I land in front of Thelma's and head in. Thelma see's me and says, "Goodness Fang when Ashei told me you were thinking about heading into the mountains for her I just couldn't help myself but look up recipes to hot drinks." She hands me a steaming mug and I gulp it down. I hand her the mug and tell her about the mountain. She then says, "Why don't you go tell that to Ashei? She's been worried sick." I go the back and talk to Ashei. I tell her why the beastman was in the Domain and she says, "That makes sense, I'd go up but I don't think I'd be as welcome a guest as you. Thanks for telling me though." I nod and notice Russell is missing. I note the location marked as the North Faron Woods. Shad pipes in and says, "Russell wanted me to let you know to meet him there and left." I nod and thank him and head out.
I land not too far from where Russell is standing. As I approach him he starts talking. "Remember when we talked last." You've come so far from then Fang." He looks into the distance toward the sacred grove and says, "They say there is a power sleeping within the woods." He looks at me and says, "You plan on awakening this power don't you?" I nod and say, "There's something I need there." He nods and says, "To get there you can use my partner." He uses a hawk whistle and a golden cucco appears on his arm. When he notices my doubtful look he says, "You doubt my partner, he's a great flyer, trust him he'll get you where you want to go." I tell him I'll let him know what I find. I use the cucco and fly to the other side of the forest and enter.
Once inside the forest I find Skullkid, and apparently he has a grudge because he calls out his minions and forces me to chase him through the forest. I know I'm going the right way when I see more puppets. When I see Skullkid I shoot him with the bow and arrow. Finally we reach a clearing and he lands in front of me. He is clearly mad by the tirade he puts on, but then giggles and says, "If you can defeat me I'll let you into a secret place." I shoot him multiple times and finally he says, "This was fun, you can now go into that secret place like I promised. The door opens and I head in. When I reach the end of the passage I find the sacred grove where I got the master sword.
Midna pops in and says that this is indeed the forest the sages were referring to. When I got to the clearing down below I realized how tired I was and told Midna that no matter how important this mission was if I didn't get sleep I would pass out when there wasn't nearby trouble. Midna, who doesn't need sleep agreed to keep watch in case anything came along that would be trouble and then I passed out.
