Stephanie was just about to get up to make her way down to the dining room for breakfast when there was a knock at her hotel room door again. Slightly irritated at the interruption she made her way to the door opening it to see Dwayne on the other side, "I thought we were meeting downstairs in like ten minutes?"

Chuckling he nodded his head, "we were meant to be, I just finished my workout early and decided to swing by to see if you needed help walking or simply just wanted some company on the way down."

Feeling stubborn because it wasn't Paul she shook her head, "I don't need help walking thanks but seeing as you're here we may aswell walk down together."

He could see in her eyes that she was being stubborn but it wasn't his place to argue with her about it so let it drop, "don't sound too enthusiastic will you?"

Laughing softly she shook her head, "I didn't mean it like that I swear. Thank you for the offer."

Shrugging his shoulders he just held the door for her as she went to grab her key card and then hobbled towards the door again.

The ride in the elevator down to the ground floor was done in silence and they individually got heir own breakfast before they sat at a table together.

Once they were both seated Dwayne wanted to find out how things were, "so how is your knee this morning?"

Shrugging her shoulders as she stabbed at a pancake with her fork, "painful, I am a terrible patient and really don't like not being able to move about freely."

Looking down at the table he felt really bad, "I'm sorry Steph, really I am."

Shaking her head she didn't need him feeling guilty as it was just one of those things, "as long as you didn't do it on purpose you really don't need to apologise, it's just one of those things that happened."

"Why are you so nice about it?"

Laughing she didn't realise the correct wrestling etiquette was to be rude, "if you'd prefer I can be angry about it and be rude to you?"

He really didn't want that but most people were angry when they got injured due to somebody else's mistake, "I do like that you're not angry, I just figured with everything else going on and the way you were last night you would be angry about it. Well, that and mostly everyone else is always pissed when they get injured due to someone else's mistake."

Shrugging her shoulders it really wasn't worth taking her anger at certain things and people out on him and her talk with Paul last night had made her feel better, "I'm sorry about last night, it was just one of those nights where I allowed every thing and every one to get to me."

"Don't worry about it, other people have been worse and from what I have managed to gather it's understandable that you'd be a little angry at the wrestlers."

Sighing heavily there was one thing she hated about this business and that was where everyone knew everything about everyone else, "how much do you know?"

Not sure if this was some sort of trap and excuse for her to be angry with him over it he decided to just answer anyway, "not a whole lot. The only things I know is what Paul said about last week and how the two of you were forced to split up and what I overheard some of the guys saying about it was about time Paul got what was coming to him or something. From what I can gather whatever happened all went down when I was in LA."

Eating some more of her breakfast in silence she did like Dwayne and most of the time he was trustworthy but he wasn't sure if he was completely trustworthy, "yes Paul and I split up, yes it was forced and as for the wrestlers I don't know what they're thinking but Paul being with me did not help his career in any way, shape or form, if anything he had to work harder to try and prove himself to them but it didn't work. The short version is last week Vince forced us to split up because he had been getting a lot of complaints about Paul getting favourable treatment because of me."

Looking at her like she was crazy he wasn't sure if he had heard her right, "can you repeat that last bit again, I don't think I heard you properly."

Not sure how he could have misheard her she just repeated herself, "I said that last week Vince forced us to split up due to a lot of complaints from other wrestlers about how Paul was being treated and how they felt he was getting favourable treatment because of out relationship."

"Damn, that is what I thought you said. I know I haven't been around a lot lately but even I know that's bullshit. I watched the shows and he has been losing as much as the next guy and he always works his ass off. Do you mind me asking why your Dad bowed to the pressure from the boys?"

Shrugging her shoulders she didn't know the answer to that and she doubted she ever would find out the truth, "the way Vince thinks is as much of a mystery to me as it is to you. I haven't really been talking to him recently and have been far too angry to ask him."

Dwayne felt bad for both her and Paul but it did explain why they were both so moody and were isolating themselves from everyone else, "do you think there is any hope for you and Paul in the future? Maybe when things blow over and people see that the treatment he gets now is the same as he was getting before your Dad will allow you to get back together?"

"Who knows, your guess is as good as mine. Sometimes I just want to walk away from this business so I don't have to deal with the political bullshit and can be with Paul in peace. It's stupid that just because I'm Vince's daughter people think my boyfriend would get preferential treatment but if a low card Diva dated one of the top male stars people wouldn't say shit if she suddenly got the world's largest push. Being with me hasn't helped Paul's career at all, it's only hindered him."

Putting his hands up in defence she was preaching to the converted. He had known Paul for a really long time as they had practically got their big breaks at the same time and he had seen him around and seen how hard he worked, "you don't need to tell me. I have seen how hard Paul works for a really long time and nothing I have seen has changed since the two of you got close. He has wanted to be a wrestler for so long that I don't think he knows the meaning of the words 'slacking off', I really don't think they're in his vocabulary. You're a fighter though, he's a fighter, the two of you can get through this bullshit together."

Smiling softly it felt nice having someone being positive about them, "I'm glad at least someone doesn't think he's had an advantage from dating me and doesn't think he has slacked off, shame the rest of the locker room don't agree. If I knew it wouldn't cause a massive row I would happily stick my middle finger up to the entire locker room and tell them to keep their noses out of my life and go on openly dating Paul but at the end of the day it is his career at stake and I just don't want to risk it for him."

"Give it time, it'll all blow over and if the two of you really love each other and are destined to be together you will be back together."

As much as she hated deceiving people by pretending they weren't together she wasn't about to admit that she was still seeing him, "I hope so."

Dwayne smiled widely, "I know so, you're both too stubborn to not work through the shit if it's meant to be."
