A/N: Hey everyone! Sorry for not updating these past few weeks, but life got in between and I didn't have time or feel for it. But now I'm back with a new chapter and I'm so EXCITED! This chapter is inspired by Dirty Dancing, one of the best movies ever made! It's with Tris and Tobias (obviously) and I had to change some things while writing this chapter. I hope you don't mind that and that you'll enjoy this chapter! Also, there's so many amazing song in the movie, but I decided to use The Time of my life :)
Song: (I've Had) The Time Of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes
Now I've had the time of my life
No I never felt like this before
Yes I swear it's the truth
and I owe it all to you
'Cause I've had the time of my life
and I owe it all to you
I've been waiting for so long
Now I've finally found someone
To stand by me
We saw the writing on the wall
As we felt this magical fantasy
Now with passion in our eyes
There's no way we could disguise it secretly
So we take each other's hand
'Cause we seem to understand the urgency
just remember
You're the one thing
I can't get enough of
So I'll tell you something
This could be love because
I've had the time of my life
No I never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you
'Cause I've had the time of my life
And I've searched through every open door
'Til I found the truth
And I owe it all to you
With my body and soul
I want you more than you'll ever know
So we'll just let it go
Don't be afraid to lose control
Yes I know whats on your mind
When you say:
"Stay with me tonight."
Just remember
You're the one thing
I can't get enough of
So I'll tell you something
This could be love because
'Cause I had the time of my life
No I've never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you
'Cause I've had the time of my life
And I've searched through every open door
Till I found the truth
and I owe it all to you
*Instrumental*
Now I've had the time of my life
No I never felt this way before
(Never Felt this way)
Yes I swear it's the truth
and I owe it all to you
'Cause I had the time of my life
And I've searched through every open door
Till I've found the truth
and I owe it all to you
'cause I've had the time of my life
No I've never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you
It was the summer of 1963, before president Kennedy was shot and before the Beatles came. It was the summer before I was supposed to go to college, and it was also the summer we went to Kellermans.
The whole family was looking forward to the three weeks we were going to spend there. My father hadn't had a real vacation for years and I knew that both my parent were relieved to get away from home for a while. My brother, Caleb, would probably sit in our room the whole time reading a book, as he always did. We were lucky, because my father was a good friend with the owner of Kellermans so we got one of the best houses there.
We were met by a lot of people as we parked our car and started to lift our bags out. A guy in my age helped us as Jack, the owner, talked to my father. Children were playing and adults were laughing. Suddenly we heard a man talking into a megaphone.
"Okay! In twenty minutes we'll have a painting contest! You can swim in the lake, learn how to draw, we got volleyball and for the older folks, we have sex!" I couldn't help but laugh at his words and my brother just shaked his head at me, but with a small smile on his lips.
Later that night, when the sun had settled, I decided to go out for a walk. The day had so far been awful, I had to join a mamba-class and I completely embarrassed myself. Then I 'volunteered' to help them with magic trick as they cut me in two pieces.
As I was walking on a path I saw a sign that said STAFF QUARTERS NO GUESTS PLEASE. I decided that I wanted to see what they were hiding from the guests. When I got closer to one of the buildings I could hear music coming from there. I immediately got even more curious and I knew that I had to find out what was going on there. Further ahead I saw someone walking and I recognised him as the boy that helped carrying our bags earlier. He was carrying some watermelons and decided I'd help him as an excuse to get in.
"Hey!" I shouted, making him turn around quickly. "Let me help you" He started to protest, telling me to go back, as I took one from him, but I ended up winning in the end.
I was pretty shocked by what I saw when he opened the doors. Music was playing as couples were 'dancing'. They were rubbing against each other, grabbing butts and boobs. The dances were sexual, but they all seemed to enjoy it.
"Jack would kill them if they danced like that for everyone else to see" the guy said as he must have seen the confusion on my face. He started walking through the crowd and I followed him. The people we passed looked at me like I was weird and I almost started to regret coming up here. I didn't like attention.
Then something, or rather someone, caught my attention. Through the doors came the most handsome man I'd ever seen in my whole life. He was wearing black pants and a white shirt that showed a bit of his chest. He was holding hands with a very pretty girl with long brown hair and they both approached the dance floor. They started dancing, not as dirty as the other couples, but still close.
I couldn't take my eyes of this gorgeous man with dark hair and dark eyes, who probably was around five years older than me. He was an excellent dancer, as well as his partner.
"That's my friend, Tobias Eaton!" the melon guy said. "He got me the job here. And before you ask, no, they're not together"
"Really?" I said, ignoring the happy feeling I got. He only nodded before looking back at the dance floor. Tobias and his dance partner were still dancing when a new song came on. Without me even noticing, he had danced his way over to us. Sweat was now covering him and he looked so sexy.
"Hey, Uri" he said in a deep voice that made me swoon. "What's she doing here?" He gave me a quick look and I blushed.
"I carried a watermelon" I said, quickly regretting it. He gave me a long look and I realized his eyes were dark blue, before he turned back to his partner. I carried a watermelon? Stupid.
They were dancing again as I stood there in embarrassment. Suddenly his eyes met mine as he walked over to me. He dragged me to the middle of the dance floor and started to rotate his hips, showing me how to do it like he did.
"Good" he said with a smile on his face. He put an arm around my waist and pulled me against him. Now we were swaying our hips against each other and I felt something twitch inside me. It took some time to understand the moves, but as soon as I did it was amazing. We were so close and we stared the other one in the eyes. I never want this to end, I thought as I threw my arms around his neck. He made me twirl and when I turned back he was gone, dancing with some other people.
I walked back to the house with a smile on my face.
The next night there was a dance held near the water. Tobias was dancing with one of the older ladies and I was standing on the side of the crowd, watching him. Now he was wearing a nice suit and I couldn't keep my eyes of him. I knew I wasn't the only woman with that problem. As I was watching him from where I was standing, I wondered where his dance partner was.
"Where's Lauren?" Uriah, as I had learned his name was, suddenly said.
"Who?" I said with confusion.
"His partner" Uriah said. "She's also supposed to be here and people have been asking for her" I could see he was annoyed. "Anyway, I can't think on an empty stomach. You want something?" With that we made our way to the kitchen where visitors weren't supposed to be.
"Chicken, pudding, brownie, milk, fruit salad..." As he was naming everything he could find in the fridge I heard sobbing. When I looked through some shelves I saw Tobias' dance partner, Lauren, crying. I immediately caught Uri's attention and pointed towards Lauren.
"Oh my..." He immediately ran out, probably to get Tobias. It didn't take long before they both were back. Tobias barely gave me a glance before he made his way to Lauren.
"Hey, it's okay" he said in a soothing voice. "I'm here now" He gently picked her up in bridal style and pushed past me and Uri. As we followed behind I couldn't help but ask what was wrong.
"She's knocked up" Uri said, and that made Tobias turn around with an angry face.
"It's not mine" he said and looked at me. We stared at each other for a moment before I got to embarrassed and looked down at my shoes.
When we reached a house that looked more like a barn Tobias put Lauren down on a couch with some blankets. Uriah took two glasses and filled them with some liquid, probably alcohol. I acted like it didn't bother me when Lauren took one of them.
"It's hopeless" she said, crying. "I'll never get enough money for the appointment" Honestly I wasn't shocked when I realized that she was talking about an abortion.
"You know I'll help you" Tobias said, placing his hand on her knee.
"No, I can't do that" she said. "And besides, it wouldn't be enough, 250 dollars is a lot" She took a sip from her glass and I flinched as I knew it was hurting the baby she was carrying.
"There's gotta be some way to fix this" I said and she looked up at me with mascara all over her face. Tobias looked down with his lips pressed together.
"You know shit about anything" Lauren said. "Go back and play with your dolls" I didn't say anything, but I looked at Tobias. He was looking at me with a face that told me nothing before he stood up and walked away.
During the day I had asked my father for the money. He gave them to me because he knew that I wouldn't do anything stupid with them. I am daddy's girl, after all.
I was passing the grinding couples with 250 dollars in my pocket as Stay by Maurice Williams and The Zodiacs was playing. I searched for Tobias and Lauren through the crowd and felt a relief when I found them. Honestly, I just wanted to get out of here. I couldn't stand all of the couples, especially not the one I was approaching. I lightly tapped Lauren on her shoulder to get their attention. They looked at me with shocked expressions, not expecting me to be here.
"Here's money" I said and handed them to her. She looked at them before looking up at me again.
"Are you for real?" She asked with a big smile on her face. She looked at Tobias, who was drinking a bottle of beer.
"It takes a lot of courage to go to daddy" he said and I immediately felt anger toward him rise. Lauren's smile fell as she handed me the money back.
"Thanks" she said. "But I can't take them" I took back the money as she returned to the dance floor with Tobias, who looked stunned.
"What's the matter" he said. "You should take the money!" He seemed a little annoyed by her decision.
"They could only find an appointment for her next thursday" Uriah said from where he sat next to me. "They're going to dance at a hotell nearby and if they don't do it they won't get paid for this season or for next year" I suddenly realized the panic they must feel for this.
"Can't someone else do it?" I asked and Tobias looked at me annoyed.
"No, miss brainy. No one else can do it, everyone else has to work here" He took a sip from his bottle. "What? Do you wanna do it?" He laughed as he had just told a joke.
"It's not a bad idea" Uriah said as he looked back and forth, from me to Tobias. Tobias almost choked on his drink.
"No, it's the dumbest idea I've ever heard" he said. Well, you were the one who suggested it.
"I don't think so" Lauren said. "Tobias, you can teach anyone to dance. Even her" I acted as it didn't affect me, because I knew I couldn't dance, at all. Tobias had a pained look on his face and then he walked away.
"Don't step on the one, but start on the two" Tobias said once again as I had stepped on his foot. I could tell he didn't want to do this, but right now it looked like he didn't have anything else he could do about this situation.
For the next few days we did nothing else but practice. One, two. three, four. One, two, three, four. I started to get a hold on the steps, but as soon as I thought I had it Tobias always commented on something I did wrong. My space, your space. Spaghetti arms. Straighten. Stand on your toes. During several occasions he got really annoyed at me, like when we were practicing the twirl. Look me in the eyes! He said over and over again.
Lauren was a big help. To be honest I don't think I would be able to handle Tobias the whole time and it felt nice to have someone who really appreciated what I did. She also helped me with my clothes and she taught me how to dance in heels. Though, I often danced only in a short shirt and really short pants. Tobias sometimes danced without any shirt and I couldn't help but stare at his chest.
Two days before the show we decided to drive to the lake and practice the lift. I finally had let some of my anger out and told him how I really felt. I said that I was tired of his bullshit and that I really only wanted to bail him.
"It's all about balance" he said. We were now in the water and he still hadn't lifted me. The water was freezing and you could see my hard nipples through my thin shirt. I acted as I didn't notice Tobias glancing down from time to time.
The lift was more difficult than what I thought it would be. I couldn't keep the balance and we both fell in the water every time we tried. We still had a great time as we clinged on each other, laughing. I had never seen him smile or laugh as much as he did, but it was something I easily could get used to.
Then the day arrived and we were supposed to go on stage. I was so nervous as Lauren helped me with my dress and makeup and I went over the steps in my head once again. What if I suddenly forgot them? In the end we had managed to do the lift, but I was still super nervous.
"It's gonna be all fine, Tris" Lauren said and I looked at her and smiled. "Thank you so much for this" Her eyes started to water and I brought her in for a hug. "I'm so scared" she whispered and then a sob wrecked her body.
I was just about to answer when Tobias knocked on the door. Our eyes met and he gave me a smile.
"It's time" I started to get even more nervous as Tobias led me to the dance floor. The music began and we started to dance. It went pretty good in the beginning, if you don't count a miss that I did.
"Relax" Tobias whispered to me, and it did help me for some seconds. Then everything pretty much went down hill. I turned the wrong way and my steps were not right. "Ready for the lift?" I wanted to say no, but of course I couldn't do that.
We started to run towards each other, getting ready for the lift. Just as he was supposed to lift me up I chickened out and I started to dance some weird dance that was not planned at all before we continued as we were supposed to. Finally the song ended and I happily walked of the stage with Tobias as the audience applauded.
"That was awful" I said when I changed to my regular clothes in the back of the car. When I was putting my shirt on I could see Tobias throwing glances at me through the rearview mirror.
"No it wasn't" he said when I climbed to the front seat. "I think you did great" He gave me a quick smile before he looked back at the road. We got back and stepped out of the car. He took my hand and we started to walk. Suddenly Uriah came running with a horrified look on his face.
"It's Lauren! Hurry!" With that we were all running to where Lauren was. When we came inside Lauren was laying on the bed, shaking like a leaf and looking pale. Tobias quickly ran to her and took her hand.
"The guy had a dirty knife and a folding table! I heard her screaming and I tried to get in as fast as I could!" I didn't stay to hear the rest of the conversation. I ran back to the house my family was staying in to get the only doctor I knew, my father. I woke him up and told him it was an emergency. Then we quickly ran back to Lauren.
Everyone was waiting outside as my father helped Lauren. I knew that my father would be very disappointed in me when he found out what I did with his money. When he opened the door and stepped outside he was thanked by both Uriah and Tobias. Though he only shaked Uri's hand before walking away, me following him.
"Stay away from them" my father said to me. "I don't know who you are anymore, but I want you to stay away from them. Do you understand me" He didn't wait for an answer, he only walked away from me.
I decided to go to Tobias after what happened with my father. I knew he wouldn't approve on that, but in that moment I didn't care.
I knocked softly on his door and was met by his naked chest. I swallowed hard as I met his eyes. He truly was gorgeous.
"Can I come in?" I asked.
His room didn't look as I expected it to, though I didn't rally know what I had expected. It was a little messy, but it still felt welcoming. It was a great room. He quickly took some clothes from a chair and let me sit down on it.
"I'm sorry about my father" I said. "I'm sorry about the way that he treated you"
"You've got nothing to be sorry about" Tobias said as he looked at me with those beautiful blue eyes. "He helped Lauren in a way nobody could have done. I'm so thankful for your bravery"
"Yeah, well, it doesn't take a lot of courage to run after daddy" I said, looking down at my hands. Tobias then stood in front of me, which made me look up at him.
"It took a lot of courage to do that" he said as he crouched in front of me. "You're not afraid of anything" He took my hands and I felt warmth spread through me.
"Are you kidding?" I said. "I'm afraid of everything! I'm afraid of what I want, of who I am, of what I've seen. And most of all I'm afraid that I'm gonna leave this room and never, in my whole life, feel the way I do as when I'm with you" I had tears in my eyes, scared of his reaction. He only looked at me with a blank face expression, but I saw something in his eyes.
"Dance with me" he said. He stood up and brought me up with him. We looked deep in each others eyes as we swayed to Solomon Burke's voice. I started by tracing my hands up his chest, feeling the muscles under them. He put his arms around me and pulled me close to him. My hands were all over him, as well as his were all over me. I walked around him so that I was facing his back. I started to kiss him over his shoulder blades, my hands gazing his butt. I stood in front of him and I kissed my way over his throat to his jaw. He moaned and I felt myself starting to get excited for something.
His eyes were filled with lust as he held my arms above my head, kissing me over my face. He took my shirt off and then we were almost desperately clinging on each other. He brought his lips to mine in a kiss that was filled with so many emotions that I felt like I wanted to explode. We were grinding and swaying to the music in a way that I hadn't even seen at the club. This had something more in it.
Well, here I am honey, c'mon, you cry to me. Tobias grabbed my bottom as he kissed me between my breasts and then softly left kisses on my throat and then my lips. That night was filled with kisses and touching as I fully gave myself to Tobias Eaton.
When I visited Lauren the next day I was relieved to see that she looked so much better. The colour had returned to her face and she had a smile on her lips. Suddenly there was a knock on the door and Tobias walked in. He gave me a quick look, nothing more, before he turned back to Lauren. I felt something in me turn when I realized that he had only used me last night. I was sad at the same time as I was angry.
They talked for awhile and Tobias told her about the dance. I didn't even bother since I only wanted to leave as soon as possible. I walked out as quickly as I could when I got the chance. I was standing outside when Tobias came out. He stopped in front of me and looked at me.
"I'm sorry" Tobias said, looking down at his shoes. "Lauren thinks that this is a stupid idea"
"What do you think?" I asked him. He quickly focused on me and smiled. I couldn't help but smile back.
"I think that it's a dangerous idea" he said. "But I like it"
Later that day I was laying next to Tobias. My head was resting on his chest and his fingers were stroking my bare back. I looked up at him and gave him a kiss on the lips. When I pulled away he brought me in for another kiss, a deeper kiss. He then hovered over me again and made my world spin again.
I was waiting for Tobias in his room the afternoon after that. When he walked in he looked angry, but his face softened a little when he was me. I stood up from his bed and walked over to him. I put my arms around his neck and his found their way around my waist.
"What's the matter?" I asked when I pulled away.
"I got fired" he said and I felt my eyes widen. "Somebody found out" He didn't look at me as he said this and I took a step away from him. I was the reason he got fired and he was the only one suffering from it.
"What?" I hated it. "I am the reason you got fired!" He looked down, but I knew I was right. I started to pace back and forth in the room, not knowing what to do. Suddenly I felt Tobias arms wrap around me, kissing my forehead and telling me that everything would be alright.
Watching Tobias leave was difficult, but it felt nice to be able to say good bye to him. We stood in front of each other, neither one of us wanting this moment to end. He leaned down and gave me a sweet kiss on my lips.
"I'll see you" he said before slowly pulling back and looking in to my eyes. I smiled at him and nodded. He got inside his car and drove of, away from me.
The same night a talent show was held in the main house. I wore a white dress that my mother had bought me. I loved it and I had wished that Tobias would be able to see me in it, since he was the only one I wanted to be admired by.
My family sat at a table in the back and as we were listening to the bad singing I saw someone approach from the corner of my eye. When I looked up I saw Tobias and I felt my heart leap with joy. I stood up and took his hand that he reached out toward me. We made our way to the scene, interrupting the singing.
"I'm sorry about this" Tobias said in the microphone. "But this year I didn't get to do the last dance, which I always do. Tonight I'm going do it anyway, with an amazing dance partner that has taught me about bravery and showed me who I really want to me. Miss Beatrice Prior." He walked of the stage to take of his jacket and then music filled my ears. I immediately recognised the song, Time of my life. We danced just as he had taught me to, the only difference was that tonight we danced with passion and with love.
'cause I've had the time of my life
No I've never felt this way before
Yes I swear it's the truth
And I owe it all to you
A/N: There you go! The longest chapter so far! I enjoyed writing this chapter so much!
I hope you liked this and also that you've watched Dirty Dancing:)
Fun fact about me: I love older 'dancing movies'. Dirty Dancing, Flashdance, Footloose, the music is the best thing in them;)
Don't forget to review!:)
