7. Bound to You
Elena was sitting in the middle of a lovely old styled fancy room. It had beautiful curtains and the comfiest chairs she'd ever sat in. She was enjoying the soft music playing in the corner, and she was sitting at a big beautiful oak table, eating some very delicious roast chicken and vegetables. Elena felt like she was in heaven, it was perfect in this little room. Absolutely perfect. And absolutely a lie.
Elijah walked into the room and just looked at her smiling face, it seemed so tragic to involve Elena in this sordid affair, but it was the only way to get vengeance on his brother. His brother, who time after time had disappointed and ashamed him. His brother who promised always and forever to be there for him, his brother who betrayed him by killing the love of his life. His brother… no, Niklaus wasn't even really Elijah's brother. A true brother wouldn't have done that to him. Elijah looked around the horrible room. It's drab old style brick walls and the boring metal bed and thin straw mattress in the corner of the room, and then back to Elena. Who was sitting at the table, the boring metal table and sitting on a boring metal seat, eating what Elijah only assumed was chicken. He sighed gently and sat down opposite her. "She'll be back soon Elena, and then all this will be over" he muttered to her gently.

Charlotte walked into the Decade Dance with Rebekah and looked around the room. It was time to reap havoc on the sweet little town of Mystic Falls, Rebekah and her were both sick to death of being stuck there, waiting for Klaus' return and this seemed like the easiest way to get him back into town. Charlotte liked Mystic Falls when it was alive with Klaus, she liked it when he was here and she had a real partner in crime. Not Rebekah, who had made her swear not to hurt so many of her 'friends' at the local high school. It pained Charlotte to have to hold back, even if it was only a little bit. They both glanced around the large school gym and saw the 'gang', it was strange seeing them all in one place, and even stranger to see Elizabeth there. This part was strange because Elizabeth had explicitly said she wasn't going to the dance, and yet there she was.
Elizabeth looked across the room as Rebekah and Charlotte walked in, a frown instantly forming on her face. Elizabeth hated both of them and she knew that they were both hurting with the sting of Klaus' abandonment, and sadism and hurt was not a good combination for them to have. She frowned and began to look for Stefan, knowing that he was really the only person who could talk to Rebekah right now, considering their history and she supposed that she would tackle the red headed demon. She found Stefan and uttered a few, quick and sharp words about distracting Rebekah and/or getting her the hell out of there and then she walked towards Charlotte, taking a deep breath as she did so as this was the first real conversation they had had in years, let alone since Klaus abandoned them both.
Their eyes connected as Elizabeth approached her, Charlotte's dark brown and slightly devilish eyes contrasted greatly with Elizabeth's bright blue and open eyes, them both revealing something about their personalities. Elizabeth had always hated Charlotte and yet in many ways respected her, she was one of the only people Klaus ever treated as his equal and she overlooked that so easily. She got closer to her and muttered under her breath "what are you doing here?" so lowly that the humans would not have been able to hear. She glanced back towards Stefan who was now speaking to Rebekah in the corner of the room, Elena standing with them and looking moderately angry. Charlotte gave Elizabeth a smirk, twirling a strand of her hair behind her ear and shrugging slightly before muttering "I just wanted a night of fun, Wilkins… is that too much to ask?".
Elizabeth made a face as she heard that, absolutely hating the thought of Charlotte's fun, knowing that it was similar to the way Klaus liked to enjoy his nights. Elizabeth then let out a sigh, "Charlotte, I know you miss him… but acting out and preying on some local teenagers, is not okay" she muttered moderately harshly, giving her a look over like she was mental. Charlotte just laughed in her face, something that Elizabeth had to admit she was used to her doing, she took a threatening step towards her then. "I'm not acting out, Lizzie." Charlotte began darkly, her eyes deep with hatred for Elizabeth, that Eli swore nearly burnt through her skin. "I'm teaching Klaus a lesson" she said darkly before reaching out and snapping Elizabeth's neck quickly.
Charlotte supported Elizabeth as her body went limp, she moved her into a nearby chair and gave a dazzling smile to a rather goofy looking teenager who was sitting a little way away. "She's had a little too much to drink" she muttered, giving him a wink before she stood up straight and scanned the crowd for Elena, spotting her with Rebekah and Stefan in the corner. Charlotte couldn't help but give a triumphant smirk as she began towards the three of them, who were actually seeming to have a moderately pleasant conversation. As she reached Elena she grabbed her arm "Elizabeth needs you or something" she muttered, nodding towards a nearby door that lead to a secluded corridor. She looked over at Stefan then and smiled sweetly, knowing that while he may not be in his ripper mind, he still would remember her fondly. She took a step towards him slowly as Elena headed off down the corridor with a frown on her face, Rebekah following her. "I hope you've got a backup doppelganger" she whispered to Stefan before reaching over and snapping his neck also, easing him into a chair also and following off after Rebekah and Elena.
Rebekah was waiting with Elena in the hallway, hastily dialling her brother's number on her phone and glancing back down the hall as she saw Charlotte walking towards them. "Nik," Rebekah said as she got his voicemail "I think you're going to want to call me back… I mean I'm sure you want to hear Elena's last words." She muttered darkly as Charlotte reached them, grabbing Elena – who let out a small scream – by the throat and pushing her against the wall. "Sorry darling, this really isn't personal." Charlotte muttered, glaring at her as she snapped her neck quickly, something which surprised Rebekah quite a bit, knowing that Charlotte wasn't usually the type of person to show any kind of mercy. She was just about to comment on the fact when she felt her phone buzz and a large smirk crossed her face. "Why hello my beloved brother" she said seriously as she answered her phone "I'm terribly sorry to inform you that your darling Elena has just died", the cruel grin on Rebekah's face was enough to turn a stomach, but Charlotte just grinned in return to her.
In the week that had followed the decade dance Charlotte has not heard a single word from Klaus, but she didn't exactly stick around to find out what had happened. She returned to where she knew Mikael would be, having finally completed the task of killing the next doppelganger, she'd known all along that he wanted her to kill her before Klaus broke the curse, but she knew that Mikael probably would be pretty chuffed that Charlotte had managed to kill her before Klaus had managed to make hybrids. Charlotte felt sick to her stomach with what she'd done, of course it helped that she was angry with Klaus for how he had treated her, and she knew that having Rebekah help her would have certainly eased the blame off of Charlotte's shoulders. All in all Charlotte was pretty pleased with herself for how she had accomplished her task. She'd spent years deceiving Klaus, and all of the other Mikaelson's at that and she hated how much that upset her. Of course she knew exactly why it upset her, but she wasn't about to admit to anyone of her feelings, not even herself.
Mikael was sitting in the bar, a drink in his hand as he waited to finally receive the news he'd been waiting for for years. He was angry that it had taken her this long, but at least she'd finally done it, and at a time when it was fairly important, he'd managed to finally gain an understanding of Niklaus' life at the moment, he knew what made him weak. What he could use to get to him, to ruin him before he finally slaughtered him like the disgrace he was. He glanced over to the door where his prodigy Calix was, casually leaning against the wall with a drink in his hand.
Mikael was glad to see that he hadn't moved, he looked somewhat like a statue, standing there waiting for the same person that Mikael himself was waiting for. He knew that Calix had a conflict of interest here, considering when Mikael had turned him it was the same night that Calix had first laid his eyes on Charlotte. Mikael shifted his gaze then to the other side of the room, where he noticed two people were talking heatedly, his instincts telling him that they were something other than human. He assumed they were witches, they were in New Orleans – a place where his son had set up an entire city into being his.
Mikael sighed, his patience beginning to fade as he glanced down at his watch, Charlotte already being 20 minutes later than she'd said she would be. Just as he'd had that thought they she walked through the doors and headed towards him, Calix's eyes locked onto her as soon as she entered, but he still did not move.
Charlotte let out a breath as she saw Mikael and she walked over to him, sitting in the seat opposite him. She slouched slightly as she just looked at him, she didn't say anything at all, she knew that Mikael would speak as he wanted to. After all of her years with Klaus she'd learnt how Mikaelson's act, and even though Klaus would never ever want to admit it, he is very much like his father. Charlotte basically glared at him as they sat in silence for what felt like hours, she eventually sighed and shifted in her seat with impatience. Mikael almost laughed as she did this and he finally spoke to her "You finally accomplished the easy task I asked of you" he said harshly, watching her closely "although it wasn't soon enough, it seems Niklaus was able to find the doppleganger before you yourself were… yet you still killed her" he muttered to her, making Charlotte's whole body fill with anger and hatred.
"Why don't you stop with the whole, 'you failed' kind of act… I saved you a lot of trouble, okay? Klaus can't make hybrids without Elena's blood, and she's dead now... so you're welcome." She muttered, annoyed as she sat opposite him. She gestured to the bartender to bring her a drink, wanting to at least make this meeting more manageable. As she glanced at the bartender she noticed the set of eyes that were on her and she gave him a strange look in return. 'What a weirdo' she thought to herself before she looked back at Mikael who was just smirking now, a curious look on his face. "Thank you Charlotte, it seems you've outlived your usefulness" Mikael said softly before nodding over at the guy in the corner, who began to walk towards them. Charlotte frowned, looking at Mikael who rose from his seat, straightening his jacket and looking shockingly like Elijah in that moment as he gave her a quick smirk and left the room. Charlotte had just enough time to look over at the man walking towards her before he'd snapped her neck.
