The sun was starting to rise as Miyu and Kanata walked up the stairs to the Sanogi Temple. Miyu walked slowly with the small child asleep in her arms. Kanata looked down at them, unsure what they were going to say to his father and Grandmother Ki. That's when Miyu spoke.

"He's pretty cute you know, this little boy. What did the paper say his name was again?"

Kanata pulls out the paper and reads it aloud.

"Ruu. I still think we should take him to the police and let them find his family. This letter about him being sent by a star, let alone a wishing star, is just crazy."

"We can't Kanata. Something deep inside me keeps telling me that we should bring him here. I just know something important is going to happen if we do."

Kanata just sighs as they reach the top of the stairs.

"Let me go in first and make sure the old hag and my dad don't make this into a big commotion."

Miyu nods as he heads inside and looks down at the sleeping boy in her arms as she makes him a silent promise to him.

'Don't worry little Ruu. I won't let anything happen to you.'

Inside:

Kanata keeps calling out to his father and Grandmother Ki but no one is responding. The house is completely deserted. In the kitchen, he finds two letters on the table, one addressed to him, the other to Miyu. Kanata opens it and finds two different hand writings on the piece of paper and starts to read out-loud.

"Dear Kanata, Grandmother Ki and I won an all expenses paid trip to India. You know it had always been my dream to visit there so Grandmother Ki and I are taking the first avaliable flight. You are now the man of the house and monk of the temple. I leave everything in your hands.

Hosho Sanogi Peace out!

P.S.

I'm leaving Miyu in your hands Kanata. Take good care of her and I will be checking in on you both. Don't do anything until you've been offically married and send us lots of photos of the wedding!

Grandmother Ki"

Kanata crumbled the letter into a ball and threw it away. He goes outside and finds Miyu rocking the baby back and forth slowly while humming.

"Well, looks like we won't have to explain him. They're gone."

Miyu looked at him confusingly.

"What do you mean they're gone?"

Kanata sighed before he spoke.

"It's just like I said. They're gone. I found a letter for both of us in the kitchen. They left for India while we were out all night. Totally responsible parenting."

"So what should we do Kanata?"

"For now, I guess we go inside and try to figure out what we should do for now."

That's when Kanata's stomach grumbles making Miyu giggle before she spoke.

"And let's have some breakfast."

They head inside and Miyu head's to the room Grandmother Ki and Hosho-san had decorated in a simple Japanese style in green. She even had a green vase that she had put some pretty pink flowers from Grandmother Ki's garden. Miyu laid Ruu down on her futon and he turned over in his sleep and let out a cute little sound. Keeping her door slightly ajar, she headed to the kitchen to find Kanata cooking up a storm. She sat down at the table, enjoying watching him work. Soon, Kanata put down a large helping of fried rice, perfectly rolled eggs, and miso soup.

"Wow! This looks amazing!"

Kanata beamed with pride.

"Well, I usually don't make so much, but I figured we needed something filling and it's also an apology for how I acted earlier. I didn't mean what I said about you're singing."

Miyu smiled at him before she spoke.

"Apology accepted."

As they sat down together and enjoyed Kanata's breakfast, suddenly, something strange floated between them. They both looked up to see Ruu floating sleepily over the table, sucking on his fingers. In an instant they both dropped their chopsticks and faces were totally pale. A couple of minutes passed and Ruu landed on the table, trying to wake up looking sleepily at Miyu and Kanata. That's when his face brightened and he half floated, half jumped to Miyu and spoke.

"Mama!"

That's snapped them both out of their shock as Miyu spoke.

"Mama?"

Then Ruu looked at at Kanata and smiled even brighter at him before he spoke again.

"Papa!"

"P-Papa!?"

Kanata answered in a stutter.

"Kya!"

Ruu replied in his happy baby language. Kanata and Miyu spoke at the same time while looking at each other shocked and confused.

"WHY?!"
