Author's Note: I finally figured out the direct message in response to a review function, so I replied to everyone's comments that way.

Except for Guest-who I can't reply to directly, so Guest: Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter, and Emily's charming side, and Paige getting bolder. Thank you, for reading and reviewing.

Here is part two of their first date.

Chapter 30

Paige was quiet for the duration of the short drive down the road to the entrance into the drive-in. Emily kept peeking glances at her in the review mirror, torn between leaving Paige with her thoughts and coaxing her into talking them out. She didn't want to push, if Paige was still processing. But she also didn't want to have her stewing for the rest of the night.

Before she had come to any kind of conclusion, Paige perked up as they passed through the ticket gate and Emily began making her way across the field towards the screen.

"A drive-in?" she asked, glancing around, as if seeing everything for the first time. Apparently she had failed to notice the large sign on their way up. "I didn't think these even existed anymore.

Honestly, Emily hadn't either. The last time she had been to one was when she was a kid, with her parents. Her dad had been home on a furlough, and the three of them had gone to an all-night showing. She'd fallen asleep in the backseat sometime after the first movie ended and the second one began. This was before they'd moved to Rosewood, the theatre near their old house, on the far side of Philly. She hadn't run across one since the move, until this one had popped up online in her search for date ideas.

"I've never been to one before."

Emily found that sad, though it didn't surprise her. She knew Paige hadn't dated much, and her parents didn't seem like the type for family outings. At least, that was the impression she got from some of the things Paige had said about them.

"Well, I'm glad that your first time will be with me," she said absently, as she pulled into a space and scrutinized the angle of the view, before leaning forward and fiddling with the dial, trying to find the proper station for when the movie started.

The strangled sound Paige made in response to her comment caught Emily's attention and she glanced over, finally clueing in on what she'd said and how it could be construed when she found Paige staring back at her, eyes wide, looking somewhat dazed. She blushed, but couldn't resist the opportunity to tease. She licked her lips and lowered her lashes, giving Paige the most seductive look she could muster.

"Did you really think I would let it be with someone else?" she asked, voice low and husky

Paige swallowed audibly, looking like a deer caught in headlights. Emily broke, unable to keep herself from laughing.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." She knew her apology didn't come across as very sincere, since she couldn't keep a straight face while saying it. But, it was still enough to get Paige to relax a little. She blinked a few times, then slumped into her seat, shaking her head and chuckling softly as well.

"I really didn't mean it like that." Emily laid a hand on Paige's knee, "That's not why I brought you here," she continued, feeling the need to explain, in case Paige had come to the same conclusion her father had. Especially in light of the previous comments. "I'm not expecting anything to happen tonight."

"I know." Paige managed to sound both relieved and disappointed as she laid her hand over Emily's, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"It's almost dark, the movie should be starting soon," she said. "I thought we'd be more comfortable in the back." Suddenly she was glad they'd just had that conversation, otherwise, Paige might get the wrong idea about that comment. Her dad had teased her about making use of the roomy backseat, and he hadn't been entirely wrong. Though intentions for it weren't quite what he had been implying. She just wanted to able to cuddle with Paige as they watched the movie. She couldn't bear the thought of sitting next to her for two hours, in the dark, and not have Paige's arms around. "Is that all right?"

Paige bit her lip, eyes going glazed for a moment, probably as her brain ran through the same scenarios that had been plaguing Emily, before she nodded and released Emily's hand to undo her seatbelt.

They climbed out of the car and moved towards the back. However, while Paige opened the door and climbed in, Emily rounded the car to the trunk and popped it open, gathering up the date "supplies" she had packed earlier. Arms laden down with a blanket, a pillow, a bag full of snacks, and a couple bottles of soda she climbed into the backseat.

"Are we camping out here, or something?" Paige laughed lightly as she took a few of the items from Emily and set them on the floor at their feet. "What's with the survival kit?"

"Ha-ha. Very funny." Emily rolled her eyes as she propped the pillow into the corner where the bench seat met the side panel. "Can you give me a hand with this seat latch?" She strained to reach the lever to push the seat forward but couldn't quite reach. Still chuckling, Paige leaned over and popped the lever, and Emily pushed on the seat back, angling it until it no longer obstructed the view out the windshield.

"Thank you." She leaned back against the pillow, wiggling around to settle herself comfortably against it, then stretched her legs out across the seat back, one foot nudging Paige's hip in the process.

Paige swatted at her foot. "You know, sharing is caring, right? You're going to have to leave me some space."

Emily shook her head and opened her arms. "Come here, dork."

Paige looked at her for a moment before catching on, a huge grin lighting her face as she shuffled into position, leaning back against Emily's chest, her legs tangling with Emily's as they extended out along the seat as well. As soon as Paige had settled, Emily wrapped her arms around her stomach.

"This is nice." Paige snuggled in, draping her arms over Emily's and lacing their fingers together. She craned her neck, pressing a kiss to the underside of Emily's jaw just as the radio flared to life with a burst of static and color flashed across the screen.

Emily hummed in agreement, squeezing Paige around the waist and leaning her head against Paige's as she turned her attention to the screen.

"What did you think of the movie?" Paige asked as the credits began to roll up the screen.

"Hmm? Oh, it was good." Or at least, she assumed it had been. The truth was, she hadn't been paying the strictest attention to the action playing out across the screen, her focus diverted to the girl in her arms, lost in the honey scent of her shampoo, just under her nose, and the faint tickle against her chin from a few loose strands of hair that had come loose from Paige's braid. In the way Paige played idly with her fingers and smoothed her hands across the tops of Emily's thighs.

Paige shifted in her arms, turning her head to get a look at Emily's face. "You hated it, didn't you? Why didn't you say something? We could have left."

"I didn't hate it."

"But, you didn't like it, either."

"To be honest, I wasn't really paying attention. I'm sorry. I tried to pay attention, I did. I just…got distracted."

"Yeah? I know a little bit about that myself?"

"What does that mean?"

"It means, it can be a little hard to concentrate on something when someone's hands are wandering."

Hands? Emily paused a moment, taking stock of her position, a flush heating her body as she realized that her hands had slipped beneath Paige's shirt, one was splayed across her stomach-which wasn't too compromising-the other had slid upwards and was cupping her breast.

"Oh, my god. Paige. I'm so sorry." She couldn't believe that she'd been unintentionally groping Paige. Especially not after the conversation they'd had about having no expectations tonight.

The worst part was, she didn't want to pull her hands away. As soon as she realized what she'd been doing, she realized how good it felt. Paige's skin was soft and warm beneath her touch. The muscles of her stomach contracted and expanded subtly with each breath, and her breast felt full and heavy, not to mention silky smooth against her fingertips.

She shifted, starting to pull her hands from beneath Paige's shirt, only to be stopped as Paige's grip tightened around her wrists

"Hey, no. Don't be sorry," Paige said softly. "Honestly, it felt nice."

Even so, it wasn't exactly appropriate.

"Can you listen to me for a minute, and not get upset?"

Emily didn't like the sound of that, but she nodded and agreed anyway.

"I like that you let your guard down a bit, got a little absent minded and let your hands wander. Don't get me wrong, I love that you've been so patient, so understanding. But sometimes I feel like…more like I'm your student than your equal in this. You're so careful…and cautions… And I appreciate that you're trying to help me feel comfortable. But just like the other day, when we talked about how you need to trust yourself. You also need to trust me. Trust that I know what I'm feeling. What I'm ready for. And, that if I tell you that I like the feeling of my girlfriend's hand wandering beneath my shirt, I mean it."

Emily had bit her tongue at the beginning of Paige's speech so she wouldn't interrupt, and she kept biting on it now as she tried to ignore the sting of her words and focus instead on the message. She had promised Paige she would listen and not get upset, and she was working on keeping that promise.

"Em?" Paige's voice held a note of worry, after Emily had been silent for so long.

She didn't want to say something she might regret later while she was still processing.

"Girlfriend?"

Paige's eyes widened and she bit her lip, looking hesitant. "Is that all right with you?"

Emily felt a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. She liked the idea of being able to call Paige her girlfriend, officially. She'd been referring to Paige that way in her head with increasing regularity, but that wasn't the same as being able to say it out loud. "More than."

A slow smile formed on Paige's lips, her whole face lighting up with it. After a moment, the smile slipped and she sobered. "Is that all you got, from everything I just said?"

Emily shook her head. "No. No, I heard you. And, I get it. My girlfriend doesn't want me to treat her with kid gloves. And she likes it when I feel her up." She squeezed Paige's breast to emphasize her point.

Paige squirmed a little under her touch, and nodded. "Yeah," she laughed a little breathlessly as Emily continued to knead.

She felt a thrill course through her at the touch, Paige's skin heated and soft beneath her hand, made her palm tingle. The faint moan that rose from Paige's throat and the way she arched her chest up into the touch stirred deep in her abdomen. She enjoyed the way Paige's nipple hardened under her touch, and scraped against her skin as she slid her hand across it, and the way Paige's breath washed warmly against the side of her neck with each jagged exhale.

"Come here, girlfriend," she murmured into Paige's ear. "Give me a kiss."

Emily didn't think she'd ever get tired of saying the word, at least, not in relation to Paige and herself.

Paige shifted, turning to hover above her, holding herself up on her forearms as she surged forward, capturing Emily's lips.

They both sighed softly into the kiss, deepening it slowly, almost lazily.

As much as she would have loved to stay here and explore Paige's body some more, the movie had ended and the parking lot was slowly emptying around them. Reluctantly she ended the kiss in a series of pecks and slid her hands from beneath Paige's shirt.

Groaning lightly, Paige lowered herself to lay against Emily, snuggling into her with a soft sigh. "We have to go, don't we?"

"Yeah."

They lay there for a few moments longer, before Paige sighed again and pushed herself up until she was kneeling astride Emily's hips. As much as Emily knew they needed to get going, she was more than content to lay here with Paige straddling her like this, shifting subtly over her as she undid her now-messy braid and finger combed it out into gentle waves and tugged at her clothes, attempting to un-wrinkle them.

Catching Emily staring she paused, a bashful smile tugging at her lips. "What?"

"You're beautiful."

Paige ducked her head, a blush coloring her cheeks. "I'm a mess."

Emily reached out, tucking her hair behind her ear and tipping her chin up.

"You're beautiful," she repeated, rising into a sitting position and brushing her lips softly against Paige's.

She kept the kiss chaste, and pulled away before it could escalate. Ignoring Paige's pout she gently extracted herself from beneath her and clambered ungracefully out of the car. Her legs had fallen asleep some time ago, and now felt ungainly, not to mention on pins and needles, as she moved around to the passenger side of the car to pull open Paige's door for her. Paige accepted her hand with a smile and allowed herself to be guided from the backseat and into the front. Emily shut the door behind her with a gentle click and then made her way around to her side. After a few minutes of fiddling with the latch she got her seat upright again and slid into place.

"Ready?"

Paige nodded, clicking her seatbelt into place as she did so.

The drive back to Rosewood passed quickly, and all too soon Emily was pulling her car up alongside the curb in front of her house. She was out in a flash, striding around to open Paige's door for her before she'd even had a chance to unbuckle. She held a hand out, helping Paige to her feet, and then lacing their fingers together as they walked slowly up the pathway to Emily's front door.

"I had a really great time tonight," Emily said as they mounted the steps, and came to a stop on the porch.

"I think that's supposed to be my line," Paige said, giving her hand a playful tug. "And, that's only because I let you get to second base."

Emily scoffed. "Let me? Oh, please, you were practically begging for it. Oh, Em. Be my girlfriend. Stick your hand up my shirt."

Paige rolled her eyes, biting her lip to supress a smile. "Shut up. And come here." She pulled Emily a step closer, and gripped her hip with her free hand. She tipped her head and pressed her lips to Emily's in a soft, sweet kiss.

"Will I see you again tomorrow?" Emily asked once they'd parted.

Paige pulled a face as she shook her head. "Unfortunately, no. My mom's making me help out at some church event thing. I'll be stuck there pretty much all day."

Emily nodded. Her mom would be at that event as well. And so would Hannah. Mrs. Marin had roped her in as well. "That sucks."

"Yeah. But it's for a good cause. I think. I mean, it's a church. It has to be a good cause, right?"

Emily chuckled softly at the thought of Paige volunteering for something, but having no idea what.

"I'm sure it is," she said as she leaned in for another kiss, this one a little more lingering than the last.

"Did you want to come in for a bit?" she asked.

"I should probably be getting home." Paige offered an apologetic smile. "My mom will have me up at the crack of dawn tomorrow."

"Okay." Emily pouted, to let Paige know what she thought of her answer, "Let me just get your stuff for you then." She tugged the front door open and guided Paige across the threshold, dropping her hand only so she could pick up the flower and cd she'd gotten for her.

"Emily, honey, is that you?"

They both turned at the sound of Pam's voice, and craned to get a look into the living room to her curled up on the couch, watching tv.

"Oh, hey Mom."

"Hi, Mrs. Fields."

"It's Pam, honey. Please. How many times do I have to tell you that?" she chided gently as she tossed off the blanket covering her lap and stood.

"Sorry, Pam," Paige murmured, though Emily didn't miss the smirk she shot her way.

Emily shook her head.

"I'm going to go into the kitchen, make some tea. Would either of you like anything?"

"No, thanks Mom."

"No, thank you Pam. I have to be going."

"Okay. Did you two have a nice evening?" She detoured away from the kitchen to cross the room towards them.

Both girls nodded.

"Yeah. It was wonderful."

Pam's eyes sharpened at the faraway tone in Paige's voice, and Emily struggled not to wince.

"Where did you go for dinner?"

"That Italian place I found online. The one I showed you the pictures from the website?"

Pam nodded absently. "Did you like the place?"

"Yeah. It was cozy. And the food was amazing." Emily decided not to mention anything about the staff. "We even got some free dessert. There's actually some left over, if you want any." They had shared a few of the small, sugared donuts as they watched the movie, but the largely portioned dinner and the rich chocolate dipping sauce had limited the amount either of them were able to eat.

"No, thank you. Put it in the fridge, maybe you'll want it tomorrow." Pam said. "And, how was the movie?"

"Pretty good," Emily said with a shrug. She knew what her mother was doing, and she refused to play along. Especially since she knew if she did, her mother would catch her in a lie, and know she hadn't actually watched the movie. Then she'd assume all kinds of horrible things, and probably never let Emily leave the house again. At least not without a chaperone.

"Emily wasn't much interested in it," Paige said. "I enjoyed it."

"Yeah? I've heard good things about it. But can't decide if it's something worth seeing."

Emily doubted her mother had any actual interest in seeing the movie. It really wasn't to her taste. She had probably just googled it, and was waiting for them to slip up on some detail that would prove her suspicions that they hadn't spent much time actually watching the movie.

"Oh, I definitely recommend it. It seems kind of cliché at the beginning, but there are some plot twists towards the end that totally make it worth it.""

"Plot twists? The spoilers hinted at something, but I skimmed over that part, I didn't want to ruin anything."

Emily called shenanigans. Silently, at least. Her mom had most likely read a detailed review.

"Yeah, it's pretty big. And knowing will spoil the whole movie. Don't look into it anymore. Just, go watch it."

"I might just do that," her mom said, nodding. Apparently satisfied that the two of them hadn't been up to anything untoward. "Thanks, Paige. I'll leave you two to say goodnight."

She turned and made her way out of the room, leaving the two of them alone in relative privacy.

Emily didn't want Paige to go, but she reluctantly accepted that she had to, and gave her another kiss.

"Call me, when you can?"

"Every spare minute." And with that promise, Paige took her leave.
