Hey everyone! I am so sorry this took so long, but I did write the rest of season 2! I definitely have a lot of ideas for season three and I hope you like them!
I sat in the corner of the cell and clutched the dagger in my hands as I waited. It took a while, but Elijah finally woke with a gasp. Running over to his side, I said his name, but he just stared at me. "Katerina." He stated.
"Elijah, it's me. It's Erin, shh." I tried to calm him down, and it looked like it worked. But then, his body started contorting, and he vampire sped towards the wall. "I can't breathe. What's happening to me? I can't be in this house."
Finally figuring it out, I deduced, "You're not invited in." Elijah then pleaded with me, "Get me out of here." I nodded and was about to help him up the stairs, but was already running to the door. I chased after him with the dagger in my hand, and I found him crouched at the entrance of the house.
We locked eyes before he attempted to run towards me, but he was blocked by the barrier. "What happened?" He asked, and I quickly put a finger to my lips and gestured to the upstairs. If Damon or Stefan knew I was doing this, they'd put me on lockdown. He seemed to get the memo as he quieted down.
I whispered, knowing he would hear me perfectly, "I'll tell you, just not here. Can I trust you?" I already knew I could trust him, but I needed to clarify in case he did something stupid. Elijah got as close as he could and retorted, "Can I trust you?"
I nodded and handed him the dagger.
Stefan woke up alone and could not find his girlfriend. He walked downstairs and called, "Erin?" Stefan spotted Andie sipping her coffee and asked, "Hey, have you seen Erin?" She denied it, and Damon strolled downstairs. He and Andie kissed while Stefan looked on in disgust.
"Hey, where's Erin?" Stefan questioned his brother as Elena walked downstairs. "I don't know, brother. She's your girlfriend, mine's right here." Damon replied, and Elena gave them all questioning glances. Stefan tried to call Erin, but she ignored it.
"What are you doing? She's a human, not a little wind up chew toy." Elena sneered at Damon, but Andie snapped back at the girl, "It's really none of your business, is it Elena?" Stefan scoffed at the exchange and looked around.
The vampire found the basement door ajar, and he hustled down the stars with Elena and Damon behind him. They all reached the cell, and sagged at the empty room. "Oh no she didn't." Damon commented.
I pulled over to the side of the road, determining that it was safe enough for now. Elijah, drinking from a blood bag, sat in the passenger's seat of my car. "You look a lot better, you just need a new suit." I remarked, and he questioned me, "Where did you get the dagger?"
"Elijah, I promise I will tell you everything. You probably hate me right now, but we need to work together. I need your word." I told him, and he wouldn't meet me eyes. I felt horrible for the part I played in his 'death' and I wanted to make it right.
"Your ability to make demands is long since surpassed." Elijah stated, and I nodded. "I know that. This isn't a demand. This is me offering my help in exchange for yours." I honestly spoke, and he finally looked at me as he asked, "And why should I even consider this?"
I didn't want to lie anymore, to anyone. "The same reason you haven't killed me. You need my help to kill Klaus, and I need you. So please don't make me beg because I will." The Original smiled a little at that, but my phone rang, interrupting us.
I begrudgingly picked it up and answered Stefan. "Where are you? Are you okay?" He questioned me immediately. "Yeah, I'm fine." I shortly responded and I could tell Stefan was frantic. "Where's Elijah?" He asked, but I would give him no details.
"He's right here." I stated, and when Stefan said he was on his way, I ordered, "No, Stefan. Elijah and I need to talk alone." My boyfriend babbled that Elijah couldn't be trusted, and I replied, "Elijah is a man of honor, Stefan. He proved his trust to me before we daggered him, and I would be incredibly stupid to cross him again. By removing the dagger, I have proven myself."
Stefan sighed into the phone, "You can't do this alone." "Just trust me, Stef. We've all done bad things, but are we really going to be hypocrites and condemn someone for not being loyal to us? This is my decision, and I at least need you to respect it. I'll be in touch, and make sure Damon doesn't do anything stupid."
Then, I hung up on him and placed my phone in Elijah's hand. He could trust me.
"Did she just hang up on you?" Damon asked his brother. Elena sat next to Damon on the couch across from Stefan and they watched as he called Erin. "She did." Stefan confirmed, and Damon remarked, "She's lost it."
Elena defended her sister, "If anyone's going to get Elijah to help us kill Klaus, it's her. Elijah totally likes her." Damon ignored the last part of what Elena said and argued, "Bonnie's the way to kill Klaus. He thinks she's dead, we have a chance with her."
"She'll kill herself in the process; Erin's looking for another way." Stefan explained to his brother who could not get that through his thick skull. Damon told them both, "Her way is going to get her killed, so we need to find her and stop her."
Stefan told his brother to back off, and Elena elaborated, "Look, none of us like this at all, but you two need to trust my sister. She will get this done if you let her do her thing." Damon stated in reply, "That may be your plan, but mine's better." Erin's boyfriend grabbed his brother's arm before he walked away and sneered, "I said back off."
In the car, I started to tell Elijah everything that happened. "He's here." I stated, and Elijah repeated, "Klaus is here?" I nodded in response and moved to face the Original. "He's taken over Alaric's body. I don't know what happened and I need to get Alaric back."
Elijah gave me a sympathetic look and spoke, "It's okay, Erin. You will get him back. It's one of Klaus' favorite tricks." I responded quickly, "What are his other tricks? What is he going to do next? You're the only one who knows him, Elijah." He muttered something to himself before directing me to the Lockwoods.
We arrived at the Lockwood Mansion, and Elijah rang the doorbell. Poor Mrs Lockwood answered, "Elijah, Erin. What are you doing here? What happened?" Elijah, being the smooth man that he was, replied, "We had a bit of an accident, Carol. I'm hoping you could help."
She was about to run out the door, but Elijah compelled her. We walked inside and Elijah listed, "Well, first things first, I'm going to need a change of clothing." When Carol left to grab some suits, I turned to Elijah and stated, "You got her off vervain before, didn't you?"
"Right before you and your friends killed me, twice. You're perceptive as always, Erin." He replied and excused himself before following Carol upstairs. A few minutes later, the Original returned in a new suit and sat down across from me.
Elijah spoke, "So, I assume the Martin witches are no longer with us." I answered his guess with, "No, I'm sorry. They weren't supposed to get hurt." The Original nodded and moved on from that subject as he asked, "And Katerina? She would have been released from my compulsion when I died."
I started, "Klaus took her; they all think she's dead." Elijah quirked an eyebrow at that, and questioned me, "And what about you?" I shrugged and responded with my own opinion, "I doubt it, if Klaus is some sort of evil monster, he would want his revenge. Katherine turned herself and ran for 500 years. He probably wants her death to last at least half that."
The man across from me smirked a bit and added, "You're absolutely right. It's not Klaus' style, death would be too easy for her after what she did." I furrowed my brow and pointed at him. "You say that you want Klaus dead, but you still made Katherine pay for betraying him. Why?"
He began to tell his story, "I have my own reasons for wanting Katerina to pay. There was a time where I would have done anything for Klaus. Klaus is my brother." My mouth dropped as everything started to click in my brain, it made sense. "I heard that, I'm still processing."
"I am a little behind on the times, but I believe the term you're searching for is 'OMG'." Elijah stated, and that made me laugh. "A little? Try a lot." I commented and smiled at him. He sipped his tea and continued to tell me about his family.
"Wait, so there's a whole family of Originals?" I questioned the vampire, who looked at himself in the mirror. "My father was a wealthy landowner in Eastern Europe, our mother bore seven children." He told, and my eyes widened. Seven Originals?!
I kept my questions coming, trying to absorb as much information as possible. "So you and your parents were human?" Elijah nodded, and I exclaimed, "That is so cool!" The man in front of me smiled, and he drawled, "Our origins as vampires is a very long story, Erin. Just know that we're the oldest vampires in the world. We are the Original Family, from us all vampires were created."
"Promise you'll tell me the full story one day. After all of this is over, I want to know." I softly said, and the Original stared at me for a moment before replying, "You have my word." Smiling a little bit, "Anyways, Klaus is your brother. I know sometimes I want to kill my siblings, but I would never actually do it. What did he do that was so bad?"
Elijah dodged the question by stating, "I want some air. I'm still feeling a tad dead." He walked outside, and I decided to follow him.
Damon stood outside the door while Andie walked into Alaric's apartment where Katherine was. "What are you doing here?" Katherine questioned them. She had certainly not expected any of the Scooby doo gang to show up, especially not Damon. This was certainly a surprise.
"We're here to rescue you." Damon's 'girlfriend', Andie, told the Erin look-a-like. The blonde marveled at the vampire and the uncanny resemblance to Elena and Erin. Damon, still not able to go in the apartment, corrected his blood bag, "No, sweetie, we are here to see if she deserves to be rescued."
Andie went to snoop while Damon spoke, "You know, I didn't want to believe Erin. She thought you would still be fighting. Alaric-Klaus was blending way too easily, so she thought he probably had some coaching." It turns out Erin was right after all, like always.
"Is that-?" Katherine was cut off by Damon, who answered, "Vervain. Aka, your salvation." The doppleganger shook her head and replied, "It's not going to do anything." Damon negated her statement and countered, "There's always a loophole. Did he tell you to stay in the apartment till he said it's okay to leave?"
She opened her mouth to answer, but nothing came out. Damon surmised, "You can't say. Did he tell you to do absolutely everything he says until the end of time?" When Katherine snapped a decline at his question, he stated, "There's your loophole. Drink this, and it will prevent any further compulsion."
Katherine then stalked up to the dark haired vampire, but he refused to give it to her, "Answer one question first. You double crossed us with Isobel. And you were going to hand Erin, the one person I actually thought you gave a damn about, to Klaus. Why?"
"I didn't think you would stand a chance against Klaus. I was looking out of myself, Erin can understand that." She retorted, and Damon glared at her before tossing Katherine the bottle of vervain. Before Katherine drank from it, Damon warned, "Be careful with that. If Klaus finds out you have it, you will never get out of here."
The vampire sipped it and coughed at the burning sensation in her throat. "You owe me, and I will come to collect." Damon and Andie then left Katherine by herself in the apartment.
Erin followed closely alongside Elijah as they walked through the Lockwood grounds. "As you've seen, nothing can kill an Original. Not sun, not fire, not even a werewolf bite. Only the wood from one tree, a tree my family made sure was burned."
It clicked as I deduced, "That's where the ash from the dagger comes from." Elijah then confirmed, "Yes. The witches will not let something truly immortal walk this earth. Every creature needs to have a weakness in order to achieve balance."
Starting to get fed up, I asked the Original, "If the sun doesn't affect him, then why is Klaus obsessed with breaking the sun and moon curse?" We made our way to the little bridge as Elijah smiled at me, "The curse of the sun and the moon. It all sounds so biblical sounding, doesn't it?"
I raised an eyebrow at him and stated, "If you know something, say it because you sound like-" "Like what?" He challenged me with a playful smirk on his lips. His smile seemed magical in a way that could touch people, but I shook those thoughts off as I finished, "Like you had a very special hand in it's creation."
He told his story, and I repeated, "So, Klaus drew the Aztec sketches for the curse." The Original listed off, "Roman scrolls, African tribal etchings, and any other culture or continent we felt like planting it in." They made it all up. Elijah continued on the subject as I put the pieces together, "The easiest way to locate a doppleganger or to get your hands on a long lost moonstone is to have every single member of two warring species on the lookout."
I finally spoke up and stated, "So the curse of the sun and the moon is fake." He nodded and repeated, "It doesn't exist. You're a very clever girl, Erin." Elijah then stepped over the bridge, and I followed.
"Klaus and I faked the sun and the moon curse dating back a thousand years." He told, and I grew confused at his suggestions. "But if there's no curseā¦" I trailed off, and he negated my statement. "There is a curse, just not that one. The real one is much worse, it's a curse placed on Klaus."
I had no idea what he was talking about, and he spoke, "Klaus has been trying to break it for one thousand years, and you are his only hope." I gave up thinking and simply asked, "Well, what's this curse?"
Elijah did not respond to my question, and he reached into his pocket and pulled my phone out. "Your phone will not stop its incessant buzzing. Answer it, please." I took my phone and did as he said. My boyfriend was calling me, "Stefan-"
He cut me off by explaining to me what happened between Klaus and Jenna. She knew. "No, no, no. Okay, I'll be right there." I quickly hung up the phone and told Elijah, "Klaus went after Jenna, I have to go to her."
"I'm afraid that was not part of today's arrangement." He commented with a stoic look on his face. I argued, "She's my family, Elijah. I have to. I'll be back, you have my word." We stared at each other for a moment before he stated, "That doesn't mean anything to me until you live up to it." I whispered a thank you to him before sprinting to my car.
When I arrived at the Boarding House, Elena immediately approached me. "I tried talking to her, but she won't say anything. She just keeps crying, you should talk to her." I nodded at my sister and hurried to find Jenna.
I walked into the library and saw my aunt. "Oh, Jenna thank god." I saw the way she flinched at me and I apologized, "I am so sorry, I never meant for any of this to happen." Jenna then admitted to me, "When I was little, your mom used to tell me bedtime stories. Stories about vampires. I never thought that what she said could be true."
"It is true, Jenna. I should have told you." I confirmed to my aunt, and I sat down next to her. "I thought that if you didn't know, you'd be safe. But then things got so out of control, and everything I had done to keep you out of it just blew up in my face."
Staying quiet, I was questioned by Jenna, "Who else knows? Jeremy? John?" I nodded and replied, "We were just trying to protect you. You don't deserve this, Jenna." She reiterated what I said, and I spoke, "I am so sorry, I will tell you everything."
"No, Erin. I am supposed to be the one protecting you, Elena, and Jeremy." Jenna tried to argue, and I replied, "I know, Jenna, but there's nothing you could have done. There is so much more to it." My aunt kept saying no, and I just held her hand.
Jenna then snapped, "Why didn't you tell me?" I was silent as tears came to my eyes as everything came crashing down. "I'm scared." She stated, and I hugged her. "I know. I'm sorry, Jenna. I am so, so sorry."
I closed the door and saw that Stefan and Elena were waiting for me. "Is she okay?" Elena asked, and I shrugged. "She's still in shock." I continued and spoke to both of them, "I tried to tell her what I could, but I barely scratched the surface. There's so much more she needs to know."
Stefan then apologized, "I'm so sorry, Erin. I hate this." I held my boyfriend's hand and admitted, "It's not your fault, Stefan. It's mine. And I'm going to fix it. I need to get back to Elijah." I tried to step around Stefan, but he stopped me.
"What? No, no." He said, and I tried to show him reason, "It's okay, Stefan, he won't hurt me. I promised him I would return, I can't break that promise." Stefan's eyes showed me that he would let me go, and I pecked his cheek and whispered, "I'll be okay."
Unfortunately, Damon then strolled down the stairs with Andie. "Where do you think you're going?" He questioned me, and I rolled my eyes before saying, "Back to Elijah." I flinched when he sped towards me and stated, "No."
Elena then snapped behind me, "Get out of her way, Damon." I failed to walk towards the door, for Damon grabbed me and held onto my arm. "You so much as take a step out of this house." He threatened, but I was not fazed. I glared at him as Andie warned, "Damon, easy."
The raven haired vampire snapped, "Stay out of this, Andie." Stefan came up beside me and said, "Let her go." When Damon complained he just got me back, Stefan latched onto Damon's hand and sneered, "I said 'let her go'."
The brothers had a little spat in front of me as Damon growled, "That's twice today you've gotten in my way, I wouldn't try a third." After Damon took his hand off of me, I strutted out the door and into my car.
I walked straight into the Lockwood Mansion and saw Elijah in the living room. I took off my jacket and threw it on the couch. "Tell me, what is Klaus' curse?" I ordered, and Elijah looked amused. He motioned for me to sit, and I did.
"My family was quite close. Klaus and my father did not get along, though. When we became vampires, we discovered the truth. Klaus was not my father's son. My mother had been unfaithful before, this was her darkest secret. Klaus was from a different bloodline. When my father discovered this, he hunted down and he killed my mother's lover and his entire family. Not realizing that, of course, he was igniting a war between the species that remains to this day."
I took in the knowledge and sort of put everything together, "A war between the species? Like werewolves and vampires?" Elijah looked impressed, and he stated, "You're absolutely right. Klaus' father was from a werewolf bloodline." I asked if which species Klaus was, and Elijah answered, "He's both."
"A hybrid would be deadlier than any werewolf or vampire. Nature would not stand for such an imbalance of power. Therefore, the witches, servants of nature, sought to end it so my brother's werewolf side would become dormant." Elijah supplied and the news still shook me to my core.
"That's the curse Klaus wants to break. He wants to trigger the part of him that's a werewolf." I surmised, and Elijah added on. "If allowed, Klaus would be able to sire his own species, build his own race. Endangeing, not only vampires but everyone."
I stood up from my spot on the couch and pointed out to the Original, "But you helped him." Elijah retorted, "I helped him because I loved him. I'm sure you can understand, but that has changed, now he must die."
Sighing, I voiced my thoughts, "The dagger won't work on him then, right? It's made of silver, and when a wolf is wounded with silver, it heals. So, Klaus can't be killed. That's great, really." I walked next to him and leaned on the wall as he assured me.
"There is one way to kill him, and that's at the hands of the servants of nature themselves." Elijah stated, and I said, "A witch, if they can channel that much power." I took in a breath as I told him to explain.
Elijah revealed, "The sacrifice is on the full moon. When he is in transition, that's when he's most vulnerable. A witch with enough power can kill Klaus." I came up with an idea and bargained, "What if I told you I know a witch that could channel enough power."
"Then, I would tell you there is one more thing you should know." Elijah drawled, and he admitted that he could save me. I knew it was smart to trust him. Damn, I was good. I smiled and exhaled, a weight lifted off my shoulders.
The Originals grabbed my coat as he told, "Unfortunately, Katerina took matters into her own hands first. I believe you already know how that played out." I calculated the look on his face and sympathized with him, "You cared about her, didn't you?"
He then turned to me and looked into my eyes, "It's a common mistake, I'm told. It's one I won't make again." Elijah then handed me my coat and walked to my car, leaving me breathless. I quickly regained my composure and left the Lockwood Mansion.
Stefan and Elena witnessed Damon shoo Andie away, and they went up to him. "Tired of your little play thing already?" Stefan taunted his brother, and Elena agreed with Stefan. "Don't start with me, Stefan. She's just my distraction." Damon countered, and Elena scoffed.
"She's a person, you're victimizing her." Elena retorted as she and Stefan were about to leave. They were stopped by Damon's voice, "You two should be thankful she's here. Keeps me from going for what I really want." Elena's stomach dropped when Damon said that, she knew there was going to be a fight now.
Stefan's jaw clenched as he turned around, "You're right. Thank you, Damon, for being in love with my girlfriend." Elena put herself in between the brothers as Damon got up and stated, "And there it is." Stefan repeated that, and told Elena to leave.
"No, you two are better than this. Erin will be back soon, and she'll be pissed to see you guys fighting." Elena argued, but the brothers just got closer anyways. There was nothing Elena could do, she knew that. She also knew she would get hurt if she got caught in the middle of them.
Stefan simply stalked up to his brother and Elena tried to put a hand on his arm. "You know, you can be in love with Erin all you want if it means you'll protect her. But, I will always have something you never will."
"And what's that?" Damon snapped with a smirk on his face. "Her respect." Stefan stated, and then Damon punched his brother. The younger vampire was thrown to the wall, and Elena started yelling. She obviously wasn't getting through to them as Stefan sped to Damon. The two were locked in a headlock when I finally walked in.
"Stop!" I demanded, and the vampires immediately broke up the fight . Elena let out a sigh, relieved, at the sight of me. The brothers glared at Elijah, and Damon was the first to speak up, "Now you've invited him in?"
I stood tall as I replied coolly, "Elijah and I have renewed the terms of our deal." Damon obviously didn't believe me, and Elijah revealed, "The two of you will not come to harm at my hands. I only ask for one thing in return: an apology."
The two vampires looked at each other, and Stefan stepped up. "I'm sorry for the part I played in your death. I was protecting Erin, I will always protect Erin." Elijah nodded, and I felt proud of my boyfriend as Elijah muttered, "I understand."
Looking to Damon, I felt disappointed when he remained silent. I tried to cajole him, "The sacrifice is going to happen, Damon. Bonnie will be able to kill Klaus without sacrificing herself, and Elijah knows how to save my life. I told you I would find another way, and I did."
"Is that true?" Damon questioned, and Elijah confirmed it. "And you're trusting him?" He asked me, and I nodded and admitted, "I am." "You can all go to hell." Damon sneered before going to his room.
Stefan tried to explain what was going on, "He's angry with me right now. But he'll come around." Elijah uttered something I couldn't catch. I felt bad for Damon, but he chose not to believe in me. I didn't need a man or a vampire to save me, I can save myself.
