This is a BBC Homeland report
It is the third day of the Winter Wonderland Festival, and the celebration is already quite exciting. Prince Faramond and Lady Langley made an appearance at the Neo-Pendragon Tamale Festival. They were judges in the tamale competition. They both participated in the eating contest that caps the competition. Unfortunately they could not keep up with the more seasoned professionals that participated.
Former Knights of the Round Dorothea Ernst Urabe, Salacia Ravenguard Apslund, Aprodite Bradley, and Luciano Bradley were part of the festivities at Milly World. They participated in the daily parade. They were also invited to take part in the Pirates of the Gulf of Britannia show. Needless to say things got a little exciting for the audience.
The Empress will be part of the panel that selects Mr. and Miss Wonderland tonight. There may be more celebrity judges. The Emperor and the Knights of the Round are expected to be part of the celebration on New Year's Day, which will wrap up the Winter Wonderland Festival. For more information visit the Winter Wonderland website at and of course Empress Milly's personal website .
There will be plenty of opportunities to meet all your favorite celebrities. Don't forget to post pictures and videos from your experiences at the Festival at the official pages on Britbook, Britspace, Tweeper, Instapound, and Branch. You may even get a retweep or a like from Empress Milly.
You will also be entered into the drawing sponsored by Castor and Pollux vi Britannia. Prizes include a speaking role in the next Converters movie, 5 nights and 4 days at the Milly World resort, your own personalized VTOL from Gemini Vehicles, a week with your choice of War Games team, or tickets to the War Game Championship and fan experience. Information and rules on the drawing are available at the Winter Wonderland website and at the official pages on all social media sites.
There has even been talk of the Emperor and Orange Technologies sponsoring a contest. So keep checking the sites for updates.

Krasnoyarsk, Siberia
William Tecumseh Sherman II has been sitting around for two days looking at reports of troop movements. There is no word yet on what is going on down in Australia. He moves to the furthest forward Britannian position. The exact border is undetermined. Russia refuses to accept anything other than complete Britannian withdraw. The Emperor refuses to even budge an inch. It is one of the few of his conquests that he refuses to give up. This means that there are constant minor skirmishes along the unofficial border.
He feels slight sympathy for poor Russian bastards who have to patrol the area. Drone images show that the Russian knightmares that come up to the border are manned. Britannia has always sent drone knightmares to patrol the area. Britannia has a method to make a few hundred drones seem like thousands. They rotate parts amongst the knightmares and a few spares. With the heavy snow it is difficult to notice what is happening.
Sherman is looking down as the technicians begin making the changes for tomorrow's patrols. As he makes notes of the color combinations, Evelyn vi Britannia walks towards him accompanied only by Jinta. Sherman wonders if there are more guards behind the door or perhaps they have been here all day so as not to attract attention. Evelyn is quite unassuming for a member of the Royal Family. One could almost imagine her being a high school student. That is until you look into her eyes. Sherman cannot imagine that the Emperor would leave his little sister untrained.
Before Sherman can salute, Evelyn waves him off.
"Lieutenant Sherman, I see you are viewing the mix-up. It was Jinta who thought of the color coding. Before that it was difficult remembering what we were sending out. Everyone just assumed that the Russians would be too stupid to notice that we were sending out the same drones."
Sherman nods towards his fellow former cadet.
"You may have heard that there was some trouble brewing down near Australia," Evelyn glances at Jinta as she says this. "The truth is that war began there the moment you arrived here."
Sherman hopes that this means he will be transferred to the active front.
Evelyn continues, "Several of our more experienced will be transferred there to finish the task and provide garrison troops. We will have to do with fresh recruits. However," Evelyn pauses and glares at Sherman, "YOU will not be sent anywhere. Unfortunately your insistence on coming here despite the orders of your superiors has angered many in the military hierarchy. Despite my best efforts including a personal appeal to the Emperor, you are to remain here until you are recalled to teaching assistant duties at West Point. That is if they decide that they need your talents for that task. Please assist the new arrivals."
Evelyn stands there for a few moments to see if Sherman has anything to say. Since he does not reply, she leaves the room. Jinta twists his mouth and shrugs his shoulders following after her. He can tell by their body language that he may be here for a while.
Sherman balls up his fist and slams it down on the balcony. Jinta and Longstreet both caught lucky breaks at being related to important people. Sherman thought he was trying to get ahead by asking to be transferred to Siberia. He attempts to convince his colleagues to come with him, but obviously they receive word that Australia will be the main event. Sherman receives no warning most likely due to the fact that he is a commoner. Even the untrained junior cadets are probably in Australia.
Sherman decides to head back to his quarters. He will have to find a way to get some action going here.
Sherman is about to does off when his communicator rings. He contemplates not answering it since it is most likely Jinta asking about the night shifts. It is just an excuse to talk to Sherman. Probably to reassure him that Evelyn tried her best to get him transferred. He slowly grabs it hoping that Jinta will hang up.
"Sherman here."
"Ah Lieutenant Sherwin, you are James's friend."
Sherman looks down at his communicator and sees that there is no video.
"Who is this?" as he asks he recognizes the voice, "It's you, the traitor."
"Traitor, that is such an ugly word. I prefer to think of myself as evening the odds," Lilicia states, "Besides what makes you think you are on the right side."
"I serve the rightful Emperor of Britannia!" Sherman exclaims.
"That is what you think," Lilicia comments, "Well enough chit chat. I know Britannia has very little real defenses in the region."
Sherman smiles slightly. "Why don't you try testing them out?"
Lilicia lets out a laugh. "Don't be silly. It is impossible to get Russians to do anything. Besides you have other things to worry about."
After the line goes dead, Sherman stares at his communicator for a few moments. There is no chance of tracing the call without provoking suspicion. He decides to head for the gym to get a late night workout.
Perth, Australia
Kallen decides to send Oldrin and the Glinda Knights forward while she stays back in Perth. Below the city looks like a scene from some dystopian or apocalyptic novel. Britannian forces quickly defeat the few Australian troops in the area. After this civilians decide to attack Britannian soldiers with any available weapons. To keep Britannian troops from establishing a foothold on the ground, the Australians begin setting fire to every large building. This only causes a harsher reaction from Britannian forces.
Apart from Kallen, Marika, and Liliana, every soldier has been assigned by Lelouch to deal with the situation here. Meaning he trusts each of them to react as he would react.
"Your Highness, we have been unable to control the fires," Marika states, "Perhaps we should assign an airship to obtain water to extinguish the fires."
"No, we did not cause any of the fires," Kallen comments, "Perhaps it is time that we move forward and join the others. Wiggins and Carter can handle things here. They have official orders from the Emperor. Besides by staying here, we are upsetting Lelouch's plan."
Calling the Emperor by his name is a way of letting others know that Kallen understands her husband's methods and line of thinking.
"As you wish, Your Highness. I will make preparations for our departure."
Kallen is in a precarious situation. Despite being in command of the western half of the operation, she does not want to step on anyone's toes. Both Lelouch's people and the Glinda Knights are accustomed to independent command. Having Kallen command them for even a few days has been difficult
"Your Highness, your airships and knightmares are refueled and ready for departure."
"Thank you Marika. Now we just have to decide where to go."
Kallen brings an up to the moment map of Britannian units. Lelouch is in Canberra. Gino and Anya are in Sydney. Cornelia is in Brisbane. The Glinda Knights are on their way towards Adelaide. Naoto and others are attempting to escape Darwin. There are many units fighting in Papua New Guinea with Sora and Urabe on their way there. Kallen notices Jeremiah and Sayoko are approaching a small northern town named Alice Springs.
"Marika, bring up all the information you can on this place," Kallen says as she taps the screen.
"There seems to be a large military base there, probably research,"
Kallen looks at the images Marika brings up.
"Wait," Liliana says, "Go back a few images. I think those are EU knightmares and airships."
Marika brings up several images.
"I think you are right," Kallen comments, "What are EU troops doing here?"
"I believe they were training Australian troops and providing them with supplies," Marika replies.
"Then that is our target," Kallen states. "Inform Carter, Wiggins, and Oldrin of our destination. I will deal with the Emperor myself."
"As you wish, Your Highness," Marika and Liliana state.
Kallen sits on her throne and prepares to send Lelouch a message. If she pushes her airships, she may arrive at the same time of Jeremiah. Despite leaving during the night, Jeremiah has been traveling slowly to reach his destination during daytime. Whatever Australia and the EU are hiding will soon be discovered. Kallen just hopes that it is not some crazy secret weapon.
Australia Special Weapons Laboratory, Alice Springs
The past two days have been hectic for Salzaar and the EU troops. First the Australian General Staff arrives attempting to take control of the shipments, but Salzaar simply has his men imprison them. He refuses to hand over control of cargo until he knows what is there. The Australian president arrives at the base soon after that. Naturally he is followed by Britannian troops although they are far behind. Then things get complicated.
"Lord Gluten, you hold what may be the key to our victory over Britannia," the Australian president states.
"I do not see how anything other than immediate and unconditional surrender can save your people," Salzaar remarks.
"The people are beyond saving," the president says with a crazed look on his face, "Our goal has always been to destroy Britannia. With these weapons it is possible."
Salzaar forces his way down to where the EU scientists are setting up the weapons brought in. They appear to be large missiles. Each one is labeled FLEIA and has what Salzaar assumes is the production number. He wonders how many are here and how many are at the missile silos
"These missiles are…" Salzaar trails off as he realizes exactly what the missiles and the implications behind their presence here.
The president walks to the nearest missile. "With these our victory shall be complete."
"What are you talking about?" Salzaar asks incredulously. "These will destroy your people if you use them in Britannian troops."
"A small sacrifice for the greater good."
Salzaar can sense the apprehension in the faces of the Australian soldiers. If he can get a few of them on his side, then he should be diffuse the situation and escape with his deadly cargo.
"These missiles will eliminate the Britannian emperor and his horde," a young Japanese captain with the W-0 asks (Akito Hyuga).
"Yes, my dear boy," the Australian president says as he walks towards Akito and places his arm around him. "These weapons will open the way for a new world."
More than anything this act convinces Salzaar and the Australian soldiers that something is wrong with the president. The president has a very anti-Asian policy. Salzaar decides to make his move, but he is betrayed by the EU contingent.
"Do not try anything rash, Lord Gluten," Maurice Marcel says, "We do not want these bombs to go off prematurely."
The other W-0 members are moving towards the missiles. Salzaar curses himself for not bringing his personal team with him.
"Most of you have probably never seen what this weapons can do. They can erase entire cities from the world. I have seen it with my own eyes. If you allow this evil to be unleashed you may do away with some Britannian troops, but you will also murder millions of your own innocent citizens."
"Shut up!" Ryo Sayama says as he moves towards Salzaar.
A single shot is heard as an Australian soldier shoots at attacking EU-Japanese soldier.
Salzaar quickly leaps towards the president knowing that he will have the codes necessary to launch the missiles. Salzaar's move is aided by the fact that the electricity is shut off.
""We are under attack! Britannian soldiers have infiltrated the base!"
Salzaar knows that this is just a quick strike team sent by Lelouch to investigate the situation. Most likely the Britannian emperor is intrigued by the oddly shaped wooden boxes that the EU is bringing to Australia. Salzaar knows of a particularly effective strike team led by a Japanese woman that would be ideal for this type of mission.
"Get the missiles ready for launch! The secondary generators will be up soon," Maurice Marcel yells. "Get the knightmares up to protect this lab and the silos."
Salzaar curses himself for not being better prepared or this situation. He has delivered weapons to many different places throughout the world for several years now. He never suspects that Schniezel would be insane enough to give such weapons to an apparent mad man.
The secondary generators soon activate. Salzaar hopes that the Australian troops would put up more of a fight, however they are inexperienced and the situation is too much for them. A few of them manage to get away and continue to fight.
"Activate the blaze luminous around the control center," Maurice Marcel orders, "How soon before the missiles are ready?"
"As soon as the silos are clear, we can launch. We could launch even if the silos are occupied, but there is danger of the missiles activating prematurely."
"Very well," Maurice Marcel says as he sits. "Hyuga, have someone search for Lord Gluten. He may try to upset the missile launch. Let's get the missiles in the command center out to the silos."
Salzaar hides in a corner. He leaves the Australian president on the floor. Maurice knows him quite well. He knows that Salzaar will not attack until the last moment.
Sayoko makes her way through the Australian base. As she arrives, there is much confusion on the ground. The EU troops seem to turn on each other. Most attention is around a particular building. From the satellite images, she knows that the special cargo is taken there. If what the emperor fears is in those boxes is in those boxes, then Sayoko must hurry. There is the threat that one of the missiles can activate prematurely. This would not only eliminate the base, but Sayoko and her team.
Their first move is to place explosives throughout the base. Then they shut off the electricity to cause confusion. Explosions throughout the base aid to the chaos. The secondary generators turn on leading Sayoko exactly to her destination. There is some order now as a faction of the EU troops takes control of the situation. That will not matter once Jeremiah is in place. He has enough troops to sweep through what the EU has here. None of that will matter if Sayoko cannot reach the control center.
"Lady Gottwald, we have infiltrated the control center. The EU troops are pushing out the Australians."
This confirms to Sayoko what is going on here. Someone must have informed the Australians of the destruction that these weapons can cause. Naturally the EU soldiers would not care if a few million Australians died taking out a major portion of the Britannian army.
Sayoko shakes her head as several knightmares guard this building. It is the only building so heavily guarded. A more experienced commander would attempt to make the building less conspicuous. Sayoko and her team sneak in through several air vents. The control center is most likely below to protect it from air strikes. If she knew she had time she would rather search for secondary generators or the silos. Disrupting the missile launches might be easier from there. Now they will head for the control center and hope to catch the enemy by surprise.
"Have C squad go down and look for the secondary generators. Everyone else will head for the control center," Sayoko orders.
As they move through the building they encounter fighting between EU and Australian soldiers. Since they are crawling through the duct systems, stray bullets are a real danger.
Sayoko makes her way to the entrance of the control room. She has to break a few skulls along the way. Most of her team is engaged in fighting EU and Australian soldiers. Sayoko quickly scans the room. She notices that control center at the other end of the room guarded by a blaze luminous system.
Sayoko activates her power suit to full power. She runs straight at the control center. The remaining guards are too stunned to react to her. Sayoko leaps through the air and balls up as she hits the shield. It is not the first time Sayoko has done this so she is able to land safely with one knee on the ground. Behind her, EU soldiers are trying to run through the hole she makes in the shield, but it is quickly repairing itself.
Sayoko finds a gun pointed at her head.
"You must be Sayoko Shinozaki," Maurice Marcel states. "Pleasure to meet you."
Salzaar decides that this is the right time to make his move. He rushes towards Maurice, but is stopped by Akito Hyuga. However this distraction is the opening Sayoko needs. She quickly reaches up and knocks the gun away from Maurice.
Sayoko shoves Maurice back. As he falls back he grabs her leg and trips her. Sayoko kicks him away. Maurice stands up and tackles Sayoko to the ground. Since she is still wearing her power suit, it hurts him more than her.
Salzaar is pushing Akito back, but is suddenly attacked by Ryo Sayama.
"Looks like I am going to finish this Britannian scum off," Ryo Sayama states.
Salzaar backs up and looks at the really fucked up situation.
"That will be enough of that," one of the scientists says as he points an automatic rifle. "My orders are to dispose of anyone that get in the way of this mission."
Two other scientists who are equally equipped come to his side.
Loud laughing is heard by the controls. "Finally nothing can stop me!," the Australian president yells elatedly.
Everyone including the scientists turn to face him.
"Amateurs," Sayoko mumbles as she rushes the scientists. She is able to kick two of them down in one motion. The third scientists raises his gun, but is shot by Maurice Marcel.
"You had me fooled for a moment, you French bastard," Salzaar remarks.
"I couldn't be sure who was on their side. I was aiming on hitting the self-destruct button as soon as the missiles were a good distance away from the base. "
Akito Hyuga and Ryo Sayama stand there stunned. Outside the sounds of Jeremiah's attack echo throughout.
"Launch has been activated," the computer states.
The Australian president falls to the ground.
"Quick, cancellation button," Salzaar says he runs towards the controls.
Akito Hyuga leaps to stop him. Ryo Sayama attacks Maurice Marcel. Sayoko runs to the controls and hopes she can figure out how to stop the launch of the missiles. As Sayoko reaches the controls, the power turns off. She lets out a sigh of relief because this means that her team reached the secondary generators. Small emergency lights turn on.
"This is bad," one of the downed scientists says.
"What do you mean?" Salzaar asks.
"Each missile silo has its own power source. The main power sources only controlled the targeting system. With that down the missiles will still head in the general direction in which they were targeted, but they will most likely detonate in the air."
"Can't we just turn the power back on?" Maurice asks
"No, the missiles assume that the power went out because of an enemy attack and will not recognize the reboot."
"So we have to go to each silo?" Salzaar inquires, "How many are there?"
"Around a hundred."
"Are you people insane? You brought 100 of those damned things here," Maurice Marcel states.
"No, we only brought about fifty. The disruption of the targeting feed may also cause an immediate launch of all missiles."
Salzaar notices that Sayoko is gone. She is probably on her way to search for the silos. If she cannot reach the silos, she may decide to activate one of the missiles here.
As soon as Sayoko hears that each missile silo has its own power source, she activates her power suit. She does not know that number of silos at the base. As she moves up the corridor, she sees that fighting is still going on.
"Stop fighting and power up. We have to stop those damn things from launching."
Sayoko's team quickly follows her orders.
"Where do we have to go?"
"There are missile silos throughout the complex," Sayoko replies, "We have to reach them to stop the missiles from launching."
Salzaar looks around for something that can power the targeting control computer.
"They will not make it to the silos," the scientists states, "because they are not located here. Tunnels from here lead to the silos. They are several miles from here."
Salzaar looks at Maurice who shrugs. The only soldiers that ever come down with the scientists are those attached to them.
"Have someone turn the power back on. We can at least track those things from here," Salzaar comments, "We should probably get ready to leave. Now matter what happens with those missiles, whoever is left in Britannia is going to pound the shit out of this place."
Jeremiah is approaching his target. Hopefully Sayoko will be able to cause enough commotion.
"Lord Gottwald, our advance team has arrived. Indications are that there has been infighting between EU and Australian soldiers."
"Have the quick strike force evacuate as soon as possible."
"Already done, sire."
Jeremiah is contemplating heading down.
"We are tracking several projectiles launching north of the base. Should we fire upon them?
"How many missiles?" Jeremiah asks. He considers what to do next. If he fires on the missiles, they may explode here.
"Several dozen. Should we fire upon them?"
"No, track their trajectory and warn His Majesty."
"There seems to be something odd about these missiles. Their guidance's systems seem to inoperable."
"Can you get into them?" Jeremiah asks.
"No, the systems seem to be turned off. I cannot hack it if it is off. I would have to hack into each missile and we would have to be in range."
Jeremiah knows that he has only minutes to decide what to do.
"Get everybody off the base. I am going to wipe its existence off the face of the Earth."
"Good idea," Lelouch says as his face appears on the airship's monitors. "Indications are that the missiles are heading east towards Canberra and Sydney. We will hack or destroy the missiles from here."
Jeremiah knows that Lelouch has no fear so there must have been another reason for him not coming here personally.
"I am sending you new orders. Move away from the base and then give your troops some time to rest."
"Your Majesty, what are these missiles?"
"Just get your people away from there. Do not head in the trajectory of any of the missiles."
Jeremiah nods and begins to gather up his force. "It appears we arrived too late to deal with the situation. Send a message to all units near this base. We must move away from this base immediately on the orders of His Majesty."
Lelouch quickly realizes that he cannot simply hack into the FLEIA missiles. Unlike all knightmares which are based on the Ganymede and newer knightmares which are based on the Titan, FLEIA runs on a completely different program. He would need to have a dozen Ninas to complete the task. One Lelouch is not enough to accomplish half the task.
"Your Majesty, several missiles are approaching Canberra."
"I am dealing with them as fast as I can. Send some drones to take out a few missiles."
Lelouch was a bit arrogant to believe that he could although there is not many who could help with this task.
"Your highness, we are receiving messages to get away from this base and from all major cities," Marika states.
Kallen looks at her monitors. "What are these projectiles heading towards the coast?"
"I suppose they just be some sort of last ditch weapon."
"No, it's FLEIA. Fire our long distance missiles. Hopefully we can hit a few of them before they reach their destination."
"Orders from Lord Jeremiah are that we are to let the missiles go and move away from the base as quick as possible. He says the orders are from the Emperor."
Kallen raises her eyebrow. "Tell Lord Jeremiah to keep his pompous mouth closed. In fact I will tell him myself. Then contact that green haired witch. She said she was going to keep an eye on Lelouch. This does not appear like she is keeping one eye on him."
"As you wish your highness," Marika states, "I had forgotten how," slight pause, "assertive you are when dealing with the Emperor."
"Idiot deserves a good smack in the head."
"Several of the projectiles appear to stopped without incident. Lord Jeremiah is on the line, Your Highness."
"I suppose he isn't that big an idiot."
Jeremiah is half listening to Kallen yelling at him about Lelouch being an idiot. He is glad that he kept the communication private. Her crew is probably accustomed to her ranting about the Emperor, however his crew is not.
"Lord Jeremiah, I managed to hack into one of the missiles. What should I do with it?"
Normally Jeremiah dislikes disobeying Lelouch, however this time Jeremiah believes that Lelouch's hubris will be detrimental to everyone.
"Does it have enough fuel to travel for a while and return?"
"Yes, but if I take the time to reroute it, then I will not be able to get into others. Their operating system is quite unusual."
Jeremiah grimaces, "Do what you can. We will be moving away as quickly as we can." Kallen is still ranting about Lelouch. "I will speak with his Majesty as soon as we get away from here. As you probably know we have more important matters to attend to, Your Highness." Jeremiah looks down at his monitors. "Keep working at it. The more we take out here, the less reach the coast and Britannian forces."
Cornelia is sitting in her office looking over the day's reports when she hears several alarms going off.
"What is going on? Have the locals begun fighting back?" Cornelia asks.
"No, Commander. His Majesty has ordered on immediate evacuation from the city of all Britannian forces."
"Why? Is it just our force?"
"No, forces in Sydney are also being evacuated. We are tracking several dozen projectiles emanating from the center of the continent heading towards the east coast."
Cornelia ponders for a moment. "How much longer do we have to wait for our forces to board the airships?"
"Your airship is being evacuated immediately regardless of capacity."
"No, we will wait for everyone to come aboard."
"Unfortunately Commander, the orders come from the Emperor and the airship has begun to move on its own. We cannot override the controls. Lady Enngream will stay behind to observe the evacuation."
"Then prepare my knightmare. I will not leave until every soldier is safely aboard an airship."
"Every knightmare and transport aboard the airship has been remotely disabled. If you another transport sent to pick you up, it will be remotely disable as soon as it lands."
Cornelia scowls. Lelouch really thought this one out. Cornelia wonders what the projectiles are. They must be dangerous to scare Lelouch in this manner.
Salzaar immediately orders for his troops to evacuate the base. He has the power system reactivated hoping that he can disable the missiles.
"Looks like they managed to destroy a few of them," Maurice remarks.
"But there are a lot heading east. I wonder why Britannian forces didn't just blast them."
"The missiles were fully armed the moment the launched," one of the scientists comments, "Any disruption would cause an immediate explosion. They are probably waiting for the missiles to be a good distance from this base and Britannian forces," the scientist laughs, "It still won't do them any good. We programmed the missiles with an unusual operating system and anti-tracking devices. This makes them difficult to hack without causing explosion."
"What does it matter if they explode in the area between here and the east coast? There is nothing between here and there."
"The scientist laughs again. "I already told you that the missiles are located miles from here."
Salzaar looks at the tracking screen and sees new projectiles appearing closer to Sydney and Canberra.
"Let's get out of here. We have a long flight home," Salzaar comments.
"What about them?" Maurice asks pointing at the scientists.
Salzaar pulls out his personal sidearm. "Fuck them. They can stay here," Salzaar says as he shoots the scientists in the leg. "Get everyone else on board. We will deal with those that had a momentarily lapse of confusion later."
"What about the Australian troops?"
"Tell them to get away from here. One of those missiles looks like it is coming here."
"We should take the Australian president. He maybe valuable as a bargaining chip," Maurice suggests.
"Good idea."
Lelouch is furiously hacking away. He has been able to disable a dozen missiles. Several have been attacked by drones. Fortunately the explosions took place well away from any major cities. Lelouch feels like he may get away with this.
"Your majesty, several new projectiles are appearing near Sydney and Canberra."
"Where the hell did those come from?"
"They appear to have launched from nearby."
Lelouch does not have time to think of how the missiles got to there. He must contemplate a quick strategy to deal with them.
"Have all the airships exit the city and land. Once on the ground have them connect. Transfer all power to the shield. Fire everything we can at those missiles. Perhaps we can hit them before they reach the city. Let's hope the anti-EMP shield works."
Like everyone else in Canberra, Jane Archibald contemplates fighting back against the Britannians. She also waits for Australian forces to come to expel the invaders. Little does she know that there are no available Australian forces. When Britannian forces begin to evacuate, she joins in on the celebration in the street. There is word that the same is happening in Sydney.
'Look to the sky, there is something flying up there."
"No, look there's lots of them."
"It's the president returning with soldiers to drive the bloody Britannians out."
Everyone begins to cheer and sing. Jane keeps looking at the sky. Whatever is coming does not look like any airship or knightmare she has ever seen. In fact they look more like missiles.
"Jane, come on. They say the Britannian airships are landing outside the city and powering up their shields. Looks like they are cowering at the site of the incoming forces. We have some of those construction knightmares."
Jane goes along to see what will happen.
Lelouch is standing on the ground outside his airship as his airships fire upon the FLEIA missiles. At this distance the blaze luminous should be able to withstand the EMP, however the city will be greatly affected. He can see some commotion coming from the city towards his airships. He imagines that word of the other evacuations has reached the locals. They must assume that Britannia is fleeing. Several jeeps and floating construction knightmares are racing ahead. They are about to receive a nasty surprise.
The explosion high above makes it seem like the sun has entered the Earth's atmosphere. Lelouch is forced to turn away from a moment. The blast itself if too high up to do any damage, however the EMP that follows comes down upon the city. Within minutes all electrical systems within several miles range will shut down.
"Good thing I had those anti-EMP shield installed on the airships," Lelouch states.
Although not able to completely withstand a large pulse, the new shield is able to salvage most important systems in part thanks to the sakuradite core. Lelouch looks out and sees that the locals are within several dozen yards before they begin to malfunction. The sakuradite core in the construction knightmares helps keep them in the air for a few moments, but the EMP is too powerful and overwhelms them. For some reason the local idiots decided to move their knightmares as high as they could.
"Scooter, looks like those knightmares are going to crash into those jeeps."
…
"Scooter, I am tired of being the hero. Let someone else do it. We can't even get out of this blaze luminous."
….
"Yes, but if I power up my suit once I get outside it may be affected by the EMP."
….
"Of course I understand that I am super human, but even that may be too much for me."
Lelouch turns on his powersuit and jumps through the blaze luminous.
"Scooter, you are one crazy person," Lelouch says as he runs towards a jeep.
Jane Archibald looks up at the blast in the sky. She is forced to close her eyes because of the brightness. She feels a strange sensation sweep over her body. Suddenly the jeep she is in slows down and stops. She looks up and notices that the construction knightmares are beginning to wobble and are slowly descending towards the jeep.
"Get away from here!" a young dark haired man yells as he leaps onto the hood of the jump. His body is covered with a thin metal suit that is sputtering electrical sparks.
The young man jumps into the air straight at the falling knightmare. He slashes through the knightmare. He pushes off the falling pieces towards the next knightmare. He slashes through that one was well. He grabs a piece of the falling knightmare and flings it the next knightmare. He lands calmly on the ground and begins to walk back towards the Britannian airships. He appears to be talking to himself or more precisely to his sword. This does not take away from the effect that the stare from his amethyst eyes has. Jane cannot decide whether to be afraid or turned on.
Lelouch lands on the ground. He glances to the side to make sure that he did not slice through the pilots.
"See Scooter, I told you we could do it."
Lelouch begins walking towards his airship. He notices a girl in jeep staring at him.
"Bet you didn't expect to see that when you got out of bed this morning."
Author's note: Someone asked if everyone in my CG world was plain dickish. I suppose that is what happens when the writer is a bit cynical. However the world has been in near constant war for almost two decades. It will remain that way until Lelouch eliminates Karine and removes Schniezel from power. Neither was possible at the end of the Britannian Civil War because many in the world were tired of war. Lelouch had to rebuild the Britannian homeland to provide a base for further movement. He also had to reassure his subjects in Asia that they are important part of his empire.
You might ask yourself why they just didn't have FLEIA missiles in the major cities waiting for Britannian troops. Part of the answer is time.
