Sorry for the long wait, I have mainly been focusing on another one of my other stories because it's almost finished and once that's over, the updates should speed up for this story.
Like I said in the previous chapter, I will be speeding things along.
Esme: 33 Carlisle: 31 Rosalie: 18 Edward: 17 Emmett: 17 Jasper: 16 Alice: 14

Carlisle's POV
We were on the third week of having Jasper and Esme and I have stuck to a daily routine; she teaches and bonds with him while I am working and I spend some time with Jasper as soon as I come home but I also need to remember that I do have four other children so I won't forget about them either.
Once Jasper had noticed the pattern that I spent time with him once I got home, he became less worried and upset every time I left to work my shift. Rosalie and Esme both tell me that he still acts a little unhappy but he'll get used to it. Besides; I want Jasper to spend plenty of time with my wife so he can view her as a parent, too. The sooner that happens, the sooner he will feel more like part of a family rather than part of a pack of wolves.
Speaking of which, his animal behaviour has improved a tiny bit; by that I mean he has stopped climbing on the furniture after Rosalie and I keep moving him off and he eventually got the message. On the other hand, his growling seemed to have increased but he's using it in different situations now. He started off growling if he felt threatened or he meant it as a warning before he attacks but now he was often making small, short growling noises if he wanted somebody's attention (mostly Rose, Alice or me). I had thought that if I ignored him if he was doing this to get my attention then he would find a more human way to do it but that didn't quite work out because he just ended up chewing on my sleeve which I had to tell him off for.
I had figured out the reason why he had started growling for that reason though; he had realised that every time he growled, it got our attention as we debated if it was worth punishing him for so he must have used his growling as an advantage if he wanted somebody to focus on him.
Despite the growling, he was beginning to use his words; only simple once like 'hungry' or 'story' with Jasper's pronunciation still very childlike. He has also begun to call out names whenever one of my children walked in the same room as him; he didn't say their name because he wanted to get their attention but because he was proud of himself for learning their names off by heart but yet again, there was still the pronunciation problem.
Another thing that I have learnt about Jasper is that his favorite snack is chocolate chip cookies. It was something I had given him as a reward and because it was a new food to him, he wasn't keen on eating it at first but when he did, he scrounged for more. Now he got a cookie every time he ate all his lunch or if he read at least a page of his book which he was actually having a difficulty with because he needed us to read him the word before he could pronounce it. He was doing well, though; I was proud of his progress so far.
I was with Jasper now, in my study. I was keeping a record of his height and weight which is what I will do occasionally to see if he gains any weight and if he grows. As long as we give him the right nutrition, then he should grow faster than he had done when he was living in the wild. He should be about the same height as Edward so he has a lot of growing to do. Going by Rosalie's height, I doubt that he is genetically small since she is quite tall for her age so Jasper should be, too, as they are so much alike so I can imagine them being a similar height.
"Jasper, stop moving" I told him as I tried to hold him still on the weighing scales.
It was quite difficult to keep him in place without having to put my weight on the scales, too but every time I moved away, so did he.
"Stay" I repeated as I pointed my index finger at him.
It was very much like training a dog but perhaps even more difficult. He whimpered as I released my grip on him again but he didn't move this time. The scales read 120lb/ 54Kg which I could already tell sounded a little too low for him.
"Alright, now come here and stand up straight" I instructed.
The problem there was the 'standing up straight' part because Jasper doesn't do that; he crouches or slouches at the least. I guided Jasper towards the wall which read out the height and positioned his body to stand straight against the wall. This time it wasn't as complicated because I didn't need to worry about affecting the results by keeping him in place. His height read to be 165cm which was 5'5 so he was at least 15lb underweight but as long as he eats the way he has been over the past few days, he shall reach his average weight in no time.
"Good boy" I praised him as I released him.
I jotted down this week's results as Jasper moved closer to me to see what I was writing.
"Hun-we" (Hungry) Jasper said as he tugged on my sleeve.
I knew that he was actually asking for a cookie after hearing me praise him. He has learnt that praise means treat. If, on the other hand, he told me that he was hungry out of the blue without any praising, it meant that he was generally hungry; which was good because it always seemed to be the time Esme starts cooking.
"Alright then, let's go get you a snack" I said as I led him out of my study with Jasper still gripping at my sleeve.
Alice's POV
I was in my room sitting on my bed while figuring out a few math problems that mum gave me. Sometimes, she teaches us all together but other times we are allowed to wander off into our own rooms to do our work since it helps us with concentration.
I heard my bedroom door open so I turned my head to see who it was but I wasn't surprised to see that it was Jasper. He jumped up onto my bed and cuddled up to me; resting his chin on my shoulder.
"Hey, Jazzy" I said as I put my books aside.
"Ali" he mumbled as he began to rub his head into my neck.
He had been coming into my room a lot lately but that wasn't the weird part. Now he has figured out how to open doors, every night he sneaks out of his own room and into mine. He always wakes me up by curling up next to me and occasionaly even standing over my body as if he was guarding me. It was strange in the least.
But yesterday night was a little different. What woke me up was feeling his skin come in contact with mine; his fingers had been trailing up and down my back underneath my shirt but as nervous as I felt, I didn't stop him. I didn't even understand why he was doing it.
I didn't want to tell mum and dad about it though. Jasper was just curious about everything and I'm worried that dad will probably put a lock on the outside of his room if he finds out and that will cause problems for all of us because his howling will start again. The worst that could happen is that dad's protective side will kick in and he'll think the worst about the whole 'touching' thing since he's a guy without any 'knowledge' and then dad will probably get rid of him in risk of Jasper's touches to become more 'explorative'.
I knew that Jasper was really just an innocent boy who is just trying to figure out more about the human within us because he has spent many years identifying animals and listing them as either prey or predator. But something about what happened last night seemed different but I'm not sure how, yet.
Jasper handed me a cookie which was stuffed in his jacket pocket; this was another funny thing about Jasper's recent discoveries. When Rosalie dressed him in his first jacket, the first thing he noticed was the pockets. He was unsure what they were used for but as soon as Rose demonstrated to him the uses, he now refuses to walk around the house without his jacket.
The pockets that he wore were like the cheeks of a hamster; he scavenges for food and once he gets it, he shoves it into his pocket and runs off. I accepted his cookie and he took out another one; dad does like to spoil him with treats. I took a bite out of mine since Jasper seems to watch somebody eat before he does, too, if he was the one that gave out the food but now I mentioned it, it was only me he seemed to share his food with; strange.
Once my choc chip cookie was half eaten, he started to eat his. He was still watching me as if he was making sure that I eat what he gave me. It was okay, though; I love cookies. Jasper's eyes soon landed on my books but I knew what he was thinking the second he reached out for one of the pens.
"No, Jazz. You can't draw in these books. Wait there, I'll go find you one" I told him.
Edward was annoyed with Jasper after finding that every one of the pages in his Shakespeare book had been scribbled on with the occasional spelling of 'Rose', 'dady' or 'Alis' which I found really cute although Edward got all grumpy about it.
I left my room to get Jasper's coloring books out of his play room but despite me telling him to 'stay there' he followed me. But then again, I had expected him to because after feeling so isolated for 12 years, he now can't go a single minute without being near somebody else. I guess that's why he sneaks out of his room at night. It's a sad thought, really. I don't like being alone so the thought of Jasper being left all by himself for all those years make me wonder, did he ever get afraid? Nobody was there for him when he was. That's why I left late at night when he was living back in the wild; I knew that he needed somebody to keep him company but at that point, I had no idea how long he had really been living out there.
Once we were in Jasper's play room, he ran straight to the coffee table that his books were placed on and he grabbed them and gave them to me.
"You'll need your coloring pens, too" I told him.
At that, he turned around again and ran towards a small wooden box that was full of his different learning equipment and took out his pack of pens before running back to me again like a dog playing fetch.
"Now let's go back to my room" I told him.
He ran past me and up the stairs with the felt-tip pens still in his hand and I followed behind him. When I went back into my room, Jasper was sitting on my bed, cross legged; which I will point out was one of the most human gestures he has done yet. He had his coloring pens all spread out in front of him so I opened up one of his own books and placed it in front of him so that he could start drawing again.
I then copied his position and sat cross legged opposite him and put my math book in front of me again and went back to my work.
Sorry again for the long wait.
I want to hear your views on Jasper…..and the way he is being with Alice.
