A/N: Dear God, someone kill me. I finally finished chapter 15 after a long-ass year. Honestly, I don't even know why I stopped writing. I blame college.
"The enemy has taken our intelligence." The announcer's voice sounded over the speakers. Everybody in the infirmary turned to look at each other.
"But it's ceasefire, isn't it, mates?" Cooper looked up at the speakers on the ceiling.
"Zis has to be some sort of trap…" Basile folded his arms and leaned against the counter.
"Aye, I'll go take a look, lads." The Demoman broke the bottle of scrumpy he was holding. "If I don't ca' back, don't go lookin' for me." He slugged out of the room.
Twenty minutes passed and our Demoman did not come back.
"Oi mate, shouldn't we go look for him?" Cooper was at the door.
Immediately, without thinking, I jumped out of my bed. "I'll go, I'm faster than you guys. If I get into trouble, I can escape quicker."
"Don't go…" Alice's voice spoke up. "Our Demoman told you not to go looking for him, right? I honestly think there's something weird going on.
I shook my head. "I'm going. I don't know what's happening, but I plan to find out."
Cooper came up to me and put a hand on my shoulder. "If that's how you're going to be, Shelia, at least take my machete." He unclipped the belt that contained the knife and handed it to me. I slipped it on and nearly stumbled from the weight of the large knife.
After regaining my balance and tying my shoes, I looked up at my teammates and nodded. "I'm off."
"Be carevul." David patted my head. I nodded, throwing my hat on my head.
"I'll contact you guys, so have the radio on." I chuckled as I moved the mouthpiece of my headset to my mouth. I then turned and sprinted out the door.
It actually felt good to be running around, despite how much I hated it. My muscles screamed with pain, as I sprinted down a few hallways. I stopped and panted.
"I'm so not used to this," I muttered as a voice rang in my ear.
"Adrian, this is Alice, do you read?" Alice's voice sounded frantic and rushed, she must obtained the radio from one of the Medics.
"Yo Alice, yeah, I hear you loud and clear. Everything's fine so far, I just need to-"
My voice was cut off by a loud scream as a rocket came flying at me. Diving to the ground just in time, I managed to avoid the rocket, it crashing into the opposite wall. The wall exploded into cement and bricks. I stared at the wall as something metal nearly collided with my head. I rolled out of the way and was staring at a BLU Soldier.
"The fuck?" I muttered as the Soldier's shovel came down towards me again.
The shovel was inches away from my head as I quickly pulled out Cooper's machete. Swinging it in front of me, I blocked the Soldier's shovel, with enough force to send it flying. This was my chance. I quickly stood up and tackled the BLU Soldier, stabbing the machete deep into his chest.
The Soldier coughed up blood and muttered "Maggot" before crumpling to the floor, completely dead. I stared, wide eyed at the late Soldier until a voice sounded in my ear.
"Oi, Sheila, you alright mate?" That was Cooper's voice.
I tapped my headset with my finger. "Y-yeah… I'm unharmed but…" I looked down at the lifeless corpse, "I… killed someone… and I don't think they're going to respawn…"
It was true, our watches didn't work when we were in ceasefire, Alice told me this back in the infirmary. Technically it was still considered ceasefire, even if BLU was attacking us, so it would make sense why BLU's Soldier wouldn't respawn. That then left the main question, why was BLU attacking during ceasefire?
Cooper could tell my voice was trembling and I heard a sound. A gentle voice with a German accent spoke over the radio, "Vou vere only acting in self-defense, don't beat vourself over it." David sounded concerned.
"Y-yeah, I just hope I don't have PTSD after this…" I chuckled as the other line went silent.
"You shouldn't joke about fings like zat, especially after what happened at Cold Front." Was that Basile on the other end?
"Yeah, that was insensitive of me, I'm sorry." I apologized as sincerely as I could.
"Do not worry about eet. Just keep it in mind." Basile's voice somehow made me feel calm and relaxed.
After ending my talk with my teammates, I pulled Cooper's machete out of the Soldier's body.
"I really hope he doesn't mind if this has blood on it…" I shuddered as I slipped it back into its sheath.
It was way too quiet. As I wandered down the hallways, I stopped at the camera control room.
"This is the cause of everything, huh…?" I half muttered to myself as I kicked the door and yelped in pain, "Yeah, nice job, you moron, you could have broken your foot…"
Sighing, I took a seat against the wall. Taking off my hat and placing it next to me, I hugged my knees to my chest and cried.
"What are ya crying about?" A voice growled next to my ear, causing me to jump to my feet. After I wiped my eyes, I looked up… into the eyes of one of BLU's Scouts.
"Shit. What's next? I suppose you're planning on killing me too? Well, guess what? Adrian Tucker is ready to die!" Laughing like a mad man, I held my arms out to the side.
"I wonder if you can actually kill me! BLU hasn't had much luck late- guh!"
I reeled over in pain as the Scout's foot collided with my stomach, knocking the wind out of me. I couldn't recover fast enough as the Scout threw multiple kicks into my stomach and face. Blood rushed down my face as his foot collided with my nose.
"That's enough."
I coughed as the Scout was pulled away from me. With a loud yelp and a bang, the BLU Scout fell to the floor, dead.
"Adrian-san? Hang in there." Tori kneeled before me and put her now smoking Ambassador back in its holster.
"Geez. I really thought I was a goner there…" I gasped in between breaths as Tori pulled a handkerchief out of her pocket and gave it to me.
"You should be more careful, the base isn't safe."
I looked at her with a puzzled look on my face. "Why? What's going on?"
"Ever since you and the others got back from BLU's base, they've been planning on wiping us out. They want to kill all of us, Adrian-san."
My eyes widened, "But why?"
"They think RED knows too much." Tori looked around before pulling me to my feet.
"But we don't know anything, right?" I asked, looking into Tori's purple eyes.
Tori shook her head,
"I was looking through some intel files that we have on BLU, it seems like they are planning something. Of course, since we lost all those battles last week, they've learned a lot about us from the intel they gathered."
I frowned.
"Ok, so wait, the only reason BLU's attacking us is because they gathered our intel and don't want us to stop them?"
Tori nodded.
"So why the hell do we leave our intel out for them to steal it if it's so damn important?!
I hit the wall with my hand.
Tori pushed my hand away from the wall,
"I wasn't told much when I first joined RED. All I was told was to capture BLU's intel and make it back alive. Gomen. I'm not really helpful."
Tori now looked depressed, if that was even possible for a Spy.
"Hey," I looked up at Tori as I spoke, "You've done everything you could with what information you had. It's not your fault the higher ups are a bunch of bastards. Plus, you've saved my life so many times, so I wouldn't call that "not helpful."
Tori smiled and patted my head, "You know, you're a lot nicer than a lot of the other Scouts."
We both started laughing until a gun shot could be heard. The next thing I knew, Tori flung herself over my body, protecting me from a bullet that connected with the Spy's back.
