Hi everyone! This chapter is slower in terms of action but it's wrapping things up before we move on to the big part of the story. Thank you for reading/reviewing! I hope you all enjoy this chapter.
Mony19, Thanks. I wanted to add the Piper part because I love their relationship :) dmpanda5, I'm glad you think that's interesting too. Patty89, Beuty6, and - Thanks for reading!
Prue woke up a few hours later feeling rejuvenated. The burning sensation had disappeared along with the sharp pain. She opened her eyes to see the whitelighter still passed out on the chair across from her.
She smiled, lifting her head off of Phoebe's lap. Her sister had spent the last few hours propped up against the arm of the couch. Her green eyes looked around the room. It was early in the morning and no one seemed to be awake yet.
Phoebe began to stir from Prue's movements. Her hand fell down to where Prue's head was just resting seconds before and her eyes were open instantly.
Prue was quick to grab her hand, letting her know she was still there.
"You're awake" Phoebe groaned as she stretched her whole body while remaining on the couch. Chris woke up across the room, looking startled for a moment.
"How do you feel?" Phoebe asked, looking at her sister.
"Much better" Prue smiled. "Sorry for the dramatic entrance".
Phoebe pulled Prue into a tight hug.
"Oh, this was nothing. Wait till you hear the drama we've been having". Phoebe got up from the couch.
"How are you feeling mystery boy?" she teased Chris as he rubbed his eyes.
"Perfect" Chris responded. He stood up to stretch his legs.
"Great!" Phoebe chirped. "We should have some coffee!"
Chris hesitated, looking over to Prue.
"Oh yes please!" Prue raked a hand through her raven hair. "I've missed coffee".
Prue's words reminded Phoebe of the loss of her sister but she dismissed them for now. She looked over to the tired whitelighter.
"I'll make a pot. You stay with her". She pointed to Prue with forceful eyes. Chris nodded.
He paced around the room to stretch his legs. A moment of silence passed before Prue spoke.
"So you're their new whitelighter?" Prue looked up at the young man. She had seen him in the room before, but hadn't been able to speak to him much.
He gave her a silent nod. His posture was stiff.
"I am" Chris responded. "Until everything is sorted out with Leo that is".
"And why does Phoebe think you're a mystery?" Prue studied him. There was something familiar about him but she couldn't quite place it yet.
"You'll find out in time". He flashed her a sideways grin. It stood out along with his strong jaw line. That was a grin she had seen many times. She knew it.
One Week Later
Piper had just finished changing Wyatt when she heard a knock at her bedroom door.
"Come in".
She placed Wyatt on a babymat on the floor with a few of his favorite toys. She looked over to see her oldest sister standing at the doorway.
"I was just wondering if we could talk when you're done putting Wyatt to bed". Prue closed the door quietly behind her and sat down at the end of the bed. Piper took a seat beside her.
"I'm fine. I just want to enjoy being with you" Piper whispered. She still had a constant fear that Prue would be leaving them soon. Part of her wondered if that's why her sister was still sick.
"Sweetie, Leo and Andy have both been gone for a week. I think we need distractions" Prue laughed, looking around the room that used to be hers.
"Maybe a wine night!" Piper beamed. The sisters used to open a bottle of wine after a long day and talk by the fire.
Prue hesitated.
"We'll see if I can keep my dinner first".
She had been sick ever since she came to the physical plane. It had been just under two months since she reunited with Andy...
But that's impossible. She shook off the thought. She knew that dying young meant she had given up many of life's pleasures.
Piper bit her bottom lip. It had been a week since Prue drank the potion. Chris was perfectly fine and off demon hunting the last two days, but Prue was still throwing up frequently.
"Sounds good" she smiled back at Prue. Wyatt crawled over to Prue's leg and grabbed hold. He used her leg to pull himself up.
"Hi there" Prue cooed at the infant.
"He likes you" Piper couldn't help but be warmed at the sight of Prue with Wyatt. It was something she had always hoped would happen. Prue lifted him into her lap and kissed his fingers as they explored her face.
"Well I certainly like him". Prue giggled as he began to play with her hair now. "I can't get over how much he looks like Leo".
Piper nodded. It was then she saw Prue's face pale. She knew that look.
Prue handed Wyatt over to Piper and bolted towards the bathroom. Piper placed Wyatt back on the floor with his toys and made her way over to the doorway.
She cringed as she heard her sister throw-up. Blue lights filled the room but when she turned around Andy stood behind her.
"Andy, hi" she smiled at him. "You're back".
Andy grinned. "I am. Prue's here?
Piper pointed towards the bathroom door. Seconds later, the sounds of Prue throwing up again could be heard. Andy winced and rubbed the back of his neck.
"She's still sick?"
Piper nodded. "Chris is fine though".
Andy let out a sigh of relief. He turned and knocked on the door.
"Prue, it's me".
"Come in" she answered. Andy looked at Piper once more before opening the door slowly. When he entered the bathroom he could see Prue leaning against the shower.
"Nice to see you again".
Andy leaned down and kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry, I couldn't leave".
"I know". Prue smiled.
"I hear you're feeling pretty terrible" Andy caressed her cheek. She nodded as he pulled her into his lap and captured her lips with his.
He decided to wait until a little longer before bringing up his suspicions. He had always dreamed of having children with Prue, but if it was impossible then he didn't want to get their hopes up.
Attic
Paige flipped through the Book of Shadows, hoping to find something about why her sister was sick. Perhaps they did something wrong with the spell?
She enjoyed sharing a room with her the last week. Every time Prue would wake up to be sick, Paige would go down to the kitchen and grab her lemon water. It always ended up with the two of them talking in the moonlit kitchen.
It was time that Paige never thought she would get with her sister. She was happy to have it, but hoped she could at least take away Prue's discomfort.
Her train of thought was broken by the sound of footsteps approaching. Phoebe and Piper wandered into the attic.
"What are you doing in here alone, Missy Paige?' Phoebe asked, taking the spot next to Paige by the book.
"I'm trying to figure out why Prue's still sick" she sighed, closing the book.
"Did you find anything?" Piper asked, peeking over to see how much of the box marked "Prue" had been emptied.
"Nothing specific. The spell should be fine". Paige raked a hand through her hair. "There's several reasons why it could be happening … It could be because her physical body is needed here but not meant to be, if we truly did mess up the spell somehow, or if she's carrying a mortal child".
Piper laughed. Phoebe was tense. Suddenly, a thought occurred to Piper and her smile faded.
"What if she is really only needed for the evil Chris is talking about …"
Phoebe walked over and pulled Piper into a tight hug.
"Worry about that when it happens. We have to enjoy what time we have either way".
Piper nodded, fighting off another set of tears. She wasn't going to cry today.
"I think we need some tea" Paige whispered, knowing the four of them needed sister time.
She took Piper's hand in hers and made her way to the stairs. She stopped and turned to Phoebe.
"I'll be right behind you".
Paige nodded and left the attic with Piper.
Phoebe opened the book and flipped through the book hoping to find some information that Paige had been looking at. Moments later, she heard someone coming up the stairs. She closed the book quickly and made her way to the door.
She met up with Andy near the top of the stairs. He seemed nervous. She could sense it.
"How's Prue?" She asked, trying to read more emotions off of the inspector. He stopped, and flashed her his trademark smile.
"She's much better than the last time I saw her".
Phoebe's lips remained tight. She leaned in closer to him to keep her voice quiet.
"Andy, is there something you know that you're not telling me?" She whispered.
Andy was tense. She could feel him become much more nervous.
"No" he responded, shaking his head.
He truly knew nothing. Everything was just suspicion right now.
"Just wanted to check". Phoebe raised an eyebrow at him before making her way down the stairs to join her sisters.
Andy tip-toed into the attic, looking behind to make sure Phoebe wasn't following him. He flipped through the pages and began to look for information on angelic pregnancies when he heard Piper shriek from downstairs.
Living Room
"Oh Chris!" Piper sighed, looking down at the floor. "You're filthy!"
Their young whitelighter stood before the four sisters covered in soot. Only his green eyes and white teeth were able to be seen through the sut. Prue handed him a towel and he cleared off part of his face.
"Thanks" Chris flashed her a grin.
"Can I please ask what you're doing to my clean floors?" Piper asked as Andy orbed in beside them looking relieved.
"I was in the underworld trying not to get followed. It's a dirty place" he explained.
"You've been gone almost two days" Paige noted.
"I couldn't leave. There's a lot going on down there". Chris made sure they were all looking and lowered the towel from his face. He looked directly at his mother, knowing she would understand the most. "We don't have a lot of time. The Source is back".
