Chapter 17: You Look Familiar (Part 1)

Even with all the weird stuff that's happened in the last year or so, I still love gardening- weird that, the orange-haired Yuuki Rito thought to himself as he watered the numerous colourful plants in his back garden. His figure was illuminated by the strong glare of the full moon in the cool breeze; even though it was nighttime, the temperature was somewhat warm, made more comfortable by the light breeze. Observing his surroundings, he could see most things clearly without having to enhance his vision. I swear a full moon is normally a time when the supernatural stuff happens… Rito considered with a hand below his chin; he could also hear the TV running inside in the living room.

"… it is rather true that organisms such as plants exhibit more abnormal behaviours during the full moon- we still haven't fully understood these behaviours and why they seem to stem from the full moon…" Rito could hear a male voice say through the television inside, almost in coincidence with his previous thoughts.

"Rito, dinner is ready," Rito heard his sister's voice as he got back to reality; he was strongly admiring the quiet night environment- it was a strong contrast to his normal life. Just as he was about to take a step inside his house, the corners of his left eye caught onto something different in his view and he quickly turned back. There, standing on the house roof was the figure of a teenage girl, who looked very familiar to Rito with her green hair and the pink flower petals on her head. He quickly rushed inside red-faced where he collided with a washboard; well, he thought it was a washboard, but it was rather the second Devilukean princess Nana (the feeling in his hands was too soft to be a washboard).

"Ow, watch where you're going," the pink-haired girl said while rubbing her back and her (flat) chest.

"Sorry, sorry," Rito replied suspiciously quickly as he got up within a blink of an eye.

"Wait?! Why are you so red?!... you were having ecchi thoughts again weren't you, you stupid ero-Rito," Nana said angrily as she rolled up her T-shirt sleeves. Rito was quick to leave into the dining room as he nearly skidded into the table and the food.

"So, you're saying there was a naked green-haired girl on the roof?" Mikan asked with scepticism. "I don't know Rito, you do have a strong imagination last I checked…"

"I swear on Buddha, that what I said I saw was completely and utterly real," Rito responded, his hands which were now covered in bandages, on his chest. His face was also more swollen than before and a red imprint of a hand could be seen across his cheek.

"In fact, it looked very familiar- green hair, like a plant, only one person who fits that description… Run," Rito said with a magnifying glass and a fake moustache.

"Wow, you are surprisingly foolish sometimes," a blonde girl shook her head towards Rito.

"Maybe it was an alien haha," Lala said with a cute chuckle as glanced up from her food.

"Rito-san, maybe you went so long without doing anything that your repressed urges are making you see things to fit that," Momo added to the conversation, her voice sweet but laced with something less innocent.

"Um, no, I don't know what you mean by that, but what I saw was definitely real- and since when did you get into Freudian psychology?" Rito replied, his face confused by the earlier statement.

I'm surprised they didn't believe me- considering all that happens around us, a girl without any clothes on our roof shouldn't be something so hard to believe. Or maybe I am delusional- wow, actually visualising naked girls in the night… that is so silly, I should get a check-u- the orange haired boy stopped in his thoughts and track. After his claims being dismissed as the visualisation of a teenage boy's 'urges', he decided he wanted a nice little nap. But, before him in the landing upstairs was the same girl from before, although this time around, she actually had a towel covering (most of) her; man, I really must be tired, I'm imagining things again, he sighed and surprisingly didn't even look flustered. Next, he proceeded to hit his head on the wall to his right.

"Okay, there might be a chance you're real… are you a stalker?" Rito asked, which was a pretty strange question to start a conversation.

The slender green-haired girl gazed at him for a moment before deciding to speak.

"Rito, it's me mau," the girl replied, the weird word at the end of her speech catching his interest.

"No way… is that you Celine?!" Rito shouted in surprise as he examined the girl from head to toe.

"You look a bit different- have you grown?" Rito asked, half-joking although he was also asking, hoping that she would answer his question.

"Yay, you recognised me!" Celine responded excitedly, her former personality was still apparent.

"But, I have to apologise Celine- I haven't really spent a lot of time with you since I got back (A/N: Blame me)," Rito apologised, as his hands went to the back of his head. There was a small silence as Celine regarded him for a few moments; her figure remained unmoving.

"…It was very lonely without you Rito- I still felt as something was missing all those months you were away…" the girl said slowly, reflecting on the events of the last year or so.

"But when you came back, I was so happy- I thought you wouldn't have came back but you did," Celine carried on, a hint of happiness on her voice.

Shaking his head with a smile, he walked closer to the girl and rubbed his hand on Celine's head.

"Of course I'd come back, I'd never forget the people at home," Rito said with a smile.

"But… I can't let this go unpunished… from now on, you have to treat me even more," Celine glanced up at him, her face in a cute pout.

Well, hi again everyone. Definitely an improvement, two chapters in over a week, compared to my track record before hand. Kinda adapted this chapter from the canon, so it isn't exactly the same, but I still hope you like it. Enjoy the chapter and thanks for all the support- I still find myself surprised when I see that people are still reading my chapter even after the inactivity. Good luck to anyone else with their exams (fun times?!), and until next time!
