Two years later...

Nate and Serena sat at a table for four... and only one of them was okay with that.

"The Basses have sent their regrets, but they are running late." The hostess breathed at them.

Nate opened his mouth to just go ahead and order some appetizers, but his agitated fiancé cut him off.

"You have got to be kidding me. Those two are really ruining our engagement brunch." Serena huffed and threw her cloth napkin onto the table.

"Meh, they're newlyweds." He shrugged, and went ahead and ordered some starter food.

"Nate, they've been married almost a year and a half. It would have been two if Eleanor hadn't pitched a fit at the speed of their timeline."

"Oh, yeah. She was convinced that Blair was pregnant." Nate laughed.

"Speaking of which..." Serena trailed off as the Basses entered the restaurant.

"Don't say anything..." Begged under his breath as he stood to greet the couple crossing towards them.

"Say anything? Why would I say anything? She's the one who should say something. She's the one who's-"

"Chuck! Blair!" Nate cut Serena off as he kissed each of Blair's cheeks and shook Chuck's hand.

"So nice of you to join us." Serena smiled but let it be a little bit of a dig.

Neither Bass apologized for their being late, Blair's nose twitched, but other than that she just smiled and let Chuck help her with her chair. They ordered brunch, and talk quickly turned to all the wedding plans that were starting to be put into place for the blonds' nuptials.

"S, your wedding is going to be lovely." Blair nodded. "Especially with me as your matron of honour."

A light came into Serena's eyes and Nate took a swig of his drink. "Thank you, B. And you know, as my matron of honour, I really want you to look stunning."

"She always looks stunning." Chuck told his sister, and was rewarded with smile from his wife, and a hand sliding up his thigh.

"Of course!" Serena chirped, and ignored the fact that Blair's hand had disappeared under the table. "But you know... B, I know you're favoring the flowing frock dress this season, but-"

"It's going to be all over Vogue next month, S." Blair's voice had gone up a notch.

"Be that as it may... I'm still seeing you in something formfitting. You know, to really show off that figure of yours!" Serena laughed, enjoying digging at her friend.

"Serena, not everything has to be so tight that it cuts off your breathing." Blair said cooly and let her gaze slide over the close confines of S's dress.

"Be that as it may," Serena kept a smile on her face as she battled with her bestie. "It's my wedding, and you you'll wear what I want."

Dark brown eyes clashed with blue and the girls silently stared at each other... Until Nate cleared his throat. "Dude, are we on for basketball tomorrow?"

With the tension only slightly broken, brunch arrived and they tucked in and talked of easy subjects until Blair's eyes widened fractionally. "If you'll all excuse me for a moment..."

Chuck looked at Blair in question, but she smiled off his concern and kissed his cheek before heading to the ladies' room.

As soon as she was gone, Serena threw her napkin on the table and huffed back in her seat.

"Chuck, this is ridiculous."

"Come again?" He asked innocently as he took a sip of his water.

"Dude." Was all Nate said with a roll of his eyes. They'd all seen that Blair's gate as she walked away had the distinct beginnings of a waddle. Not to mention how as her frock moved around her you could clearly see the outline of her baby bump.

"Chuck, she's like five months pregnant-" Serena blurted.

"If she were... and I'm not saying that she is... I would wager...five and a half actually." Chuck smiled, and Nate smiled because they were friends.

"Five and a half months pregnant and neither of you have said a word to anyone about it!" Serena kept going.

"Well, I would point out that whether someone is or isn't pregnant is their business. So even if she is, she doesn't have to tell anyone."

"She doesn't have to tell anyone... but the evidence is right there for the world to see!"

"So what are you going with? That she's just getting fat?" Nate asked as he took a bite of salad.

"If I were you... I wouldn't say that to her." Chuck warned.

"Good point." Nate laughed. "Hey, as long as you two are happy, we're happy for you!"

"Speak for yourself." Serena grumbled, then her eyes lit up. "Do you think if I pretended to fall... and burst into her stall-

"Babe..." Nate shook his head, and her brother looked at her like she'd lost the last of her mind.

"Fine." Serena gave in. "But see if I throw her a baby shower!"

Both men looked at her.

"Okay! So, I've already planned it, and it's scheduled for next month..." Serena thought for a moment. "But I'm returning her present."

"That will show her..." Chuck rolled his eyes.

That night, Blair stood in front of her full length mirror in a silk nightgown that brushed the tops of her knees.

"You look beautiful."

Her eyes lifted and met her husband's gaze in the mirror. He was leaning against the door jam of her closet, but lifted himself up to walk and stand behind her.

"The peasants are restless..." Chuck commented between the kisses he laid on her neck.

"Let them eat cake." Blair quipped, then smirked. "Actually, that's perfect. If I fatten her up by her wedding day nobody will notice I'll be in third trimester."

He didn't say anything but looked at her in the mirror.

"It's nobody else's business." She said carefully and slipped out of his arms to pad her way to their king sized, silk covered bed.

She careful arranged her pillows, and let Chuck help her tuck one under her knees. She sighed in contentment as the pressure came off her back, and she sighed again as Chuck sat at the end of the bed began massaging her feet.

"The baby is fine and growing." He murmured as his thumb did magical things to her instep.

"I know." Blair said with her eyes closed.

"Blair."

"I know." She repeated as she opened her eyes.

"I know you're scared, but we're having a baby..." She smiled at the sheer joy in his eyes. "It's something to be celebrated."

"And it will be... soon."

"Fine." He rolled his eyes. "I'll just keep paying the news papers to not print about your... added dress size..."

Her eyes narrowed. "Chuck!"

"Blair, you're not exactly a shut in, and there are a lot of people who have two eyes and a phone."

She huffed a little and let it go... for now.

She folded her arms between the swell of her ever growing belly and breasts. "And you don't fool me, Chuck Bass. You're scared too!"

"The baby is going to be fine."

"I'm overly worried about the baby." She conceded, but pointed at him. "But you are overly worried about me."

He stopped massaging her foot and got up from the bed.

"Hey! I have tension!" She huffed.

He turned the bathroom light off, and returned to her, climbing in beside her. He helped her readjust her pillows so that she could curl onto her side, and he molded his body to her back. His hand slid over her growing stomach. "I'll just be happy when its out and you're okay."

She knew he'd been thrilled when she told him she was pregnant. They both wanted children, but it had been a bit of a surprise... sort of. They were Chuck and Blair, and they were having a lot of the best sex of anyone's lives. She knew in the back of his head, right from the start, he thought about how he'd lost his mother in childbirth, and that he never wanted to lose his wife.

She covered his hand with one of hers and squeezed it. "I'm going to be fine. It's me and you forever, remember?"

"Of course I remember. You didn't sign a pre-nup." He teased before her elbow found his ribs and he grunted.

"Maybe by our fourth child we'll both be less nervous." She teased.

"Two, Blair, we're only having two." He reiterated. He wanted children, but he also wanted her. Two was all he was willing to risk with her health.

"We'll see..." She murmured as her eyes grew heavy and closed. "I love you..."

"I love you too."

He leaned up and kissed her temple, before snuggling back into her and drifting off himself.

The next day she was leaving her law office when an old shadow crossed her path.

"Blair?" Dan cleared his throat and ran a nervous hand through his overly long mop of hair.

She looked at him from behind her Chanel sunglasses, and didn't say anything. In fact, with barely a faltered step, she kept walking to her waiting limo where her driver held the door open for her.

"Blair, don't you think you owe me at least a few moments of your time?"

She stopped dead in her tracks and turned on her heel. Icy cold radiated from her voice. "Owe you? However could I owe you anything? You dragged out our divorce, and when our marriage was finally done, you dragged out all our dirty laundry by writing a tell-all book."

"I changed the names..." He said sheepishly.

"Oh yes, Claire and Charlie. How original." She scoffed.

"I'm sorry, it's just that... There's a hint of a movie deal for the book..."

"Good luck with that."

"That's just it... The production company is nervous about... you know..."

"What I will have to say about it? Or more threateningly what Chuck might have to say about it?"

"He gets the girl in the end." Dan bit out.

"He didn't win me. I chose him. Dan, what you never understood was that I was never a prize. I was a whole person. Chuck saw that. Chuck still sees that, and he loves all of me."

"You're delusional." He mocked her, having never wanted to try to understand Blair and Chuck.

"Goodbye, Dan."

He grabbed her wrist right around the time that three paparazzi emerged from an alley.

"Sign the release papers, Blair."

"Rot, Dan." She bit out through a huge smile at the photographers as she pulled away from him. The three were close enough to hear her now. "It was nice bumping into you, but I must go. I get so tired these days, what with the baby..." She slid her hand over the top of her stomach to the bottom, which pulled the dress tight and let everyone see her bump.

The flashes went off and she left a stunned Dan, and three soon to be wealthy photographers on the sidewalk.

She went straight to Chuck's office. She waved passed his assistant, a happily married 53 year old woman, and headed right in.

Chuck smiled at her with the happy grin he often gave her when she surprised him with a visit... or always. She had a knack for making Chuck Bass happy.

"To what do I owe this lovely surprise?"

"I saw Dan."

Chuck scowled.

"And I announced to New York that we are pregnant!"

Chuck smiled.

Three and a half month later they lay in a hospital bed, with their newborn son cradled against Blair's chest.

"He looks like you." Blair whispered with a tired smile.

"You're mistaken due to all the drugs and childbirth. I have a clear head, and can assure you that he looks like his mother."

"You'll see." Blair promised, knowing that with every day, her son would look more and more like his father. This was why she was so set on his name.

"Charles Bartholomew Bass II."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"I pushed him out of my vagina. I get to win this one."

He rolled his eyes. "Blair..."

Her huge eyes were luminous as they gazed up at him. "One Chuck Bass made my life happier than I ever knew could be possible. Just think what another could do?"

"Fine." He kissed her.

"I love you, and I love Charlie."

"I love you, and I love Charlie too."

The End
