I went into school, falling asleep since I could not, understandably, sleep a wink last night. All I could think of was Fang and his wretched heart-melting smirk. I mean, his smirk was just so ugly and unattractive, it just made my heart melt out of pure disgust. Yeah, that's about right.

Speaking of last night, you're probably wondering what happened between us, right? Here's the short story shorter, Fang was at my door, I opened it, he turned, smirked, and then I slammed the door in his face. Yes, that's right, slammed the door in his freaking face. I was just speechless, I didn't have any clue to why he was here, or how he had found me, so I just… panicked?

Of course, I heard him pounding on the door since clearly, that was not the reaction he had expected, but I didn't let him in. I locked the door, checked the rest of the doors and windows, then ran into my room and tried not to think about it. I don't know what happened to him since last night, and I hope never to find out. I wonder if the rest of the flock followed him-

"Hi, Max!" I heard, knocking me out of my thoughts.

"Bella," I greeted.

Her eyebrows furrowed. "You seem a little tired," she noted.

"Just a bit," I replied, shaking out my hair with my fingers. "I was up all night just thinking."

"About?" She gestured for me to continue.

"Stuff," I said.

"That's really helpful, thanks, I totally understand," she replied sarcastically.

I shrugged, continuing to my locker. Bella seemed to be really worried about me, since I normally don't display much feeling during school. She can go ahead, I mean, it wasn't really any of her business.

I slept through pretty much all of my classes, not really caring about much. I mostly just dreamt of Fang, which I slammed my head into the wall many times for, and walked straight home.

Walking through the front door, I locked it behind me and looked at my mismatching socks as I stepped into the living room to do my homework.

"Max," I heard. I looked up and screamed.

"How did you get into my house?"

Fang shrugged. "Your front door was unlocked."

I blew out some air. Of course, I was too busy trying not to fall over and ram my head on my hardwood floors to remember to lock the door behind me.

"Okay. So, what do you want?"

"I can't come to visit an old friend?"

I glared at him. "We're definitely not friends."

He raised a dark eyebrow. "Fine, an acquaintance," he corrected.

"Just cut to the chase, Fang. How did you find me, and what do I need to do so you can get out of my house?"

Fang stood up, striding over to me. "Why are you so cold, Max? Remember how close we were…" he trailed off, his hot breath on my ear. I contemplated giving in to the familiar touch of him, his voice that I've longed to hear for so long…

I pushed him away. "Don't touch me, Fang."

He looked at me curiously. "So it's true then?"

"What's true?"

"About you and that mutt. You guys are in love?"

"Jacob? Most definitely not," I said, crinkling my nose. "But that doesn't mean that I'm not strong enough to push myself away from you."

"So why are you pushing me away? Don't you miss all those fun times we had together?"

"Just tell me what you want, Fang!" I yelled. I couldn't stand being in the same room as him any longer; I felt like I couldn't breathe.

"Meet me at the park in 3 hours. You'll find out then."

"Wha-?" I asked, but he was gone. "Fang!"

I wasn't going to go. Honestly, I came here to forget about them, right? So, I shouldn't go.

I feel like whenever I say something, it always backfires, since I always end up doing exactly what I said that I wasn't going to do.

So here I was, in Willow Trees park, waiting for the appearance of Fang.

I heard rustling in the bushes. I whipped around. "Fang?"

More rustling. I turned the other way.

"Fang, get out here!"

The wind howled, and the trees shook all around me. "Fang, it's not funny! Come over here and tell me what you want!" I yelled.

A large, heavy hand covered my mouth, a handkerchief in front. Before I could react, I breathed in.

Shit, I thought before my eyesight went blurry, then soon faded to darkness.

I was too tired to open my eyes. I didn't want to go to school. I didn't need to anyways, what a waste of my time…

"Knew you could do it," I heard fragments of a sentence.

"It wasn't hard, I mean, I knew that she still trusted me," another voice said. Fang.

Then it all came rushing back to me. Going to the park, searching for Fang, and blacking out.

My eyes shot open, and the familiar white surroundings greeted me. I was strapped back on the same machine.

I internally groaned. These damned Whitecoats just didn't give up, did they? I escaped plenty of times before, what made them think that I couldn't do it again? Those dumb drunks…

Fang.

Fang did this to me?

Fang was one of them?

Fang was helping the wrong side?

My Fang?

"And she's awake," the first voice said. I saw an unfamiliar face. This woman had chin-length strawberry blond hair, circular glasses and an annoying smile.

"How are you feeling Max?"

"Fuck you," I growled.

Her wide smile dropped a bit, but still hung onto her face.

"That's just her way of saying that she's fine," Fang said.

I turned to him. "You!" I spat. "How could you?"

"You've gotten so gullible over these past few months," he said, giving me a disapproving look. "I'm only back for less than a day and I already had you wrapped around my finger."

"I hate you," I growled. "I'll never forgive you for this."

Fang's permanent smirk only grew. "I never planned for you to. But really, Max. Why wouldn't you think of the fact that something could be wrong? Why would I just suddenly come back for you? Did you like I loved you?"

That last one stung a bit.

"Silly Max," the smiley woman added.

"Stuff it, asswipe. You're not even part of the conversation."

The smiley woman opened her mouth to respond when Fang put a hand on her shoulder.

"Leave it, Bianca. She's always like this." He looked deeply into her eyes, and she blushed, nodding.

Ugh, don't make me vomit. "Are you serious, Fang? This ancient hag?"

Now the smiley woman turned into frowny woman. "I beg your pardon?"

"Don't act all proper, you skan-"

"Keep it professional, Max," a new voice said. But I could recognize that voice from anywhere.

"Jeb, glad you've finally arrived." Fang greeted him.

Jeb looked at me, examining something on the machine.

"I didn't think that you'd actually bring her back with you," he said, ticking some things off on his clear clipboard.

"Didn't think I had it in me?" Fang boasted.

"Actually, I just thought that Max would have put up a better fight," Jeb said, finally meeting my hostile eyes.

"Go to hell," I said in a low voice. "All of you!"

"You guys can go," Jeb said, nodding to the other two. "I'm just going to finish checking up on her, I'll be out in a few."

"Alright," Frowny slash smiley said.

"Bye, sweetcheeks!" Fang waved. He turned, wrapping an arm around Frowny slash smiley's waist.

He's going to pay for that, that's one thing that I will make sure of. He's going to regret messing with me.

Jeb examined my feet, grabbing at them roughly, so I sent a strong kick to his face.

Rubbing his jaw, he set down the clipboard on a nearby metal table. "I'll examine you when you're not conscious," he said.

He left the room, and I was left alone. Again.
