Rivalry and Fatherhood

Chapter 13: Change

"Look Shizuno," D'Arcy sighed, his friend hovering over him. "There's reasons why Maeve is back, not necessarily a good reason too."

"Why not tell me then?" Shizuno growled.

"Because I'm sworn by blood oath. I can't tell people without permission from the person who I'm sworn to." D'Arcy explained. "And I'm sworn to Maeve."

"So she's here...but won't see me?" Shizuno asked sadly. D'Arcy nodded in turn.

"Why?"

D'Arcy looked him straight in the eye.

"She doesn't want you to get hurt."

"Hurt?" Shizuno questioned. "How? I'm basically invincible."

.

"GET BACK HERE SCREAMER!" a man yelled.

Tori cackled with glee.

"It's good to be back in Japan." she whispered to herself, running through the streets in her new heels.

She quickly drifted around the corner, then hid in a small corner.

They darted around it without noticing her.

"Score one for the Orihara's." she chuckled and running the other way.

Tori's phone started ringing, catching the attention of the others.

"Shit!" she yelled, pulling out the phone. "This is Maeve." she said into the phone

"Hi Maeve. What are you doing right now?" D'Arcy said.

"Running like hell, you?"

"Oh, just standing here with Shizuno. WHO YOU FAILED TO MENTION THAT YOU WERE BACK." D'Arcy yelled.

"Welllll...it did slip my mind now that I think of it..." Tori laughed.

"Slipped your mind?" D'Arcy growled. "In practically being threatened here and it slipped your mind because you forgot to tell him you were back."

"You realize I'm busy here right?"

"Their not ayakashi."

"True too..." Tori said thoughtfully, "close you wars deary."

.

On the other end D'Arcy held the phone away from his face as far as possible.

"Why are you doing that?" Shizuno asked.

"Because her scre-" D'Arcy was interrupted mid sentence as a hellish scream came from the phone.

"What...was that?" Shizuno asked, now holding his wars from the sound.

"Maeve." D'Arcy said. "You need to remember she's just like me."

D'Arcy held the phone back to his ear.

"Where should we meet?"

.

"This brings back memories." Shizuno said. Tori had told them to meet her at the Russian sushi place in downtown Ikebukuro.

"Well, Tori likes the sushi they sell, not that raw stuff though." D'Arcy said, informing Shizuno about Tori's new likes.

The two men walked into the shop. In the back corner, a young bodacious woman with shoulder length black, curly hair waved them over.

"Hi Shizu-chan, Darcy-kun!" Tori giggled.

Shizuno flushed, realizing that it was Tori, since he had seen her a while ago with longer hair.

"Tori." Shizuno nodded. Tori smiled at them.

"Why is Shizuno here D'Arcy." Tori purred, her eyes shifting into slits.

D'Arcy looked incredibly uncomfortable.

"B-because he needs to know."

"Know?" Shizuno asked.

"He doesn't need to know anything." Tori sighed, waving her hand in a distasteful manner. The food came to their table.

"Thanks Simon." Tori grinned.

"Welcome Tori." Simon nodded and walked away.

"Hopefully this time you won't get kidnapped this time." Shizuno laughed, nudging D'Arcy to see if he got the joke. D'Arcy paled slightly, "Y-yeah..."

"So Tori-chan, why don't you tell me this big secret." Shizuno asked her.

Tori sighed.

"First of all; just call me Maeve. Victoria is just my middle name." Tori said, "Second; can't we just have a peaceful time and be friends?"

"I really don't feel like friends when you're keeping secrets and D'Arcy is scared to talk." Shizuno said. Then slamming his fist on the table, causing D'Arcy and Tori to jump.

"Spill it."

Tori looked at him, her eyes were like a steely purple staring into the soul.

"You want to know?" Tori asked, "At the cost of your life?"

Shizuno paused, giving it a second thought before answering.

"I'd risk my life for friends." Shizuno smirked.

"Alright then." Tori sighed.

Tori paused, exchanging a look with D'Arcy.

"Would you like to join a mafia?"
