I know I say this is a lot but sorry it took so long. I always have an idea of what I want to happen with the Volturi but when I start writing it never sounds right. It always sounds cheesy and out of character for them. Well, anyways hope you like it and thanks for the constant review. It makes me hurry up!
I sat on the hotel bed quietly rocking Joshua to sleep. The rest of the family was planning on how we were going to approach them and I was very agitated so I tried to keep my mind focused on the baby in my arms. When they started to talk about what would happen if a fight broke out I tried to drown them out.
"Maybe we should go in the other room" Edward whispered
"I'm okay" I promised
He walked over to me and leaned down so I had to look at him. He placed a hand on my knee and his touch alone had me relaxing.
"Everything will be fine, we're just trying to plan for every scenario"
"I know" I whispered "I'm going to go put him down"
"Okay" he sighed and helped me up
I walked into the connecting bedroom and carefully laid my sleeping son in the crib. He looked so innocent and peaceful just lying there. Why would anyone want to hurt a little baby? The thought of anyone touching him…
"Are you okay?" he whispered winding his arms around me
"You scared me" I gasped
"Sorry" he kissed the inside of my neck "Everyone went hunting and it's late so you could get some rest"
"I don't think I'll be able to sleep"
"At least try"
"Only if you lay with me"
"That can be arranged"
He kissed my neck and led me over to the bed. It felt so great to just sit and sprawl out on the bed, maybe I could fall asleep. I guess I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew I rolled over and it was the middle of the night.
"What time is it?" I asked
"A little after 1"
"I can't sleep" I rolled over
"I know" he laughed "You've been rolling around for the last hour"
I scooted myself closer to him and wrapped my arms around his torso. My eyes never left Joshua sleeping soundly in the crib next to us.
"What do you think will happen tomorrow?"
"I really have no idea but I need you to listen to me and not argue"
"I'm scared" I squeezed him
"I am too but I'm hoping for the best"
"What if Aro tries to take him or…"
"He won't" he kissed my forehead
I truly did trust Edward that no harm would come to us but Aro was the one I didn't trust.
"How are you feeling?" he asked
"Fine why?"
"Well you've been under a lot of stress lately and haven't been sleeping much and you just had a baby. You should be resting and enjoying him"
"I feel well rested because I have the best husband in the world and we'll get plenty of time to enjoy him when I know he's safe"
As if on cue Joshua made a fussing noise so Edward moved to get him. His bright eyes were staring up at us and he gave a little smile.
"My beautiful baby boy" I whispered and grabbed his hand
"Why would anyone want to hurt an innocent baby?" he asked
"We don't know that's what they want"
It's the Volturi, that's what they always want"
It was the morning and my nerves were kicking onto over drive. I became very protective of the baby that was in my arms. I wouldn't let anyone hold him, not even Edward. I thought that if I was the one to hold him that no one could hurt him. Could you imagine me trying to fend off the Volturi? We were now walking through the plaza and the few people that were out this early were giving us strange looks. Maybe it's because I was walking with a group of security surrounding me.
"Bella, remember to stay behind me" he whispered and I reached out to grab his hand
"I will"
"If he makes the slightest move toward you…"
"Please don't finish that sentence"
That got a small smile out of him but not enough that it got one out of me. It was a long walk to the room that held our worst nightmare but I knew it had to be done. We arrived at the big metal doors and before Carlisle could even knock the doors opened.
"He must have heard us" Carlisle said
"Everyone remember the plan. No one gets near Bella and the baby. There needs to be someone in front or in back of them at all times"
"Don't worry bro, they won't be touched" Emmett nodded at him
Before we entered, we positioned ourselves. Carlisle stood in front with Edward trailing behind who had a tight grip on me. Emmett and Jasper stood on either side of me while Rosalie and Alice stayed behind. I tightened my grip on Joshua who was now asleep and I hoped it remained that way so he'd have no memory of this. We made our way into the big room and I tensed up. There he was, standing front in center and smiling at us.
"To what do I owe this pleasure?" Aro clapped his hands together
"Hello Aro" Carlisle was the first to speak "We have a few matters to discuss"
"I see we brought everyone along today. Hello Isabella"
Edward squeezed my hand comfortingly.
"As you know Bella and Edward have had another son and we thought it would be in everyone's best interest if we introduced you to him and show you that these children are no harm"
"Well that's debatable but I'm open for negotiation" he hissed
Joshua made a loud whining sound that caused me to jump but Aro to look curiously at me. I held his pacifier in his mouth but Aro was already next to Edward trying to get a glance at our son. Edward tried to block his view but Aro held his hand out.
"May I?" He seethed taking a step closer to us holding his hands out like he wanted to hold the baby
Edward reacted by taking a step forward and I took a step back, causing me to bump into Emmett. He placed his hands on my shoulders and moved me behind him so I was in front of Jasper and Alice. I didn't like not being able to see Edward and it was making me nervous.
"Edward you know I mean your son no harm"
"Do I?" he asked and I tried to peek around Emmett to see
"I would only like to see the child"
"Why?" Edward growled back
"Curiosity" he shrugged "How can I know he no harm if you won't let me look at him?"
I took a step back and brought Joshua closer to my chest. I knew Edward would never let anything happen to him but I also knew that Aro always got what he wanted. Thankfully before Edward could jump at his throat Carlsie cut in.
"You see Aro It was actually Bella's idea that we arrange this meeting so we could avoid further confrontation. All we want to do is show you that my grandson is no harm to you or our world, none of my grandchildren are"
"That can't be known" he hissed "You also said young Bella would be changed, you Cullens can't be trusted"
"As soon as Joshua is old enough where he doesn't need me 24/7, I will be changed. You have my word"
"Your word means nothing to us!" Caius hissed, staring daggers at me which caused Jasper to block his view
Aro held his hand up to Caius "Now there's no need to get angry. I see we have a name for the young one"
I wish I hadn't given him that information but now that I had, I just nodded in agreement.
"Well then I must meet him" Aro looked at me
Edward looked back at me and I knew there was no way we were getting out of here without Aro seeing him, Edward knew that too. Very carefully my bodyguards moved away from me and Edward grabbed my hand bringing me forward. Once we were in front of him and the rest of the family positioned themselves in back of us, I moved Joshua so he was lying face up in my arms. Aro clapped his hands together obviously excited that he was seeing him. The rest of the guard inched forward also curious to see Joshua.
"My, he's brand new. Only a couple days old huh?"
"Yes" I said
Edward kept his hand on my back and also on Joshua since Aro seemed to be moving closer. Joshua stared up at him but never cried. If only he knew just how dangerous this situation was.
"What a beauty. Just like his mother" he continued "I can see why you would do anything to protect him"
"And you can also see that he is no harm to you" Edward said "And now you saw him so I think it's time we go"
"I would like to hold him" Aro said
"That's not going to happen" Edward growled and Carlisle stood in front of him
"But his blood is so innocent, so pure. I can barely control myself" he swallowed back the venom and took a step closer
Everything happened so fast. I was immediately pushed back and I lost my view of anything happening outside my bubble. I heard a lot of growling so all I did was cover Joshua and my eyes. This was my worst nightmare happening, I didn't want to open my eyes out of fear what I would see. Who would be left? Then something happened. Joshua let out a cry that I never heard before, it almost sounded like a scream. Everything seemed to stop and all the vampires in the room and made them cover their ears.
"What's happening?" Edward yelled over his cry
"I don't know" I told him
I brought Joshua up on my shoulder and tried to get him to calm down. Once his crying ceased everyone seemed to recover and they straightened up.
"I told you these children are dangerous"
"He's not dangerous we didn't even know he could do that" I argued
"The child is gifted and he too shall soon join us" Aro said "Just like Edward, Alice, and you my dear
Isabella"
"Bella let's go" Edward wrapped an arm around my waist and began to lead us out but not before Aro could make one last comment
"You may go for now but do know that we will see you again. Thank you for your visit"
Without another word I was whisked out of the room and into the alley. I had no idea what was happening or why my son suddenly caused 9 vampires some sort of pain.
"I don't know what's happening" I cried, my chest felt like it was tightening up
"Bella breathe" Edward panicked "Take a deep breath"
"This was such a bad idea" I gasped "Why didn't you stop me?"
Joshua disappeared from my arms and Edward was now taking me in his. I noticed that I was on the floor and almost on the verge of a panic attack.
"What happened? How did he do that?"
"Sweetheart, we can worry about that later but right now we need to get out of here" Carlisle tried t0 get through to me
"I want to go home"
"We are love" he kissed my cheek "Come on"
He had to help me up and over to the street, as far away as possible from the Volturi. I can't believe that Aro actually thought I was going to let him hold my baby.
"Where's Joshua?" I panicked
"Rosalie has him. Let's get back to the hotel first please"
Once we were back at the hotel I kind of drowned everyone out. I excused myself to other room and no one dared to follow because I told them I was going to feed Joshua.
"Well my baby boy you just had to show your special talent to Aro didn't you?" I laughed while he was feeding "Mommy would've like if you could keep that to yourself. But don't worry nothing bad will ever happen to you. You're a very special boy and those mean vampires will never dare to lay one finger on you. Once mommy is changed no one could even touch you if they wanted to. No one will ever hurt any of you, not you, Ryan, or Abby. I promise"
So we were ending our trip rather abruptly but I was one with that. I wanted to get Joshua home where he was safe. I missed Abby and Ryan and wanted to get back to our normal schedule.
"Everything will be fine now" Edward interrupted me
"I know"
I knew that wasn't true. We had just found out that Joshua has a talent, the Volturi still want us all to join them, and not to mention my change was happening in a few short months. Our problem were far from over.
