After spending what little spare time they had locked away in the locker room together they eventually ventured out to practise the in-ring segment of the evening with Dwayne. Arriving at ringside they took a seat on the edge of the ring and just waited for him to arrive.

Leaning back on the ropes Paul closed his eyes, "if I fall asleep then does that mean I'll wake up and the show will be over?"

Laughing she turned her head to look at him, "you're crazy if you think that will happen. If you fall asleep I'm going to have to wake you up so you can do your job and earn your pay."

Smirking a little he opened his eyes and wiggled his eyebrows, "oh trust me, I'll be more than happy to earn my pay but just in a different and more enjoyable way."

Smacking his chest before she moved away from him on the apron she looked disgusted, "you're a disgusting pig sometimes."

Before Paul could answer and defend himself Dwayne came running out the back, "I'm sorry Paul, I'm sorry I'm late."

Shrugging his shoulders Paul jumped off of the apron, "it's okay, we've not been waiting long so I can forgive you for that."

Stephanie slid off the apron, "can we just get on with this please? I do have other work to do."

Dwayne moved closer to the ring, "not a problem. I'm sorry for keeping you so let's get on with this so you can get on with work and not get in trouble with your Dad."

"Vince getting mad at me doesn't bother me at all, I just want to make sure that all of my work gets done as I want to set a good example for the other members of the writing team and to prove I can multi-task."

Starting to stretch on the ropes Dwayne wasn't going to get into the fact that she called her Dad 'Vince' but he did want to set one thing straight, "I just want to make you understand that you are one of the most hard working people in this company. You work your ass off and a lot of people, except Paul, can learn a lot from you about."

Paul looked shocked, "what are you saying about me?"

Chuckling Dwayne shook his head, "I meant that you also work your ass off so you don't actually need to learn anything from Stephanie."

"Well in that case you can live."

Dwayne smirked, "thanks, I appreciate it. So the script I saw said that I had to get a little physical with Stephanie. How physical are we comfortable with?"

Shrugging her shoulders Stephanie climbed up onto the apron, "I'm comfortable with whatever you want to do, whatever you think will enhance the storyline as long as we can practise it right now I'm comfortable with anything."

Paul looked at Dwayne as his mind went into overdrive, "we know this storyline is going to go for a few more months so we really need to start small and work our way up to something bigger and more physical as the storyline progresses."

As he listened to him talk Dwayne absolutely understood where Paul was coming from and he really was impressed with the way his mind worked, "I absolutely understand and I think that's a great idea. If we want to start small me punching Stephanie wouldn't really work for my character as I'm supposed to be a good guy."

"You could either accidentally punch her if she like got in the way or do something different."

Stephanie frowned as the two of them discussed what should happen to her character, "why don't the two of you attempt an irish whip and Dwayne reverses it and throws you into me and knocks me off the apron?"

Paul tried not to smile or appear overly impressed incase it got taken the wrong way, "and here I was thinking I was the smart one in this marriage."

Chuckling she leant on the ropes, "and this is where you learn that behind every smart man is an even smarter woman."

Dwayne laughed, "and we have a winner, congratulations Stephanie."

Carefully bowing whilst stood on the apron she smiled, "why thank you very much. So are we practising you 'accidentally' knocking me off the apron or just doing it out there tonight and hoping for the best?"

Paul frowned, "I haven't got a clue, what would you be more comfortable with?"

"A small practise would be good please, I've never fallen off an apron before as an angle and without worrying about breaking my leg or my arm or something."

Dwayne stepped forward, "okay let's start slowly. If you stand on the side of the apron closest to the ramp if you stumble or fall more than you should you won't fall into the announce table or a barricade and hurt yourself."

Moving to the middle of the apron Stephanie nodded, "so if I stand about here it should be right?"

"Exactly. We will attempt this slowly to begin with so we can talk you through it."

She nodded her head whilst Paul stood there silently just watching the two of them talking.

Waving his hand in front of Paul's face Dwayne attempted to get his attention, "focus. I need you to slowly whip me from where Stephanie is so I can reverse you into her."

Shaking his head Paul to clear it of the empty space that was occupying it, "sure. Steph when I run into you I'll gently barge you with my shoulder and then you will fall to the floor and die a slow and painful death."

Before Stephanie even had a chance to think about an answer she heard Paul yelp in pain and watched as he rubbed the back of his head, "what happened?"

"Dwayne hit me."

Dwayne laughed, "enough of the whining like a little bitch let's get on with this before Stephanie has to go."

Turning around Paul swapped places with Dwayne and slowly pretended to irish whip him before he allowed the move to be reversed and he headed towards Stephanie gently barging her with his shoulder and watched as she fell to the floor, "you okay Steph?"

As she stood back up she brushed herself down, "yeah that wasn't as bad as I expected. Let's try it once or twice full speed and see how it goes."

Watching as she got back into position they proceeded to run through the bump twice more before she left to go and work on other things for the show.

As soon as Stephanie had left Dwayne turned to look at Paul, "well you and Stephanie seem to be coping with the break up well, I was expecting this to be awkward."

Shrugging his shoulders Paul brushed it off, "we're professionals, we have to do what we have to do for work so we just get on with it."

"But it must be hard."

Not really in the mood to be polite Paul just said, "not as hard as having people stick their nose into my personal business and constantly asking questions about it. If I want to talk about it I will talk about it but all you and everybody else should care about is whether I do my job properly or not."

Putting his hands up in defence Dwayne took a step back, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you."

Sighing heavily Paul raked his fingers through his hair, "no I am. I'm sorry for taking it out on you Dwayne, I'm just tired, stressed and really want people to just leave me alone."

"Point taken, consider the subject dropped."

Paul was relieved, "thank God for that, now if only everybody else would drop it too my life would be so much easier."

Dwayne shrugged, "give them time and they will, you'll be old news and they will move on with their life."

"Not a moment too soon for my sanity but let's get this match sorted because I have a production meeting to get to."

The two men sat down in the ring and went over their match ready for the show later.
