Paul collided with Stephanie trying not to hurt her as much as possible but it was the momentum that carried him into her a lot harder than he wanted to and he could only stand there dumbly and watch her fall.

When Paul collided with her she tried to save herself but she couldn't save herself completely and when she landed she twisted her knee falling forward and colliding hard with the barricade. Grabbing her knee she winced in pain but quickly realised she needed to get up and get on with the rest of the show. Standing up she limped to the side of the ring and leant on it for support.

Going through the motions for the end of the match Paul felt so bad that Stephanie's fall was so bad, she was really nervous and then it went wrong. The guilt was definitely something he was going to have to live with today. Once the match ended Paul quickly got out of the ring and knelt beside Stephanie, "you okay?"

Shaking her head she rubbed her knee before she rubbed his back gently, "don't know, it kind of hurts a lot right now but I'm sure it's okay. Are you ready to walk backstage now?"

Pulling himself up on the ropes he nodded his head before he turned around and slipped his arm around her shoulder to act like he was leaning on her and hopefully help her.

As she wrapped her arm around his waist and they started to walk towards the ramp she limped heavily barely able to put weight on her leg.

From the ring Dwayne was fully aware of the pain Stephanie seemed to be in and he knew it was his fault as he had jumped the gun with the move so he would have to make sure she was okay and make it up to her when he got backstage.

Walking through the curtain Paul stood up straight again and quickly moved Stephanie over to a chair and sat her down in a chair kneeling down in front of her and without thinking he grabbed her knee, "so where does it hurt?"

"My knee?"

Lifting his head he rolled his eyes at her but noticed that her eyes were kind of glazed over and she was staring off into space. Turning his head he sighed when he saw what or who she was staring at.

Feeling eyes on her she had a feeling she knew who was watching her and despite the fact that she wanted to keep her attention on Paul as he was making her feel special by fussing. She couldn't stop herself though and she lifted her head and looked at Vince but then just stared right past him as her mind drifted to when things weren't so complicated between them.

Vince could see that his daughter was in pain and he wanted so badly to go over and talk to her and see what was wrong and make her feel better but the way she had been with him he knew she wouldn't appreciate it.

Dwayne came barrelling through the curtain desperate to find Stephanie and check up on her but he was in such a rush he nearly fell over Paul's legs barely stopping in time, "was it a smart idea to kneel by there?"

Turning his attention to Dwayne Paul smirked, "well if I ended up tripping you up then it would have been hilarious and such a brilliant idea. Steph was struggling to walk so I thought it best to sit her here and check on her knee to see whether she needed to see the trainer or not."

"And the verdict is Paul?"

Paul moved away from Stephanie and stood up, "the verdict is that she needs to see the trainer . . ."

Before Paul had chance to finish his sentence Dwayne jumped in, "so things aren't awkward for you two and because I kind of owe Stephanie as this whole incident was my fault I will take her, don't worry."

Stephanie opened her mouth to protest but before she had chance to get a word out Dwayne had hoisted her up in his arms and she let out a squeal, "Dwayne!"

Smiling innocently Dwayne looked around, "me? What did I do?"

Rolling her eyes she wasn't in the mood to fight with him so just turned her head and gazed back at Paul longingly wishing it was he who was carrying her.

Staring as his girlfriend got carried off by another man he sighed heavily and ran his hand over his head making his way to the steps to go and get showered but stopped when Vince walked in front of him, "what? It was an accident, shit happens and Dwayne and I are sorry."

Shaking his head Vince grabbed Paul's arm and pulled him over to the corner out of people's way and earshot, "that's not what I was going to say. I wanted to know what's going on with you and Stephanie? You seemed awfully protective over her when you came backstage."

Looking at his boss like he was crazy he shook his head, "you really think you have the right to ask that? You do realise that feelings don't get switched off overnight and despite the fact that we're not together right now it doesn't mean we're not friends and I don't still care for her. Whether she had been a girlfriend of mine or not I would have still been concerned about her because that fall had to have hurt. If you will excuse me though I need a shower and to leave and get some dinner before I have to drive to Smackdown."

Not leaving any room for an argument Paul walked away from Vince and headed straight for the locker room to get a shower and wait for Stephanie to return.

Sighing with relief when Dwayne finally put her down on one of the trainer's tables she glared at him, "you did not have to carry me, I am a big girl and I managed to walk up the ramp so I could have walked here by myself thanks."

Shrugging his shoulders he perched himself on the edge of the table as they waited for the trainer to be free, "I know but it's better to be safe than sorry, you could have done some serious damage in that fall."

"Eh, I'll live no matter what. You don't have to stay with me though, I'm big enough and ugly enough that I can find my way back to the locker room all by myself."

Laughing softly he shook his head, "as true as I know that is I want to make sure you are okay and I'd like to escort you back to the locker room. I know about you and Paul so you know, I'm here for you."

Her eyes widened and she looked at him shocked, did he really know that they were still seeing each other? Gulping she chewed on her lip nervously, "you know about us?"

"Yeah. Paul told me that whilst I was away something went down with the boys and you're no longer together."

Breathing a sigh of relief that that was all it was she nodded her head, "that is the truth but I'm okay, we will get through it. I don't need babysitting though."

Shrugging his shoulders he crossed his arms over his chest, "spoiler, you're not getting rid of me."

Rolling her eyes playfully she shifted on the table, "great, my own personal bodyguard."

Just then the trainer walked over to check on her and see how badly she was hurt.

Fifteen minutes later and she was hobbling through the corridor with her arm looped through Dwayne's, "I told you I was okay."

"Did you miss the part where he said that you should rest, ice and elevate your knee? What about the part where he said there could be damage but it's a bit too banged up to be able to tell just yet?"

Whistling innocently she looked around her, "did somebody say something?"

Nudging his shoulder against hers he shook his head, "you're so bad but luckily for you this is your locker room so I don't have the opportunity to tell you off."

Paul had just finished his shower and walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist and water dripping down his chest from his wet hair as he carried another towel in his hand. He was halfway across the room when the door was pushed open and Stephanie hobbled through followed by Dwayne, "what did he say?"

Shrugging her shoulders Stephanie moved to sit on the couch and tossed her boots to the side of her, "I'm fine, everything is fine."

Dwayne leant against the wall and rolled his eyes, "that is lies. She was told to rest, ice and elevate her leg and keep an eye on it and if it isn't better by next week then she needs to see him again and he'll have it x-rayed."

Moving to sit next to Stephanie on the couch he shook his head, "you will be doing exactly as you were told if you know what is good for you but even if you don't want to I will make sure you do."

Jumping in Dwayne wasn't sure that was a good idea, "is that wise? I don't mind taking care of her whilst we're on the road, it is kind of my fault."

Rolling her eyes Stephanie crossed her arms over her chest, "I am not a baby and I do not need babysitting. If I want to rest my knee then I will and if I don't then I won't."

Getting up from the couch Paul moved over to Dwayne, "I will take it from here. Thank you for looking after her."

Shrugging his shoulders he pushed himself off the wall, "not a problem, it was kind of my fault anyway so it was the least I could do for her. If you or she needs me you know where I am."

Nodding his head Paul watched as Dwayne left before he quietly locked the door behind him, "you and I need to talk young lady."
