Author's note: So Sorry everyone for not updating in like forever. I really am sorry 'bout that. I've been M.I.A because of exam's, then went on a trip, and at one point I even forgot I had a Fanfiction account, and that I have a story to finish. Well now I shall finish it. I think that there will only be about 2-3 more chapters. And I am not sure if I want to do the second book (You can leave reviews, If you want me to continue). Well anyways, I am going to stop talking now, and start writing. So here you go...

(Also there's going to be a time jump)

Chapter 39:

Avery enjoyed being in the Maze, but today she didn't. She knew her way around and how to get to where they were going but she felt nervous. Teresa was walking next to her, who was really quiet. Thomas lead the way with Minho. Avery didn't really want to be up front even though both boys asked her to be. She didn't feel comfortable. She doesn't want to go back to where she came from, if she even came from there. She was scared. She hated to admit it but she was. They all were. Another thing she was scared about was that they hadn't seen any Grievers. Which was werid.

Ten minutes later and still no Grievers. No one had spoke since they left the Glade and no one smiled. Avery was glad it was quiet by angry too.

"Isn't werid that there are no grievers around?" she asked the group. Thomas stopped walking and turned to face her.

"You're are none. But we should be glad for that." Thomas replied, turning away again and walking ahead.

"If they're not around where are they then?" Teresa asked.

"Probably waiting for us at the end." Avery said, her tone deadly. Thomas stopped again.

"We'll just have to hope that they aren't."

Twenty more minutes passed and they were finally there. Section 7. Thomas kept on going, Minho paused at the Gate. Everyone walked past him except for Avery. Minho hugged her.

"I know you're scared. We all are. We'll get through this okay." Minho said into her ear.

"I know. I love you"

"I love you too." they pulled away, and held each other's hand. They were finally doing it. They were finally getting out.

Thomas pulled out the key, they got from the Griever. The beeping started, Thomas followed it and everyone followed Thomas. Turn after turn the beeping got louder and louder, and each time it got louder the beeping got faster. Finally after one more turn they were face to face with the door. Thomas just stared at it. For a few second he did nothing. Then he turned.

"We'll finally be free." He said.

"Because of you" Newt spoke up.

"Not just me, everyone helped get out." Thomas told us. "Now who's ready to leave this bloody place?" he said. Everyone cheered. Except Avery. She was too frightened to do anything. Thomas turned and placed the key into the slot. At first nothing happened but then slowly the doors opened. One after another. Avery counted five doors, at least. But something lay behind those five doors and it was not home. Three Grievers were waiting. Thomas gasped and glanced at Avery. She had been right, they were waiting for them at the end. They were the only thing standing in the way of freedom.

"What do we do, Thomas?" Someone shouted out.

"We fight!" he said as he grabbed his spear and charged. Minho followed, then Newt after in after them. Soon there was no one left outside the door, they were all inside fighting to get out. So far they had only beat one Griever. Avery and two others were fighting one. The Griever struck and killed one. Knocked the other down and pushed Avery over the side. She almost went down into oblivion but someone grabbed her hand. When she looked up Minho held her.

"I got you!" he yelled. "Don't let go!"

"Does it look like I want to let go!" she yelled back to him. He started to pull her up but their hands were too slippery, from the sweat.

"I need help over here!" Minho shouted out. Minho tried to pull her up again, but she felt like she was only slipping down further. Suddenly someone else had her, then another. Thomas and Newt. But just as the almost had her up, something grabbed her from beneath. She cried out as she felt a searing pain in her side.

"Hold on Avery!" Thomas yelled out. A few more boys grabbed their spears and threw them at the Greiver, who still had a hold of Avery. After the fourth spear the griever gave up and let go. The boys quickly pulled Avery to safety. Once she was up , Minho grabbed her and helped her through the gate. As soon as the last person was in, who happened to he Thomas, the door immediately closed. Everything was pitch black. No one could see anything and the only thing they heard was breathing and Avery's muffled cries.

"What's going to happen now, are we stuck in here?" Chuck asked. Then there was another door and a bright light.

"No, Chuck..." Avery said. "One step closer to freedom." She looked up at Minho. Who kissed her quickly and passionately.

"I thought I was going to lose you back there." he said quietly.

"Don't worry, it will take more than that to get rid of me."

(Sorry if this chapter is bad.)
