Puck woke up with a huge smile on his face. The events of the night before were playing through his head.
Mercedes's breath evened out as Puck ran is fingers through her hair. They cleaned up themselves, and Puck immediately pulled her back to bed. He wanted to cuddle with her, and she obliged with a giggle. They stayed like that for almost an hour, going in and out of rest, and whispering secrets to each other. It was simple, and it was intimate. He felt like this brought them to a new level in their relationship, and he hoped she felt that way, too. Eventually she had to leave, so he held her hand as they walked to her car. With another deep kiss, he let her go and watched as she drove away. When she turned down the road and couldn't see her anymore, he went right back to bed, the images of their activities ran ramped through his mind.
He shifted in his bed to check his phone. There were no notifications, so he texted his girlfriend a 'Good Morning' and went to the shower where he took care of himself. Twenty minutes later, Puck came out of the shower and got dressed. He checked his phone and smiled when he saw that she responded. He texted her he'd be over soon, and she responded with 'I can't wait ;)' That motivated him all the more to move quicker.
After going downstairs and kissing his mother hello, he took off to Mercedes's house where she was already standing outside. He smiled brightly at her, and she sported a shy one herself. Her hands were clamped in front of her, it was then that he noticed how radiant she looked. With a cute dark blue skater dress on, and some boots, she stood nervously at the end of her walkway.
"Good morning, my beautiful queen." He greeted after he climbed out of his truck.
"Hello, my handsome man." She piked as she began to hug him.
Holding her again had made him want to go further than they did the night before. Maybe they shouldn't've done what they did last night, because now he'd always be want more. Guess this is where a new strength will have to come into play.
"You look nice." Puck noted as he took a step back. "Where you going?" Mercedes shrugged.
"I don't know. I was hoping we could go do something fun. Maybe… go for some breakfast? Did you eat anything?" He shook his head, and she smiled wider. "Neither did I." He saw a bit of mischief in her eyes that echoed from the night before. He smirked, and pulled her in close again.
"Yes, you can get your breakfast. What should we do after?" He inquired as he rose an eyebrow.
"I don't know, how about we talk about that after I get some waffles!" She piped with wide excited eyes.
"With a look like that, how can I deny your request?" He grabbed her hand and led her to the passenger side of the truck.
"Thank you." She said when he opened the door and she climbed in. He waited till she was seated properly before closing it again and running to his side.
"Where do you want to eat?"
"I don't care." She said, grabbing his hand and lacing their fingers. "So long as they have waffles."
"How's about the pancake house?" She shrugged.
"Sounds good." She smiled sweetly at him, and scooted down the bench so she was sitting right next to him. Placing her head on his shoulder, he turned his head to kiss her before resting his head on her own.
"You know…" He began, drawing circles on the back of her hand. "I could not stop thinking of last night. It even seeped into my dreams." He felt her hide her face against his arm and he smiled wider. "And what we did last night was better than I could've imagined." He admitted and she moved her face between his arm and the chair.
"Oh my gosh." She mumbled and he chuckled.
"What?" He said, raising his arm to put it around her, and hopefully to make her look at him. When he didn't, he kept his arm up, and glanced at her. "Mercyyy…" Eventually, she looked up at him, her face red. "What're you doing, silly girl?"
"Nothing. I just, I enjoyed last night, but I've never been intimate like that with someone before. And I don't know. It was my first time, doing anything like that, I just hoped I was good." Puck smirked and maneuvered his arm to rest around her. He brought her closer to him.
"Are you kidding? You were amazing. It was more than I expected, and if we did it now it wouldn't be soon enough." Was that a piggish thing to say? "I mean, just that, I always want you, Mercedes, and I have absolutely no doubts that you'd make me feel good baby, you did last night. I'm just.. wondering if now I made you feel good." He glanced at her, and her eyes widened.
"It was amazing. You.. that... I never experienced anything like that before." She confessed, and he smiled proudly at himself again. "I've always wanted to do those things with you… and more… and I enjoyed it." Puck quirked an eyebrow, he couldn't help his next question.
"Wait, so you would… think about me, like that?" He asked, and she covered her face.
"Well, yeah… I mean, you are my boyfriend, and you know. Feelings come up…" It was cute watching her talk about it. You could tell this was new for her, and he loved that he was the one she was going through this with.
"So you would… do things while you think of me?" She looked at him incredulously, and he shrugged. "I do when I think about you!" He confessed, and her jaw dropped further.
"Noah!" She squealed, her face growing red again.
"What? We're in a relationship, we're in love. We can talk about these things." He stated, and she looked thoughtful.
"I know, but this is still really new for me. I mean, I trust you, but you have to understand what this is like for me."
"I do. And I love that I'm your first. I hope to be your only." He gave her a pointed look to which she giggled at, and she nodded.
"I don't see that changing anytime soon, Puck." She kissed him on the cheek, and he smirked again as he realized she didn't answer his question.
"So wait, do you though?" He inquired again, and she threw herself against the chair in fond exasperation.
"Noah!"
Mercedes giggled as Puck was nibbling on her ear and she pushed him off. "Okay, thats enough." She said and he back off with a small smirk.
"Fine." He obliged as he grabbed his smoothie. They took their breakfast to go and went to a nearby park. The chill of fall was already upon them and the air felt nice. It was incredibly hot during the summer and it was nice to have a cool breeze. Puck looked over at Mercedes who was finishing her waffle with a small smile on her face. "So, you excited your dad is gonna be home in less than a week?" He piped, and she beamed at him.
"You have no idea. Its been a long nine months." She answered. "I know he'll be happy to see you." She winked and he cleared his throat.
"Y-you think so? I mean, we're together now. It must be a weird thing for him to grasp." He stammered as he rubbed his head.
"Oh come on. You're not afraid of my dad, are you?" She teased. "He practically considers you family. My dad loves you, Puck."
"Yeah, but that was a different time, different context. Pre dating you era." He motioned to her. "How far does your dad's love for me go? I don't know, we'll find out next week I guess." He sat up straight, an idea forming in his head. "Or, we can just wait till he settles in to drop the news on him?" Mercedes looked him dead in the eye as she rose an eyebrow.
"Excuse me? Like hide that we're together?" She clarified and he shrugged.
"Well, not hide as so much like 'wait'?" He stated hopefully and she shook her head.
"Are you out of your damn mind?! Do you want to be killed? We're not going to hide or 'wait' like you so eloquently put it." She scolded. "If he asks, we're telling." Puck's eyes lit up.
"I see what you're saying. Like, it would be an unspoken thing between the three of us! Like the military, how they have that 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy… yes… good id-OW!" He was stopped short when Mercedes smacked him up the head. He rubbed it soothingly as he eyed her. "What was that for?"
"Bringing you back to earth." She eyed him back, "That policy is not even at all relevant to what we're going through, Noah. And I'm not getting at anything. I'm serious, we're going to tell him. No lies. No secrets." She reprimanded, and he continued to side-eye her.
"That wasn't necessary." He said softly.
"Yes, it was." She answered immediately.
"I think you owe my head a kiss, that was really hard."
"Mmm, nah. Make you think twice before you talk about secrets and stuff." She said looking straight ahead of her at a few kids playing in the park.
"You're being harsh." He stated, and she looked at him, feigning a pity look.
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Now, you're teasing me."
"What makes you think that?" She asked innocently, and he pressed his lips together in mock irritation as he turned his gaze away from her.
"Aw, don't be upset." She said, putting her arms around him, and he tried weakly to get away from her. "Don't be like that."
"I'll consider it, if you give me some sugar right here." Puck said, pointing to his cheek. He peeked from the corner of his eyes and turned his face just in time for their lips to make contact. She opened her eyes widely when she felt his lips, a smile forming across her face, and he started laughing. He got up to run away from her.
"You little snake!" She chuckled as she began to chase him down the hill. Mercedes watched as he looked back at her right before he stepped into a little dip in the ground. He quickly recovered, but he was now limping. Mercedes watched incredulously when he kept running despite the limping. She picked up the pace with squeals of delight when he stopped and turned around to chase her. By the time she realized what he was doing it was too late, he'd already had her in his arms. She went to push him off but they both lost their footing and went down. Both landing on the ground in a "Hmph." First Puck, then Mercedes right next to him. He went to climb on her but she was a moment too quick. Sitting up she was on him in a flash, pinning his arms above his head.
"You surrender?" Her breathing was ragged from running and laughing. Puck took her in, how her hair was a bit disheveled, and how her bangs swiped across her face, oh how he liked what he saw.
"To you? Always." He huffed through chuckles, and she grinned at him in satisfaction. "Where did you learn that?" She looked at him and rolled her eyes playfully.
"Seriously? Have you met my older brothers?" She countered and he shrugged.
"Yeah, but they suck at wrestling. Even when they tag team." He teased and her jaw dropped scandalously.
"Ohh, I'm so gonna tell them what you said." She laughed and he joined in, too. Their breathing evened out and Mercedes was about to climb off of her boyfriend when he stopped her by the hand.
"No, stay." He protested.
"We're in public, I have to get off of you." She replied right before kissing him swiftly on the lips and standing up. Puck groaned.
"So?" Mercedes giggled at his salty tone.
"So, its not acceptable. Not everyone wants to see our PDA, they just want to enjoy their time in the park."
"I don't care."
Mercedes shook her head as he stood up, too. He grabbed her hand as they walked back to their belongings. Puck glanced down at their laced fingers and he squeezed her hand. She looked at him, and he returned the smile she had on her face. He looked forward again. He couldn't believe he spent all this time fighting with Mercedes, ignoring her, playing his childish games, hiding. He shook his head and supressed a sigh. He was such a coward growing up in the way he treated Mercedes and he knew because of that he caused more pain to himself than necessary. All that didn't matter now, because in the end, the drizzle still got his storm.
Mercedes was practically bouncing in her chair as they headed to her dad's unit. Her dad had been in state from this morning, but first they had to report back to the base where they held a recognition ceremony for the returning troops. It was great and all, but Mercedes thought the ceremony could wait, the army had him long enough.
"Mercedes sit still." Mrs. Jones said, and she grimaced at her mother.
"I'm sorry, I just can't wait to see daddy."
"Neither can I, but you're making me anxious." She countered and Mercedes smiled in apology.
"Yeah, Cedes, you're making me all jittery just looking at you." Jacob spoke up. The boys flew in from school, too, and they didn't care much more for the ceremony than Mercedes did.
"Sorry." She quipped and Jensen smirked.
They finally arrived at his unit. Rows of chairs were set out in front of a wide stage, and Mercedes couldn't help but search the site for her father. She didn't see anyone but regular civilians awaiting their very own heroes. Her mother quickly found a stall and the four of them climbed out of the car. Adjusting themselves from the ride, they were eager to find a seat in the front entering, they received a pamphlet with all the men and women's names written on the inside. The cover was seemingly patriotic, it read: We Salute You.
Whispers and murmurs could be heard among even the loudest of talkers, and Mercedes's leg began to bounce impatiently again, she was stopped by her mother's hand.
"Just a little while longer." She reminded the younger girl, and she nodded. "I know it feels like forever, but we'll see him soon, and he won't be going back for a while, if ever." Jen winked at her daughter, and Mercedes rested her head on her shoulder.
They sat like that until the speaker came up and announced that they were now commencing. He started out in thanking the families for their sacrifices, among the few fallen soldiers that were in the battalion. Her heart weighed heavy, and she thanked God again for his grace in keeping her father alive. After that, Mercedes didn't remember much of what he was saying, but he apparently left the crowd in tears, she waited and watched as everything passed in a blur. She finally snapped out of it when the troops came marching out. Hoots and hollers were being shouted from from the soldiers, and the families, mainly the families though. And as just about everyone stood on their feet, including the Jones's family. Mercedes glanced up at her mom who had a napkin by her nose that was hiding her wide smile. Mercedes glanced over at her brothers who both had their hands in front of them, tears in their eyes as they searched the crowd of troops. Mercedes joined them in looking for her father, and once she spotted him, she was immediately met by a smiling Michael, that was the last thing she saw before tears began flooding her vision. She closed her eyes and tears poured over as her vision cleared up again. He winked toward them, and she waved eagerly back. Taking physical inventory of her father, he looked relatively the same. Still tall, and muscular, still has his dimples. The only thing she could really tell was that he did get darker, despite his complexion, and he looked a bit smaller. Not to say he was small, or didn't have any muscle tone, it was just that he was thinner. Maybe she was being paranoid. Suddenly the crowd went quiet, allowing the speaker to continue.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you with honor and personal humility, 29th Support Battalion." And with that, cheer erupted from the crowd again as the troops were dismissed. Immediately, soldiers rushed off to spotted family members, and Mercedes was fighting the crowd to her dad.
She final broke through the last of people, and she collided into Michael with an 'Humph' on his part. She simply hugged him tighter. "Hi, baby girl." He greeted, and she squeezed her eyes tighter as she took in his voice and smell.
"Hi, daddy. I missed you so much." She responded.
"I missed you, too, more than words can say." He picked her up as he walked toward the rest of the family. He put her down and she reluctantly pulled away so he could greet the rest of the family.
She watched in silence as her dad greeted her brothers, then as her mother and father hugged then kissed. She could tell they missed each other, and it showed in the way they just looked at each other. They didn't have to exchange words, or even touch each other for everyone to know how they felt about each other. It was a beautiful moment, and Mercedes was glad she could just bask in it. After more hugs, tears and laughs were exchanged, Mr. Jones spoke up.
"How bout we get home now? I'm starved." He said, putting his arms around his girls. The JJ's were about to join them, when Michael stopped them. "Boys, go get my bags." Immediately, and without being told again, they ducked back to grab his stuff.
"How was your flight?" Mrs. Jones asked, and he shrugged.
"Longest flight I ever had. Felt longer than my actual being there. I missed my family." He said, kissing her on the head, and Mercedes leaned deeper into him. He turned his attention to her as he rubbed her arm.
"Is Puck coming over for dinner tonight?" He asked and she shook her head.
"He said he wanted our family to have some time together during your first day back." She answered as she looked up at him. His eyes were wide in surprise.
"Well, thats nice, but its not necessary. He's part of the family." He stated, and Mercedes shrugged.
"Thats what I told him, but he insisted." She said as she smiled widely at him. She loved Puck, and its not that she felt he'd be intruding, its just that he was right, it would be nice for them to be together as a family the first night he's back.
Mercedes's father had been home for a few days now, and it seemed Puck couldn't avoid the big guy for much longer. Sure, Puck wanted to see him again, but he was honestly frightened of what Mr. Jones would say when he found out Puck and Mercedes were dating.
It was too soon that he arrived at their house. He knocked and Mrs. Jones answered.
"Why're you knocking?" She rose an eyebrow and Puck chuckled, not understanding what she meant. "You know you can always come in."
"I know, but it still seemed polite to do." He countered and she eyed him playfully.
"Still scared to face Pop Jones after he found out you're dating his daughter?" She teased, and he looked at her in bewilderment.
"What?"
"Mercedes told me you were scared about him finding out. And that you wanted to hide it from him for a little while."
"Oh, I, it was a stupid idea. I never actually meant it." He stammered, and she chuckled before hugging him.
"I'm just teasing you. But that was a dumb idea. I'm glad Mercedes had some brains not to go along with it."
"Me, too." Boomed the voice of her father, and Puck straightened up significantly. He turned to face the taller man, a sheepish smile on his face.
"Hey, Pop Jones." Puck's eyes widened as the older man crossed his arms.
"So you, and my daughter, huh?" Puck nodded his head with a jerky motion. Mr. Jones inhaled deeply as he kept a stern look on Puck. He watched in horror when Michael took a step forward, closing the gap between them. He braced himself for some kind of physical contact, like a punch or something. He jumped when Mr. Jones's laugh erupted.
"Its about time, son." He said jovially, as he hit Puck on the arm. Puck covered the now throbbing area, figures as soon as he relaxed he'd get hit. "You should've saw your face." He laughed louder. Puck looked over at his wife and she was trying to hide her amusement.
"So you're okay that I'm dating Cedes?" Puck asked, and Mr. Jones shrugged.
"Yeah, oddly I am." He smirked at the younger boy, "I trust you, Noah. I still remember our talk. I still feel like I should tell you: f you hurt my daughter, I'll break your neck." He said, and with that he walked off to sit on the couch. Puck gulped and looked at Mrs. Jones who was shaking her head.
"Got it, sir." Puck said, and Michael smirked at him. "So, uh, how's it feel to be back?"
"Great!" He responded.
"How was it?" Puck questioned, not sure if it was an appropriate topic, too late, he already asked. He sat on a chair as Pop Jones let out a big sigh. He dug into the climate of Afghanistan, the not-so-hospitable flights, and how even at night it was miserably hot. As for details of what he did and what it was like, there was none. It was strictly shallow, and Puck didn't know how fe felt about that. Well, did he expect that they'd sit down and do a throwback of his time at war? Probably not, but something seemed closed off about the usually transparent, go-getter guy. Puck inconspicuously shook his head, of course he wasn't going to be open about everything, he still expected more, though.
"Glad you're back." Puck concluded genuinely. His gaze landed on Mrs. Jones, and he could read in her eyes that something was wrong in the way she looked at her husband. Puck's attention was turned toward the hall where he heard light footsteps coming closer. It was Mercedes. She was wiping sleep from her eyes, her hair rolled in a messy bun. She was yawning and Puck thought she looked so relaxed in her tights and loose t-shirt. Her eyes widened when she spotted him.
"Puck, I didn't know you were over."
"Been over." He teased, and she nervously fixed her hair.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to fall asleep, you took so long to get here." She playfully scowled as she walked over to him. He opened his arms and she plopped herself on his lap. Puck couldn't help but glance over at her father who had his attention on the T.V in a very intense way. His examination was cut short when Mercedes kissed him on the cheek.
"Hi." She whispered and he whispered it back. "Did you want to go for a walk?" She asked, and he nodded. Mercedes got off his lap, grabbing his hand to lead him to the door.
"Be right back!" She exclaimed and was met by her parents' mumbles.
They were walking hand in hand down the street, Mercedes looking intently at the ground. It was too quiet for too long. Usually it was okay, but there was something hanging in there air that made it thick.
"What're you thinking of?" He asked as he nudged his shoulder against hers. She looked up at him with a small, insincere smile.
"My dad, I suppose."
"What about him? He's back." Puck said. She let go of his hand, and he shelved them in his pockets to ward off the evening breeze.
"He's mostly back." She said, crossing her arms. "I mean, its not that he's been bad or anything, but theres still something about him that isn't here. I don't like it. Theres a slight disconnect…" Puck nodded, he'd seen it with the T.V.
"Yeah, I sort of noticed it."
"Like how he was looking at the T.V. Its like he was seeing it, but not really seeing it." She shook her head, continuing softly. "My family and I are trying to carry on normal, and I know he's going to change a little, it is war, but I don't know. We're hoping he'll be back soon."
Puck's heart broke. He didn't think about the effects of war, he was just stoked to see him again. It was a moment before Puck heard Mercedes suck in a breath. She turned her attention back to him.
"But anyway, I'm so glad he's home safe." She smiled, more genuine this time and he put an arm around her in agreement.
Puck rubbed his head as he realized how quickly time was passing. It was already December, and he wanted to give Mercedes something special for Christmas. He'd been going between gifts for weeks, and he felt even more lost than when he first started. He needed help, and after looking through his phone he came across the perfect person: Tina. He quickly sent a text asking for help and he was pleased that she responded almost immediately.
No problem!
Thats what led them to the mall. It was filled with the holiday buzz. Christmas music played in the background, amiss various conversations. Decorated handrails and christmas trees adorned the shopping center, and Puck was getting whiplash at all the sales signs posted in the windows.
"Where do we start?" He asked as he rubbed his head again, and Tina chuckled.
"What were you thinking on getting? Clothes, jewelry, maybe a bag? Some shoes, or nail polish? Make up...?" She kept listing things, and the more she did, Puck would get even more overwhelmed by the options. There was much more options than he thought! He looked back at her expectant expression.
"Uh.. that sounds fine."
"Ok, which one?" Puck hoped his face didn't look as confused as he felt.
"All of em?" He responded, and Tina simply looked at him with dead eyes.
"Oh, boy." She said before tugging on his arm to follow her.
They bounced from store to store, well Tina did, Puck was more the opposite. The more stores they went to, the more he dragged his feet. Whenever Tina held up something, or suggested something, he hated it. Then whenever Puck suggested something, Tina shook her head, lips twisted into something of disgust.
"Maybe I should get her a card." He offered, and she turned to him
"Okay, its a start. Hallmark is a few stores down." She said as she led the way. It didn't take long for them to make it into the large store, and Puck groaned out loud. "What?"
"Maybe I'll just write the letter myself." He said, leaving the store.
"What, why?" She questioned and he continued walking.
"Have you seen that store? Its like a mini mall for cards. No thank you." Tina rolled her eyes.
"Okay, then." She muttered.
An hour passed, and they made little to no progress. They both had totally different tastes, and it wasn't exactly like Mercedes' taste was more similar to one than the other. Puck moaned something about needing to eat, so they headed to the food court.
"Its no use." He said in the middle of chewing his fries.
"Theres so much use." Tina reassured. "I just don't think we went to the right store." She mused, and he grimaced.
"We've been to just about every girl store in this mall. You're kidding, right?"
"What do want to get her. Like, really think of it, Puck." She suggested, and he leaned back in his chair as he decided. He looked at the asian girl sitting across from him but she wasn't paying attention, she was too busy picking out the veggies from her noodles.
"Thank you for helping me, by the way. In case I haven't said it already." His statement made her stop short.
"Oh, its no problem, Puck. I actually think its sweet you're trying so hard to find something that'll mean something to her." She smiled sweetly and he returned it. "But thats the problem. I think you're trying too hard. Mercedes isn't hard to please. She's not picky or high maintenance the way other girls can be, she's chill. You know that, and I know she'll love anything you give her."
Puck thought about what she was saying, and maybe she was right. Christmas wasn't all about buying the perfect gifts anyway. It was about the thought. The thought.
"I think I know what I wanna get for her. But you're going to have to help me with the other part." He spoke up and her eyes danced in curiosity.
"What is it?" She piped, and he leaned forward to tell her his plan, a spark playing in his own eyes.
Puck and his mother were sitting at the dinner table when she spoke up.
"Have you decided what you wanted to pursue yet?" She asked before taking a sip of her soup. He looked up at her with a confused expression.
"I just know you were in between majors, for school… I mean."
"Oh well, I still want to do business. I'm also considering what Mercedes was saying about doing social work. I think I'd be pretty good in that field." He mused and she nodded.
"With everything you've been through in the last several years, I'd say you were suited for it." She hesitated before continuing, "You guys still planning on moving out-of-state?"
Puck noticed she tried to be nonchalant about asking, but he could tell she wasn't. Her eyebrows held a tenseness, and she was focusing a little too hard on that soup.
"Yeah, I think so." He replied, and she nodded in a jerky motion, eyes still fixed on the soup.
"Good." Her tone suggested otherwise.
"Mom?" He said, and she looked up at him with curious eyes. "You okay?"
Jamie's eyes were like Puck's, and he watched as some emotions played with them. When she was in a good mood, or hungry, her eyes were more green. If she was sad, or timid, the hazel would turn more brown. They were a gorgeous light brown when she first started to get help, and they were that same color now.
"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm just gonna miss you, you know." She answered as she reached for his hand. "I'm so proud of you, my son." She said with a smile, and he returned it.
"I'm proud of you, too, mom." He squeezed her hand, and her eyes welled with unshed tears.
"You're my sunshine." She said in an almost reverence way, her voice just above a whisper. The tears in her eyes threatening to fall over. "Where would I be without your light?" That was the first time Puck ever choked up. He didn't know his mom felt that way. Sure their relationship was getting better, and it was almost the way it was when he was a child, but still. It felt good to hear what he was to his mother, because even through all the crap, her approval, her love, was what made him feel whole. She was one of the few he considered family-She was one of the few he had left.
"No matter where I go, you'll always be in my heart." He said, looking at their joined hands. "You'll always be my mom, and I'll always be your son." Jamie was now letting her tears go, and he stood up to go by her. He embraced her as they both cried together. He felt a huge weight lift off his chest. A weight he hadn't realized was even there.
A few moments later, she pulled away from him. "By the way, before I forget, Mercedes asked if we'd like to join her family for Christmas dinner tomorrow." Puck mentioned, and Jamie smiled.
"Yeah, I'd love that."
Puck woke up the next day with a renewed sense of hope. The Christmas Eve dinner he had with his mother felt almost symbolic to what Christmas was about. Redemption, love, forgiveness, and hope. Sure, they were Jewish. They had their own customs and traditions, but after going to church for a lot of his life, and even more recently, he considered himself a messianic Jew, and thats what he was trying to aim for with his mother. He wanted her to find hope in something meaningful and true.
He made his way downstairs where he found his mother cooking breakfast. She had a smile on her face, spatula in hand, and dancing to Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas" she now had her eyes on him, and began to serenade him. Using the spatula as a mic, she sauntered over to him. He chuckled as he grabbed her now outstretched hand, and she brought him in to dance. They both silly danced as he led her around the kitchen. She was laughing so hard it was coming out as snorts, and Puck thought it would be cute to dip her, so he did. He could see the excitement in her face as he did, and Puck felt more complete than he had his entire life. Things were seriously looking up for him. He finally had the girl he loved, he's getting his mom back, and he's actually pushing toward a life he never thought would be possible for himself. Nothing could bring him down.
