I don't know how to address Medic after this so I'll stick to the name 'Medic'. And notes to the last chapter: I didn't type in the accent on Medic's sentences because he's speaking German throughout the backstory.
Sydders2303: Well, I didn't happen to have thought about Medic's backstory on my first draft. And this story should've ended when Zelda had found out about Medic. And schadenfreude literally means 'having pleasure watching somebody suffering'.
Enjoy!
I spent the week doing all sorts of things with Medic. Finally, the other mercenaries returned. We had a dinner party, welcoming them back. Then, we went outside to have fun. The older mercenaries went to the local pub, while Scout and I have nothing to do. Pyro had set fire at trees solely for amusement. We left Pyro alone and decided to get Scout's favourite fried chicken.
We got there by his Vespa. I never knew he could manoeuvre a scooter. After buying a bucket of fried chicken, we headed back to the base, so no one would suspect we'd snuck out as the others had kept repeating to us that we should not sneak out.
We sat under a tree outside of the base near a cliff, and started to eat the fried chicken. It was pretty delicious.
"Say, I never knew that you can ride a scooter," I began.
"I'd learnt it back 'wit 'ma bros," Scout looked proud. "Even Heavy's ridden my bike before."
"That's interesting," I said as I was chewing the chicken. "How's your reunion with your family?"
"Oh, 'twas great back there. And everyone's back at home too," he replied.
"I imagine that your mother was happy, then," I smiled.
"Yea, of course she was," Scout chewed vigorously. "And her cooking's superb. You should try it sometime,"
"Yeah, that'll be great." I replied.
We chatted a lot, telling each other secrets we have never told anybody before. Sometimes, we turned to weird things, and went back to the general subject. Until I asked him something that we have both experienced before. We'd finished the chicken by then.
"Scout, do you ever think about your father?"
"My Dad…" He trailed off. "You know what, I never even met him, and when I asked Ma 'bout it, she always changes the subject. I'd try asking my bros, and they always said that he was an ass towards Ma." He explained.
"Same here," I fist bumped him. "But guess what?"
"What?"
"I finally met him when you guys were gone!" I revealed.
"What… For real? Unbelievable," Scout was happy for me. "Wait. Gimme a sec. you never even told me your nationality!"
"I could tell you, but you should just guess." I dragged on.
"Hmmm… Based on your blonde hair and blue eyes, I'll bet you're European." He guessed.
"You got it right! But Europe is vast. Countries like Sweden, Germany, Norway, Italy, France, Poland, Denmark and Czech Republic are in it," I scoffed.
"Stop pulling my leg! C'mon, just tell me already," Scout was already impatient.
"I'm not! Anyways, I'll just give you a hint on who my Dad is. Maybe that helps," I said. "Well… he has black hair, and blue eyes." I hinted.
"No way! Don't tell me that jackass is your Dad! You're so different from him." Scout argued.
"Wait, who are you thinking about?" I said, slightly offended.
"That backstabbing scumbag," Scout said. "Spy," as he heaved a sigh.
"What? Nope! You're wrong!" I laughed it off.
"That's great! Now let's see… I've got it! It's Sniper?" Man, Scout was completely clueless.
"Well, Australia isn't Europe." I smirked.
"THEN WHO IS IT!?" Scout snapped. "Oho! I've finally gotten it!" I waited for his answer.
"It's the person who always runs disgusting experiments at us and stuff," Scout explained. "Which is none other than… Doc!"
"You finally got it right, after all," I commented.
"Great, there's another German in our team now." Scout mumbled.
"Yeah… Better not let Soldier find out." I replied.
"Right. He's gonna go ballistic." He agreed.
I somehow see Dominik fluttering at our direction. "Hey, what's up, Dom?" I greeted. Scout suddenly looked unnerved. "Don't worry, Scout. Dominik won't hurt you. And Dominik, this is Scout." I soothed. "Here, try to touch his feathers,"
He let an unsure hand and touched Dominik's white feathers. "Wow, it's so soft," Scout said. Dominik hooted in reply.
Suddenly, I see lamplights coming our way. "Hey, they're back. Better get back as soon as possible or they'll catch us." I said. "Hey, little guy. Why don't you just fly back with us? Meet you in my room," I addressed the owl.
We sprinted back to the base and into our room. I pretended to sleep as Medic opened the door, and walked in. It was pretty difficult to maintain a stable breathing as I ran too fast. From what I heard, everyone outside was slurring in their speech.
"Thaaaat wasssss funnnnnn…" a faint voice which I think belonged to Soldier said.
"Ayyyyyyyeeeee…" Demoman agreed.
From the footsteps I heard in the room, I think Medic wasn't drunk. He doesn't allow himself to be drunk. For health reasons, I guess. Dominik was pecking the window. I peeked at Dominik as Medic went to answer it.
"Sie ist eingeschlafen," he whispered. "Bis morgen," He then closed the window as Dominik flew away.
"Sind Sie wirklich schlafen, mein liebling?" Medic turned to me. "Gute Nacht." He said as my face turned into a smile.
Scout can ride a Vespa taking Heavy, as seen in the Team Fortress comic, Blood in the Water. And I'm sorry, I can't really fit all the countries in Europe in this chapter.
Yeah, I really like to try writing German because I'm learning it. It's an awesome language, though. :D
Translations

Bis morgen – Until tomorrow (See you tomorrow)
