Maria stared at the school gates, not knowing what she was supposed to do. Go through the gate was the obvious answer, but what then? She had only read about school in books, and all those books were forty years old by now! It didn't help that all of the students were staring at her. Had she done something strange? Or was it just because she was new? One of the nearby boys gathered his courage and walked up to her.

'Hey, you okay? You look a little lost.' Maria turned to her 'savior' with a grateful expression, dazzling the poor boy with all of her beauty. He had been expecting a beautiful girl, but he hadn't realized just how beautiful until she turned to him.

'Yes, I am! I'm new here, and I not sure where to go. Do you know the way to the principal's office?'

'Y-y-yeah, i-it's just through the f-front door, through the h-hallway on your right a-and the second to l-last door on your left!' He managed to bring out, his face redder than a tomato.

'Thank you!' Maria, said, giving him a grateful smile that nearly made him faint. Even after she had left, thinking about how odd it was that most boys turned red when she talked to them, he was still standing there.

'Dude, are you alright? We're going to be late for class.' One of the boy's friends asked after a whole minute had passed.

'I… I just saw an angel.' Was all he could say.

After Maria had visited the principal, whom she thanked multiple times for giving her the chance to attend school, he showed her around the building, giving a brief explanation about the building and its history. While Maria tried her best to pay attention to what he said, she was too excited about the chance to live normal human's life to pay attention. The only thing that really stuck was that the high school building where her class was in also had a middle school building right next to her. The uniforms were the same as those in the high school, too.

After the explanation, classes had already started. The principal knocked on a door and told Maria that it would be her homeroom class for the rest of the year. He opened the door, showed Maria to the teacher whom he had previously informed of the arrival of a new student, and left wishing Maria good luck.

'Everyone, we'll have a new student joining us today. Would you please come up and introduce yourself?' Maria swallowed and walked until she stood next to the teacher, facing the students. A collective gasp went through the students upon seeing her.

'Hello, my name is Maria…' Wait, what was her last name? She couldn't just call herself Maria, right?

'Maria Howard. It's a pleasure to meet you all.'

'Very well, you can sit in the empty seat next to Rin. Rin, would you hold up your hand please?' A girl next to the window around the middle of the class raised her hand, and Maria did as she was asked. She opened the textbook the principal had given her earlier. It was difficult, following the lesson, but once she understood how the lesson structure worked, it was easier. All of her knowledge had been taught to her by Peter or even self-taught, after all, so she had never gone to school.

When class the school bell rang, signaling the start of lunch break, Maria looked around, saw people taking out lunch boxes, and took out her lunch bag herself. She wasn't sure with whom she was supposed to sit, but she didn't have to wonder for long.

'Hey neighbor, how're you doing?' Rin, the girl next to her, asked as she held out her hand. Maria shook it.

'I'm fine, thank you.' Before they could exchange any more pleasantries, Maria's desk was stormed by every student in the classroom, each one asking her questions. Was she half-Japanese? Where had she lived before? Did she have a boyfriend? Maria tried to answer their questions to the best of her abilities without giving reason for others to suspect her. By the time the bell drove them back to their desks, Maria barely had any time left to quickly finish her lunch before the teacher came in.

By the end of the day Maria had found out which classes she excelled at, which she was decent at and which she was horrible at. In the first category belonged home E.C. (despite some initial trouble figuring out how she was supposed to work with modern day cooking aperture), English, Japanese and any other language or literature related classes, in the last one belonged computer science (I'm afraid there exist no words to describe just how terrible she was at it: she couldn't even turn the computer on!). All other lessons belonged in the 'decent' category. While walking out of the school, accompanied by Rin and a few of her friends, she noticed there were a lot of people staring at her. Was it really just because she was new?

'Hey, you there!' She turned around to look at whoever was calling her.

'What are you all doing?! We need to hurry up! C'mon, c'mon!'

'Wait up Saehara! Why are you in a hurry anyway?' Riku asked, trying to catch up together with the rest of their group. And with 'the rest of their group' I mean Daisuke, Risa and Satoshi.

'You don't know? There's a new girl in the high school!'

'So? What's that got to do with us?' Risa asked, clearly displeased with having to hurry for something like that. Transfer students were uncommon, but not worth such commotion.'

'She's supposed to be drop-dead gorgeous! I heard a student even fainted after seeing her!'

'I'm pretty sure they were just exaggerating…' Daisuke said.

"Still, a drop-dead gorgeous girl, eh? I'd like to see her."

'Of course you would…' Daisuke mumbled.

They didn't realize how much commotion this girl had caused until they left the building.

'What's going on here!?' Almost the whole school was gathered there.

'It would appear Saehara's not the only one eager to see this girl.' Satoshi stated, pushing his glasses up.

'Let's get closer!' Saehara yelled, grabbing Daisuke's arm and dragging him into the crowd.

'Hey, you there! Could I take some pictures of you for the school paper?' Saehara shouted above the noises of the crowd, already having his camera on stand-by.

'Hm?' The girl turned around, and Saehara's face turned red in less than a second. Were this a cartoon, we'd be seeing an angel shoot an arrow into his heart right about now.

'Sure, take as many as she liked.' She said with a smile that made some of the boys swoon. Make that two arrows.

'Hey Saehara, everything al-' Daisuke began, but stopped upon seeing the girl. His eyes grew the size of saucers, and he could hear Dark saying something.

'What's she doing here!?' Maria turned her gaze on Daisuke for a second, before focusing her attention on one of Rin's friends who said something.

Once she was gone, most of the crowd had begun to dissipate too.

'Wow, she really was beautiful!' Risa said, as she and the others joined Daisuke and Saehara.

'Y-yeah…' Saehara mumbled, blushing as he looked at the pictures he'd taken. Satoshi had noted that the girl had been the same one Krad had encountered earlier, but decided that it was just another artpiece on the loose. Seeing as she didn't appear to be threatening anyone, he decided dealing with her was best left to Dark. Speaking of which…

'Daisuke, are you all right?'

'What? Ah, yeah, It's nothing.' Daisuke waved it of, but he was clearly shaken. He was going to have to tell his grandfather about this…
