'No!' Aithusa yelled as she crossed her arms. Merlin just sighed as he saw her stubbornness, but he could also understand why she said no. She was just a proud dragon who listened to no one, except maybe her dragonlord, though she didn't listen to him half as much as she should.
One of the men in front of them pouted, looking at her with begging eyes. 'Ah please, I have been wanting to fly for so long.' He stated.
The other man chuckled softly. 'Come on Orville, it's clear that she doesn't want to do it and I don't think it's smart to try and force a dragon to do what you want.'
Orville glared at his brother. 'Of course I know that, Wilbur.' He snapped.
Merlin just smiled as he watched the two brothers argue. They had accidently discovered Aithusa's secret and had surprisingly accepted it rather easily. It was a big surprise, but one Merlin rather enjoyed, he knew that there would probably be only a few people in the world that could accept who she was, a mighty and powerful creature. And they had also quickly accepted him, but they only knew about his magic, not about who he had once been.
Orville turned to Merlin, now staring at him with begging eyes. 'Toby, can't you talk some sense into her.' Yes, Merlin now went by the name of Tobias. He often used fake names when traveling over the world, somehow it made it easier for him, to become someone else, the leave behind his cursed life... but somehow he always ended up back in England, the land of his birth.
'It's her own choice, I can't force her to turn into a dragon and give you a ride on her back.'
Orville crossed his arms, glaring at the others, but he went silent. Wilbur on the other hand frowned before he sent his younger brother to get them all something to drink.
Only when the younger brother had left did Wilbur turn back to his new friends. 'I'm sorry about my little brother, he can be quite stubborn, but I know that Orville has been dreaming of flying since we were little boys.'
Aithusa nodded hastily. 'I can understand that, flying is an incredible experience and I would never give it up.' She chuckled in a low voice, one that came close to a dragon roar. 'It's sad that you little humans don't have any wings.'
'Aithusa don't talk badly about human beings.' Merlin told her with a stern look.
She just rolled her eyes with a smile on her lips, but before they could add something to their conversation Orville returned, giving them all a cup of coffee as he settled back down.
The rest of the afternoon they talked about the brothers' work, flying and of course about Aithusa being a dragon. They had so many questions for her, how she looked and how she flew through the skies, the questions came mostly from Orville, the younger brother was totally captivated by her words and her actions.
It was after a couple of hours that Merlin decided that it was enough and he and Aithusa decided to take their leave.
They stood at the doorway, saying their goodbyes to each other, promising that they would see each other again soon. Aithusa shook hands with Orville, glancing at him with a hint of joy in her eyes. 'Good luck with flying!' She joked as she left.
His lips just turned into a stubborn smile. 'I will, I promise you, one day I will fly just like you!'
They all laughed at the younger sibling and Merlin and Aithusa turned away from them, walking down the path. Merlin glanced once back, waving at the waiting brothers. 'Good luck with the flying, I'm sure that I will hear of the brothers Wright in the future!' The brothers just waved back at them.
One day, they would fly.
