Sora fiddled with the keys in the backyard, dusting the dirt off of his hands he tussled the dirt around and opened the back door. He stumbled inside and locked the door.
''Dad!'' He ran upstairs and opened his father's door. His father wa reading in the corner, he lift his head up and looked at his sixteen year old son. He smiled warmly, a confusing glance creeping in.
''What is it Sora?'' his name, it was Sora's pride and joy, he was named after his mother Ciel. His father would gain an odd look when he said it, like it brought him peace.
''I-I found this weird bug! Like a mantis only like way big!'' Sora opened up his bag and brought 'it' out. 'It' looked quite upset about now.
''Huh? Oh, it looks like a rare breed probably from another country!'' His father smiled widely, something he hardly did often since...
''What's wrong? You look sad...'' His father frowned, Sora hated that, how easy it was for his father to frown and cry. It left a bitter taste in his mouth.
''Oh-! I was just worried since it's rare I won't know how to take care of it...'' It wasn't a lie and it wasn't the truth just something else, something that didn't involve...
''I'm an expert on animal care! I didn't become a zoologist for nothing!'' His father laughed as he lead Sora from his room to the living room. He was just thirty-six, young healthy and handsome! You wouldn't think there was anything wrong with him...except...
When Sora stepped down he was staring at the picture of a brunette short-haired french woman on the table. Her hair was like Sora's. It contrasted heavily against his father's neat curly black curtain that fell to his waist. Her green eyes shining brightly as she sat on a swing in a schoolyard, surrounded by smiling people...like they were family. Sora looked ten then. His father looked happy. They all looked happy.
''Sora, who's the lady in the picture?'' He turned smiling. His young looking face betrayed by his emotional eyes and warm wise all-knowing smile.
Sora smiled too ''Just someone we knew a long time ago'' he would always smile.
...he forgot.
