Hey! Sorry for not updating any sooner. And... I'm not dead. A lot has happened last month and yeah, the story hasn't ended yet! I'm too lazy to type this to my computer, and hitherto the updates are very late. Whenever I wanted to write this, I forgot all the ideas I had, LMAO. Anyway, enjoy!
I was roused when Soldier was yelling about some emergency meeting. I got dressed and went to the meeting room, without a bite of breakfast. What is so important anyway? Most of the team had already gathered in the meeting room, either grumbling or baffled.
"ALRIGHT MAGGOTS, SPY'S GOT SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON HIS HANDS, SO MAKE SURE HE'S GOT YOUR FULL ATTENTION, AM I CLEAR?" Soldier barked. Everyone nodded lazily.
"Well, gentlemen, I am sure you have been aware that our teams are unbalanced due to the addition of Mademoiselle Zelda, is it not?" Spy began. Something felt off.
"Isn't it a good thing, fancy pants?" Scout retorted.
"Indeed it is a good head start, but the REDs are trying to combat the issue by trying to recruit a new member." Spy replied indifferently.
"But of course!" Medic mused. "Recently, they have successfully recruited a member. My sources say that the new mercenary is a female." Spy continued. 'My sources', I thought sarcastically.
"How does she look like?" I asked. "She has a pale face, has long curly locks of blonde hair and alluring sapphire eyes like yours, my lady." He replied. "So you've seen her, then?" I tried to keep my composure, feeling slightly disgusted. I heard Scout cursing Spy blatantly.
"Unfortunately, the answer is no." he answered. "First time I'd heard you not peeking on them," Scout said. "Calm down, mate," Sniper said, patting him on the back. "Anyways, vhat is she skilled in, Herr Spy?" Medic asked.
"She has the potential to be a healer, and is also skilled in combat." The latter replied. "That means… They will have more Ubercharge?" Engineer piped up.
"Perhaps so, and she would be battling starting tomorrow. She's going to prepare herself today." Spy said. Everyone began to leave the room after the discussion.
"How do you fare, mein liebling?" Medic asked as we were the only ones left in the meeting room.
"… I just don't know how to feel… What if she's Mom? I'm sure it's Mom, somehow," I had mixed feelings.
"Now then, remember zhat you only have one mother. She could be anyone else, would it not?" he replied.
"Umm… She has sapphire eyes like mine and long blond hair! Spy said that himself! Mom also has these features," I snapped suddenly. This startled the doctor. "Oh, um, I'm sorry, just gotten too excited."
"Just focus on zhe battle today. You have plenty of time to zhink about zhat, perhaps after zhe day?" he said firmly.
"I EXPECT YOU TO BE IN THE SPAWN ROOM RIGHT NOW, MAGGOTS! LATE. WILL. NOT. BE. TOLERATED!" Soldier's husky voice reverberated through the halls.
We began to run towards the spawn room. Soldier can be very harsh, sometimes. The hall isn't too far away from the spawn room anyways. A couple of seconds later, we arrived at a sliding door that leads us to the spawn room. At the same time, The Administrator's voice rasped through the loudspeaker. "MISSION BEGINS IN ONE MINUTE!" "Heed me, Zelda. Don't think too much. Just focus on the battle, ja?" Medic said before heading to his locker to get his signature Medigun, modified to become Kritzkrieg, thanks to Engineer's help.
Some more seconds passed, and Scout said, "Hey, Zelda, wanna race and see who'll push the cart to the point first?" I was too absorbed into my thoughts that I did not notice him speaking.
"Zelda, you good, buddy? Just frickin' respond to me!" he became concerned as I took no notice. He then patted my shoulder.
"AH! Scout, who taught you to sneak behind people like that? Has the battle started or what? " I demanded.
"MISSION BEGINS IN THIRTY SECONDS!" The Administrator said again.
"Hey, it was you who didn't respond to me in the first place! Why blame me? Anyways, you any good to battle?" he retaliated.
"Yeah, yeah, I am. I was just… thinking, alright?" I replied.
"Thinking 'bout what? Is it my incredibly sexy face and my abs?" Scout jokingly implied.
"Nope, you don't even meet these requirements," I replied.
"MISSION BEGINS IN TEN SECONDS!"
"WHAT!? I got girls givin' me their number every time I walk down the street!" Scout complained.
"FIVE!" "Really? I don't think so," I challenged. "FOUR!"
"Then I want you to believe me-" "THREE!" "- if I'm the first one to get the cart to the end!"
"TWO!" "Fine, whatever you say."
Everyone began to scream their battle cry. And so, the battle begins. I was killed several times before I even reached the cart. The horrible feeling of being blasted into bits had begun to get under my skin. Even so, I was still distraught by the thoughts swirling in my mind. I kept running towards the cart without even caring about my surroundings. Suddenly someone shouted my name.
"Zelda Kauffmann!"
I looked around. The blasted RED Medic somehow knew my name. I pulled out The Ambassador and pointed it towards him. Only then I realized that we're alone. He was still holding his Medigun, with no signs of hostility. And with no Heavy in front of him.
"What do you want and speak now!" I yelled. I could've shot him in this range. "Vell… I vas vondering if you could see me after battle." He said, trying to keep calm. For some unknown reason, he's the spitting image of my father, the BLU Medic.
"For whatever reason?" I demanded.
"Some important matters I must tell you, but not now." He replied. If someone saw us here, we would be treated as traitors.
"How am I sure that you will not do anything to me?" I asked.
"I swear on top of my name." he said again.
"Fine. Where and when?"
"I vill send Archimedes the note containing the place and time later," he answered. Funny. His dove is also called Archimedes.
Suddenly, I heard gunshots and the RED Medic dropped to the ground, dead. At the same time, I was shot by a shotgun. When I'd respawned, we won stalemate.
"We lose, but they do not win?" Heavy asked.
"Yeah, I guess…"I answered.
"Zel, where the hell were ya?" Scout asked, fuming.
"I was… umm… Dying again and again." I said.
"You'd really want me to believe you then?" he challenged. "Yes." I said indefinitely.
"I'm sure you have problems goin' on, should I get Doc?" "Nope, not at all, just need some time alone, alright?" I replied. He ran off after I said that.
I sighed as I walked towards my room. I lied down on the bed and read a book. A few minutes later, I was interrupted by pecking sounds on the window. "Now who dares to disturb me of my reading?" I complained and looked at the window. A blood covered dove, contrary to our Archimedes, who's snow white, was holding a note between its beak, perching at the windowsill.
"Archimedes, are you?" I said as I took the note and offered it some bird seed. It cooed happily, accepting the bird seeds. I opened the note.
Zelda, can you meet me at the training grounds after dinner?
I would like to get to know you more.
Sincerely, RED Medic
P.S. I will be unarmed.
"Can you wait a second for me to write a reply, Archimedes?" I asked. I cooed as though it understood what I said.
Sure. I'll look forward on meeting you there.
Should you break your promise, know the consequences.
Z. Kauffmann
"Here, thank you for helping me deliver it!" I gave Archimedes the note. It took off after taking the note in between its beak. Suddenly, it came back frantically. "What seems to be the matter?" I said as looked out of the window.
I petted it so it would calm down. I saw Dominik flying towards us. Archimedes began to panic. "There, there. Dominik won't hurt you." I said, trying to calm Archimedes. Dominik hooted happily as he saw me. "And Dominik, don't hurt Archimedes, all right?" I added as I let Archimedes go.
"Well, what is up, my friend?" I asked.
Hope you enjoyed it! I don't know when the next one will come out, anyways. And… it's not gonna end anytime soon. ._. By the way, special thanks to all of you for taking the time to review and read my fanfic, I really appreciate it! Stay tuned for the next chapter.
