Elena was in utter shock as she took in the scene in front of her: Damon on top of a woman, having sex.
He wasn't masturbating, he was betraying her by having sex with someone else than her.
This wasn't happening right now, but it was.
Tears welled up in her eyes, ready to cry, although she didn't want to cry at the moment.
However, she couldn't help, but let out a harsh sob, yelling, "How could you?"
Abruptly, Damon stopped in his tracks, turning around to face Elena's tear-drained face.
She shook her head in disapproval before turning her back on him in a manner to leave the scenario.
"Elena, wait!" He suddenly called, getting up to dress up. As he shouted her name, she made the mistake to look back, receiving the view of that someone who had the biggest fault in her breaking relationship with Damon. It was her ex- best friend: Bonnie.
Elena was aware that there had been something going on between Damon and Bonnie, some affair.
She had forgiven Damon, he had earned her forgiveness, but never would she forgive Bonnie. This incident was only another addition to her reasons why she wouldn't forgive Bonnie.
Once Damon was dressed, he ran down the stairs, following the crying Elena, whilst Bonnie was getting dressed to leave the house, using the door behind.
Elena wanted to go out as well, but was stopped by a hand on her arm, turning her around and forcing to meet the person's eyes.
She looked into a pair of icy blue eyes that held pity towards the brunette.
For a moment no words were able to leave her lips, her throat dry until she found the courage to free herself from his grip.
The first words, she shouted at him were the opposite of what she felt.
"I hate you."
Elena hit his chest with her clenched fists for several times, glaring and yelling at Damon.
"I hate you, I hate you...so much. You bastard, I hate you."
At once she pushed him away though Damon didn't react with his usual anger, even when she had been slapping his chest, he didn't hurt her physically.
His resignation angered Elena more, the consequence was more tears; hot tears in fury and frustration rolled down her cheeks.
"I loved you so much, so much and once again you break my heart. Can you only break me? Did I ever hurt you? Did I do something wrong? How can you be so cruel? Have you no heart?"
Elena cried in desperation, her hands running through her silky dark hair.
Damon sighed deeply, looking sadly at his girlfriend or rather ex-girlfriend?
He didn't know what to say to comfort her, so he just said the words that first came into his mind.
"I'm sorry."
Elena gasped, shocked at first before rage found her and she burst out like a Vulcan.
"Sorry? 'I'm sorry,' is all what you have to say? You can push your sorry elsewhere because I won't fall for it again, never again that I promise you. You and your sorry can move out of my house!"
Now Elena's outburst gave a reaction from Damon; anger gradually rose inside him.
"Your house? I believe it's ours." He spat.
"Ours? There's no ours. This house belongs to me. We bought it with my money." She hissed cynically.
"And how do you think you got the money? I got you the job." Damon shot back, glaring at her.
Elena huffed scornfully. "You got me the job? No, no, you found the spot, but I got the job."
Rolling his eyes, he returned, "If I remind the furniture we bought, but mostly it's with my money."
"You know what? You and your designer stuff can get out of my house. Enzo can bring your stuff. But now leave!"
She yelled and showed him the door.
Shaking his head, he stated, "This isn't over yet."
His stubbornness let her lose all control she had hold obey.
"Not over? This is the end! I never want to see your face again. I can't believe I was so blind for eight freaking years! I loved you for eight years with no boundaries, unconditionally and then you deceive me! Back then I was so naïve to forgive you, I shouldn't have trusted you. All the time I was faithful to whereas you cheated with someone I used to call my best friend. This should have been years over, it's now."
Elena cried, releasing her emotions she had hold back. It hurt her more than anything to break up with Damon, but this was the right decision. Gazing at him, she thought she saw a tender look gracing his features before his facial expression hardened.
"You will never love anyone more than me. You will be always in love with me. I'm your everything. There's no one who can replace me." He threw back the words at her she once had confessed to him.
Fury was possessing her, with no restraint she slapped him across his face.
"You jerk use the words I told you to hurt me even more? I despise you. Leave me house now! Get out! Leave right now!" She screamed, pushing him towards the exit. No longer could she look into his blue orbs, they made her week in the time she needed to be strong.
Elena's efforts to make him leave the house failed when he grabbed her arms, pressing them against the wall, giving her no space to release herself from his grip.
Narrowing his eyes, he threatened, "You won't get rid off of me so easily. I will be always a part of you. Not to mention... You're mine." He said the last words dangerously low in her ear, leaving Elena breathless for a moment until she struggled to free herself. Damon didn't make it any easier by pressing her cheeks together.
"Stop it, Damon. Leave me alone!" Elena shrieked, constantly shaking her head and pushing his chest.
Finally, the dark haired man seemed to notice her plea and obeyed, letting go of her and backing away slightly.
She breathed heavily for a few moments before she collected herself. "Leave! Get out! Go or I will call the police!"
At once Damon laughed bitterly. "The police? No need, baby. I will go, but don't worry it's not forever." He drew closer to her, raising his hand, and one moment Elena thought he would hit her, but instead he began to stroke her cheek tenderly.
"I will come back to you."
Just one moment, she let herself relish one memory they shared back in High School, when she was in a unstable position after her parent's death.
It was a sweet memory. They were sitting on top of Damon's car, with him holding her hand and whispering those words to her.
Now she was realizing, he was using their moments to what? Hurt her! Yes, it was intentionally.
"No, you won't anymore." She murmured, shoving his hand away and spilling a few more tears. It wasn't what she had said back then. There she had thanked him and hoped he would keep his promise.
He grumbled. "That's what you think, Elena."
"You won't. I won't let you. It's the end of you and me. This is goodbye, Damon. Goodbye, Damon." She swallowed thickly, trying to avoid directly into his ocean blue eyes.
He turned around, coming closer to the door and opening it. "Goodbye, cupcake...for now."
Elena silenced and once he left, she shut the door behind him. Then she fell on the ground, leaning against the door while crying softly. She couldn't believe she broke up with Damon; her one love. It had been always him, but that changed. He wasn't her love, her everything anymore.
There was an emptiness in her heart, she felt, due to the loss of him. Additionally, she felt she lost her youth as she had spent it with him.
But now she was wondering, how she was she supposed to continue living? How could you leave without a heart? You couldn't, but you could at least try, right?
Eventually, Elena got up to call Caroline, her best friend since she could think of. Unlike Bonnie, she was faithful, always there for her when she needed someone to comfort her.
She shakily dialed the number and held it on her ear. After a little while, Caroline picked up the phone, in the background clearly kids' voices were to hear. Elena smiled slightly at the recognition of Caroline's two little kids.
"Hello, Lena. How are you?"
"Caroline...I need you," she whispered, sniffing lightly.
The blonde knew that code well, she didn't question her friend further.
"Alright, I'm on my way."
"What about the kids?"
"Don't worry about them. Nik will take care of Anna and Lucas."
"Okay. Thank you, Care."
"Always."
After saying goodbye, Elena hung up the phone and moved to the living room to sit on the couch while waiting for her best friend.
She couldn't help, but think of Damon even though it brought her tears. She loved him so much, but he used her; abused her love. No matter what, she would never forget him, she thought. There were too many memories to forget. Besides memories are important.
AN: Did someone notice the Stelena quote at the end? ? I did ^^ I hope you enjoyed this. I enjoyed writing it :) I know Elena is still clinging onto Damon, but that might change when a certain Salvatore steps in. What will happen now? Tell me what you think of it!
Until then. I love you all ❤
