walked through the door. "So how was your date with Seth?" she sang.

"For the billionth time, it was not a date."

"Okay, alright, sure. So how was it?"

"It was fine," I said.

"Fine? Is that all I get? Give me some juice, some gossip!"

I looked at her with a face. "I was with a guy, so you know that there's going to be no juice or gossip."

"Well, what about you? Are any feelings blooming inside of you? Any butterflies dancing in your stomach whenever you guys touch?"

"Ew, what is this? The fucking Notebook?" I asked, wrinkling my nose.

She rolled her eyes. "So, nothing? It's still Jacob?"

"I could ask the same about Brady. What's the "juice and gossip" about him, huh?" I said the last part in a high voice, imitating Ella.

She turned beet red. "Well, um, we went to go see Mama together," she said.

"How romantic," I said sarcastically. "That movie is so creepy."

"It is, but it was actually pretty good," she defended.

"Wow, you don't really strike me as a horror movie type of girl," I said, walking into the kitchen and pulling out a bag of crackers from the pantry.

Yeah, hi, I'm Max and after I stuff myself with food at a restaurant, I come home and eat more!

"It's not even that bad," she said. "I actually thought it was kind of funny."

I raised my eyebrow.

"Come on, have you seen the way that thing crawls down the stairs?"

I had to laugh at that.

"So, since Seth isn't worth your words, let's talk about you and Jacob," she cooed.

My smile vanished, and I groaned. It has to be either Jacob or Seth, doesn't it? Isn't it funny, since I don't like either of them that way?

I sat at my desk, trying desperately to concentrate on my homework. It was hard to focus, and all that I wanted to do was just to go exercise. After coming back from the School, I have gotten more and more energy that was getting harder and harder to control.

Okay, Max, just a ten-second stretch. I stood up, shooting my arms towards the ceiling and cracking my back. I sighed in relief, a dreamy smile on my face. That stretch was so nice.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

"Ella!" I yelled. "Get the door!"

"I'm pooping!" I heard her muffled retort. I scrunched up my nose. That girl just has to say things so vulgarly.

I jogged down the stairs, and opened the door, expecting to see Seth or even that wretched thing we call Jacob.

"Hi, can I help you-" I didn't get to finish my sentence because my heart nearly jumped into my throat.

I never thought that I would see him again, or if I did, I would have to go look for him myself. But no, here he was, standing on my front door step.

The dark hair with the equally dark eyes, his beautiful olive skin, and the smirk that never seemed to disappear, they could only belong to one person.

"Fang."
