Merlin was riding fast along the river as he felt the powerful magic search through the air, he was getting closer and closer ...
He could feel the magic of an old creature, a wyvern not far from here. He had always thought that they had gone extinct shortly after Albion had disappeared, but now... maybe there was even one of those creatures alive. It wasn't a dragon, but maybe the creature could be a companion for Aithusa, he knew how lonely his friend was, even with him at her side.
He brought the horse to a stop as a large castle came into view, hidden away deep within these bare lands. It was a large castle, big enough to harbor several dragons.
Merlin quickly bound the horse to one of the few dead trees and made his way towards the castle. He may be a dragonlord, but at the same time he knew that these wyvern were wild creatures, not as loyal or understanding as real dragons, or at least the ones he had known.
He felt a sting of regret as he stood in front of the large gate, it reminded him of home, of Camelot... He still missed them, and somehow he knew that he would never lose that feeling of loneliness, loss.
The raven pushed open the large doors, narrowing his eyes for a moment as they adjusted to the darkness inside. The castle was old, dust covering the furniture and it was clear that no one had lived here for a very long time.
He quickly made his way through the old hallways, the old green banners looked more like rags as the hung limply on the walls, he could barely make out the boars imprinted on them.
It was then that he heard a low roar spread through the air, one he immediately recognized as the roar of a wyvern, not as mighty as the roar of a dragon, but still impressive enough. He threw open the first door he encountered, his eyes immediately staring at the large dark scales of the wyvern. It was standing with its back towards him, but it didn't take the creature long to notice the dragonlord behind him.
The large creature turned around, his size quite impressive, almost as big as a full-grown dragon. Merlin blinked for a moment then opened his mouth, speaking to the creature in the language of the dragon. 'Calm down, I'm not here to hurt you. I simply came here to meet you.'
He could feel the shock brush through the mighty creature's body, before he calmed down somewhat, tilting his head slightly to the side, clearly searching for the right words. 'M-master...' Merlin blinked several times as an amused grin spread over his lips, it wasn't a he, it was a she. 'Only to meet me?...' Her eyes saddened themselves. 'I'm the only one left for you to meet, my brothers and sisters...'
'I know... but there is one more for you to meet, the last living dragon, Aithusa.'
She blinked at him, a smile spreading over her lips. 'Really?'
'Yeah.'
'Still... I still have to do my job, they ordered me to do it.'
A wyvern with a job? 'What did they make you do?'
'I have to guard this human female, don't know why, I only know that I have to eat anyone who comes in here to see her... I won't eat you, though.' She answered with a chuckle, which resulted in more of a low roar.
Merlin placed his hands in his sides. 'Why in the world do they want you to guard a woman? It makes absolutely no sense.' He answered with a sigh. 'You know what, you go to Aithusa, just head south and you will know when you get close to her, I will handle this woman.'
'Sounds like a plan.' She answered happily. 'I will meet you later, master.' The last she said as she bowed slightly, before she wrapped her claws tightly around the large window and jumped out, clapping loudly with her large wings as she disappeared from his sight.
Now to handle this woman.
He quickly looked around before he spotted a staircase up towards the tower. Why were there always stairs? He panted slightly as he reached the top and he threw open the door.
He glanced inside, his eyes quickly falling upon the four poster bed that stood in the middle of the room, surrounded by curtains, but showing the figure of a woman lying quietly in the bed.
He sighed, he would just have to wake this girl up, send her to her home and get back to Aithusa and the female wyvern... he still had to name her.
The warlock quickly stepped towards the bed, staring for a moment at the sleeping blond lying in bed before he grabbed her shoulders, shaking her softly as he said. 'Wake up.'
The girl slowly opened her eyes, her big sea blue eyes, and looked up at him. 'M-my hero!' She suddenly screamed as she threw her arms around him, pulling him close against her well formed body. 'You have slain the dragon and come to save me!' Before he could even reply to her she pushed back again, staring deeply into his eyes, blinking rapidly with her eyelashes. 'Now kiss me!'
Wait, what? He blinked at her several times before he pushed back as he saw her lips descend to his own. 'What do you think you're doing?'
She looked up at him, startled. 'Kissing my hero?'
'Uhh... Fine that I'm your hero, but don't kiss me. Now get your stuff, you can finally go home.'
'And you're going to be my future husband and king to my kingdom!' She said dreamily. 'But...' She bit her lip as she looked slightly disappointed at his body. 'I had expected you to be more... muscular.'
'Sorry that I'm such a disappointment to you.' Merlin answered slightly irritated. 'Now you can stay here or you can go home, but I'm not staying.'
'Wait, you have to stay, you're my knight in shining armor, you're my hero, my savior, my dragon slayer!' She stated as she grabbed the front of his shirt.
'I haven't slain the dragon.' He said matter of factly, to even think of killing a dragon... 'I have had enough.' He mumbled to himself before he turned back to her. 'I'm going, as I said, you can stay here or you can go home, but I'm out!' And with that he untangled her fingers from his shirt and quickly jumped up, away from her grabbing hands and quickly headed out of the door.
He had already served one noble prat, he wasn't going to serve another!
Now to go back to Aithusa and the wyvern, he could already feel a smile spreading over his lips as he knew how exited the dragon would be to meet her new companion.
