It had been a couple of hours since Paul had seen Stephanie properly because they had both been busy getting ready for the show and in the production meeting they had had to keep their distance because someone had sat beside Stephanie on each side before Paul had gotten there.
It was twenty minutes before the start of the show and Stephanie was finally able to change clothes for the show. Walking into the locker room she knew the cameras weren't set up in there yet as they were needed elsewhere for earlier promos. Making sure the door was locked behind her she stripped off her shirt as she walked towards the corner of the room where her suitcase was.
Paul had been in the bathroom changing into his trunks when he heard the door open so pleased to know that he was about to see his girlfriend again he just grabbed his shirt to put on when he was with her. Opening the bathroom door he whistled lowly when he saw her walking across the room practically topless, "looking good gorgeous."
Blushing she tossed her shirt at his face, "you're talking to the wrong person, I am far from gorgeous."
Grabbing her shirt he held onto it, "you're right, you are far from gorgeous."
Before he had chance to finish she glared at him, "you're meant to disagree with me if you don't want a lifetime on the couch."
Moving closer to her he slipped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him pressing a kiss to her cheek, "if you had let me finish I would have said you are far from gorgeous because you are the most beautiful person on the planet, you are so far from gorgeous you're not even on the scale."
Melting into him she couldn't help but rest her head on his shoulder and wrap her arms around his waist, "you're so sweet even when you're talking out of your ass."
"You will always be the most beautiful woman in the world to me. I know you don't have as much confidence in yourself as you should but believe me when I tell you that I think you are incredibly beautiful and I am blessed to have you in my life."
Leaning up she pressed a soft kiss to his cheek, "I love you. As much as I would like to stay here in your arms for a bit longer I have to change my clothes and make sure my make-up and hair is perfect still within like the next fifteen minutes."
Pressing a kiss to her forehead he smiled softly, "I love you too beautiful. I'm going to pull away and let you get dressed and try not to leer at you or something as you do."
Rolling her eyes she pulled away from him and turned to her suitcase pulling out her clothes for the evening, "if I didn't know you any better I would actually be offended by what you just said but as it is you I will give you a free pass this once."
Smiling softly he threw his shirt onto the couch before he folded up her shirt and placed it on the top of her suitcase for her, "thank you."
Walking over to the couch he pulled his t-shirt on before he sat down and started to put his wrestling boots on ready for the show taking quick glances at Stephanie as he did so.
Despite the fact that she could feel his eyes on her as she got dressed it didn't make her feel grossed out at all. As soon as she was dressed she made her way into the bathroom and checked out her hair and make-up in the mirror satisfied when she saw that it was mostly the same as it had been when it had been done by the professional.
Tying his hair back neatly again he was fully ready for the show just as Stephanie walked out of the bathroom, "so are you ready for this?"
Brushing her skirt down she grabbed her boots from the floor as she made her way to the couch. Sitting down she bent down to pull the boots on, "I'm about as ready as I will ever be. I'm nervous about this bump because the luck I am having lately means it will go horribly horribly wrong."
Laughing softly he shook his head, "you don't have terrible luck, you still have me don't you? We have practised the bump and it went well so just focus and keep your eye on the ball and everything will be okay."
Finishing zipping the boots she sat back and crossed her legs, "why do you have so much faith in me? What did I ever do to deserve it?"
Raising his eyebrow he wasn't entirely sure what she meant or where she was coming from because he felt like she should have faith in herself, "I have so much faith in you because you're beautiful, smart and you have a great head for the business. I don't think you did anything but being yourself to deserve it but if I think of a reason I will definitely let you know."
Elbowing him gently she rested her head on his shoulder, "dork. We should clean up this room a little to make sure it is good for the cameras to come in in about fifteen minutes."
Saluting he stood up carefully so he didn't hurt her neck and moved to tidy up his portion of the room, he didn't want her to be mad at him at all.
The backstage segments had gone well and it was now time for the match. Stood in the guerilla waiting for their cue to go out Dwayne was pacing back and forth, Paul was stood deep in thought and Stephanie was stood there feeling awkward, she could feel Vince's eyes on her and she knew he wanted to say something but as much as possible she wanted to avoid that so she kept her eyes on the floor and kept some distance and people between them.
The second Paul's music hit Stephanie felt relief because it meant she could get away from her Dad and focus on the match and prove to herself and the boys that she could handle herself when involved physically in an angle.
As he entered the ring Paul noticed the odd demeanour of Stephanie so completing his ring entrance he paced the ring as he waited for Dwayne's music to hit. Once the music hit and he knew that the camera was going to be focussed on Dwayne and not them he pulled her closer and whispered in her ear, "you okay?"
Turning her head to the side she smiled softly, "just a little of nervousness, it's nothing that won't be cured when the bell rings."
Laughing softly he pressed a soft kiss to her lips, "good luck but I know you can do it."
Trying not to smile as he said that she pulled away and glared at Dwayne as he entered the ring and she climbed out.
The match was going well and everything was going as planned right up to the point that Stephanie climbed on the apron.
Just as Paul saw Stephanie climb on the apron Dwayne grabbed him to prepare for the irish whip and he knew it was too early but as he went to stall it Dwayne started to run which forced Paul to go with it. Because there was not enough momentum behind them when Dwayne threw Paul back towards the ropes he threw him harder.
Stephanie wasn't quite in position when she saw Paul being thrown back towards her and she froze in fear as she saw him coming until he collided with her and she knew at that moment that this was going to hurt.
