A few moments later, we finally neared the base. "Right," said Sniper, "whatever should we do?"

"Well, just say that we found him lying around the training grounds, I think?" I suggested. "Or calling Fath- I mean Medic without being spotted by the others."

"I think we save time without getting spotted by the numbskulls, 'Specially Soldier. You don't want him bashing your ears and arms in the evenings." Sniper answered.

"Around this time, he'll be at the Medibay, doing paperwork." I recalled. "Oh, how very hardworking," Sniper said, sarcasm strong in his tone. "Yeah, if you people who can read and write would lend a hand!" I answered. This shut him up.

As I finished my sentence, we were approaching the base. How to rouse Father is a problem. I glanced at the Medibay's windows. As if clockwork, I hear hooting above us. Dominik was flying towards us alongside a grey owl. "Hello, Dominik. I see you have made a new friend," I greeted. "How's it going, Sir Hootsalot?" Sniper said at the same time. We stared at each other, face filled with amusement. "That owl is yours, lass?" he asked. "Well, yeah," I answered, stroking Dominik's feathers.

"Anyway, let's focus on the important matters on our hands." I said. "So, Dominik, and Sir Hootsalot, of course, can you help us out a little? Rouse Medic." They hooted happily in response. Then, they began to peck at the windows until I hear a string of colourful German words. Well, lucky that Sniper doesn't understand, huh?

I thanked the owls, and they set off. An agitated Medic opened the window. "Look mate, we need some help," said Sniper quickly, to prevent unwanted trouble. Medic finally noticed us, with a pale Nikolaus on Sniper's shoulders. "Why vould you dummkopfs bring somebody form zhe RED here!?" he asked, as if we are trying his patience.

"Because he is injured, and we can't bear to leave him like that!" I protested. "And what's more, you're a doctor, and you ought to heal anyone, regardless of status,"

"Come on, he's gonna bleed himself dry at this rate!" I see that the wound is already infected, still bleeding and slightly dislocated. "Lass is right, mate," Sniper backed me up.

He skimmed over Nikolaus's shoulder blade, and said "Fine, but you must promise me to help clean up zhe papers here." Well, that was easy. Guess I can easily make people crack. "No problem." Sniper and I answered in unison. We moved Nikolaus through the window and proceeded to enter the base by the front door.

"Remember, lass, you owe me a favour," Sniper began. "What, why?" I was baffled. "Why the RED scum is your brother!" he snapped at my forgetfulness. "Don't disrespect the like that! Yeah, I will tell you, sooner or later. Promise," I replied.

As we walked into the base, most people are enjoying their idle hours in the rec room playing cards, watching the local sports channel, or playing with fire. The only ones not there are Engineer, who's always down at the workshop tinkering away and Spy, who likes to keep everything to himself in the smoking room. Of course, Medic is in the Medibay, as mentioned earlier.

Demoman noticed us and said, " Ayy, lass, Snipah! What happened to you arm? Covered in blood, ain't it? Like when I blowed me arm off." I looked over to Sniper, and yes, his clothes were stained in Nikolaus's blood. "Nothing much, Demo. I'm good." Sniper answered as we hurried towards our destination. "Catch you later, Demo!" I said.

We opened the door to Medic's office, and I let out a little gasp, amused and confused. "Well that is amazing," Sniper commented. Paper was strewn across the room, and broken glass, too. "Did wind sweep through here?" I remarked. No time for jokes! I mentally slapped myself.

We picked the glass from the mix of paper first. It looked like a lot of flasks and test tubes were shattered. After that, we gathered the rest of the paper. I can see that it's some scrapped ideas of a crossbow. Should just keep some and let Engie take a look, since Father wants to throw it away, anyways. And so, I slipped some of them into my pocket. Minutes later, we were finished. I told Sniper about my ties with the two Medics as we cleaned up.

"Well, that's some story you've got, lass." Sniper commented. "So the new member could be your old woman?"

"According to Nikolaus, yes." I answered. "Better spend more time with them, they don't last that long, you know. Like my oldies…" he trailed off. "Yeah, Snipes. I'm sorry for yours."

"Gotta go check my rifles, G'night." Sniper said, his tone somewhat sad. "'Night," I replied. I went to check on the other two. "How is he doing, Father?" I asked. "Zhe injury tore through his arm, and it vill take a long time to recover." The latter answered.

"Did he tell you?" he continued. "Yeah, he's my brother." I said. "And do you acknowledge him as one?"

"Of course I do!" I answered matter-of-factly. "Zhat is gut." "Why would Mom not know, though?"

"Because she assumed Niko to be dead at zhe time." Medic answered. "So to not make Mom go paranoid because she will think that someone used sorcery to bring him back from the dead, you sent him to a close friend of yours to be taken care of." I gave a detailed explanation.

"Ja, zhat is true. How did you realize zhat Niko is related?"

"Just now, he wanted to see me. And then he got bitten by a cougar." I remembered.

"So zhat is vhy I see some teeth fragments on zhe wound."

"So what to do on the next battle? Wouldn't the REDs know that their Medic is gone?"

"I think zhey vill use zhe new member, as Spy said she can heal. Niko should rest."

"So the only thing to do is to wait for tomorrow."

"Ja, and ve vill meet zhe new member."
