Journey To The Emerald Isl: Chapter 7: Luckier With You

Erica stared at the cards steadily, watching the images swarm in her mind. The romantic side of Erica thought that it would be the couple card and the man being swarmed by girls card, but the reality part of her said it was the video games.

Following her guts, she pushed video games out of the sentence. So now it was the two cards left. So what was she going to choose?

I just feel like I don't belong.

That quiet voice echoed her mind, reminding herself about what she heard about one day. The day when she fell in love with Benny Weir.

Erica walked across the halls, flirting with some jock once more. This time, she kissed him on the cheeks, rather to kissing him on the lips like she usually would do with other boys. But she felt different. Like somehow, she isn't suppose to be with him right now. She was supposed to be with someone else, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

Suddenly, Benny whisked by her, and Erica could tell he was in a rush. Something flew out of his open bag, and Erica curiously picked it up. It was a book. As Erica opened the book, she gasped, realizing what it really was.

A diary.

She curiously started to read, imagining what she could do with all the new info about the spellmaster. Words filled her mind as she flipped to the newest entry.

'Dear Diary

I know. Why am I still writing in you? You are a diary. And that is totally girly of me. But I am not trying to diss girls or anything, but really.

Anyway, I write again because I need to. She is KILLING me.

She kissed some jock once more today, and I saw the whole thing. I know I am not her boyfriend, but still. A little respect would be nice!

*Sigh* I am so being lovestruck right now. Dreaming one day that I could get all the girls around me.

...

Who am I kidding? Life isn't that easy. But hey! It can be with a little bit of magic!

I am really going off topic. I will tell you this; she is the one for me. She is beautiful. And I seriously think she likes to break my heart. Maybe one day I will magic up some girls so I could be awesome like that.

But really, all I want is a love that would last a eternity. I would love her forever. But would she love me?

Yours truly,

Benny Weir'

Erica frowned as she finished. Who is 'she', and why did Benny care about her so much? She really needed to know.

Because she now knew who she really loved.

Benny Weir.

And she was determined to be give him the love he really deserves.

Erica stared at the last card as she nodded her head, closing her eyes. Patrick smirked.

"Your choice is this?" He said pathetically. Erica nodded, hissing at him once more.

"Yes it is. I know him more than anything." She said confidently. Patrick rolled his eyes.

"Well your right. I asked him. Before I, y'know, ripped his soul from his mortal body." He said teasingly, making Erica wince. How painful would that be? Patrick took the card and with two hands...

Ripped it.

Erica's eyes widened as Patrick cackled.

"Hey! Hey that was the card that would save Benny!" She exclaimed. Patrick shrugged.

'Well...I never promised that I would actually do anything. After all, I just said choose a card." He said, making Erica growl. How was she to save Benny now? Patrick continued to explain his plan.

"You see, your little lover is good as dead. I am the only one who has the spell," He flicked a small piece of paper in the air. "And there is no chance EVER in the world that you will find one of these. So rare...and only I possess it. I took the care to eliminate them all from Ireland, even if they are a featured landmark of this place. And let me tell you ye beautiful lassie, you will never get this. Plus, ye are gonna be mine. Forever." He said, smiling. Erica's mind suddenly snapped.

The four leaf clover.

It was a landmark of Ireland. She never saw one at all. Yet Benny, or at least the Patrick version of Benny, had one. In the pocket of his tux, he had a clover. And Benny always babbled about never wanting one, because it could totally backfire on you. Or at least, that is what Benny said. So Erica knew Benny had no interest of four leaf clovers. Is that why Patrick kept it?

Erica suddenly lunged at Patrick, aiming for his chest, where the pocket containing the four leaf clover was. Patrick gasped.

"Ye lil' maggot! Get off me, ay?" He said furiously. Erica hissed at him as she caught sight of the clover.

Erica then kissed him.

It was passionate with no meaning as Patrick kissed back. Erica continued this way as her hand trailed on Patrick's tux. Patrick didn't notice as her fingers trailed over the clover. She ripped it out of the tux as Patrick gasped.

"No." He started to scream. "NO NO NO NO NO!" He yelled, shattering into ash. Erica frowned. "I guess those clovers are a bit too lucky for leprechauns." She said, thinking about it slowly as she picked up the piece of paper Patrick said contained the spell.

The Circle Of Life + Clover

Erica frowned; how detailed of him. But she had an idea.

The Circle of Life, her family heirloom, was a locket. And she knew she couldn't open it before she had the best memory of her life with her loved one. Erica's grandma had put in small letter, Erica's mom put in a small lock of Erica's baby hair, and now Erica was going to put the thing that she found the most memorable of her and Benny's relationship.

A four leaf clover.

She caught sight of the pot of gold, sitting at the edge of the rainbow. She dug through all the gold she found in the pot when she finally found the big locket in the bottom of the pot. She grabbed it and slipped the four leaf clover into the necklace carefully.

Erica closed the locket as she kissed the front of the necklace. She took shaky steps toward the statue shaped Benny as she slipped the necklace on his marble neck.

She waited five minutes.

Ten minutes.

Fifteen minutes.

She thought all hope was lost.

Maybe it didn't work.

...

..

.

.

..

...

And that is when the miracles started.

The necklace on Benny's chest spread color through the greyed spellmaster as the marble shattered around him. He started to breath once more as he gasped for breath, his emerald eyes glimmering once more. He smiled at Erica in a daze as he plopped on the ground.

"Well." He said. "That was something. What happened to me?" Erica glanced at Patrick's ashes as she smiled, kissing Benny once more.

"Oh you know. Just some jealous leprechaun."

Erica and Benny were mentioned in the newspaper that day as heroes who saved the gold. Of course, there would normally be no picture since Erica wasn't able to show up on film. But Benny said a small spell on the camera they used, so it was possible.

Erica and Benny sat on the balcony, watching the sun set on the plains of the emerald isle. Erica smiled as she linked hands with Benny, her skirt flowing through her skirt. She leaned her head on Benny's shoulder as she smiled.

"Thank you for taking me here." She said, breathing in the warm air of Ireland. Benny smiled as he kissed her briefly.

"And thank you for making me realize a thing or two." Erica rose a eyebrow as Benny grinned.

"One, a love that can last is possible!" He cheered, making Erica laugh. And he pulled her close as the sun dimmed on the two.

"And for reminding me I could be luckier with you."

And with that, they watched the sunset on Ireland, their minds recalling the adventure they had.
