The moment is chosen actually quite randomly; they are sitting in her Cadillac, riding back from the crime scene to ops. It's been weeks since their partnership eloped into a relationship, to partners in every sense, lovers. The feeling of being drunk in love is still running high in both their bodies and minds, and there goes not one moment where they don't have contact - shoulder brushes, arms wrapped around each other, hand holding, lip locking. It's all there, even more reason his question throws her off guard.
"Can i kiss you?" He asks, out of the blue, in an unusual place and time.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean to ask, if i can kiss you." He repeats, no undertone or anything indicating his question.
"Deeks you have kissed me before." She laughs. "Quite often i might add, and for quite some time. Does 'all in' ring a bell?" She teases.
"I know but i never asked before i kissed you."
"Okay, true - but why ask now? I mean we're already together and we more than just kissing ever since All In and Mammoth... i don't understand-" he shakes his head and cuts her off.
"I know it's stupid... but every time i kissed you before we were together.. i didn't ask you... and the next thing i know is that either i get tortured or you get shipped off to Afghanistan." And just like that the teasing moment is gone.
"Deeks.."
"I know it wasn't the reason for what happened to either of us, but i feel that because i didn't ask you all these times that maybe something will happen again. So i really need to know if i can kiss you." He explains, thinking she will probably don't take him serious, even he himself knows how silly this sounds. But she parks the car at ops and turns to fully look at him.
"Yes Marty Deeks, you can kiss me. You can kiss me all you want, as long as i am allowed to kiss you too." She looks him dead serious in the eye.
"Of course you are."
"Good." With that she pulls him in a kiss, letting him forget his worries.
"Just to be clear, i asked to kiss you, not for you to kiss me." He adds when they part for air.
"Well you wouldn't just kiss me even though i said yes, so I had to take care of that mys-" And just like that he's back to her Deeks, kissing her without any warning and shutting her up mid sentence. But she wouldn't want him any other way.
