I'm BAAAAACK! :D I took another one month break. And probably most of you are just like, "Ugh, forget this story! She's never going to post!" Well this is a new post! :) I hope you guys are having a great time, wherever you are! :) Anyways on with the Kucy date!
James's POV
Since my kiss with Jo, I've been avoiding her. Sure, it's rude. But, I'm avoiding her because I'm embarrassed. Considering I kissed her, when she has feelings for someone else. That is either a crossing line for failure, or rejection. Which are probably the same thing. Yes, we have that friendship bond, which I don't want to break. But, I've been crushing on her for a year now. Plus, none of the guys know I have a crush on her. They think I'm the 'date a girl, then dump her' type of guy. Although, I was that type of guy in the past with my 'not being dumped' streak. But now that I've met, and gotten to know Jo. In my mind, she's the only girl I'm willing to spend the rest of my life with.
Earlier that Friday morning, we received our well designed flyers for our Prom. The background, was a nicely designed chandelier all lit, and letterings that signified the the background. Mrs. Barnes hands me a stack of the flyers to each of us, and ordered us to put them around school. I grabbed a stapler, and quickly ran out. I started out in the Biotech building, and stapled flyers everywhere.
Lucy's POV
There I was sitting in my theatre class awaiting the bell to ring to begin class. And also awaiting Kendall. My head was leaning against my palm, as I looked down at my notepad. Doodling random things. I drew a bunny surfing on a wave, and a sun setting behind a mountain. It didn't look bad, but it seemed somewhat accurate to what it might be?
"Hey Lu!" I hear a familiar voice, I look up and smile to see Kendall. "Nice, doodles."
"Thanks," I grin,
"So, I was wondering. Are you allergic to seafood by any chance?" Kendall raised his eyebrows while asking. I sighed, sadly.
"I'm not allergic. But, I'm assuming you're taking me out to dinner?" I guessed,
"How'd you know?" Kendall gasps,
"Just a hunch." I scrunch my face. "Come on, let's do something else besides that?" I begged,
"I don't want to go on those mainstream dates where they have dinner." I complained,
"Then what do you think we should do?" Kendall questions, I purse my lips. Considering I was something different. Ideas were swirling my mind, when I smiled.
"Lightbulb!" I chuckle lightly, "So?"
"Why don't we have a overnight date?" I suggest, Kendall's left eyebrow raises in confusion. "Wha?"
"I mean, an after curfew date. We sneak out at night, and have fun."
"Break curfew?" Kendall's voice quivers,
"Yeah, break curfew." I wear a cheeky smirk, " What? Is little Kendall scared at night?" my lips frown as I tease him.
"Am not." He objected, "You know what! Overnight date it is." he held his head high.
"Great, pick me up at ten." I winked at him, and he wears a little grin and walks to his seat.
Saturday...
It was Saturday night, nearly nine-thirty. I couldn't decide what to wear on our first date together. It was either my usual leather jacket and dark skinny jeans, or a red with navy blue plaid 3/4 shirt, and a white plain shirt with dark skinny jeans and vans. I ended up wearing the plaid. Wanted to be different tonight. I check the time, nine-forty five. I grabbed a tie, and tied my hair up in a ponytail. with my bangs hanging down.
"Hmm...too plain." I took out the tie, and found my curling iron. I curled my hair into slight waves outward, revealing my red streaks. I looked at myself in the mirror, I looked casual and sorted. I hear my phone ring, to see a text message from Kendall.
Little bit early. Just too excited. I'm out front. -Kendall
I'll be there in 5
I closed my phone, and checked myself in the mirror one last time. I opened my bedroom window slightly, and squeezed through the crack. I landed on the grass, and rushed over to Kendall. I see Kendall dressed in a grey plaid shirt, and a light blue button down, and dark cyan jeans, and black converse. In front of him was a backpack. He was leaning on a bike? A BMX bike to be exact. The bike had pegs on the back, and was dark blue.
"A BMX bike?" I blurted,
"Well, you wanted different. Here it is!" He sneaks a laugh,
"You weird, Knight. But, let's do this!" I cheer, and I climbed onto the pegs behind Kendall, and wrapped my hands on his shoulders.
"Let's go." He spoke, and he pushes his left foot off the pavement, and the bike moves. I feel the wind from the speed of our bike sway into my hair.
"Were we going?" I ask him,
"It's a surprise!" he giggles, and I wear a smile. I lean over and wrap my arms around Kendall's back.
"Why are you hugging me so suddenly?" He says while biking,
"I'm just happy, that I'm with you. That's all." I smile, and we continue down biking.
We turn the corner, and we arrive at a wide open field. I notice that it was a park, the park gate was closed. Kendall hits the brakes and stop.
"Why are we at a closed park?" I raised my eyebrows, He carried his bike over to a large bush, and hid it behind the bush. So it wouldn't be seen.
"Are we doing what I think we're doing?" I feel a smile arch on the corner of my lip.
"Oui, mademoiselle." He agreed, and took off his backpack. He swung it over the steel gate, The backpack landed on the ground on the other side of the fence. Kendall's hand grip the fence and began climbing over it. I watch him, as he jumps down to the dirt. He looks over to me.
"You coming or what?" He chuckles, I raise my eyes, and followed. I climbed over the fence smoothly, and jumped down. I dusted my shirt a bit, and looked up. Kendall swung the backpack over his left shoulder. With his right hand, he slowly slips into my left.
"Come on it's already start." He grins and he guides me to the field. I hear the small sounds of our feet rubbing against the fresh grass. We were walking in silent, until Kendall broke the awkwardness.
"Lucy, do you know what day it is?" He awaits my answer, I think back, and replied "The 21st of April? Why?"
"Well, there's this constellation called the Lyra. Every year from April sixteen to the twenty-sixth there is a meteor shower called the Lyrids. Right now it's suppose to be the biggest of the the ten days. So we have front row seats to the beautiful show." He smiles, and I look up and I see small lights crashing across the sky. One meteor after another dancing across the sky. Kendall let's go of my hand and he lays on the grass. He pulls out a small bag of store bought popcorn.
"The show has begun." He cheers, and he tosses a popcorn into his mouth. I knelt down, and sat down next to him. I layed my head gently on the grass, as I watch the bright sky.
"Kendall, not gonna lie. This is amazing." I cooed,
"Well it fits the situation. I'm here with an amazing girl." He commented, I look to my left and see him wear a cheeky smile.
"Wow! I am so swooned." I reply sarcastically, Kendall pulls his body up, into a sitting position. He looks at me.
"Open your mouth. I wanna see if I can shoot popcorn into your mouth." He says as he throws a popcorn in my eye.
"Ow!" I cry out loud, "This is not what I imagined our date would come."
"That's what you wanted right?" Kendall objects,
"Well yeah but, we can't just watch the sky the whole night." I added,
"Who said we'd do this all night?" He smiles, and puts on his backpack. "The sky is going to be lit all night. Wherever we go we'll still see the dancing of the meteors." He reaches out, and takes my hand. We hop over the fence, and ride around the bike. We go a few streets forward, to a somewhat urban area in Los Angeles. We take a right on street corner, and I see a big artistic building with a built in clock tower attache to it. I see that it was ten minutes past twelve. Then next to it is a floor fountain. The fountain had a tall curvature structure in the middle shooting out water in an arc. Then surrounding it are angel statues shooting water out from their arrows. We park the bike at a bike rack near a old fashion light post. I climb off, and rush over to the water fountain. I see Kendall set his backpack down on one of the benches around the water. I knelt down on my left knee to touch the water on the flooring. It was cold, and I smiled. I stood back up, and rushed over to Kendall. I take off my converse, and socks, grabbed Kendall's hand and tugged him toward the water.
"What are you doing?" Kendall objects, and pulls his hand away.
"Come on, let's have fun!" I cheered, and ran to the water. I walked slowly barefooted into the water cement flooring. I feel the cool, refreshing water touch my toes. I turn around to Kendall's direction.
"Come on!" I holler out at him.
Kendall's POV
"Come on!" Lucy hollers out at me, I look out at her waving her hands in the air. I sighed, and began taking off my shoes and my button down shirt. I skipped over to the fountain.
"Yes! Yes!" Lucy cheered, as I approach the fountain, and run to her, and wrap my arms around her waist and pulled her upward. I swung her around in circles, as i put her under the water shooting from the angels. She gasps as her hair get's wet, and as her clothes.
"Kendall! You jerk!" she laughs, as gets a handful of water from her palm and threw a couple of splashes at me. I block them with my forearm.
"Hey! Watch the hair! Watch the hair!" I repeated, she laughs and continues throwing palm fulls of water. As soon as I knew it my hair and shirt were damp.
"Well there's no reason to protest now!" I nodded, and played in the fountain. Lucy jumped onto my back, and we piggyback ride around the fountain splashing the water all around. We spun continuously causing us to our balance and fall our butts into the water. We continuously laugh, and just sit in the water. I leaned my head against the curvature fountain, and Lucy sitting across from me. Making miniature whirlpool with her fingers in the water.
My eyes shyly land on Lucy, as I examine her beauty. Her hand tucks her damp hair behind her ear. As the streetlights around the fountain glisten against the water, revealing her piercingly brown eyes. The way her long eyelashes brush against each other as she blinks. The way she bites her bottom right lip when happy. I couldn't help but be astounded by her presence and beauty.
"We should get out of the water, I'm started to get cold." Lucy spoke, and I nodded and we both walked out of the water to the bench where our things sat there. We sat side by side, I notice that she was shivering. I grabbed my button down from my backpack, and wrapped it around her for warmth.
"It's weird, cause it's almost summer yet the cold water makes you cold." I stated,
"Well, obviously. It's cold." Lucy added, as she rubs her hands together to reside the shiverness. There were silence between us, until Lucy broke it.
"Quick question," Lucy interrupts, "Why do you like me?"
"That's a weird question to ask. Well, I don't know. I guess it just happened." I answer,
"That's not a well enough reason." she added, looking at me little annoyed.
"Well, maybe you don't need a reason to...like someone." I become hesitant, is 'like' the way I'd describe my feelings for her.
"But, that doesn't make it-" she began saying,
"Lucy." I interrupted her, "By the time I realized it, I was already in love with you!"
Her eyes were surprised but, they drifted down to the concrete flooring. Seemingly, like she was avoiding eye contact. She purses her lips.
"Well," she pauses, and I look to her and she wears a smug smile, "you seem to be a lovestruck idiot." she punches my slightly on my shoulder.
"For you, I'd agree." I chuckle a little, then Lucy sneezes suddenly. "Say, let's go grab a coffee. A place away from the nature just to settle in till we dry off. I know a place not too far from here."
"A coffee place open at one in the morning? Your joking, right?" Lucy sniffles, as she itches her nose with the back of her hand.
"Their open 24/7 come on." I wave to accompany, as I toss my backpack over my shoulders, and take my bike with me. I see Lucy walk along the other side of my bike. We walked a 2 blocks down and we reach Brewfé. Brewfé is a 24/7 open cafe near Sunset, and 7th that is famous for it's icy and hot Americano coffee. Which I like to buy whenever I'm around. With one packet of splenda, and non-fat milk. The building design on Brewfé is a two storey building with the kitchen on the first floor, and the living room, and enjoyment area on the second floor. The second floor is a balcony type setup. Overlooking the ground floor from above inside the building. I set my bike on a rake in front of the café. We walk into the coffee shop, the nice cold breeze hits me like a bullet. I feel a shiver run down my freezing spine. We walk up to the counter, where a middle aged women was awaiting.
"Nice to see you again, Mr. Knight." she greets me, and notices Lucy. "Welcome to Brewfé! Or special for the day is an Icy Americano."
"I'll take the usual Pineapple-Mango Smoothie, and a Café Presto. Whataya want Lucy?" I turn my head to Lucy, she examines the menu carefully.
"Do you guys have anything popular specialties?" she asks,
"Well our Chai Thai Frappuccino has been ordered quite a lot recently." the cashier recommends,
"I'll take that thank you." she agreed, and I handed money to the cashier. She hands us a slip of paper with the number '92' on it.
"Your number will be called from the second floor. Enjoy!" she smiles at us, and we proceed above. We walk up and we see the stage with a performer singing some acoustics, around were five to eight people. We find a sofa near the performer, and Lucy sit in it putting her feet up covering the whole sofa.
"Well you sure have a lot of space there." I pointed out, and I grabbed a quite large bean bag, and sit in it near her.
"Oh come on, I'm joking." Lucy jokes, Lucy gets up and sits in the large bean bag with me.
"You know I could've just sat on the sofa with you? Just a hunch?" I suggested,
"No, I like it here." she turns to me. Be both lay back on the bean bag and listen to the soothing sounds of the guitar. I look at Lucy at the corner of my eye, and I lift my left arm, and yawn. I put my arm around her, and she pulls her head up.
"Really?" she raises an eyebrow,
"It's a classic?" I wear a goofy smile, and she rolls her eyes, and leans her head back onto my arm. She moves her head and finally rests it on my shoulder. I lean my cheek on the top of her head, accepting her presence. I notice her left arm arches up, and meets the arm around her. Our hands playfully intertwine with each others.
"Hey Kendall," she whispers,
"Yeah, Lu?" I say, showing I have her attention.
"Through all my hardships for the past few years. I must say, this is the most happiests I have been." she spoke, and she lifts her head up from my shoulder, and looks at me. "And I'm so glad that I get to share my happiness with you. For once in my life, I don't have to try to be happy. When I'm with you, it just happens. I just think that if I hadn't made the choices I've made in the past, I wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to meet you. The boy that would change me." she begins to sniffle,
"Whoa, this is an emotional first date." I comment,
"Shut up! I'm not crying," she giggles, and I smile. From afar I hear a bell ding.
"Number 92, please!" a guy calls out. I get up to retrieve our drinks, I come back and set the tray on a coffee table near our bean bag.
"Your Chai Thai Frap, my beautiful rocker." I hand Lucy her beverage, and sat back next to her, putting my arm around her. sing my other arm to reach to get my coffee. She returns to setting her head on my shoulder. We continue to listen to music, until the performer made his final farewell. We managed to stay there for 2 hours, just talking about ourselves, and how we both got interested into music. It wasn't until I noticed it was ten minutes past four o'clock. We both decided we should head back. As we were walking down the stairs, I look up I see my bike isn't on the rake.
"My bike!" I blurted out loud, I burst out of the store, and look around to see if someone nearby took it.
"Great! Now how are we going to get back home?" I turned to Lucy for ideas.
"We could just take the subway home? Just like a 30-45 minute ride." Lucy says,
"I guess it's our only choice, unless you wanna take a cab?" I suggest,
"Let's take the subway, plus it's cheaper." Lucy agreed, and we walked towards the nearest station. We got into the subway, and we sat next to each other near the window. I notice her eyes beginning to close, and she leans her head against the glass of the window to sleep. I gently motion her head to my shoulder. I pull out my earbuds, and plug it into my phone. I press my Coldplay playlist, and just listen to it. Our stop was just two more stations down, and I begin to awake the sleepy Lucy.
"Lucy, our stop is almost near. Wake up!" I nudge her with my elbow.
"Three more minutes..." she says groggy, and returns to sleeping. I recall the way we went to the beach, I had to carry her. Our station had stopped, and Lucy wouldn't wake, so I ended up carrying like last time. All four blocks to her house. We finally reached her house, and I wakes up from her groggy sleep. I set her down on the ground, and I turn to face her.
"Well this is me." she announces, "I had a fun time."
"I'm glad you did." I grin, I begin to lean forward to kiss her, but I hear a footstep. She took a step backwards.
"I don't kiss on the first date." she mentions, I raise my bold eyebrows.
"Are you inferring that we're going to have a second date?" I chuckle, a little.
"I don't know. But, I'll keep you posted." she smiles, and plants a quick kiss on my cheek. "See you at school." She begins to head to her house. I turn around, and feel this giddy feeling inside of me as I walk on back home.
BEFORE THE QUESTIONS! I have a request! The Prom chapter is coming up! And I'm having trouble with choosing dresses for the characters, and tuxedos! I have a few ideas but, I'd like to have you guys contribute in with it! ALSO! Reference to the Big Time Rocker episode! :) Just thought I'd point that out :)
Time for questions!:
What'd you think of their date?
Would you mind going on a date like that with Kendall?
Opinion on James playing the 'Avoiding You' game?
What'd you think of James thinking Jo is the girl that he wants to settle with?
Do you think that's too soon for James?
Do you think what Lucy say was true? If she hadn't made the choices she made, she wouldn't have met Kendall?
I'll see you guys soon in the next chapter! Hopefully, I won't take a long time next time! :)
