Talent Tech/Camellia

I pushed the doors open and wandered into the finished building. The lobby is huge with the circle front desk in the exact middle of the room, computers (TT Revolutions, company invention) lined up on top of the desks. Soon that area will be where receptionist would be filled in the center of it, waiting areas are dotted across the room, mainly by the walls with coffee tables and stands stacked with random magazines. The right wall, somewhere in the middle, stood the two glass elevators for public use. In the back the security office with the 'only down' elevator (it leads down to the bottom most floors), the back door nearby that elevator and some meeting offices adjacent from the security and not to mention the secret stairs that are right beside the elevator. A huge glass chandelier hanged from the roof adding elegance and light to the room, sadly it was turned off. Yep. The four above-ground levels certainty are (mostly) civilian friendly. I silently scoff to myself. The damn place isn't even open yet and people are working here. But in truth this place has been open for well over two months now. The whole 'grand opening' thing's just to make it official. I walked straight towards the back elevator. It leads down and towards my own garage (finally after years of asking) which is the whole 3rd to last bottom floor is mine. The 2nd to last floor is regular old maintenance and stuff while the last floor is the vault/invention garage where my car supposed to go (in fact I'm not even allowed to drive the thing but seeing that I created it's compatibility system for all three energy sources I do own part of the car). I seriously wonder why put the vault right below the reactive maintenance room (and I say that because of fire and flood probabilities). I mean I understand that the floor's the safest place ever for our inventions but still… The elevator doors close and I press the button to my floor. The ride's short as the doors spread open and I walk out. In hindsight I probably could have taken the stairs but I'm too lazy for that. I walk over to my disorganized desk in the immediate left corner of the room. I sit in my nice and comfy leather chair and place my stuff in a clean-ish area. I exhale sharply and start pulling out my food from the diner. I see that the waitress put a plastic fork and knife in there. Thank you. I send to her mentally as I start preparing the food. Before I even take a bite in comes Tyler Sham (I always tease him by calling him Sham Wow). His red hair can be seen from miles away, his gray eyes contrasting against it and his fair skin. He was tall, about 6'4'' and he wore a regular t-shirt with the logo of ACDC and some jeans with Nikes for shoes. Obviously not in work attire but I don't press him. One the facility isn't officially open and for two I don't stress that. Dad does though. He walks quickly over to me, POC (Planning, Organization and Communications, a Talent Tech invention created solely for organizing) in hand. "There you are Camellia. I have like ten messages for you from your parents. They tried reaching you but apparently you had your phone off or something."

I groaned softly and pushed my plate farther into my desk and my stomach grumbled in protest. "I was going to call them after I ate. Honest I was. And I never turn off my phone. I left it charging since someone forgot to put it on charge last night while I worked."

"Sorry jeez. I forgot." Tyler put up his hands defensively. "Won't happen again."

"Better not. Or else I'll force you to break up with Amy."

"No not Amy. Come on." Amy Lynn being Tyler's girlfriend back home in California. She's a friend of mine since high school and I hooked them up. Sadly I didn't know it would affect my assistant's work. Man if only I was back in California, out here in the Flats there's absolutely nothing to do. Tyler recuperated and got back to telling me about my parents. "They want to ask you about the opening and status in the New Mexico facility. They said there was more but they didn't let me in on all of it."

"All right. I'll call them. Can I eat first though? I'm starving?" My stomach growled in agreement.

"Fine. But they wanted you to call them as quickly as possible."

"That's what they always say." I mumble to myself as Tyler walks away and leaves in the elevator. My parents, god knows they're good parents, they rescued me from being forever stuck in an orphanage, but they're too busy for their own good. Feeling rushed, (even though the probability that they won't even pick up my return call is high) I stuffed the pancakes (which were disgustingly cold and soggy by then) into my mouth and I pulled out a bottle of orange juice I keep under my desk in the mini-fridge. Swallowing huge gulps I dial my parents from my office computer (also a TT Revolution) and wait for the call to hit voicemail. Surprisingly it didn't. The call was picked up and the video chat was automatically turned on.

"Camellia Samantha Talent. Why did you ignore our calls?" My mother scolded me, using my full name (which Samantha isn't even my birth middle name; they gave it to me when I was adopted). My mother, Kaiyo, being from Japanese descent has some dark, shiny, short, thick hair, perfectly shaped face, brown eyes and not to mention the frame of a teenage girl. She has some deep techno background because of her father and she adopted me because she was infertile and she and my dad wanted a child so best adopt one right?

"I didn't. My phone was charging and Tyler forgot that he didn't charge it last night."

"You're supposed to charge it, not Tyler."

"Not when I work till two in the morning working on the Enforcer." The Enforcer being our motorcycle version of the TTHSE (or HSE for short, all the TT's in our abbreviations means Talent Technology).

"Dear you shouldn't work that hard. It's not your place. At least not yet."

"I know." I sighed out. We stayed quiet for a bit longer before I brought up what Tyler had told me. "So you wanted to know about the facility and the opening?"

"Oh yes. First of all, the facility. How's TTM." TTM being Talent Technology Motors (told you all the TT's mean the same thing). TTM is the vehicle part of the company while the one back in sunny ole California is the technology half. Though starting off TTM will be working on the tech aspects too, just until we get to start walking instead of crawling like it is now.

"It's good here. We already have some technicians and scientists and designers here working on the projects. Not much can be said yet though since we don't have electricity 100% since the nearest power station's like 50 miles off. We may need to build our own station—Hey! Maybe we could have Talent Technology Powers! TTP! — And other than that I'm starting to get my garage worked out, thanks for it again. The HSE's taking its final test runs and going straight into the opening all is going coordinately. We've got news stations coming from all around and we have some citizens that are going to be welcomed inside the building for an once-in-a-lifetime tour. We decided I would choice the lucky winners. Though I have one question; why did you invite Sharon Heart from CaliSun to come? She always tries to prove that we're working with aliens or something. Woman's a nutcase." That Heart. So mentally insane. Sometimes I wonder if she was abducted by aliens and then they dumped her back for being such a nuisance.

"I know she's a nutcase honey. But she's California's it newscaster and since we're from California it would only make sense to invite her."

"Yeah but she's just so nutty!"

"I know honey." Mom looked away and I heard my dad's voice, very distant in the background. "Hold on honey, dad wants to talk to you. I'll patch you through." Within moment's mom was switched over to dad. Dad being the picture of an American dad. Business owner, graying blonde hair with cool looking glasses, his hazel eyes shining through, always wearing a suit and tie, EsilBook 2 in hand along with all the do-dads that make a business man all business-y. I just marvel at my parents sometimes. For adults who are really getting up there in the years they still look damn hot. I wonder if I will have the same blessings of eternal hotness (not that I care, really, I don't).

"Hey kiddo."

"Hey dad."

"So I heard that everything about there and that Sharon Heart is crazy."

"Yep."

"She is a nut job." My dad mused softly. "So, how's the HSE?"

"Good dad. You do know it's just a car right?"

"Yes, the future car of the world. How are its final tests going along?"

"Passing with flying colors."

"Great. You know," dad looked around nervously (playfully), "I'll allow you to test the car's performance and speed in the Flats. I heard it's great for that kind of stuff."

"Yeah. The terrain is great." I smile at him. Boy. I did that the first day I got here. Pushed the car to a lovely 120 miles, tried out all three power sources and the little knit-knacks of the car. The HSE's a dream. A dream come true that is. Great. Now I want to go to Disneyland.

"Great. Well we have to be off. You're in charge of the opening and giving the speech, remember that."

"I haven't forgotten dad."

"Great. Talk to you later kiddo. Patching you back to mom."

"Bye dad." I quickly said before it switched over. I talked to mom a bit longer before she too said goodbye. "Bye mom." The call ended and I sighed. I clicked on the ready speech for the opening in just a matter of days. I read over the speech once or twice and I finally organized my whole desk. I yawned and looked over at the blueprints for the Enforcer. I glared at it. "Forget it. Mom's right. I shouldn't be working this hard. I'm going to sleep." I stood from my chair and walked to the small cot of the floor next to my desk. I flopped on it and wrapped the blanket around me. "Note to self: Build house somewhere nearby where I can have a real bed."

The Hub/No POV

"It says the opening is this Saturday." Sherman said as he pressed the print button.

"Cool! That's like four days away!" Spinner cheered.

Tezz looked at the shorter Cortez brother. "It is four days away."

"Well guys, we can't go if there's a situation. It all depends." Vert put in.

Stanford ran up and shook Vert by his shoulders. "Don't say that! You'll jinx us all!"

Agura raised a brow. "Stanford, you want to go to the opening? You're not much of the technology person."

"Of course I want to go." He replied. "The Gyro 2 works as a music player as well. I'm going to see if I can get one."

AJ nodded. "Me too. As I said, I need a new phone."

Agura had her doubts that Stanford just wanted to go to get a new phone, I mean the girl, Camellia Talent, was very pretty and guys always go towards girls like that. She couldn't show her doubt though. "Fine. But it all depends."

"I hope we get to go." Zoom stated. "It should be cool being there when it opens."

Sage nodded once. "And maybe they will answer questions. You can ask about Spectra Motors."

"Hey that's right." Spinner replied. "We could see if the facility here will be used for vehicle production in place of Spectra Motors."

"Most likely." Tezz put in. "What other reason would a technology company do with a car production company?" Tezz remarked.

"I just hope that we get to go inside the building." Sherman said. "I would love a tour."

AJ chuckled. "And maybe Camellia can give the tour."

"Oh yeah!" Spinner yelled in agreement. "I wouldn't mind if hotty Camellia gave me a tour." Spinner raised both his eyebrows twice for effect.

While most of the guys (excluding Tezz and Vert) chuckled amongst themselves Agura wondered if there was even a chance to use Talent Technology as a cover. Vert on the other hand wasn't so much worried about the cover. He focused his attention to the BF5's enemy, the Red Sentients. The passes finished printing out and Sherman started to prepare the paper into little covers so that it wouldn't get damaged. Tezz stared out aimlessly. If they did go on to the opening on Saturday most likely they would see Camellia. And Tezz would actually enjoy getting to know the proclaimed genius (claimed by Sherman) and inventor (and not to mention model).

Alright, please review.
