I deeply apologise for the long wait, for some reason, the fanfiction website wasn't working for me and wouldn't let me upload or read stories but all is good now.

Edward's POV
Day three of Jasper being home from the hospital and the whole morning was spent with him sulking in his room. As it turns out, although he enjoyed making banana muffins with my mom, he preferred to eat them but because of his dysphagia, he was unable to.
In order to cheer him up, mom had managed to coax him out of his room by making him homemade banana flavoured porridge to make up for the muffins that he couldn't eat. Plus, he needed some meat on those bones.
Jasper was sitting opposite me now at the table as I ate my cereal. It was early afternoon but like I said, Jasper spent the whole morning sulking and I haven't had my breakfast yet. Besides; someone had to keep him company as well as guide him to act like a human.
It was already surprising to see that he was sitting on his seat properly; his legs dangling down from his seat rather than crouching on it. His eating skills still needed working on though as he ate like a toddler. Most of what was on the spoon ended up on his shirt which is why mom dressed him with a napkin around the collar of his shirt. It was an attempt to reduce the amount of mess that Jasper makes but it failed as he still somehow managed to get porridge all over his arms and face. At least we would have no problem getting him in the shower; he absolutely loved that thing.
It still irritated me to see the way he used the spoon so I couldn't help myself but move around the table; by his side to help him out and show him the correct way to use the spoon. Understanding that I was helping him; he allowed me to position his fingers.
"See? Your index finger and thumb work together to control the movement of the spoon so that you are less likely to spill it. Try and eat it now" I told him.
Jasper concentrated really hard as he put the next spoonful in his mouth; as if he was attempting the egg and spoon race. He grinned when he successfully ate all the porridge from the spoon without dropping any. Proud of himself, he tried again.
As he got that hang of it, I returned to my side of the table and continued to eat my own breakfast. The phone began to ring and the second it did, Jasper raced out of his chair and picked it up before mom got the chance to. We both knew who it would be anyway. The same person who had been ringing non-stop for the past three days.
"Daddy" I rolled my eyes. What ever happened to my workaholic dad?
"No. Me want to talk to you first"
I guess dad just asked Jasper to pass the phone to mom but dad had no chance. Jasper was getting all the attention he could get.
"Me been good. I mean, I been good. Mom teach me that" Jasper bragged.
That's right. Recently mom has been teaching him all kinds of things, including his grammar since his speech and spelling has improved and he is estimated to be seven years old in that department. In other areas however, he is still four. Mom has even begun to teach him math.
I think most of the family underestimated Jasper because although he didn't know it, Jasper was very smart. If we could all read Jasper's mind, we would all understand how intelligent he really is and the reasons behind the things he does. What I mean is; animals rely on body language and noises for communicating.
Jasper developed that knowledge when he was living on his own and used that to communicate with the animals that lived in the forest with him. Perhaps he would growl when animals came nearby while he was eating to tell them to back off; the same thing he did when he was eating around us in his first week with us and he still does when our presence startles him. It's like he still fears that we would steal his food from him like a pack of hyenas.
"I now eat with a spoon pwoperly" Jasper announced, chuffed. "Eward help me. He be nice"
Mom chuckled as Jasper continued to brag to dad; desperate to make him proud. Mum held out her hand for the phone and like I said about understanding body language, Jasper knew what she wanted.
"Mommy want talk to you now, by daddy" he said before giving the phone to mom.
I noticed mom wipe the phone as Jasper made it sticky with his fingers, before putting it against her ear. As mom begun to speak to dad, no doubt about the newest addition to the family, Jasper grabbed his half empty bowl of porridge and emptied it in the bin before putting the bowl in the sink. That was a new one, nobody had actually taught him that. He must have learnt that by watching the rest of us.
"Were you not hungry enough to eat the rest?" I asked him.
It was rather unusual to see him have food left behind but I guess it could be a good thing. Jasper usually ate all he could eat because he was used to making the most of the food available to him. If he had wasted half a bowl of porridge, it would be because he accepted that he was full and if he got hungry a little later, food would still be there later.
"I all full up"
"Okay then. Great job on putting your bowl in the sink" I praised him.
I knew he preferred praise from dad but it should be acknowledged that what he did was good so that he would know to do it again next time. He smiled at me, showing off a little dimple that everybody seemed to love.
And then all of a sudden, his body stiffened and his smile faded.
"Jasper?" I called in hope to get his attention.
His eyes darted to a wall as if he was looking through it. What was he doing? Had he sensed something? I was aware that he was more attuned to the five senses much more than the average human was as they had developed in his life in the woods so maybe he had heard an animal nearby. We get a lot of deer, rabbits and squirrels around here but Jasper's attention to wild animals wasn't like it used to be. Now he was aware that we had better tasting food in the house and he was allowed it if he got hungry, he had no need to want to kill animals.
Well there had been the squirrel incident. I wasn't stupid; I was aware that it was his way in showing his attraction to Alice and dad had known it too.
"I've got to go" mom said to dad over the phone.
She must have also noticed Jasper's sudden change in posture as she put down the phone and cautiously walked over to Jasper and I.
"Jasper, sweetie. Are you alright?" She asked him.
If he had heard moms voice, he showed no indication as his eyes didn't leave the wall in front of him. He did, however, twitch his ears but I was unsure if that was because mom spoke or because he could hear something that we couldn't.
Mom laid a gentle hand on his shoulder but he suddenly snapped his teeth at her and mom flinched back. I, too, took a step back from him, remembering that he had actually bit my dad's arm before. He still had a few marks on his arm whether it was Jasper's teeth or nails that did it.
We watched and waited for any other reaction to come from him but he had just returned to staring through the wall as if he hadn't even showed any aggression to the person he called 'mom'.
And then it came. He jerked back and began to howl loudly; so loudly that I almost missed the sound of the doorbell ringing. That's what it was! He had sensed a person. Jasper begun to run around the kitchen; screaming from the top of his lungs.
"Edward, can you get the door please? I need to make sure he doesn't hurt himself" mom told me.
I nodded but was unsure about leaving mom with Jasper. He wasn't just a handful, he was dangerous. As I walked out of the kitchen, Jasper pushed passed me and ran towards the door and randomly began to head-butt at it.
"Stop Jazz!"
I turned around and saw my sister, Alice, run down the stairs.
"Stay back, Alice" I hissed at her.
I didn't mean to sound nasty but Jasper could hurt her. Despite my attempt to keep her back, she pushed passed me and pulled Jasper away from the front door.
"Shhhh, it's okay, Jazzy" she hushed.
The sound of her voice stopped him from hurting himself but it didn't stop his howls although they did quieten. Alice took his hand and led him into his play room but he was very hesitant. That gave me a chance to open the door.
"Bella" I stated, shocked. "What are you doing here?"
Bella was my …friend. I really liked her though and I think that maybe, she liked me back. I visited her house yesterday evening and came back late which is why I struggled to get up this morning. Mom and dad prefer it when we go over a friend's house because it gives us a chance at maintaining a healthy friendship and we kind of lacked that because we were home schooled kids.
"Oh, um… You left this around my house yesterday" she said, handing me my jumper.
Huh, so that's where it got to.
"Is everything alright in there? Have you got a dog or something?" Bella questioned.
I scratched my neck nervously, thinking of something to say. What would she think if she found out I had an animal as a brother? Almost as if the animal himself had read my mind, I heard Alice call out his name and the next thing I knew, Jasper had knocked me down and stood over me protectively.
Wait, protectively? That was odd.
Bella stumbled back as Jasper bared his teeth and growled at her. Damn it! He was ruining the one chance I had with her.
"Jasper, stop it!" I yelled at him.
I grabbed the collar of his shirt and yanked him back as I stood back up. He whimpered but his growling halted. He straightened himself up and clenched his fist into the sleeve of my shoulder but the glare he held with Bella didn't stop.
"Uh, Bella this is …Jasper. He's a uh…..new addition to the family" I stuttered.
"Was he raised by a pack of wolves or something?" Bella questioned, nervous under the intimidating gaze that Jasper was giving her.
"Close enough" I shrugged.
Bella seemed surprised by my answer, probably not expecting her sarcastic comment to actually be true. Maybe he wasn't actually raised by a pack of wolves but he wasn't far from it. Alice rushed out of the house and mom followed.
"Oh, hi Bella" Alice greeted cheerfully. "Don't worry, he won't hurt you"
Alice grabbed Jasper's hand once again and embraced him into a hug; with his head leaning into her neck so that his eyes weren't on Bella.
"Hey, Alice" Bella greeted back.
She still eyed Jasper cautiously but I didn't blame her. My first encounter with Jasper wasn't exactly a good one and I couldn't help but fear him. The fear was still there but I was better at hiding it.
"You can come in if you want" Alice invited.
"No she can't" I suddenly disagreed.
It sounded rather rude but I would rather it be that way than Bella 'get to know' Jasper a bit more.
"Mom, do you think she should stay? I think it would be good for Jasper to get used to outsiders" Alice pointed out as she turned around to look at mom.
I could tell that she was debating it and so was Bella. I turned back round to look.
"You really don't have to do that" I assured her.
She shrugged at me. "I don't have anything else to do all day. Besides; I like hanging out with you"
I blushed as she said that. She does like me. Mom smiled at her, reassuring her that it was fine although she might have just been reassuring herself as I heard her mutter to Alice.
"Make sure you keep him under control until your father gets home"
Alice nodded happily at her and led Jasper back inside. I guess I had some explaining to do to Bella. As soon as I felt like Jasper was a safe distance in the house, I walked Bella in to the lounge and offered her a seat.
"How comes you never told me about Jasper? You told me about everybody else" Bella pointed out.
"Honestly, it wasn't something we wanted many people to know. His upbringing is…..odd" I told her truthfully.
"So you meant it when you said something about him living with a pack of wolves?" She asked.
I was about to explain it when Alice sat down on the seat next to Bella which only mean that Jasper would be there too. He jumped up onto the armrest by my side and crouched there, eyeing Bella again but it wasn't intimidating anymore. It was more like a curious gaze.
"Jasper has been living on his own in the woods since he was just four years old. 12 years later, we find him and he is now one of the family" Alice informed happily.
Bella raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Your parents took him in? Just like that?" She questioned.
I shrugged at her. "They didn't really have a choice. He was Rosalie's missing brother and we all know how she gets when she doesn't get what she wants" I commented.
Alice turned to me and glared. "They did have a choice and they kept him because they wanted to; not because they had to" she noted.
Yeah, only because my dad feels like he's responsible for those he feels sorry for. I kind of hate how soft he was; that's how we ended up with Rosalie in the family. She was abducted, followed by a a car accident and lost her parents all within a day and suddenly dad wants to be the one to help. And now it was all about Jasper. I know it sounds kind of harsh but it was true; my mom was great at her duty to be a mother and she made sure that she was splitting her attention with all of us equally but with dad, most of his focus was for Jasper. Was I jealous of him?
"Seriously? You find a guy in the woods and he turns out to be Rosalie's long lost brother. That sounds incredibly far-fetched; like a one in a billion chance of happening" Bella commented.
"Yeah, Jasper is living proof that miracles do happen" Alice smiled.
It was strange. The moment that smile appeared on her face, Jasper jumped off the armchair and sat by Alice feet; leaning the back of his head against her knees. Bella noticed this and smirked.
"He seems to like you" she noted.
Alice rolled her eyes and blushed. "I know" she muttered under her breath.
I was kind of happy that whatever had been going on between Jasper and Alice was over now. Rose and I spoke to Jasper yesterday, telling him that if he wanted to be happy around Alice again, that he should apologise and 30 minutes later, he is snuggled on the sofa with her. But there was still another part of me that felt regretful of doing that, like I was making things worse but I was unsure about what it was.
I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough.
So how was this chapter?
I thought it would be a good idea for you to get an insight to Edward's mind. Carlisle isn't the only one understanding Jasper's behaviour. Edward's intelligent but I also think him of the 'favourite' child, especially with Carlisle. At least that's the impression I was given in the twilight movies so I thought it would make sense that Edward would feel at least a tiny bit jealous or neglected of attention he would usually get from his father, and it is now being given to Jasper.
