She takes a breath and rests her hand on her holster. She steps through puddles keeping her eyes trained on the figure coming into view. It was someone over someone else.
"Hey! Police, don't move."
She drew point on the perp but too late. A heavy trash can collided against her, sending her body into the bricks and dirt. She slid down the wall to the ground as her world spun. She could hear pounding footsteps slapping against the damp alley. She looked to where the man was. She tried to stand, stumbling back to her knees; committing to a half crawl to the victim, sloshing through puddles Olivia closed the few yards between them. The woman looked up through scared and pained eyes. Blood soaked the front of her blouse. She was gasping out short words.
Olivia grabbed her hand. "My name is Olivia; hold on help will be here soon. SVU portable to base; we need a bus." Olivia looked into the woman's eyes "Tell Mom I'm sorry. I love them. I'm sorry." The wounded female convulsed then stilled.
Olivia shook her arms and leaned in to check her breath, "hey, come on." The woman's head rolled as Olivia shook her lifeless body. She kept hold to the cooling hand for another few moments before another officer came around the corner. "Detective Benson, are you okay?" He held out his hand to help her from the ground. The injured detective laid the young lady's hand on her side then was pulled to her own feet. She began to walk out of the alley past the CSU boys and girls to catalog all the evidence of the girl that just died. Their brown eyes connected and she felt the victim going, even when she wanted that girl to hang on.
"Liv!" she heard her name but couldn't recognize who was calling it.
Olivia looked down another alley opening. Another figure in the shadow she turned and took off; the dizzying feeling being replaced with a stinging rage, her unsteady feet landing aggressively on the wet cement toward the figure, Liv torpedoed down the way toward what could cause her more damage. Another voice, this one familiar, called out to her. She pushed on following the form around the bend of the alley. Liv was breathing with anger on every exhale, body pushing to the limit to take out this murderer. But again he dropped her as she closed in on his heels. There was something connecting with her head, a fist. Her face met the dirt and she lay there hurt and almost alone.
