Frowning she looked down at the floor nervously knowing she was about to get hell from him for being so stubborn, "save your breath, I already know what you're going to say."
Sitting back down beside her on the couch he tried not to sit too close to her so he didn't make her wet as he was still damp from his shower, "do you?"
Turning to face him as best she could whilst not twisting her knee she sighed softly, "most likely yes. You're going to tell me to not be so damn stubborn and to do exactly as the trainer told me to do."
Slightly impressed that she knew him so well he nodded his head, "you would be mostly correct there but I'd stretch it out a little giving you lots of reasons why I'm right and you're wrong."
Rolling her eyes playfully she shook her head, "you always think you're right but you should know by now that I'm right and you're wrong."
Tilting his head he was slightly amused by her reaction to it, "you are, are you? Why did nobody inform me of the fact that you are always right and I am always wrong?"
"I don't know, maybe they just don't like you."
Pouting he didn't like that at all, "that is just mean Stephanie, everybody loves me. I'm not going to let you change the subject though, you need to take care of your knee as they are fragile things and can be quite painful and difficult to heal if you don't take care of it."
She knew he was dramatising it but she just found his concern quite sweet and touching, "but I can't sit around and rest my knee, I have work to do and other things I have to do."
Framing her face with his hands he looked deep into her eyes, "you need to look after your leg, your work doesn't involve you walking around so don't give me that shit. Just because you're stubborn it doesn't mean you can't work around your temporary mobility problems."
Frustrated and wanting to change the subject she reached for the knot of his towel and started to undo it, "why don't you and I just get a little more comfortable and you can convince me to take things easy?"
Moving his hands from her face to where her hands were on the knot of his towel he put his hands over hers, "and we can absolutely do this right here and right now can't we? Why don't we open the door and let your Dad just walk in and see us in a compromising position?"
Pulling away from him she kept a lot of distance between them, "it's okay, I see how it is."
Not wanting to do this here and now he just got up from the couch and went over to his suitcase and started to get dressed.
Sitting on the couch brooding with anger she was so close to just snapping at him but deep down in her heart she knew it wasn't his fault and she was just taking her anger at everything else out on him.
As soon as he was dressed Paul started tossing his stuff into his bag, once he was done with his he turned to face his girlfriend, "need any help packing or are you fine doing it all by yourself?"
Sighing heavily she moved to the edge of the couch, "I can do it myself. I'm not going to bother changing and will just do it when I get back to the hotel and get straight into my nightclothes."
Shrugging his shoulders he put his bags together ready to carry them out, "your choice."
Finishing off packing her stuff away Stephanie hated the silence more than she would hate him being angry with her, she felt like her life was spiralling out of control and it was all her fault.
Waiting for her to finish packing her bags he pulled his jacket on. As soon as she was all done he picked up his bags and hers and walked to the door, "I'm assuming you can manage to walk to the car all by yourself."
"Paul wait, can we talk about this?"
Shrugging his shoulders he pulled the door open, "you can talk if you want, it doesn't mean I'll be listening to what you have to say though."
Watching as he walked out of the room she had to try one more time, "Paul!"
When he didn't stop she hobbled after him as he was her ride back to the hotel. Walking out of the room she was almost immediately face to face with her Dad and not in the mood to talk to him and be polite she just kept walking past him completely ignoring his presence.
Vince wanted to talk to his daughter, he wanted to check up on her and make sure she was okay. Walking up to her locker room he wasn't surprised when Paul left the locker room seemingly in a bad mood with Stephanie. Remaining just outside the locker room he knew she would be out any second as Paul seemed to be carrying her luggage.
When he saw her hobbling out of the locker room he took his chance, "Stephanie, how are you?"
Vince could only stand there and watch as she kept on walking right past him not even glancing at him for a second, "Stephanie please."
Completely ignoring her Dad she was more interested in trying to sort things out with her boyfriend than attempting to have any sort of conversation with her Dad.
Stephanie was spaced out and paying absolutely no attention to the people around her until she felt a hand on her shoulder and felt like her heart stopped beating for a second. Turning her head to the side she wasn't surprised to see Dwayne stood there, "hi."
Chuckling at her reaction he smiled, "hey. I just wondered if you needed a lift back to the hotel or even just the parking garage?"
Laughing at his offer she shook her head, "no I'm okay thanks. Paul has all of my luggage and I assume he is giving me a ride back to the hotel and as for a lift to the parking garage I will say thanks but no thanks. It won't kill me to hobble my way there."
Shrugging his shoulders he wasn't going to argue with her on that, "your choice but you can't say I never offered. Remember what the trainer said though please."
Groaning she was sick of people telling her what to do, "oh for fuck's sake. What is it with people thinking because Vince and I aren't on speaking terms that I need a Father figure and someone to tell me what to do?"
Stopping he stood there with a raised eyebrow, "so mine and someone else's concern for your well-being is unwanted? Consider me told, I won't bother again."
Sighing heavily she rubbed her temples, "I'm sorry Dwayne, I don't mean to take everything out on you."
Shrugging his shoulders he could forgive her as he could understand why she was acting like she was but he wasn't the person that needed the apology, he had a feeling he wasn't the first to feel the wrath of her tongue, "I forgive you but would I be wrong to say that I'm not the first person you've kind of shouted at tonight?"
Shaking her head she hated to admit it but he was right, "no you're not the first person."
"Then maybe you need to apologise to him, he deserves that much."
"Maybe but I doubt he will forgive me."
If there was one thing Dwayne knew and that was how much Paul adored Stephanie, "if you're sincere and honest with him I can't see why he wouldn't."
Looking at him like he was crazy she shook her head, "thanks for the vote of confidence but I'd bet money that he won't."
"There is only way for you to find out, talk to him."
Dwayne decided to quit whilst he was ahead and walked off leaving Stephanie alone with her thoughts.
