I am back with a new chapter! Not only that but to thank you for your patience, I have made it longer than usual. Hope you enjoy!

Any misspelled words might be intentional if they are coming from Jasper (I like people to understand how he is pronouncing words).

Disclaimer: I still do not own twilight.

Rosalie's POV

I had been worried sick all day. It just didn't feel like it was happening. I had just found my brother and now it seemed like he was fading away from me again. That; or I hadn't found him in the first place. It was all an illusion. I let that thought go as soon as the home phone rang which I picked up instantly. It was another Doctor letting us know that Jasper was awake; more than awake in fact. I didn't have to question him to know what that meant. Jasper must have woken up in a place completely alien to him. If I ever woke up in a place I have never seen nor recognized before, I would be scared too.

After I had ended the call, I had all but demanded mom to drive us up the hospital. She would usually scold me for being so controlling, especially to a parent but she was also worried about Jasper that she was rushing to the car as soon as I said that he was awake.

So here I was now, sitting as close as I could to Jasper to keep him comfortable. His hand was holding my arm tightly; afraid that I would leave him. He's been doing that a lot lately. His other hand was holding his jacket tightly; his favorite one which mom had managed to get the blood stains out of.

He wanted to wear it but dad had managed to coax him in to wearing some sort of hospital gown instead. Jasper hated it but he seemed to do whatever dad asked of him.

Mom entered Jasper's cubicle with a few colored pencils and a small note-book which she handed to Jasper after putting a bed tray in front of him so that he could use that to lean the books on. Jasper's face lit up when he noticed the equipment for coloring. He loved to color.

"This should keep you entertained for a little while" she told him before turning her gaze onto me.

"Your father is currently talking with Dr Denali about what they are going to do with him for now. Something about a psych evaluation" Esme informed.

Psych evaluation? He didn't need one of those; my brother was not crazy. He didn't drink those chemicals on purpose; he was thirsty but had no knowledge about what he could and couldn't drink.

"Mom, he doesn't need a psych evaluation. Hasn't dad told them about Jasper? Do they think it was a suicide attempt? Because I know it wasn't. Jasper wouldn't do that!" I blurted out angrily.

I didn't mean to shout at her. I'm gonna be honest with you here; I'm an evil bitch, especially when I lose my temper. If mom and dad weren't such patient and understanding people, they would have ditched me back with some big foster care place.

"I know sweetie, but he told me that it was protocol" Esme soothed. "I need to go and check on the boys. They're getting a bite to eat but you know what they are like when they're alone together" she said had she rolled her eyes.

Yep, Emmett and Edward. The dumb one and the smart one. The Joker and Mr serious. Leaving those two on their own wasn't nearly as bad as Edward and I on our own but it was still a terrible idea. They were either bickering or Emmett was probably daring Edward to something really stupid; using his 'chicken' technique. She hadn't mentioned where Alice was but I assume that she was also getting something to eat but was keeping as far away from the boys as possible, claiming that she wasn't related to either of them.

I felt Jasper poke me which was not his usual method to get my attention but I definitely preferred it to his growling and whimpering. Dad told me that it hurt him to make any sort of noise which I hope wasn't a permanent thing because he was really getting the hang of speaking to us.

Going by the notebook that Jasper was showing me, talking wasn't the only thing he was getting the hang of. He had attempted to draw a person but ended up looking like an overweight stick man but it was what was written under the drawing that surprised me.

'Emit'

Yes, the spelling was by far wrong but last time he referred to our big muscled adoptive brother, he called him 'Emmy' and he never voluntarily wrote down his name before either. Why had he drawn a picture of Emmett? Did he want to see him?

"Jazzy, do you want Emmett?" I asked him.

It was rather unusual because I was never given the impression that they liked each other. Especially with the way Jasper kept sneaking into his room to draw on Emmett's bedroom walls, break his Xbox as well as an attempt to break his laptop too. Jasper nodded with a hint of a smile on his lips.

I wasn't supposed to leave him by himself because if I did, he would end up ripping out everything attached to him. Well, now it was just his IV but still, dad wouldn't trust me to be left alone with him meaning I wouldn't be able to spend as much time as I hoped with him.

Perhaps that was the real reason he had asked for Emmett. He wanted to send me out so that he could take out his IV. Was he really that smart? Did we underestimate what went on in that head of his?

Thankfully, dad walked in with Dr Denali.

"Dad, Jasper wants to see Emmett. Could you go get him?" I asked.

He raised his eyebrows, probably surprised with Jasper's choice of person.

"Well, I have actually just told the others to meet me in here when they have finished eating. I need to explain what's going to happen" he said carefully.

"Dad, he didn't drink it on purpose" I told him.

"I know" dad replied, quietly.

Dr Denali gathered a few seats which was probably a good idea. Jasper would probably freak if the whole family came in and all stood around him. It would make him feel defenceless. I found it rather unusual how much Dr Denali seemed to understand Jasper in such little time he has been around him.

Dad took the nearest seat to Jasper on the opposite side to me as he put a hand through his soft hair. Jasper leaned into his touch but as he turned his head, a huge smile appeared on his face.

"Emmy" he rasped, followed by a few coughs.

Jasper leaned forward and I rubbed his back in hope that it would stop his coughing. Emmett walked in, followed by Edward and Alice and last to walk in was Esme.

"Shhh, don't talk. What have I told you about that?" Carlisle questioned rhetorically.

Emmett looked startled at the mention of his name come from Jasper but I just patted the seat next to me for him to sit. As he did so, Jasper's eyes looked directly into Emmett's and I have to admit, he had never looked so confused before. Well he has but maths doesn't count because Emmett is an idiot.

"Did he hit his head also? I swear the dude hated me before" Emmett mumbled, looking away from the intimidating gaze that Jasper was giving him right now.

I smirked but Edward just rolled his eyes. He was probably jealous of Emmett now because Jasper seemed to like him more; even after the moron tried to bond with him by teaching him about how to play notes on the piano.

Jasper gave Emmett the drawing he did but he just chuckled.

"Aw, come on dude, I'm not fat. This is all muscle".

Jasper grinned at Emmett's response before leaning his head back into dad's hand again for it to be touched.

"So what was it that you needed to talk to us about" Edward questioned, impatiently.

Dad stood up, now playing more of a role of a doctor rather than a father and stood by the other Dr's side. Knowing that Jasper missed the touch of dad's hand, I replace his by placing my hand in his hair instead. He liked it nonetheless.

"Well as I explained to some of you before, Jasper will need a psychological evaluation but because Jasper is currently unable to speak and even if he was, he would lack the words needed for it, the evaluation will work differently. Most of the evaluation will be based on his behavior but the reason I am explaining this to you is because each of you are also going to take part so that the psychiatrist can understand his behavior with each of us as an individual. Jasper's behavior around each of us will be observed and they may talk to us individually if they feel the need to" Carlisle explained.

"I don't understand how talking to us individually will help. Jasper was thirsty, end of story" Alice commented.

Dr Denali then spoke up. "This isn't just about the bleach. We will be evaluating his behavior on the whole to prevent similar things from happening again. Jasper's case is one of a kind so he is rather unpredictable. Understanding his relationship with each of you will help us view the way Jasper sees you which would bring a change in his behavior. For an example, he has labelled your father as 'dad' as well as 'the dominant'. His behavior around him is submissive to both labels but after a talk, we'll find out the 'whys'. To put it simply, we just want to see if anybody is a risk to Jasper really acting out and cause him to hurt himself or another, intentionally or unintentionally" Dr Denali finished.

I was still confused but if it lowered the chances of any of this happening again, then I was willing to do this.

"Sounds fine with me. Just promise me that he won't get locked up in some sort of padded room if the psychiatrist gets freaked out with his animal behavior. That won't help at all" I told dad.

"He would only be placed in a mental institution if the psychiatrist feels that he is a high risk at hurting or even killing himself. I think he'll be fine" Dad calmed.

"Yeah, he'll be fine as long as we 'Jasper proof' our house" Emmett joked.

Only it wasn't a joke; we really did need to secure the whole house but no matter how safe we make our house, Jasper will always find another way to hurt himself.

Carlisle's POV

Jasper's IV was removed after a few hours; which he was more than happy about might I add, and all that was left to do before his psych evaluation was to test if he was able to eat on his own. Eleazar had given Jasper a Cepacol spray so it didn't hurt him as much when he spoke. That should make his evaluation easier on everyone since communication is a big help. Despite the fact that talking isn't his strong point, I was still able to understand what he was talking about when he put things into the words of a four year old boy.

I had finally managed to convince Rosalie to get something to eat because she hadn't eaten since she had left the house which was more than 10 hours ago. Esme had replaced Rosalie's seat closest to Jasper and Alice was sitting on the other side of him although Jasper didn't notice her. Well he pretended not to but we all knew that it was just an act.

Jasper's nose twitched as he caught a smell of the tray of food in my hands. On it was a small plate with chicken pieces as I had figured it was one of Jasper's favorite food. Perhaps it was because he was used to the flavor of meat after spending years in the woods. I chose the chicken because I was sure he would eat it if he could so if he wouldn't, it would be because he was unable to swallow, not because he didn't like it.

Also on the tray was a small bowl of soup which is what I want him to try before the chicken. I didn't want to put him in pain if it wasn't necessary so it was best to start off with something smooth. Unfortunately, if he isn't able to swallow soup either then he would have to be fed via feeding tube. If Jasper hated the IV, then he would despise a feeding tube and he would have to be watched 24/7 just to stop him from removing it.

Jasper whimpered as his eyes refused to leave the food tray. He must have been hungry but first things first; I wanted him to drink some water. If he couldn't do that then he couldn't consume anything.

I put the tray on the small table just behind Esme which caused Jasper to attempt to move off the bed but Esme held him back.

"Not yet, sweetie" she hushed him as he continued to whimper.

I sat at the end of his bed with a plastic cup of water. As soon as Jasper noticed the water, he moved closer to me.

"Fursey" Jasper whispered.

"I know" I replied softly.

He cuddled up to me and allowed me to bring the cup to his lips. I put my hand at the back of his head and carefully tilted his head back to allow the water to fall into his mouth. The moment the water hit his throat, he pulled back and hissed which was followed by a round of coughs. Esme rubbed his back until he stopped.

"Sowy" Jasper whispered as his eyes landed on the wet patch on the bed where he had spat out the water.

"It's alright, son. It's not your fault" I told him.

He moved closer to me once more and placed his hand on the cup that I was still holding. He wanted to try again and I wasn't sure if it was because he thought he could do it or if he was just wanting to make me happy. I didn't want him to go through any more pain but then again, I didn't want him to spend his whole life being fed through a tube. He may have just reacted badly with the water because the last thing his throat had come into contact with was the bleach. It was worth another try.

I raised the plastic cup to his lips once more and my other hand tilted his head back again. I tilted the cup more slowly and thankfully, this time, his throat accepted the water and allowed him to swallow it.

"Good boy" I praised him quietly.

He began to drink it more quickly, probably realizing just how thirsty he really was. Not wanting to risk him choking again, I took the cup away from him.

"Not too fast, Jasper. You can have some more after you digest some food" I told him.

Esme passed me the bowl of soup and Jasper lowered his nose to smell what I planned to feed him. When Rosalie gets back, I'll remind myself to thank her for teaching him to eat warm food otherwise I wouldn't have been able to see if he could swallow the soup.

As I dipped the spoon into the soup, Jasper frowned.

"Me do it" Jasper mumbled as he held out his hand.

Of course, he had been learning how to use cutlery. He may have been rather messy with it but at least he was trying. Esme smiled at him, admiring his determination to do things by himself. I let him take the spoon from the bowl as he held it tightly and lifted it to his mouth. Some of the soup fell from where he was tilting it but the rest made it into his mouth.

I waited for his reaction as he carefully swallowed the soup but he winced as he did so. On the other hand, he didn't choke so that was a good sign.

"It tace nice" Jasper grinned.

He took another spoonful which, once again, only half ended up in his mouth but that was fine. I would clean him up once he was done eating. I took a piece of chicken from the plate and showed it to Jasper.

"Can you try some of this for me?" I asked him.

He turned his head away from the chicken which was definitely unlike him since back at home, he would eat all of what was available to him which was reason number two of why I had to put a lock on the kitchen door.

"Just a little" I pleaded him.

I needed to be certain that he wasn't able to swallow it. He kept his head turned for a few more second before turning it back to the piece of chicken. He took the chicken out of my hand and slowly put it into his mouth. I waited as he chewed on it but as soon as he tried to swallow, he jumped off the bed and choked it all back up.

I put the bowl and plate aside as I rushed to Jasper's side as he crouched on the floor. He continued to cough it all up and whimpered as he did so. So from what I have just seen, he isn't able to swallow solids. This could either be a temporary thing or it would be permanent. What I could tell by this was that he most definitely had dysphagia.

As Eleazar re-entered the room, Jasper hissed and grabbed my wrist as he shuffled closer to me.

"It's alright. It's the nice Dr" I told him as I turned him around to see Eleazar.

Eleazar smiled gently at him to make Jasper feel more at ease which worked.

"Jasper had managed to digest the soup but he couldn't swallow the chicken" I informed him.

"In that case, we should speak about the option of how to give him the right nutrition. But for the time being; I came here to tell you that the psychiatrist is ready when you are" Eleazar told us. "He also requested to speak with the two of you as your roll of the parents and then he might want to speak to your children but it all depends on how the evaluation goes" he finished.

During our discussion a few hours ago, we had decided the best way to get Jasper's psych eval done was to talk about Jasper first, then his behavior will be observed and then they will finish by any remaining questions.

I nodded at Eleazar and then turned to Alice who was watching Jasper.

"When Rosalie gets back, can you let her know that he's having his evaluation and that your mom and I will be there too?" I asked her.

"Okay" she replied.

I turned back to Jasper who was still holding my wrist tightly.

"Let's get you changed into something clean and then I want you to meet another nice person before we see your psychiatrist" I told him.

After all, the psychiatrist won't be the only stranger with him during his evaluation and I would like for him to feel comfortable so the least I could do was introduce him to somebody he will be seeing a lot of once we get out of here.

His therapist and counsellor, Peter.

In the next chapter, Carlisle and Esme will have their conversation with the psychiatrist to get an inside to Jasper which will be followed by a watch on his behavior.

I will try to update fast but I can't promise you that I will.

Excuse any mistakes, I will correct them when I can.
