Chapter eighteen ~ Powers.
It was eight in the morning when Paige orbed herself into the manor on the seat next to Billie, over the last couple of weeks at first Paige appearing out of nowhere scared her but now she had become so used to this happening it was almost a comfort to her. She barely bated an eyelid to Paige's appearance whereas before she would jump a mile in her seat.
Piper turned from the stove to place the pancakes she had been cooking for breakfast down on the table and did a double take at first. It wasn't that she was not used to having Paige orb in suddenly, it was the fact that Billie seemed fine with it that surprised her.
"I take it you'll be needing a plate?" Piper asked while moving to the cupboard to retrieve a plate then placing it in front of Paige who was already using a fork to pick up some pancakes.
"Henry had to leave for work early." Paige offered in explanation to her breakfast stealing.
"Uh huh. Makes sense. We all know you're not the best cook missy Paige." Piper said taking a seat herself. She picked up a fork and placed a few pancakes on to Billie's plate before sorting her own noticing the blonde had yet to help herself.
After two weeks of living back at the manor with Piper, Leo and the boys it was one of the things the blonde was still nervous about.
One of the many.
She was afraid to eat unless someone told her she could. She was constantly jumpy, and was not at all comfortable around male company. She would barely speak, it seemed only Paige could get her to talk and then it was minimal amounts.
Billie watched Piper as she placed a few pancakes on the plate in front of her carefully. She knew Piper wouldn't hurt her but she was still having trouble trusting, four months in that cave had really messed with her mind, anything and everything was an excuse for a beating down there and she was having a hard time getting that out of her head. She felt like she was constantly waiting for this lovely safe dream to end and for herself to wake up back in that cave and the more time that went by with that not happening the more nervous it made her.
At the moment to Billie Paige was her lifeline, when she looked at Paige she almost believed that this was real that she was safe. It was Paige's eyes. Those same eyes she saw in the cave that offered her safety she saw here too. It made her feel safe, it made her trust that what Paige was saying to her was truthful.
"It's okay." Piper said to Billie softly with a smile holding a fork out to her friend. She watched until Billie took the fork from her made a small cut of the pancakes in front of her and took a small bite before starting her own food.
She always made sure Billie was eating and knew it was okay to eat before starting her own food. The girl in her eyes had lost way to much weight and was unhealthily thin. She needed to eat but was barely eating. It made Piper sad to see the state her young friend was in. Afraid to eat, to talk, to be touched suddenly. They still had no idea what happened to her in that cave other than what Paige had been able to tell of the night she rescued her.
"So Piper." Paige said after scoffing her last mouthful and beginning to fill her plate with more pancakes. "Where are Leo and the boys?"
"Dad came to pick the boys up a while ago he's taking them to Zoo, he wanted to get an early start to the day with them, and Leo's been summoned by the Elders for some reason." Piper said rolling her eyes as Paige started to eat her way through another five pancakes. There goes Leo's breakfast, she thought to herself.
"Ah so just us girls today then." Paige said winking at Billie who was still slowly eating through her pancakes.
Blue and white orbs appeared in the room as Leo suddenly orbed in causing Billie to drop her fork on her plate and jump moving closer to Paige who gently wrapped an arm around her charge.
"It's okay, it's just Leo." Paige said gently to her friend rubbing her hand gently up and down her arm. Paige hated seeing her friend nervous and afraid.
Piper smiled gently at the blonde while picking her fork back up and handing it her hoping she would start eating what was left of her food again. This was to no avail though as Billie was now just simply holding the fork while watching Leo nervously. Sighing Piper turned her attention back to Leo.
"Sorry didn't mean to scare you guys." He said sheepishly. I really need to be more careful, he thought to himself. He could see that Billie was still afraid of him. He knew not to take it personally. It wasn't really him she was afraid of. It was the fact he was a man. Or at least that's what Paige thought and had told him.
"Piper said the Elders summoned you. Any developments?" Paige said with hope. For the last two weeks the girls had noticed that Billie seemed unable to use her powers even with coaching. They were unsure whether she was afraid or if something had happened to her in the cave making her unable to use them.
"The elders believe her powers may have been bound." Leo said. Although he was stating the obvious the girls had all thought this themselves. "If they have been bound they believe you should be able to make a potion to reverse the effects."
"How though? When we don't even know how they did it? We don't know for sure whether they bound her power or striped them." Piper said unsure.
"It's true we don't know how they did it, but I can assure you they have not stripped her powers. To strip a witch of her powers would make her non magical meaning Paige as her white-lighter would not be able to sense her and the Elders wouldn't be able to see her magical core. Which both still can. She is defiantly still magical. Which means that either her powers have been bound like we thought, or if not it could be a –"
"- Psychological thing." Piper finished for her husband understanding what he meant. She looked to Paige who nodded also understanding.
"Okay, so let's say they bound her powers, how are we meant to unbind them without knowing what potion they used?" Paige said.
"You're the Charmed Ones. The most powerful good magic there is. You don't need to know what potion they used. Your blood in a general potion to unbind her powers should do the trick." Leo explained.
"Should have seen that one coming." Paige said rolling her eyes causing Piper to laugh.
"I'll call Phoebe and let her know." Piper said getting up from the table and leaving the room.
"And you can come help me with the potion." Paige said getting up from the table holding her hand out for Billie to take. Billie did so slowly she was still in some pain from her time in the cave and because of that was still a little slow on her feet. Paige and Leo and even the elders had not been able to fully heal her. No one knew why though, they had tried spells and potions but nothing seemed to lift whatever spell was cast over her to make some of her wounds unable to heal.
"Paige did you eat my breakfast again?" Leo asked looking at the almost all empty plates around the table. Looking at Billie's plate he saw a bit of left over pancake. "And it was pancakes. I love Piper's pancakes." He said to himself.
Later that night the girls and Leo were in the attic waiting for the unbinding potion to be finished. Billie and Paige were sat next to each other on the sofa while Leo was standing to the side of the small table with the cauldron on it as Phoebe and Piper were finishing up the potion. Piper added the last of three vials of blood to the potion causing it to make a small poof sound as smoke began to pour out of it.
"And we're done." Phoebe said giving it one more stir for good measure before pouring a small amount of the potion in a clean vial. She then walked over to the sofa and took a seat next to Billie handing her the potion with a small smile, which Billie returned.
Phoebe was glad to see Billie was less nervous around her now. When she had first been rescued it was hard for Phoebe. She just wanted to hold her friend and make her feel safe again but she couldn't. Billie was too afraid to let anyone other than Paige near her and that hurt Phoebe. She knew it was nothing personal against her. Billie had simply been through so much and she was afraid. She had found safety in Paige and had clung to it. Phoebe wouldn't have taken that from her just to make herself feel better. She was hurt she wasn't that one there at first to be her safety net but at the same time she glad that Billie had someone she trusted to be near her. With time Billie had began to trust her enough again to be close to her too not just Paige which Phoebe was happy about.
Paige laughed as she saw Billie crinkle her nose at the potion in her hand. "Yeah I don't blame ya kid, that smells vile."
"Smells better that you're cooking." Piper quipped from by the cauldron.
"Funny." Paige returned. Watching as Billie drank the potion whole in one go, pulling a disgusted face. "She doesn't pull that face when she eats my cooking." Paige said pointing to Billie.
"How do we know if it worked?" Phoebe asked completely ignoring Paige's comment.
"We see if she can use her powers now. Try moving something." Leo said the last part directed at Billie who looked nervous.
"It's okay, see that candle over there?" Phoebe said pointing to the table the cauldron was on. "Can you move it towards us?" she finished placing a hand on Billie's back for support, she could see the blonde was nervous about using her powers again.
Billie looked over to the table the candle was on and stared at it hard concentrating, before lifting her hand and creating a pulling motion towards herself causing the candle to quickly move off of the table towards them which Paige caught before it could hit them.
"Good work Billie" Piper said proudly with a large smile.
Billie looked at the candle in Paige's hand in surprise before a genuine smile broke out onto her face too. She had her powers back now.
"See. We're gunna get you back to your old self in no time." Paige said to her charge, winking at her.
"Damn it!" A robed figure shouted, slamming his hand into the wall of his underworld cave. "We gave that idiot David powers and bound that girls powers for nothing." He continued.
"Not for nothing Sir." Another figure spoke up. "We got in her head. We know her weakness."
"And they broke all we had achieved." The first figure spoke.
"We can learn from it though. We thought her relationship was strongest with the middle sister when really it was the youngest. Now we just have to break that attachment and the plan will be in motion again." The second figure said causing a ripple of laughter to erupt from the other figures in the room.
"Your right. Take out the half breed. Then we will be back on track." The first figure said before pulling down his hood to reveal his face which had an ugly scare across his left cheek up to his eye with burn marks around it.
"That girl will pay for what she did to me." He said with a growl.
