"Tonight is the full moon, and we should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse." Elijah told Erin, Elena, and Stefan in the living room of the Salvatore Boarding House. Erin and Elena sat together while Stefan was on the seat directly in front of the standing Original. Stefan then pointed out, "Erin said that the Sun and Moon Curse is fake, that it's actually a curse placed on Klaus."

The elder vampire explained, "Klaus is a vampire born from a werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf side from manifesting, but if he breaks it, he'll be a true hybrid." The three nodded in understanding, and a silence fell between the three until Damon walked in. "Then why are we letting him break the curse?" The raven haired vampire continued and stared at Erin, "We can break the curse today, with Bonnie."

Erin shook her head and argued, "No, Damon. Bonnie can't use that much power without dying." Damon then retorted, "Then I'll write her a great eulogy." This made Erin angry, and she snapped, "It's not going to happen, Damon, okay? Bonnie's not dying to save me so get over it." Elena glared at the older brother with hate, no one was dying on her again. Stefan broke the tension by asking how to break the curse.

"The ritual itself is rather straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak, you already know." Elijah spoke. Stefan stated, "The moonstone." The Original explained how a witch would channel the full moon through the stone and release the spell. Next, because Klaus is a werewolf and vampire, he must sacrifice one of each. Erin asked Elijah, "And where do I fit into it?"

Elijah talked as he got out a box, "The final part of the ritual. Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelganger to the point of your death, Erin." Damon's and Elena's eyes widened, and Stefan clutched his girlfriend's hand at the news. Erin remained calm, and she stated optimistically, "And that's where you come in."

Opening the box, Elijah pulled out a glass tumbler filled with a clear liquid. "This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina. It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation." He told, and Elena furrowed her brows in confusion. Erin's twin questioned fearfully, "So she'll be dead?" Elijah replied firmly, "And then she won't."

Damon then responded, "So that's your plan? A magical witch potion with no expiration date? You want to come back to life? What about John's ring?" Erin, surprisingly, didn't think of that, and Elena's ears perked up at the thought. However, Elijah quickly debunked that thought from their heads, "Those rings only work on humans. A doppelganger is a supernatural occurrence, odds are the ring won't work."

"I'll take those odds over your elixir." Damon argued, and then he turned to Erin and continued, "What if it doesn't work, Erin?" The doppelganger sighed and thought about it for a moment before stating, "Then I'll just be dead." Elena put her hand on her sister's arm, comforting her. The vampire brothers looked at each other, one in shock, the other in acceptance and surrender.

Damon shook his head at them all and walked out of the room. Elena took in a deep breath and asked, "Do we know if Klaus has everything he needs to do this? Does he have a werewolf?" Erin answered her sister by pointing out, "Klaus has been trying to break this curse for 1000 years. He probably has everything he needs and more."

Damon drank his bourbon outside, away from the mess. Stefan came up from behind him, "Breakfast of champions, huh?" Damon remarked, "I'm surrounded by idiots, I need all the help I can get." Stefan nodded at that, and he spoke, "You know you're not helping."

"Elijah's an Original vampire, Stefan. One we tried to kill, you gonna believe this guy?" Damon challenged, and Stefan then countered, "What do you want me to do, Damon? Erin made her decision, and she's choosing to trust Elijah again. I'm gonna put my faith in her." The elder brother rolled his eyes and argued, "Why? She's gonna end up dead."

Stefan spread his arms out and huffed as he replied, "Because she put her faith in me. She chose to trust me in spite of what I am. If I'm going to bet on anyone's instincts, it's gonna be hers." When Stefan didn't get a reaction, he continued, "She chose to trust you too."

Damon then countered with glowering eyes, "Maybe you shouldn't be so sure about her instincts." The vampire then shot down his entire glass of alcohol and stalked back into the house.

Elena went to check on Jenna while Erin stayed with Elijah. Erin picked up the elixir container and traced the pattern with her finger. "You'd think they would understand why I'm so willing to do this." She muttered, and the vampire looked into her eyes and asked softly, "Why are you?" The pair stared at each other as the doppelganger spoke, "I'm the key to breaking the curse. He's here because of me. And if I don't stop him, then he's going to hurt people. It's that simple."

"You and Katerina, although you look exactly alike from the hair to the clothes, you're complete opposites. While she is too self centered, you are too selfless. You can't protect absolutely everyone at all times. Sometimes you need to protect yourself." Elijah told her, and Erin opened her mouth to answer but nothing came out. She knew he was right, but she would always try to protect everyone. Even to her dying breath.

Elijah changed the subject by pointing out, "You know, there is a possibility this elixir won't work. I don't want to mislead you." Erin nodded and stated confidently, "I know the chance I'm taking." Before the vampire had a chance to smile at her, the pair heard Jenna and Elena yelling. Stefan and Erin strode up to the chaos, and Erin saw Jenna pointing a crossbow at Alaric.

The man swore that Klaus let him go and that it was him. He proved it by almost sprouting out a dirty little secret about he and Jenna. "And there's one more thing. He said the sacrifice happens tonight." Alaric told them, and Elena looked at Erin with wide eyes.

Jenna, Elijah, Alaric, Erin, Elena, and Stefan all sat in the living room. Stefan was asking Alaric questions about when he was possessed. "So you don't remember anything?" Erin's boyfriend interrogated his teacher. The hunter answered coolly, "I blacked out and woke up three days later. Katherine was there." Stefan explained what Damon did, and Alaric added to Erin, "And she told me to send you a message."

Erin gave him a look that said 'go on', and Alaric finished, "She said stay alive." The doppelganger nodded and asked them, "Where's Damon?" Jenna said she saw him go upstairs, and Erin went up to talk to him.

The girl walked up to Damon's door and stated, "You disappeared." Damon kept his back to the girl he loved, "I didn't want to hear anymore." Erin sighed and continued inside the room, "I need you to understand why I'm doing this, Damon." The raven head then turned towards her and met Erin halfway, "Why? Because it clearly doesn't matter what I think."

"I'll be fine, Damon. I'll drink the elixir, Bonnie will kill Klaus, and I will come back to life. All of this will finally be over." She tried to assure the vampire, but he wasn't having any of it. "If it works." Damon challenged, and Erin stated, "It will work."

"You think it will work, you want it to work. Why am I the only one who's convinced it won't? There has to be another way." Damon ranted, and Erin shrugged before replying, "This is the other way, Damon. There is no other way than this." Damon made his way closer to Erin, and he spoke, "You're gonna die." "And then I'll come back to life." She stated optimistically.

Damon pointed his finger at her, "That is not a risk I'm willing to take." Erin then took his hand in hers and held it. They stared in each other's eyes as she told, "But I am, Damon. It's my life, my choice." Damon admitted to the doppelganger, "I can't lose you." Erin gave the vampire a comforting smile and assured, "You won't." The girl then let go of his hand and started to walk away.

However, she was stopped when Damon sped towards her. "There is another way." He stated, and Erin gave him a confused stare. "What are you-?" She cut herself off when she saw that the vampire had black veins popping out from his eyes. She widened her eyes and figured out what he was going to do, and she pleaded, "No, Damon." The vampire then bit into his wrist and shoved the wound into the girl's mouth. Erin struggled against him, but Damon held the back of her head, forcing the blood down her throat.

Erin choked on the blood and tried not to let it slide down her throat, but she failed. Her screams were muffled by Damon's wrist. Suddenly, the vampire was thrown off her, and Erin fell to the ground. The weight of Damon's actions made her speechless, and the only emotion she could feel was despair. "What did you do, huh? What did you do?" Stefan yelled at his brother, and then he went to his girlfriend.

The girl wiped some of the blood off her face as Damon spoke, "I saved her life. She's so hell bent on dying, at least this way I know you'll come back." Stefan deduced that Erin would come back as a vampire, and Damon defended himself with vulnerable eyes, "It's better than nothing else." His brother questioned, remembering how he took the choice from Damon in 1864. "How could you of all people take that choice away from her?"

Erin started to cry, and Damon told, "Go ahead, wish me an eternity of misery. Believe me, you'll get over it." Stefan then attacked his brother and sent him flying into the corner of the room. Erin knew calling their names or trying to diffuse the situation would do nothing, so she kept quiet and watched the fight unfold. Damon took the broken coat rack and sped up to his younger sibling, "Admit it, you wish you'd have the balls to do it yourself.

Stefan repeatedly punched his brother, who fell to the floor. When Stefan was going to get on final punch in, Damon stabbed him in the stomach with the piece of wood. Erin pushed the raven head off of her boyfriend, and she snarled, "Just leave, Damon. You've already done enough." Alaric, Jenna, and Elena all came into the room and gasped, "What's going on in here."

"Just get him out of here!" Erin ordered, and Alaric went to grab the unstable vampire. Damon walked out of the room, and Alaric told Jenna to get some blood bags. Stefan cried out as Erin quickly pulled out the wood from his stomach. Elena rushed to help her sister and Alaric, who watched the couple. Erin rested her boyfriend's head in her lap, and she shushed him when he repeated, "I'm so sorry."

Damon trudged down stairs where Elijah was. The Original spoke, "It sounds like you won't be needing this anymore. Feeding Erin vampire blood rendered it useless. Tell Erin I'll be back by nightfall, and we'll proceed as planned." Elijah tried to walk out and suppress his anger toward the younger vampire, but he was stopped by Damon's statement, "We both know that elixir wouldn't have worked anyway."

The elder vampire placed the box back down on the table and told, "The problem, Damon, is that you talk a good game but you don't actually know anything. Erin doesn't want his, she would have rather died than become a vampire. You've made an enormous mistake that you can't make up for. She'll never forgive you, and never for a vampire is a very long time."

The Original then walked out, leaving a guilty Damon in his wake.

Stefan finished off his blood bag and thanked the three humans in front of him. Elena, Alaric, and Jenna then left the couple alone to talk. Erin ranted about what had previously occurred, "How could he do this to me? Why?" Stefan kept quiet for a moment and looked at the miserable grimace on his girlfriend's face. He then cupped her cheek and spoke softly, "We've never talked about this. What this all means."

"It doesn't matter." Erin whispered, and Stefan debunked her, "Of course it matters. I want you to go somewhere with me." When she told Stefan she couldn't, he assured Erin, "It's not far. Hey, it's just for the day, I promise." Erin sighed and finally nodded at Stefan.

A little while later, Erin and Stefan walked through the woods. "Where are we?" She asked, and Stefan answered her, "A surprise, it'll only be a little while longer." Erin then kindly reminded her boyfriend that she wasn't a vampire yet. And to that, Stefan questioned, "Are you ready to talk about how you're feeling about all of this?" She shook her head in response and could hear leaves crunching under her feet.

"Uh this morning I was wondering whether I was going to live or die. And now, I'm gonna be a vampire. I...I don't really know how I'm feeling." Erin supplied, and then she stopped as she saw the beautiful landscape. The falls. Stefan stared at Erin for a moment before speaking, "I think you do know how you feel, I just want you to know that you can tell me."

"I can't, Stefan. I just, I-I can't talk about it." The brunette shook her head and stuttered. Stefan tucked a stray hair from his girlfriend's head behind her ear, and he told, "If you don't want to, that's okay. Today's about you." At her silence, Stefan continued, "But, it's a long way to the top, so you never know what might come up." Erin gazed at Stefan with disbelief, "We're climbing all the way up there? Can't you just jump up or carry me?"

Stefan looked at Erin with amusement and retorted, "No way. It's your last day as a human, why cheat now?" The doppelganger smiled and took her boyfriend's hand and informed, "I'll have you know, in the first grade I cheated on my spelling test and got the best grade in the class." The vampire snorted and taunted playfully, "And here I thought you were supposed to be the smart one."

Erin jokingly gasped and mocked her boyfriend, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." Stefan scoffed and tickled the doppelganger, "Okay, Shakespeare." The two laughed and held hands as they hiked up the hill.

Katherine lightly pushed Damon off of her as he asked, "Where is Klaus hiding his werewolf?" The older vampire cocked her eyebrow and responded, "Why? What are you gonna do?" Damon smirked at her and answered, "A dead werewolf equals no ritual." The doppelganger refused to tell him, and Damon bargained, "You should like this, it's gonna buy another month of your pathetic life."

Katherine turned around and sat in her chair, "Right, except I'm not the vampire he's planning on sacrificing." At Damon's look, she continued, "Yeah, he's got Caroline Forbes and Tyler Lockwood. Therefore, I'm in the clear." Damon advanced on her as he said, "I wonder where he got that idea." The brunette held up her hands and explained how she wanted to stay alive and escape.

"What if I told you Erin had vampire blood in her system?" Damon tried, and he knew he got it right when he saw Katherine's face. "What?" She barked at him. The younger vampire nodded and spoke, "Yeah, I know you somewhat care about her and want her to stay human. But, imagine how much fun it would be to compete with Erin for Stefan's love for, I don't know, forever."

Damon could see the vampire struggling with herself, and he rejoiced when she finally let up, "The tomb. He's got them in the tomb."

"I hope Bonnie will make me a daylight ring. I know she was hesitant to do it for Care." Erin brought up. The two were about halfway up, and Stefan replied, "She will, don't worry. I think she's grown over the past couple of months. She has more of a perspective." Erin agreed with him, Bonnie was more accepting and less hostile now.

Erin joked with her boyfriend, "And I'll never be able to watch Bambi again." Stefan smiled a little at her and agreed, "I definitely wouldn't recommend that." The doppelganger them started to rattle off her questions, "What's the best part about being a vampire? And you can't say compulsion or speed or strength because those are obvious."

Stefan nodded and came up with an answer for his love, "You feel like you could do anything, be anyone. Things are more beautiful, everything's heightened, you live more intensely, you love more powerfully." The girl then asked meagerly, "And the worst? Aside from the blood lust."

The vampire stopped walking and turned towards Erin. He answered her, "Anger becomes rage, when you're sad, you're in despair. Grief, loss, it can cripple you. That's why some of us turn our emotions off, it just becomes too overwhelming." Erin was about to say something more, but she couldn't. Her boyfriend continued, "You know, for a while for me, the good just wasn't worth the bad."

"How long was it before you learned to handle both?" She asked, and Stefan supplied, "I'm still trying, everyday. What else?" Erin fought with herself, but she just spoke, "Let's just keep going, we're almost halfway there." She sidestepped Stefan and kept walking.

Stefan pretty much dragged Erin to the top as she stated, "We made it!" Stefan then bragged, "That's nothing, I've climbed Mount Everest." Erin's eyes widened, and Stefan saw the curious look on her face. She was full of wonder, adventure, and life. "Really? That's so cool! Can we do that?" She asked excitedly, and Stefan gave her a genuine smile and a nod. "I promise." He stated.

Erin then gazed at the view and muttered, "Oh, wow. It's amazing." Stefan then cleared his throat and spoke, "Hey, you can say it." Erin kept her eyes on the view and played dumb, "Say what?" The vampire could see right through her as he went on, "The thing that you've been wanting to say, but you're afraid of how it might make me feel."

"Nothing I say is going to change anything, Stefan." She stated, and though it may be true, it would help to get it out. "Look, I know this isn't the first time you've thought about it, drinking vampire blood in order to survive. I know I've thought about it one hundred times." Erin stared at her vampire boyfriend and asked, "Even before all of this with Klaus, did you think about it then?"

"Of course I did." He answered, and it surprised Erin. Before everything with Klaus and Katherine, Stefan was dating Elena. It still made her feel uncomfortable thinking about the topic, but it happened. Elena loved Stefan, even though Stefan loved her. And, while that was going on, Erin was having feelings for Damon. Now, at the mention of Damon's name, Erin felt angry and sad. He did this to her, she never wanted this.

Stefan snapped her out of her thoughts when he took her hands, "Look, if it were my choice, I'd want to be with you forever." Erin sighed and asked, "Why have you never brought it up?" Her boyfriend then stated, "Because I knew that if it was an option you would've. It would have been selfish of me to ask you." The doppelganger retorted back, "That didn't stop Damon."

"Damon did it because he loves you." Stefan let his insecurity be shown. Erin had heard those words many times since she and Damon became friends, and she knew he did. The truth was, a few months ago, that statement would make her blush. But now, it made her mad, "But he did this to me, so he doesn't really know what love is."

Erin took in a deep breath and started to vent, "It was always an option, Stefan. You're right, I have thought about it. But, it was never something I wanted now. I'm seventeen years old, how am I supposed to know any of this yet? How am I supposed to make a decision?"

The girl took Stefan's hands in hers and stared into his eyes as she started to cry, "I know that I love you, Stefan. I love you so much, and I considered turning to spend an eternity with you. But, the decision to spend our lives together was something that I was supposed to deal with as it came along. But, when you were with Elena, I just kept thinking about leaving all of this behind. When my mom was alive, she and I would talk about my dreams; I was supposed to grow up, decide if I want to have kids and start a family, grow old. I was supposed to have a life time of those choices, and now? I'm a doppelganger who is about to be turned into a vampire. It's all gone."

Stefan cooed, "It's okay, you can say it. Please." Erin just let the tears roll down her face and nodded, "I would love to spend an eternity with you, Stef. But I don't want to be a vampire. I never wanted to be one." The vampire then pulled his girlfriend into a hug, and she cried on his shoulder.

Stefan and Erin pulled into the driveway of the Boarding House. The two got out of the car, and Erin thanked Stefan for the day. The vampire then noticed someone watching them, and he stepped in front of Erin. "You had me all nervous, I thought maybe you'd done something stupid. But, then I remembered that you were the smart one of the bunch. You ready my dear?" Klaus asked the doppelganger.

Erin nodded and stated, "I'm ready." Just as she was going to walk towards Klaus, Stefan put an arm out to stop her. "I wouldn't, no reason for you to die too." Klaus warned, making Erin nervous. "No, no Stefan, hey, it's fine. I'll go, no one needs to get hurt. There's no reason for you to get hurt." The doppelganger stared at Stefan, who's eyes began to water as he glared at Klaus.

The girl then kissed her boyfriend lovingly and she smiled as she pulled away. "I love you, Stefan." She whispered, and he grabbed her hand. "I love you." He replied, and he kissed her again as a tear rolled down his cheek.

"Close your eyes. Close your eyes, Stef." He did as she told, and she let go of his hand as Klaus grabbed her. When Stefan opened his eyes, Erin was gone.

Erin and the witch trudged over rocks and sticks, "You're Luka's sister, aren't you?" Erin asked, seeing the family resemblance. When she got no answer, the doppelganger went on, "I heard about you. He and your father were looking for you." Greta finally spoke, "They were wasting their time; I wasn't lost."

The doppelganger tripped over a rock and managed not to fall, and she snapped, "I can't see anything." With a wave of her hand, Greta lit pits of fire as a pathway. When Erin looked forward, there was a body in the center of the field. She recognized it, though, but she couldn't put her finger on who it was. Erin assessed each feature of the person and pinpointed who it was.

"Jenna?" Erin asked herself, and she rushed to her aunt's body when Jenna didn't respond. The girl shook her aunt and deflated when she found that Jenna had no pulse. Erin then turned to Greta and questioned, "He killed her, why? I did everything that he asked."

All of a sudden, Jenna awoke with a gasp. Erin jumped at the sight, sure that her aunt was just dead. Then, it hit her before Greta could say anything, "She's in transition."
