Glammie: Ok, so I decided to come back becuase, I mean, this story is my baby and I can't let it go.

Kid: How's high school now?

Glammie: It's great, finally not losing my mind and can focus on tasks at hand.

Kid: Oh and one more thing...

Glammie: What?

Kid: Happy Birthday!

Glammie: Yay, last friday in March marked the 18th year of Glammiegirl328 day. Now do the disclaimer for the birthday girl.

Kid: Glammiegirl328 does not own Soul Eater.

Glammie: I'm finally 18!

1st Steps

The month following the exam were pretty easy. Maka was on course to graduating first in her class, a fact which brought her a lot of pride. But, when one part of her life becomes less stressful another part changes completely. At home life has been chaos. The twins, who had are now 11 months have been crawling around and getting into everything. Maka found out that if the twins were quiet, something was wrong. Thankfully, she always got to them in time.

She thought this would've been easier if there were two parents in the house, but sadly Arusa was on a mission with Kid, and they didn't need weapons, so that left Maka, Liz and Pattie alone for the week. He still called and video called when he could, but it wasn't the same. Maka missed her fiancé and even took up sleeping in his clothes and on his side of the bed. She would never admit this to anyone.

A shriek woke Maka up this morning. She jumped out of bed and noticed it was only 6 am.

Too early for a Saturday.

Maka hustled to the nursery, and of course Isamu was wailing his little eyes out. When he saw his mother enter, he quieted down. Maka grabbed the crying boy and walked over to his sister's crib. She looked up at her mother and then to the door. Some part of Maka knew that Itsu was looking for her father.

The girl sat there for a while, just staring. When she realized he wasn't coming, she reached her arms up to her mom.

Maka:(Picking her up) I know sweetie, I want him home too.

She carried them downstairs, placed them in their highchairs, and went to make their bottles. When she finished, she handed them to each of the twins. She then went back to make herself some thing to eat.

Isamu, eagerly drank it, making a mess on the side of his face. Itsu, on the other hand, looked at it and then knocked it on the floor.

Maka: Hey hey, we drink bottles, not throw them. (Picking up the bottle)

Itsu: Bah, bli ehbwa!

Maka: Don't talk back to your mother!

There was a silent standoff, mother and daughter were staring right into each other's eyes. The only thing keeping this room from being deathly silent was the sound of Isamu finishing the contents of his bottle.

Maka broke eye contact and started laughing.

Maka:(Smiling) You look so much like your daddy it's almost creepy.

At the mention of her father, Itsu once again looked at the door, expecting Arusa to walk in any second.

Maka looked over her own shoulder, and saw nothing. She turned back to see Itsu reaching for her. When she picked her up and placed her on the floor, Itsu crawled to where the door was.

Maka frowned, she hadn't noticed how attached Itsu seemed to be to Arusa. It was only the beginning of the week, how was she going to get through until Friday?

(Wednesday)

Tsubaki: Hey Maka, how's it going?

Maka had invited her friends over for an afternoon. She thought the house felt too empty, and the twins needed to spend time with their uncles and aunts.

Soul was currently playing peek-a-boo with Itsu; Black*Star was rummaging through the fridge in the kitchen, and Liz and Pattie were playing with Isamu.

Maka turned back to her friend.

Maka: It's been ok, but I'm starting to feel down.

Tsubaki:(Frowning) Missing Arusa?

Maka: Not just me, it's Itsu too. She keeps looking for him to comeback.

Tsubaki: Aww she's a daddy's girl.

Maka: Yeah, but I feel bad, like maybe I'm not enough and she needs Arusa.

Tsubaki: It's not that, she is just more attached to one parent than the other, every child has that one parent. It doesn't mean she loves you less.

Maka: I guess your right.

Tsubaki: I know I'm right. I'm like the baby whisperer or something.

Maka had to laugh at her friend, only Tsubaki could self title herself as a "baby whisperer", but never had experience with kids besides the twins.

Liz: Uh, Maka? I think you should look.

Maka snapped out of her thoughts and loked to where Liz and Pattie were seated. She looked down to see Isamu taking steps on shaky legs towards where she was standing.

Maka: Oh my Death!

Maka squatted down and opened her arms, beckoning him forward.

Maka: Somebody get my phone off the table! (Yelling over her shoulder)

She didn't know who scrambled to get her phone, but once she had it in her hand, Isamu was sitting.

Maka:(Turning on the camcorder) Come on Izzy, come to mommy.

Isamu looked up at his mother and smiled. He rolles over to his stomach and got to his feet. With cautious steps, he toddled over to where Maka was squatting, an outstretched arm and a phone in the other hand.

Everyone was quiet as they watched him walk. Some where in between her arms and his initial starting point, he fell down. He looked up at the disappointed faces and heard the sad sighs. Deciding he didn't like that, he got back on his feet and made it to Maka's outstretched hand.

When she caught him in her arms, everyone applauded. Isamu, didn't understand why they were clapping, but he joined in anyway.

Maka: Good Job big boy! (Picking him up and spining him around)

She put him down and saved the video, deciding to send it to Arusa later. She then turned her attemtion to Itsu. The oldest twin was staring at the scene looking interested. When she caught Maka's stare, she looked back to her toys.

Maka sighed. Maybe Tsubaki was wrong, maybe Itsu really didn't like her.

(Later that night)

Arusa: He just got up and did it by himself?

After the guests had left and Maka pit the twins to bed, she sent Arusa the video of Isamu walking. Instantly, he video called her with a proud smile on his face.

Maka: Pretty much. (Sighing) They grow up so fast.

Arusa: Soon, we'll be sending them to college.

Maka: Ugh! Why would you make me think about that.

Arusa:(Shrugging) Just giving you something to look forward to in the future.

Maka:(Sticking her tongue out) Wait until Itsu starts dating.

Arusa:(Frowning) Not my little girl. She is gonna stay 11 months forever.

Maka:(Smirking) I'm just giving you something to look forward to in the future.

They talked a little longer about random things, how Arusa's mission was going, how Kid was, and most importantly when he'd be back.

Maka: You're daughter misses you.

Arusa: How do you know that?

Maka: She's just been staring at the door whenever anyone mentions you, and she has been really standoffish.

Arusa:(Arching his eyebrow) Standoffish?

Maka: She just seems bored with everyone and just sits by herself.

Arusa: Hmmm.

Maka: I just want her to be happy with me being here and not push memoff becuase I'm not you.

Arusa: I don't think it's that. I think she is attached to the idea of us being in the same house. When I left when she was younger, she didn't understand what was going on.

Maka: Ugh, this is a lot harder than I thought.

Arusa: If it was easy then you would see a lot more happy parents.

Maka:(Smirking) True. Well, I have to go to bed. I'll talk to you in the morning.

Arusa: Good night Maka. I love you.

Maka: I love you too.

(Friday Afternoon)

Maka sat in class partially listening to Ms. Marie's lesson. Her mind was pulled in a lot of places. In addition to the issues with Itsu, she still had a wedding to plan, the twin's up coming birthdays and graduation.

She was excited becuase Arusa was coming back tonight. However, Kid was also coming back, so that meant she would be resuming her lessons again. Great.

Soul: Earth to Maka. Come in Maka. Do you read me? (Waving his hand in front of her face)

Maka: Huh wha?

She looked around at the empty classroom and back to and arched-eyebrowed Souk

Soul: Ok, this is not like you. You never space out this oftenly. I'm starting to worry, and that's not cool.

Maka: Sorry just planning out my life and it seems to not be working the way I want it to.

Soul: Hmm, I'm glad Arusa tonight. You need a major intervention.

Maka: That might be true. (Collecting her things and heading to the door)

Maka had picked the twins up from daycare and made her way back to her house. When she reached the front door she unlocked it and pushed the twins inside.

Maka: Hello?

No answer.

Maka: Idiot is late.

Maka shrugged and took the twins in the kitchen to make dinner. She decided that she wanted a grilled chicken salad. She put the twins in their playpen and started cooking. She was halfway done when she heard Itsu make a lot of noise.

She looked over at the giggling, babbling and happy Itsu. Maka hadn't seen her like that since Arusa was here.

Itsu got up on her feet and made her way to the edge of her play pen where the front door faced.

Maka: Oh my Death, Itsu!

Maka turned her food on low and walked to where her daughter was standing.

Itsu was excited by something, but Maka couldn't tell what.

The she heard it. Keys jingling.

Arusa: Sorry I'm late. Kiddo saw a symmetrical meadow and just had to frolic through the flowers. (Laughing)

Arusa looked over to see his little girl standing up and smiling with her arms reaching for him, and Maka sitting there looking confused.

Arusa: Hey, love (Helping Maka to her feet) what's wrong.

Maka: I think Itsu sensed you coming.

They both looked down at the smiling green eyed black haired child.

Arusa: We have to go see Stein and my father.

Maka: Why what's wrong?

Arusa: Becuase...Itsu is starting to come into her powers.
