"Everything looks good" Dr. Thomason moved the wand around "Baby's in a good

position and you're right on schedule with everything"

"Good" I sighed in relief

"Are you feeling any contractions yet?"

"No"

Esme was thrilled to come with me to the doctor's today. Of course Edward wanted to come but the kids were coming down with a cold and he wanted to stay with them. I think it helped that both Esme and I promised him a full report when we got back.

"Anything else bothering you?" he continued as a sat up

"Nothing major besides my sore back" I laughed "It's getting harder to sleep"

"Well the baby is gaining more weight now. Try to sleep with a pillow under your back; you can try sleeping on your side but most women find that even more uncomfortable"

I nodded as he handed me the pictures of my baby. I had been very careful to try a stay as healthy as possible with this pregnancy and it was paying off.

"Okay well I'll let you get dressed and you're all set to go. I'll see you in four weeks"

"Thank you for letting me come" Esme linked her arm with mine as we walked back to the car

"Thank you for coming" I laughed

When we got back to the house Edward was sitting on the porch with the kids blowing bubbles. I guess it was a good thing that they weren't sick in bed yet.

"Hey love" he smiled seeing us

"Hi" I walked over and kissed his lips

"Everything go okay?" he asked after I took a seat next to him

"Yep, he said everything looks good and I'm right on schedule. He also said that the baby's in the right position"

"Did you ask about your back pain?"

"He said it's normal and I should try to sleep with a pillow under it"

I handed him the pictures that the doctor gave me and lifted Ryan into my lap, snuggling him close. Edward ran his fingers over the pictures and smiled. I loved seeing him so happy and I was happy that I could give him the chance to be a father. I couldn't imagine him doing anything else.

"We'll make sure to keep your back supported then" he turned towards his mother "Thank you for going with her"

I noticed that Esme was completely oblivious to us as she was now blowing bubbles at Abby.

"I loved being able to go" she smiled "But I should probably head back now. Can you give grandma a hug and kiss?"

Abby ran up to hug her and she came over to give Ryan a kiss along with Edward and I. After a little while we rounded the kids up for lunch.

"What do you want for lunch?" I asked them

"Grilled cheese" Abby yelled running into the house

I laughed and we both followed in after our children. Edward went around the stove and prepared their lunch. Keeping hold of Ryan I took a seat at the island.

"Bella, do you want a sandwich?"

"Sure"

"Are you ready to do this tomorrow?" he asked

"I don't think I'll ever be ready"

It was the morning of the service and I was getting Abby ready.

"Mommy why are you sad?" Abby asked as I pulled her coat around

"Do you remember that we told you mommy had two babies in her tummy and one of the babies died?"

"Yes" she nodded

"We'll we decided to give the baby a funeral"

"Funeral?"

"We can say goodbye to the baby one last time" I told her "Now come on"

I met Edward halfway and he reached out to grab my hand. Taking a deep breath I connected my hand with his. It was getting cold outside so I knew the kids wouldn't last long. We walked over to the far end of the yard where early that day Edward had set up the stone earlier. I could already feel myself getting upset and Edward squeezed my hand in encouragement.

"Are you alright?" he asked

"Yes" I nodded "You?"

"This is harder then I thought but I'll be okay" he brought my hand up to kiss it

"We need this" I whispered walking ahead of him

I placed the flowers down next to the stone that was in remembrance of our baby. We had decided on a small garden in the backyard and not to make a fuss over things. It was just us and the kids. They really had no idea what was going on but it was nice having them here. I kneeled down next to stone and silently cried.

"Do you want to say something to the baby?" Edward kneeled down next to Abby

"I give the baby a kiss goodbye"

She blew a kiss at the grave and I wiped the tears that were now falling. Edward kissed her cheek, leaning on her head.

"That was very sweet" he told her

With that she took Ryan's hand and they crawled around the yard. I turned back towards the stone and sat on the grass. Edward followed and brought me into his lap, wrapping his arms around me. I sniffed, thinking about what I wanted to say. Thankfully, Edward started.

"Your mommy and daddy love you very much. Your whole family loves you. I'm so sorry that you couldn't be here so we could show you how much we love you"

"I love you so much" I whispered "Even though I never got to meet you, I could feel you in my tummy and you were already my baby. I'm so sorry that I couldn't protect you. That I couldn't save you from this. My one job was to keep you safe and I failed"

We sat quietly just enjoying the silence. Both Abby and Ryan were being surprisingly good, just lying in the grass. After a while the air was getting cold and Edward untangled himself from me to bring the kids in.

"I'll give you a little alone time" was all he said

I took this time to be thankful for what I have. We may have lost a baby but we still have one coming that we need to love and protect. I couldn't loose sight of that. This was definitely the closure that we both needed. I could see that as much as Edward didn't want to admit, he needed this.

"Sweetheart, I don't want to rush you but its getting cold out"

He walked over and wrapped his arms around my chest, lifting me up. he carried me into the house.

"Thank you" I whispered kissing him "We needed this"
