Hey guys! I hope you're all ready for more awesomeness and haven't lost faith in me, because here is the epic finale for Night of the Cursed! In the epilogue for this chilling A-LionGleek productions' season premiere for Teen Titans season 6, Robin finally comes clean in full to the Titans about his deal, bold plans are made for the future, a final conversation is made between Savage and Lucifer, and the season premiere comes to an end. With all that being said, here's to hoping that you read, leave feedback, and enjoy!

But first, I'll just remind you one final time (for this 'episode' anyway) that I do not own Teen Titans, or the DC Universe as a whole, or any religious elements. Got that memorized. Good. Now onward with the story!

Epilogue:

Hours later, at 9:00 pm Jump City time, Robin found himself in his room, leaning up against one of the walls with his head touching one of the newspaper pages pinned on it. In spite of having had a delicious pizza dinner with his friends, all the time he'd now had to really think about his deal had now left him feeling quite uncertain as to just how to feel or what to think about his current future.

He sighed as he thought about the living nightmare he had to look forward to at the end of the next year and a half. As selfless as one half of his reasons behind making the deal had been, he'd also been selfish in making the deal at the same time. And now, even though the world had been saved and his friends could live the full lives they deserved, he himself would now end up going to Hell exactly 18 months from now at the very latest. And that was assuming that he didn't end up somehow dying earlier than that over the course of the very dangerous lifestyle he led as a superhero.

As he thought about his deal even further, he shuddered as he remembered the encounter with the pack of hell hounds back on Dante's Isle, even wincing slightly as he remembered the sound of the creatures' infernal growling as well as the sight of the three snarling faces of the pack's alpha, not to mention of all the others in the pack. How he wished more than ever that he wouldn't end up having to encounter one of those very creatures a year and a half from now, let alone in his life, period.

Then Robin thought about Nehreezah. "I'll see you in Hell," she had stated so casually with a half arrogant and half seductive smile on her face and even giving him a flirtatious wink before shifting to incorporeal form and rocketing off over the horizon. He shuddered. He was not looking forward to ever seeing her again at that particular moment.

Then he thought about the Knights of Hell, and he found himself revisiting the moment where he'd been hiding behind the rocks while Azazel sent bursts of lightning zooming past the hiding place from his fingertips. Right this very moment, he could hear the voice of the enraged thunder demon echoing in his mind. "You cannot evade me forever Boy Wonder! Sooner or later you will come out of hiding! And when you do, I can assure you, you will die!"

Robin winced as he remembered those words. Although he'd managed in the end to avoid getting killed by Azazel at that time, he had only delayed the inevitable. And considering just what sort of attacks Azazel had been willing to use to kill him off with, he had a feeling that getting killed by Azazel over the course of that encounter would have probably been far quicker and relatively less painless then the agonizing and drawn out death that would be dealt upon him by whatever hell hound got appointed to be his 'escort' for when the time of his soul's collecting came.

Robin sighed, placed his forehead up against the wall once more, and stated, "What am I gonna say to my friends?" he asked himself in a lamenting tone.

"Robin?"

Robin jolted and tensed up in shock at the unexpected sound of Starfire's voice coming from just outside of his room.

"Is everything alright?"

Robin turned his head to face the direction he'd heard his girlfriend's voice, silently thanking his lucky stars when he saw that the door to his room hadn't opened and allowed her to get a full view of him at that particular moment. The last thing he wanted her to see was him acting the way he currently was. She deserved better than that. "Uh, sure Star. I'm ok. Just blowing off a little steam, that's all."

"Ok then," said Starfire from outside the closed and locked bedroom. "I just came here to inform you that our friends are now ready to hear what you have to say about what happened back on the Dante's Isle, and they were wondering what was taking you so long after you departed from the common room after dinner was over."

Robin grimaced as he remembered how about three hours or so had passed since dinner, and he then said, "I understand. Just tell them to wait just one more minute, and I promise I'll be there in a heartbeat."

For a moment, nothing but silence answered Robin's comment. About a minute later, right as Robin was beginning to fear that either something terrible had happened or that Starfire was going to question whether or not he was telling the truth, he heard her slightly uncertain but still loyal voice say, "Very well then Robin. I shall go inform them of what you have said." And then he heard her walking away, her soft shoes making an oddly alien squishing noise as her feet treaded upon the carpet.

He sighed as he thought of what he'd now promised. Like it or not, he was now going to have to stop delaying the inevitable; for he had a very good feeling that the explanation he'd promised before about his encounter with the Arch Angels wasn't the only thing they'd be asking about. He let out another sigh, and hung his head. "Well, I guess it's time for me to be a man for once," he said to himself. And so, steeling himself and mentally preparing himself for getting the entire unpleasant business over with, he lifted his head up, a poker faced expression on his face, and calmly made his way out of his room and towards the common room.

When he entered the common room through the main doors directly facing the window/TV, he saw none other than Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven, and Cyborg standing right there in front of the back of the sofa. While Starfire seemed to be awkwardly wringing her hands with a half regretful and half uncertain look on her face, and Raven didn't seem to be positioned in any way that would recognizably convey her current emotions, Beast Boy and Cyborg had their arms folded across their chests and were directing stern looks towards their fearless leader. Robin mentally winced at the sight of this, for he had only seen his friends like this one time before this day. And that time, had been when they'd confronted him right in this very room after returning from their final battle that had occurred over the course of the infamous Red-X incident.

Robin sighed, for this time he truly understood how much he deserved whatever was likely coming. This time, he would not get angry and defensive if any of the other Titans started yelling at him. This time, he truly felt as if he deserved a good yelling or two from his friends. After all, it had been his first, and hopefully only time he'd ever betrayed them after everything he'd attempted to get himself more open around them following their adventures in Tokyo.

And so, with a deep breath, the Boy Wonder lifted his head to face his friends in the eyes. "I am sorry to have kept you waiting," he began. "And here I am, ready to give you the explanation I promised about my talk with the Arch Angels."

"So you have," said Raven. The sorceress then directed her gaze at Cyborg and Beast Boy, who grunted, and stepped forward. Despite himself, Robin winced at the sight of the two boys walking up towards him. He had a feeling about just what they had in mind.

Sure enough, immediately after the 19 year old half robot and the 17 year old verdant green shape shifter came to a stop about five footsteps in front of the 17 year old caped crusader, Cyborg said, "However, there's something else that's just as important, if not more so, that we'd like to hear from you first."

Robin hung his head, nodded slightly, and then lifted his head back up. "Name it."

Cyborg looked at Beast Boy, who nodded, directed a hawk-like glare at the Boy Wonder, and then asked, "Back at Dante's Isle, when the Knights of Hell had us all pinned up just before the arrival of the Arch Angels, there was a very interesting bit of information that Azazel mentioned before he attempted to stab you to death right in front of us."

Robin nodded, silently willing for Beast Boy to continue.

Beast Boy, his eyebrow raised as he realized that the Boy Wonder had no intention of repeating the information in question for him and making his game of information gathering easier for him, continued by stating, "According to Azazel, he and the other Knights of Hell who attacked the four of us while Abaddon had you pinned and forced to watch from the cliff overlooking that other valley actually did manage to finish the job. We actually were dead. And Raven even says that she remembers Samael claiming to back up Azazel that there was radio silence on me, Cyborg, and Rae when they checked for mental readings afterward. Lilith even said that she felt Starfire's soul leave her body, not to mention that she reportedly snapped her neck a full 360 degrees as opposed to manipulating her into committing self strangulation as you claimed."

The changeling then pointed his right finger at Robin in an almost threatening gesture. "However, and here's where it really gets interesting, not only did they claim that the four of us were in fact dead, but that you summoned a demon and made a deal with it to have us brought back to life. And likewise according to Azazel, in exchange for the Infernal Tablet, Fallen Tools, and your soul, we came back to life, alive and well."

After saying all this, Beast Boy stopped talking, lowered his finger, and folded his arms across his chest once more. Robin, maintaining as stoic an outward appearance as possible, nodded his head slightly. "So Azazel did say." He folded his own arms across his chest before then saying, "And I suppose I would be correct in assuming that you want to know who was telling the truth. Me? Or Azazel?"

"Correct," said Cyborg.

Robin nodded, his face showing no sign of the regret and guilt he was feeling inside for once again having both lied to his friends and failed to let them hear the truth come out of his own mouth rather than from a secondhand source. "Well I can tell you this," he began. "Demons lie. Everyone knows that." He then directed a look towards Raven. "No offense," he added.

"None taken," Raven stated in a noncommittal tone. "I am aware of how much material and media has very clearly pointed that out. And besides, I am half demon, so I would understand why you'd feel the need to save face in this situation."

Raven then caused her hood to be telekinetically raised so that it covered her head, directed her own stern face towards him, and folded her arms across her chest before saying, "But as also said by the very same material that has so pointedly made it clear how often demons lie, demons aren't incapable of telling the truth either; especially if the truth is something that would break peoples' spirits or likewise have a negative effect on them."

"She's got a point Robin," Cyborg agreed. "And besides, humans are just as capable of lying you know. And from past experience, we know very well how capable you are of telling lies."

"Ain't that the truth," said Beast Boy. As one, the two boys, plus Raven, all directed an identical look towards Starfire. From what Robin could see of his friends' shared facial expression, they were clearly telling Starfire something along the lines of 'it's time'.

Starfire nodded solemnly, stepped forward so that she was at the same distance from Robin as Beast Boy and Cyborg. Nodding her head, she directed her head at the two boys who had taken on a more brotherly role to her and said, "I am ready."

"Good," said Cyborg. He placed a heavy metal hand on her shoulder. "Good luck." He then turned around and walked back over to his original position by the back of the sofa.

Beast Boy nodded, directed a sidelong glance at Robin, and then positioned his hand as if trying to obstruct what he was about to say from Robin's ears, and then stage whispered loud enough for Robin to very clearly hear, "Knowing him though, I highly doubt you'll need it," before turning away and walking back over to take a position directly next to Raven. And when Beast Boy turned around to look in Robin and Starfire's direction once again, Robin couldn't help but notice that, despite the differences in eye color as well as several other elements regarding the physical appearance of their faces, both of the two chromatically challenged Titans had a very similar hawk-like glare on their faces.

Robin then tore his gaze away from the glaring chromatically challenged duo to look straight at Starfire, who nodded, and directed a half suspicious and half hopeful look towards him. "Robin," Starfire began. "After all our friends have said just now, I want you, if possible, to fulfill this request." She took a deep breath, exhaled, and then looked intently towards her boyfriend's mask covered eyes, her green eyes agleam with an emotion that Robin felt his heart breaking at the sight of. "Look me in the eyes, and tell me . . . was the Azazel lying?"

Robin gulped silently, and briefly looked straight at Starfire's beautiful green eyes; the same impossibly mesmerizing emerald orbs that were now filled with a look that was both clearly showing suspicion and pleading for him to say that Azazel had been lying. Robin hated having to see this look, and he silently found himself begrudgingly giving his other three fellow founding Titans points for what they'd now pulled on him.

It had been a very clever move on the other Titans' part to have Starfire be the one to make such a request of Robin. He knew that he would have had an easier time in convincing the other Titans of the exact opposite of the truth in this case. "Easier being a relative term," Robin thought to himself. After all, despite how easy he'd believed in the past it was for Beast Boy to be fooled and convinced of a lie, the information he'd come to learn over the last few days about the power of Beast Boy's animal instincts now left him feeling not entirely so certain as to whether or not it was harder to fool Beast Boy then the green changeling let on. Cyborg, being Robin's unofficial second in command, plus being armed with voice stress analyzers that he was not above activating in situations like this made him considerably more difficult to fool then Robin had always believed Beast Boy to be. And of course, Raven, due to a combination of shared personality traits, their shared mental link, and a small history of Robin having in the past proved himself both willing and capable of blocking his mind off from her telepathic and similar psychic abilities made her a very difficult person to fool. But of course, no matter how difficult it already would have been naturally to lie to any of the other Titans, he knew for a fact, and so did the other Titans, that he couldn't lie to Starfire. "Especially not about something like this," he thought to himself. "Well here goes nothing."

For a brief minute, Robin maintained eye contact with Starfire. But then he sighed, closed his eyes, and hung his head. "I'm sorry Star. I wish I could tell you otherwise, more than I can say, but Azazel was telling the truth. You and the others were dead, and I had you brought back to life; all at the cost of the Infernal Tablet, Fallen Tools, and my soul." He looked back up with his eyes open, wincing mentally as he saw the look on Starfire's face, and continued, "And I'm sorry that I had to tell you this Star, but it's the truth. I wish that I could say different, but I've already lied enough times today."

He directed his gaze towards the other three Titans. "And before you guys start yelling at me like you did after the first Red-X incident, just let me finish. I can tell you right now, that I was wrong in lying to you about all that stuff, and that I should have told you the truth right then and there after lunch. Or better yet, maybe even should have left well enough alone and let you stay dead." He took a step forward towards Starfire and the other Titans, pointing his finger at them as he did so. "But I couldn't just let you stay dead; I really truly couldn't."

Robin took a deep breath, exhaled, and then continued, "Yes, I'll admit, the reasons I made that deal and had you brought back to life were both selfless and selfish. They were selfless in that I knew, for a fact, that I wouldn't have stood a chance at stopping Savage and saving the world from what was about to happen on my own. And yes, they were equally selfish in that I just couldn't bear the thought of living without you, but that I have now only hypocritically set things up so that you guys will very likely possibly end up having to be the ones living without me."

The Boy Wonder hung his head, sighed, and then lifted his head back up. "And I'm sorry that I had to both go the lengths I went to in order to bring you back and lie to you about it. And if I could have had any say in the matter, I would have guaranteed that you would have eventually heard the truth come from out of my own mouth like I'd planned instead of from a secondhand source. But if I could go back in time, I would still make that deal to bring you back to life anyway."

Robin straightened himself up as best as he could, pointed at his friends, and then said, "It may haunt me for months to come yet, and you guys may yet end up waiting until the time comes for my soul to be collected before you finally forgive me. But nonetheless, as much as I regret my originally lying to you guys about it and failing yet again to let the truth come to you from me rather than being revealed by someone else before I got the chance, I would still allow myself to make that deal and sell my soul for you guys.

"I haven't said this to you guys often enough, but you guys aren't just my friends. You guys are my family. In fact, you've been more like a family to me than I ever felt I had when I was under Batman's wing and living in Gotham."

Robin looked intently at his friends. "And I've spent too many years now treating you like my subordinates and putting my duty before you guys. After all we've been through, and especially after our time together in Tokyo, I've come to realize that you guys deserved better than that. And I've since then started to become more and more open around you and treat you more like the friends and family I truly view you to be then the coworkers and game assets that Batman would have wanted, and still wants, me to view you as."

Feeling determined to finish his now very powerful speech, Robin clenched his right fist, slammed it against his left palm, and continued, "For four and a half years before our time in Tokyo, I let my training from Batman and my mind rule me and make the decisions for me. But as of Daizo's defeat back in Tokyo, I've had enough of letting my mind rule my life. At the moment I kissed Star in the rain after Daizo's defeat, I silently vowed that I would let my heart guide me instead and would treat you like the friends and family that you really are instead of like the mere combat allies and underling employees that Batman would prefer me to treat you like. And I'll be damned if I break that vow now or ever again."

He then spread his arms out to his sides, and said confidently, "And if I in the end go down in flames and burn up in Hell for following that oath, then so be it."

As Robin stayed positioned as he was, staring intently at his friends, the other four Titans gaped at Robin in shock. Even Raven looked visibly stunned. None of them had expected Robin to both take responsibility for his recent sins against them or for him to express his feelings about the whole mess as clearly as he'd just now done. From what they remembered about how he'd always acted in the past, especially in the immediate aftermath of the Red-X incident in which he'd been the one wearing the mask, they'd thought that he would explode in defensive anger, shift the blame to someone else, or likewise refuse to take responsibility for his negative actions. But now, with what he'd done now, he had truly spoken volumes of just how much he'd allowed himself to change after their adventures in Tokyo.

Then the four Titans all looked each other in the eyes, and found themselves actually smiling at how very mature Robin had acted and how very genuine he'd been. Starfire even had a quite dreamy look in her eyes as she thought of how very mature her boyfriend had just now acted. The Titans then turned to face Robin, nodded their heads, and smiled at their fearless leader in a mixture of pride and relief.

"We accept your apology," said Beast Boy.

"And we understand," Raven stated in accompaniment.

Robin gaped at his four friends. He had not expected this. "You . . ." he stated in uncertainty. "You guys aren't . . . upset?"

"Well now that you put it that way," Cyborg clarified, "we are still upset that you lied to us again and failed to come clean before we found out through a secondary measure again."

"But nonetheless," said Starfire before Cyborg could guilt trip Robin further. "We are glad that you have accepted responsibility for your actions and that you are willing to shoulder the burden for our sake."

Robin smiled in a slightly embarrassed tone, hung his head with a slight blush on his face, and said, "Um, thanks guys."

Beast Boy chuckled. "Dude, what do you think friends are for?"

Raven nodded. "Indeed," she then said before directing a serious look towards Robin. "However, before we discuss anything else, there is still one more question you need to answer."

"Name it," Robin responded.

"How long were you given?"

Robin grimaced. "Are you really sure you want to know . . . ?"

"How. Long. Were. You. Given?" Raven asked.

Robin gulped, hung his head, and then replied, "A year and a half. I have until midnight on January 1, 2019 to wait before my soul is to be collected."

Raven growled, "Cheating little fiends. You're supposed to get 10 years."

"Nehreezah said I had to make a sacrifice of years in exchange for asking a lot of her on short notice. At least that's the BS she gave me. And she was originally going to give me only one year alone, but I got her to raise it up by an extra half a year."

The other Titans all looked at each other, seemingly considering all this new information. "Well it's not a decade," said Beast Boy. "But it should hopefully be just enough for us to figure something out."

Robin raised his eyebrow. "What are you talking about?"

The other Titans looked straight at their fearless leader. "Need you even ask?" Beast Boy stated. "We're going to find a way to get you out."

"Totally didn't see that coming," Robin thought to himself sarcastically. He directed a blank look at the changeling. "I highly doubt that there's anyway that you can do that Beast Boy."

"Says the guy who gave me that big speech on hope last year," Raven stated.

Robin sighed upon hearing that comeback. "You guys just aren't going to let me carry out my part of the bargain in peace are you?"

"We're not going to let you go to Hell period," said Cyborg. "Not if we can say anything about it."

"That might not be your call," Robin said. "And besides, if there were a way for people to get out of that part of a demonic soul deal that easily, wouldn't we have already seen it in some book or other by now; or that the Brotherhood of Dante would have recorded it somewhere?"

"Well we haven't looked through their entire database yet," Cyborg commented. "So who knows what we could find."

"I'm serious guys," said Robin. "You really shouldn't start getting your hopes up like this. I could still very likely end up going downstairs in a year and a half from now, regardless of how much research you guy make."

"No Robin, you are not allowed to talk and give up hope like that," said Raven. "Not after how much hope you and the others continued to hold in the midst of our experiences with my father long after I'd given up and chosen to go through with the prophecy."

"This is different," Robin stated.

"How?" the other Titans asked in unison.

Robin gritted his teeth. "Look," he stated. "I know how much you want me to avoid going down to Hell, but I mean it. You guys might truly not be able to save me here. There's got to have been like thousands of people before me who went through the same situation, and none of them have escaped. And besides, as far as I know, not even the Brotherhood of Dante has managed to figure out a way to escape."

"That does not mean that there isn't a way to escape," Starfire countered.

"Well even if there is, I can't take it. Hell, I can't even search for it!" Robin took a deep breath, exhaled. "Look guys, the only reason I'm not attempting to search for a way to weasel my way out right this very moment is because your very lives depend on it. Nehreezah herself made it very clear that if I welch or similarly attempt to escape from having to go through with my final part of the deal, you guys will drop down dead all over again. And if I even attempt to so much as search for a way out, then that's welching. And I can't do that."

"You may not be able to search for a way out," Beast Boy said. "But as you have inadvertently made clear, me, Cy, and the girls are under no such inhibitions. And if you actually going through with any solution that we may potentially find means us dying, then we'll just figure out a way to get around that too."

"It's not that simple Beast Boy," Robin countered.

"Oh, but that's what makes it so much more fun," Beast Boy countered back with a sly grin.

Robin frowned, folded his arms across his chest, and then said, "You do realize that I can't openly support your attempts at this right?"

"Yes," Beast Boy admitted. "But neither do you have to do anything to discourage them." The changeling directed a smirk at the Boy Wonder.

Robin sighed. "If you say so pal."

"You got that right," said Beast Boy. "And besides, it would only be right for you to let us do this in even a slight way if at all." At the sight of Robin's raised eyebrow, the changeling continued, "Even before you started acting all open about it, you've already done so much for us. You risked becoming one with the dark side to protect us, sacrificed a chance at making a name for yourself as a solo hero in favor of having us as your friends and family, and now you've even gone so far as to sacrifice your soul and a free trip to Heaven for us. But now, after this kind of ultimate sacrifice; well, let's just say that it's our turn now to save you."

Beast Boy walked up towards Robin, pointed his right index finger at him, and continued, "And as much as you might not admit it, underneath your big show of saying that there's no hope in us attempting to find a way to get you out of your deal, the fact alone that you're going to neither encourage nor discourage it means that you're just as much hoping for us to succeed as you are believing that we will fail."

Beast Boy lowered his finger, directed another solemn gaze at the Boy Wonder, and finished his epic speech by stating, "To put it simply, after all the times you've fought and sacrificed and similarly metaphorically jumped under the guillotine for us, it's high time that you let us do the same for you."

Raven, Cyborg, and Starfire could only gape in shock at Beast Boy. Times in which Beast Boy made a powerful speech such as this one were very rare. But whenever the time came in which he did, it was always worth listening. Even Robin found himself staring in stunned shock at the shape shifter as he unleashed yet another surprisingly powerful and profound speech.

Eventually, Robin found himself giving a weak smile, and he bowed his head in respect. "I understand," he said softly.

Beast Boy nodded, a half proud and half relieved grin on his face. "That's good," he said. "I would have hated to have to repeat myself."

Robin actually chuckled when he heard this. "So, I guess we're done here?"

"Not so fast," Cyborg said. "You still owe us an explanation as to what happened during your talk with the Arch Angels before we go to bed tonight."

"Oh right," Robin said, scratching the back of his head awkwardly. "I forgot about that." And so, with the other Titans listening intently, Robin proceeded to tell them about his talk with the three eldest angels that hadn't fallen to darkness. But even as they listened to their fearless leader's story, they were all thinking of the same thing. They would try their hardest to find a way to rescue their fearless leader, even if it was the last thing they did. It would only be right.

. . . . .

"I see that you were at least smart enough to realize by now that I have again failed to escape. I certainly wouldn't have expected that level of intelligence at this point after the idiocy you managed to pull this time."

Savage glared silently at the fourteen blood red eyes staring pointedly at him from beyond the flaming vortex hovering in front of him. He had not initiated his newest conversation with Lucifer just for the fallen Arch Angel to rub his careless foolishness in his face. Clenching his fists in an effort to avoid blowing up at the Devil, he tensely stated through gritted teeth, "Indeed I have noticed that factor by now. And I admit that through both my discarding of the Infernal Tablet and Fallen Tools plus my letting the Boy Wonder live allowed him, by some miracle, to fight through your forces sufficiently enough to foil their efforts at dominating the world so that it would be easier for them to spring you from Hell in spite of the tragic absence of his friends."

"Absence?" Lucifer asked in an almost mocking tone. "Surely you are joking?"

Savage glared at the Devil. "No, I truly mean what I am saying. They were dead after all."

"Dead?" Lucifer asked in that derisive tone once more. "Hardly. They were right there with the Boy Wonder as usual, and they looked alive as ever."

Savage raised his eyebrow. "That's . . . that's impossible. I saw them die."

"Well it would appear that you would be blind then," Lucifer stated coldly. "But then again, I had forgotten that you had already been summarily dismissed before the grand reveal went down."

At this point, Savage's irritated look morphed into one of confusion. "What do you mean?" he asked.

Lucifer chuckled, his fourteen red eyes glowing with amusement. "Well Savage, if it would truly please you that much, I will go ahead and explain for you."

The fourteen red eyes seemed to position themselves as if the heads of the creature they belonged to were rising up to get an even better view of Savage. "As it would turn out, earlier this evening, Azazel, Abaddon, and Asmodeus had two things more in common than just the letter with which their names begin, their status as Knights of Hell, and their formerly being angels. The two factors in question? Well that would be they're both A: having suspected the Boy Wonder's involvement in summoning Nehreezah earlier this evening as well as doubting whether or not it had been a good idea for you to have Abaddon spare him, and B: turning out to be 100% correct in these very suspicions."

Savage raised his eyebrow. "I'm not entirely sure I get what you are telling me."

"There isn't very much to get Savage," Lucifer snarled spitefully. "Exactly as suspected by Azazel, Abaddon, and Asmodeus, the Boy Wonder, by taking advantage of the very items you so foolishly cast aside, summoned Samael and Lilith's eldest daughter Nehreezah and made a deal with her. And in exchange for both the items you discarded being safely returned to my crypt, plus his soul, the other four Titans that her parents and two of her uncles had worked so hard in killing, against my personal orders I might add, were brought back to life. And so, with their combined strength, plus some very unexpected direct assistance from my estranged brothers further upstairs from you, the newly reunited team of teenage heroes was able to avert the apocalypse for the second time in their lives. And thus, even now every single one of my underlings, sans Nehreezah and Agramon, are sulking around down in Hell, Dante's Isle has sunk beneath the waves with the portals close behind, and the very items that you and I went through so much trouble to make available are right back in my crypt."

Savage's eyes widened at the news of what Robin had done, and he found himself so surprised that he almost completely zoned out from hearing what Lucifer had to say immediately after bringing up that particular bit of news. "He did what?" he asked. "I thought he would never dare go that far!"

"Once again, you have been enough of an idiot to again underestimate the Boy Wonder and what lengths he's willing to go to for the sake of thwarting evil. Shocker."

At both the sound of Lucifer's tone and the sight of his red eyes narrowing in an almost accusatory fashion, Savage glared back. "Was that sarcasm I heard at the end?"

"Oh goody," Lucifer grumbled derisively. "What gave it away?"

Savage growled, pointed his finger accusingly at Lucifer, and bitterly yelled, "Well maybe I wouldn't have let the Boy Wonder stay alive and get the chance to undo my efforts at nullifying all chances of him foiling your plot if you'd just told me that he'd be willing to go that far!"

"Oh really?" Lucifer asked back in a cutting tone. "You truly think so? Well in that case, you're a bigger idiot than even I thought. Because considering both how much knowledge you've gathered from how many years you've lived and what you've managed to see of the Boy Wonder yourself, I shouldn't have had to tell you that!"

Savage growled, unable to come up with an appropriate comeback to this.

Lucifer snarled, rolled his eyes dismissively, and then hissed, "And while we're at it, why, oh why, did you DISCARD THE INFERNAL TABLET AND FALLEN TOOLS?! SURELY YOU STILL REMEMBERED HAVING FOUND IT CONFIRMED BY MY FATHER KNOWS HOW MANY SOURCES THAT YOU NEEDED THOSE PRESENT ALONGSIDE THE INFERNAL KEY!?"

"I had committed the spells and other information to memory!" Savage howled. "And besides, after having spent the last three months or more working for you, I'd thought I'd proven myself a good enough follower so that you and the Knights would put in a good word for me that would allow that particular requirement to be waived!"

"I do believe that you've now started mistaking me for a completely different being," Lucifer said coldly. "Honestly Savage, did you really think I'd be that stupid?! Why do you think I would have made those particular rules in the first place if I'd planned to just up and have them dismissed in favor of my own employees at the blink of an eye?! Who do you think I am? Trigon?!"

"Well you never follow the rules!" Savage roared.

"On the contrary," Lucifer growled. "I only follow my own rules! Yes Savage, I may be the Devil, but even I have standards!"

Savage grumbled and cursed under his breath. "Of course," he thought to himself. "Why didn't I think of that?" He then took a deep breath, exhaled, and then stated. "Look, I understand that you are ticked off about how my actions have directly lead to your most recent failure at attempting to escape. But hope is not lost. I can still go back to Dragon's Head Valley, access your crypt, and reacquire the Infernal Tablet, Fallen Tools, and Infernal Tablet so that they'll be ready for winter solstice this year . . ."

"Oh how ingenious, why didn't I think of that?" Lucifer stated in a tone that sounded the exact opposite of what he was saying. "Oh wait," he then continued. "YOU CAN'T ACCESS MY CRYPT! AND YOU CERTAINLY CAN'T ACCESS IT AT DRAGON'S HEAD VALLEY! NOT AFTER HOW YOU BLEW THE WHOLE PLACE UP, PLUS THE OTHER TWELVE LOCATIONS I MIGHT ADD, WITH THAT STUPID HELLFIRE BOMB IN YOUR FOOLHARDY EFFORTS TO TRAP THE TITANS IN MY CRYPT! AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO REMIND YOU OF THAT CONSIDERING THAT IT HAPPENED YESTERDAY!"

Savage bristled at these remarks, and prepared to make a comeback. But Lucifer wasn't finished, and he continued his angry ranting by savagely roaring, "AND SINCE YOU MANAGED TO CAUSE THE VERY FIRST INCIDENT IN WHICH ALL THIRTEEN OF THE PORTALS HAVE BEEN DESTROYED PERIOD, LET ALONE ALL AT ONCE, IT WILL TAKE ANOTHER TWO DAYS FROM NOW FOR A NEW SET OF THEM TO FORM! AND EVEN AFTER THEY FORM UP, THE FACT THAT THE CRYPT WAS ABOUT TO GO INTO TEMPORARY LOCKDOWN BEFORE THE DESTRUCTION OF THE ORIGINAL SET MEANS THAT IT WILL TAKE ANOTHER FEW DAYS FOR THE MAGIC TO REBOOT!"

Savage winced as he was reminded of these newest details. He eventually managed to state, "Well I can just wait until . . ."

"AND YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT TRYING TO GET ME TO TELL YOU WHERE THE NEW SET OF PORTALS CAN BE FOUND ONCE THEY'VE PROPERLY FORMED AND CHARGED UP!" Lucifer interrupted. "CONSIDERING HOW YOUR CARELESSNESS IS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR BOTH THE DESTRUCTION OF THE ORIGINAL SET OF PORTALS AND THE FAILURE OF THIS ATTEMPT AT THAT PARTICULAR PLOT OF MINE, THEN THERE IS NO WAY IN MY DOMAIN OR MY FATHER'S THAT I WILL EVER BE SO STUPID AS TO TRUST YOU WITH THAT KNOWLEDGE!"

Savage was about to try to make a reply to this statement when Lucifer then howled in rage, "AND EVEN IF I DID LET YOU GO AHEAD AND GET AHOLD OF THOSE ITEMS THE MINUTE ACCESS TO MY CRYPT BECOMES AVAILABLE ONCE MORE, IT STILL WOULDN'T DO ME ANY GOOD ANYWAY! NEED I REMIND YOU HOW THE KEYS OF DANTE CAN ONLY BE USED ONCE EVERY SEVEN CENTURIES?!"

Savage didn't even get the chance to respond before Lucifer finished, "WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY, SINCE YOU'VE NOW USED IT TONIGHT TO OPEN THE ALPHA DEVIL'S GATE AND IT IS NOW BACK IN MY CRYPT AS A RESULT OF THE BOY WONDER USING IT TO CLOSE THE GATE BACK UP, YOU'D HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE VERY FIRST VERNAL EQUINOX OF THE 28TH CENTURY AT THE VERY EARLIEST BEFORE YOU COULD EVER EVEN CONSIDER USING IT AGAIN! AND THAT WOULD LEAVE PLENTY OF TIME FOR EVERY HERO IN THE ENTIRE WORLD TO GET IT BACK FROM YOU AND HAVE IT PLACED BACK INSIDE MY CRYPT BEFOREHAND!"

After that final furious shouting storm, Lucifer finally stopped talking. Savage was completely speechless, unable to form up an appropriate comeback to Lucifer's very accurate and powerful dressing down. Savage eventually gulped, and hung his head in shame. "Damn," he thought to himself. "I just can't get a break tonight can I?"

"But fortunately for you," Lucifer growled, "I will yet allow you to live. I still need you for potential other projects in the future."

Savage directed a careful glance at the fourteen red eyes of Lucifer. "And what sort of projects might you be talking about?"

Lucifer chuckled, his red eyes starting to gleam with cunning and a calculating malice once more. "Like I have before mentioned, I have many plans. And even now, from the ashes of my most recently failed, and practically only multiple-use, plan, I have decided to take the risk at a different, and more one-chance attempt, plot."

Savage, in spite of how very quickly he believed that Lucifer was considering taking on one of his other, more risky, ideas for an escape attempt, found himself feeling quite intrigued as to just what sort of plan the fallen Arch Angel had now decided upon. "And what sort of plot have you decided to make an attempt at now?"

Lucifer chuckled, his teeth now starting to show in the blackness within the vortex, and responded, "I presume you remember how, directly after you asked if the Justice League would be a worthy target for assassination, I stated that I had other plans for them?"

"Yes."

"Well let's just say," Lucifer began. "That as of tonight, I have chosen to let a different team of heroes take their place in that plan."

Savage raised his eyebrow in half suspicion and half confusion. "You're saying that you've given up on that particular plan?"

"Oh I wouldn't call it giving up," Lucifer stated. "So much as I would call it adapting and allowing my plot to evolve from a trial concept into something potentially even better."

The seven headed dragon then looked directly at Savage once more, his red eyes glowing with pride and his dazzling white fangs showing for all seven of his heads. "And the reason I have chosen to replace the Justice League in this particular plan of mine, let alone chosen the specific team I have decided to cast as their replacements, is how the team in question has proven themselves just this very day alone plus the days before then, as a far more worthy choice. And of course, with that little change I've now made, I need only five key pieces in place before that particular plan inevitably succeeds. And what's more, as of this very day, I now need only to wait until a year and a half from now at the very latest before the very first of these pieces comes conveniently right into my grasp."
