The first building we pass, after getting out of what Tobias explains is Dauntless territory, belongs to Candor. Their dorm is a collection of three gray buildings, made to look like a scale of sorts. I wonder if that's related to their belief system. There's one tall building towering over the other two, as their anchor.

"So Candor…" I say casually. "Honesty. Are all the dorm names synonyms of what they believe in?"

Tobias glances at me with a smile on his lips. "Actually, yes," he says. "I'm surprised. Not a lot of people actually get that."

"Not a lot of people are actually me," I answer cheekily.

"That is very true," Tobias responds.

"Candor is all about honesty. They tell the truth all the time…even when you wish they wouldn't. They're blunt and straight to the point and because of how it's been put into their minds, they don't see anything wrong with it. Honesty is really all they know."

"But what about those who come from the city? They can't just wipe away everything they've known from the time they were born? Can they?"

He shrugs. "Can you?"

I stop short. I know that I've wanted to erase every belief my parents had raised me with. I wanted the chance to become a completely different person. But being here now is different. Especially when I'm with Tobias. He changes everything. He doesn't push the question and doesn't push my silence. He just lets it sit because he knows I'm going to be thinking about it. That's one of the reason I love him. He helps me grow.

"You'll see how they interact here. And the end of the month there is a huge banquet where all of the dorms come together to eat and display the peace that the school is hoping for when we all go back to the city."

"You make it sound like some sort of experiment."

He shrugs. "There are some days when it feels like it is just an experiment."

"How do you mean?"

"Remember when I said they're always watching?" I nod. "They're not just doing that. They're always taking notes and taking scans and judging social situations."

"What are they scanning, exactly?"

"Vitals, I'm guessing." He must see how my eyes widen, because he grins. "Yeah, the technology they've been able to come up with is kind of insane."

"Why?"

"Why do they do the scans?"

"Yeah."

Tobias shrugs again. "I have no answer for that, Tris," he says. "They just do. We're just their experiment. We only get to know what it is they want us to know. Everything else is just locked away somewhere in a safe. To be honest, I'm pretty sure all of this information is being stored away somewhere far away from here."

"Why do you say that?"

"Because that much power being available to any one of the leaders here at the school? We've probably have anarchy on our hands."

I swallow. "That would be a lot of power for someone to have."

"And that's exactly why I don't trust Erudite. They're always searching for the next best thing. Someone or some kind of key that will get them to the higher level."

"You were that key."

"They wanted me to be," Tobias says. "But I wasn't going to let me use me and then just throw me away."

"Do they do that?"

"I've seen it," He says. "It's brutal. You know some of the people back in the city who don't have anywhere they belong to? They're worse than those guys. They get put up in the psych wards at hospitals. There's nothing left of them. They don't exist anymore."

I shiver. "I don't want that to happen to you."

"And it won't," Tobias says. "I'm not going anywhere, Tris. Not without you."

I feel a surge of love toward him and I wish that we weren't in such a public place because of how much I want to hug him right now. Sure, the way that I feel about him is incredibly overwhelming and scary, but I love him and I can't imagine a better feeling in the world. He just looks at me with that knowing smile and I purse my lips to shake my head.

"I really, really, love you," I tell him.

"I love you more," he grins at me.

"I don't actually think that's possible, Tobias."

He lets out a groan and runs his fingers through his hair. "I wish that we weren't going to see your brother right now."

"Why?"

"Because of how much I want to get you alone," he says, winking at me.

I shiver and can't contain my smile. "We'll have plenty of time for that later tonight, right?"

"Oh I will definitely cut out some time for that."

I grin at him. "You're insatiable."

"Can you blame me?"

"No, I can't, because I feel that way with you."

He laughs and takes a few more steps away from me so that we're not tempted to touch one another. I take a breath as we leave the Candor compound and come across another selection of buildings. They're orange and yellow and kind of blinding. The color is even more dazzling with the sun reflecting off of its walls.

"Okay," I say, shielding my eyes. "What is that?"

"Amity," he says. "Before you ask, yes, they are as happy as they seem. They don't cause problems and they don't raise concern. Sometimes I wonder why they're even here. It's like they don't even do anything."

"I've seen them in the city," I say. "Always happy. And kind of annoying when you're having a bad day."

"Exactly."

"There's not much more to say about Amity, but right behind them is Abnegation."

The first thing I see is gray. And I am automatically transported back to my childhood home. There was rarely any color and no caring about yourself. You look out for other first.

"Selflessness," I whisper.

"I thought you'd recognize it," he says. "It's like home, isn't it?"

I nod. Even though I know it isn't home and I've never actually been the doors before, I feel a wave of guilt and nostalgia run through me. It's not what I expected to feel. I shouldn't feel guilty about leaving my parents. I didn't have a choice. But what I feel guilty about is how good I feel about being away from them. Being my own person has opened things in me that I never knew I would get to experience.

"Do you miss it?"

I pull my eyes away from the familiar grey building and meet the familiar blue of Tobias' eyes. "Sometimes. But it's like a distant memory now."

"Do you ever want to go back?"

I can answer him with absolute certainty on this. "The only place that I want to go is with you. That's it. No questions asks. Where you go, I go."

Tobias grins at me and I return it with a sweet smile. He looks forward and I can sense the tension come through him. The change is definitely palpable in the air. I follow his gaze and a shudder escapes me when I see the buildings in front of me.

The buildings are blue and exudes a sense of power and intelligence. It stands tall, one of the tallest dorms on campus, aside from the Hub. It towers over everything, casting a shadow over everything in its domain. I feel like I'm trespassing here, even just by looking at the building itself. I swallow.

"So this is it?"

He nods. "This is Erudite."
