It was so nice to wake up next to Edward the next morning. Dinner had been absolutely gorgeous and delicious. I was sad that we were leaving tomorrow but I couldn't wait to see the kids. I was just lying in my bra and Edward was tracing circles on my stomach.
"Let's make a bet" he said suddenly
"What kind of bet?" I sat up
"Whether it's a boy or girl"
"Does the gender matter?"
"Of course not but I would just like to take a gamble, humor me"
"I have a better idea. Instead of a bet let's just try an old trick to figure it out"
I took his wedding ring of his finger and keened over to pull out a string from my book mark. Edward just watched me confused as I slipped the string through his wedding band.
"What are you doing?" He asked
"You've never heard of this? You dangle the ring above my stomach and if it moves in circles then it's a girl but if it moves side ti side then it's a boy"
"And you believe this?"
"I heard it was very accurate about a 3 in 5 shot"
"How do you know that I won't just move the string myself?"
"Because I trust you"
"Well okay then, lay down"
I laughed and laid straight in my back with my stomach facing straight up. He laughed, he must've thought how ridiculous this was. He dangled the string and we waited patiently but it just sat there. I huffed in disappointment and he laughed again.
"Told you" he said
"Give it a minute" I held up a finger
We both held our breath as we watched the ring move in a circular movement. I gasped in shock that it was actually working.
"Please tell me you aren't doing that" I pleaded
"I swear I'm not"
I looked up at his face and saw that he was as shocked as I was. So we were having a girl, or so it looked like. We couldn't be hundred percent.
"I really thought it was a boy"
"And I thought it was a girl. You're always wrong so I'm still going with girl"
"I still say boy" I handed him back his ring
He laughed and kissed my cheek before getting out of bed. I heard him go in the bathroom and the shower start. I picked up my book and read a couple pages as I debated whether or not to join him but my stomach was churning uneasily so I joined the toilet instead. As I was heaving Edward poked his head out of the shower concerned.
"Are you alright?"
"Just peachy" I gave him a thumbs up
He shut the water off and quickly wrapped a towel around his waist to join me.
"I'm fine you didn't have to stop your shower"
"I was done anyways" he rubbed my back "I can't believe you still have morning sickness"
"I heard if it's a girl you have morning sickness through the whole pregnancy"
"Oh Bella" he sighed helping me up
"So what's on the list for today?"
"I figured we could just walk around and enjoy the city"
"Sounds good to me"
I ran into the room and threw on flowy dress and rain boots to match. I knew it was going to rain so I came prepared.
"It's chilly out" Edward came in holding my rain jacket
"I know but I like my dress and it goes with my boots"
"Okay then let's go" he reached for my hand
I noticed that Edward was looking pretty good too. He was wearing dark wash jeans and a sculpted white V-neck paired with a black rain jacket. Not to mention that his hair was perfectly tousled and he smelled intoxicating. He looked so good right now and I almost wanted to go back to the bedroom. It was only drizzling when we got outside so Edward flipped my hood on for me.
"Can we go shopping?"
"Sure"
I looked around the streets and noticed that even though it was raining, a lot of people were out. I easily worked my way through the crowd and found a cute little gift shop on the corner of the street.
"Bella, wait for me please!" he called out panicked
I rolled my eyes and turned to wait. He came running through the crowd and grabbed my hand in the process.
"I'm right here"
""I don't feel like losing you in another country"
"Edward you can find my scent in a heartbeat"
He didn't answer but lead me into the little shop. There was a nice elder lady who seemed excited to have customers.
"Hello can I help you find anything?" she asked in an accent
"No, thank you just looking" I said
There were shelves beyond shelves of various knick knacks but nothing was really popping out at me. I picked up what looked like a cheap replica of the Eiffel tower made out of wood. As I turned it around the bottom leg fell off.
"Whoops" I whispered "Excuse me, how much is this?"
"$30" she answered
$30 for this? It was breaking and looked like the wood was rotting away. The other leg fell off so I quickly put it down and moved on.
"See anything?" Edward asked
"No"
I worked my up to the front of the store, grabbed Edward's hand, and led him out thanking the lady in the process.
"She creeped me out" I shivered
"I don't think she was right in the head. Her thoughts were all over the place"
As we made our way back onto the street the rain started to pick up. I stomped in the puddles as we went, acting like a little kid again. I played the role of serious mom way to much lately. We ended up browsing through a few more stores and a got a couple of souvenirs for the kids. I was going to buy one for the whole family but Edward assured me that they didn't need anything and if the wanted something they could just run here.
"Time to head back?" he asked after a while
"Yes" I yawned
His arm wrapped around my waist as he guided me through the rain. Instead of traveling through the rain we waited for a trolley to pull up.
"I've never been on one of these" I laughed as he helped me up
"Well now you have, just hold on" he laughed
The trolley halted forward and I stumbled slightly. I wasn't used to standing on a moving vehicle.
"Don't fall"
"Ha-ha" I mocked
Once we got back to the hotel I collapsed on the bed. I never thought a mattress could feel so good but I was exhausted. Being pregnant was really getting to me now. Edward jumped on next to me causing the bed to shake. His arms wrapped around me and he snuggled his face into me.
"Are you tired already?" he asked
"Your baby is telling me to sleep"
"Why don't you take this off first?"
He reached behind me to unzip my dress and let it fall from my shoulder. I quickly covered myself back up in the comforter and closed my eyes.
"I'm going to get a head start on the packing okay. Don't wait up"
"I won't" I yawned
I must've fallen asleep rather quickly because I didn't even hear him until the next morning. I was really sad to leave but I couldn't wait to see my babies. Edward was loading up the taxi with our luggage and I was still getting ready. These past couple of days have been amazing and I loved being alone with him. This was just what we needed before the new baby.
"All right let's go" he called out
Throwing my jacket on I met him outside by the car. He grabbed my bag from me and put it in the trunk. Sliding into the car I closed my eyes. Edward climbed in next to me and grasped my hand.
"Did you have fun?" he asked
"Yep. I loved being alone with you and I loved that we came to Paris. This place has always been on my bucket list"
"I'm glad you enjoyed yourself" he kissed my head
"Thank you" I whispered
