Hello again and thank you for the reviews.
Brazos: I do have a future chapter planned with Peter introducing his dog to Jasper but you will have to wait for the chapter to come to find out how he will react :p And thanks for looking up the dog breed, the story is better when you can picture what they look like.
In fact, I advice all of my readers to look up the 'untonagan' which is the dog that Peter owns and will be introduced a little later in the story.
Any misspelled words in Jasper's speech are intentional, anything else will be corrected when re-read.
Disclaimer: I do not own twilight.
Carlisle's POV
The meeting hadn't lasted too long and it was mostly about me and Esme talking about Jasper at home. We had explained the naughty mat when he misbehaves, his attachment to Rose and I as well as the one that was originally with Alice. He also questioned us about the biggest changes we had noticed in Jasper in which I answered his speech, lack of climbing on things and dealing with things less violently.
I gave him a brief explanation of the relationship Jasper has with each of the people in the house but he will look more into that when he meets Jasper. Dr Lyons, the psychiatrist, told me that he planned to talk to Jasper about each of his siblings and hear what Jasper had to say about them before moving onto Esme and I. I had told Dr Lyons that it was best if the session happened in Jasper's room because it took a while for Jasper to adjust to his surroundings and he was just getting comfortable in there with Peter. He agreed without a second thought.
I returned to Jasper's room after the meeting and was greeted by a tight hug. Peter smiled and gave me a nod; a sign that told me that he handled things well with Jasper.
"So were you okay while I was gone?" I asked him.
He nodded at me with a grin.
"He was nice. Jus' lie you said" Jasper answered.
I noticed Peter's smile grew at Jasper's response.
"That's great because you will be seeing a lot more from me" Peter revealed.
Jasper looked at Peter then back at me again in confusion so I spoke to explain to him.
"Once you're home, you will be seeing Peter every Thursday" I told him.
Jasper's face lit up as he faced Peter again.
"Me see you more?" He questioned excitedly.
It was times like these were I was glad that Jasper didn't have a clue what was going on and I wasn't about to reveal to him that Peter is his therapist. He most likely didn't understand what that was but right now, Peter was his friend and he needed one of those.
"Yep" Peter answered shortly.
I had been so focused on the subject of Peter that I forgot to mention that Dr Lyons would be on his way once he had finished with his notes so it came to no surprise when Jasper's behavior went from an innocent young child to a feral dog in a matter of second when the psychiatrist walked in. Jasper backed up into the corner and hissed and growled at him
Peter held up a hand to warn Dr Lyons to keep back while I moved closer to him to calm him down. Just like the moment he woke up from the hospital, he wasn't being threatening; he was just frightened.
"Shhh, It's alright Jasper. He's a nice Dr. He has come to talk to you" I calmed.
Jasper just shook his head at me and continued to growl. I gently rested my hand on his shoulder in an attempt to relax but again, he shrugged it off and ran passed me to move to another corner.
"Lower your body. You're scaring him" Peter told Dr Lyon's.
Dr Lyons immediately lowered his body to the ground which caused Jasper to quieten down a little.
"Me jus one go home" Jasper whispered to me.
It pained me to hear him say that. Meeting all these new people may be for his benefit but at the same time, it was stressing him out.
"This is the last Dr. I promise and he's only here to talk" I promised him, gently.
Jasper moved closer to me and held my wrist tightly.
"Me don't want you go. Me want you stay. Peas stay" he begged.
It was the first time I had heard him use the word 'please'. Everybody was more focused on teaching him his basic small words yet he was still able to pick up on his manners by hearing his sibling's use those word's whenever they asked for something. It was a great job I informed Dr Lyon's about the attachment Jasper had formed with me. It was already a lot to ask when I left him on his own with Peter but now he really needed me.
"I can stay with you as long as you talk to the nice Dr" I negotiated with him.
He nodded without hesitation but he didn't release his grip on me. I guided him to the bed so that he would be able to feel more comfortable. He moved and jumped up on it before crossing his legs; all his focus on my sleeves but despite that, Dr Lyons made himself comfortable on a seat that Peter set out in front of Jasper and began.
"Jasper, my name is Dr Lyons. I'm here to talk to you about a few things, is that okay?" He asked gently.
Jasper nodded but continued to play with the sleeve of my shirt.
"Well first, I would like you to draw a picture. Can you do that for me?" Dr Lyons questioned.
I understood the method he was using. He was making sure that everything was left in Jasper's choice to make him feel like he was in control. Again, Jasper nodded. Dr Lyons passed Jasper a book of plain paper.
"What do me dwaw?" Jasper mumbled.
"How about a family?" Dr Lyons hinted.
Again, I knew what was to be expected. When a child is asked to draw a family, almost every child would think of their family. This was the 'who does he consider family' technique.
With one hand still on my sleeve, the other was holding a pencil tightly as he began to draw. It didn't take long until he finished and I wasn't surprised with the result. I took the book and leaned forward to pass it back to Dr Lyons and he, too, raised an eye brow.
The picture was similar to the one he gave me not so long ago of our 'family' but there were a few more additions. By a few more I mean, not all of them.
The first four people were close together. Two were tall so I assumed that they were supposed to be Esme and I. The other two seemed to be standing in front of the tall figures. One had long hair and the other had short. A little further away was a picture of a broader looking person and then further away was the last figure. One person was missing and it was pretty easy to guess who it was.
"Jasper, is this your family?" Dr Lyons asked him.
Jasper nodded without any eye contact.
"If I point to a person, can you tell me about them?" Dr Lyons questioned.
Once more, Jasper nodded. I was beginning to think that Jasper had lost his voice again.
"Who is this person?"
Jasper looked up at the picture as Dr Lyons pointed to the tallest figure. Jasper smiled.
"Daddy" he answered happily.
"You like your daddy, very much, don't you"
This was child code for 'explain further'. Jasper put his second hand on my sleeve and continued to play with it before he spoke again.
"Daddy safe. Daddy stop me hurt" Jasper explained in few words.
I had told Dr Lyons about the few incidents that we had where Jasper had injured himself and I had healed him at home not only because I was a Doctor but because I feared his reaction at the hospital. He wasn't doing too bad now.
"Is that why you like your daddy being near you?" Dr Lyons asked.
Jasper nodded.
"How do you feel when he goes to work?" He asked.
I felt Jasper's grip on me tighten and I knew he wasn't keen of the idea of me next leaving to go to work. I was still surprised by his answer.
"Daddy need to help other people" Jasper mumbled.
It's almost as if he parroted my words when I had told him the same thing in order to explain that I had work.
"But how do you feel?" Dr Lyon's repeated.
"If daddy go, Rose keep me safe" he mumbled.
The increasing grip on my sleeve told me that the question was a stressful one. Although, the psychiatrist still didn't get the question he had asked for, he decided to leave the topic for a while.
"Who is this?"
This time, Dr Lyons was pointing at the person standing next to me.
"Mom" Jasper mumbled.
"Can you tell me about her?" He questioned.
"She make tookies and day tace nice" He stopped and looked up at me. "Will she make me toclat milk? I tant eat tookies now" Jasper explained.
I smiled down on him, as did Peter. I'm guessing that he liked the chocolate milk that Peter gave him a little earlier on.
"Of course she will. All you need to do is ask her. You'll be able to eat cookies again when your throat gets better" I told him.
If his throat gets better. I hoped it would because he couldn't live on soup and broth forever.
"What else does your mom do?" Dr Lyons questioned, reminding Jasper that he still needed to talk to him.
"She help me to talk and wite" he stated proudly before speaking again. "So does Rose. She is dat person nest to me" he said as-a-matter-of-factly while pointing to the drawing of a girl with long hair.
"She helps you to?" Dr Lyons asked.
Jasper nodded. "Yeah, she my sister. She nice to me and she keep me safe lie daddy"
Dr Lyons nodded while writing down a few notes.
"Are you dwawing a pitcher, too?" Jasper asked him.
Dr Lyons chuckled and shook his head. "No, I'm just writing a few things to help me remember".
Jasper nodded at his answer as his focus returned to my wrist. When Dr Lyons was finished, he pointed to the drawing of the person next to Rosalie. Before he had time to ask, without looking, Jasper spoke.
"Dat me" he stated.
I knew he was pretty good at hearing so he must have heard the psychiatrist lift a finger but I have no idea how he knew where the finger was going to land. But then again, he did seem to be pointing to each person in order.
"What about this person?"
Jasper looked up and then smiled.
"He not fat. He said it was mus….mus-al" he said slowly.
"Good boy, Jasper" I praised him at his new use of word.
Jasper's smile just grew at his achievement.
"Emmy say it. He help me say it" He told me before looking at his psychiatrist. "Emmy is my new bruver and he use be mean coz he take my crayons but he nice now. He no take my crayons no more" Jasper explained in his childlike manner.
Jasper just couldn't seem to let go of the time Emmett had taken his crayons just so that he wouldn't write on his bedroom walls. Because of that habit, Esme had ordered a big chalk board that we planned to put on one of the walls in his playroom as a surprise for when he gets home.
"Der las one is Eward" Jasper said, plainly.
"What can you tell me about Edward?" Dr Lyon's questioned.
Jasper just shrugged.
"Jasper" Peter called.
He waited for Jasper to look up from my arm before he spoke.
"Tell them what you told me" he spoke gently.
That made me rather curious. Had he already been opening up to Peter?
"Eward nice but Rose no li..ke him. If me like Eward den Rose no like me" Jasper explained.
I could hear in his voice that he was getting the hang of the word 'like'; being able to pronounce the 'K' more clearly. I was surprised to hear that though. Not once, had I suspected that was the reason why there was sometimes tension between the two. Rosalie and Edward hated each other and I was made aware from Esme that Jasper gets a little defensive when they argue but it hadn't once occurred to me that Rosalie was the reason Jasper didn't like Edward. I doubt that it was intentional and if Rosalie knew what she was doing, she would probably stop.
"Do you spend time with Edward?" Dr Lyons asked him.
Jasper nodded. "Me was in his woom. He let me touch the big noise"
"The big noise?" Dr Lyons questioned.
I, too, was rather confused with what Jasper was talking about.
"The bla…ck fing wiv lots of whi…te pushy fings" Jasper described.
Dr Lyons was still confused and looked at me in hope that I understood what he was talking about. Thankfully, I did.
"Are you talking about Edward's Piano?" I asked him.
"Pi-a-no" he repeated.
He looked up at me and I knew what he was expecting.
"Great job" I told him.
"So Edward let you play his piano?" Dr Lyons asked.
Jasper nodded. "He show me what it does" he explained.
"He sounds like a nice person. Maybe you should spend some more time with him. You could talk to Rosalie about it. I'm sure she won't hate you" Dr Lyons suggested.
Jasper shrugged and his gaze returned to my sleeve.
"Jasper? Have you forgotten to draw anybody?" He asked concerned.
Without any hesitation, he shook his head so Dr Lyon's continued.
"Your daddy told me he had another child".
He waited patiently, watching Jasper. He seemed to pretend that he couldn't hear him. Because he still wasn't getting a reaction, he spoke again.
"Can you tell me about Alice?" Dr Lyon's asked.
Jasper froze; his fingers stopped fiddling with my sleeve and I couldn't even hear him breathe.
"Jasper?" The psychiatrist called, rather concerned now.
"NO!" Jasper suddenly shouted.
Once again, his tight grip on my wrist returned but this time, his nails were piercing into my skin as he began to breathe heavily; the way an angry person would.
"Jasper, calm down" I told him, trying to ignore the pain he was beginning to inflict upon me.
I used my free arm to pull him into a hug and he buried his head into my chest as he began to cry. I looked at Dr Lyons as he looked at me.
"I now see what you were talking about" he muttered, referring to when I told him how I was unsure about the relationship between Alice and Jasper.
"Carlisle, I'm going to have to talk to your daughter" Dr Lyons announced.
So what do you guys think?
Any thoughts about Alice? What about Jasper's view on Edward?
