Disclaimer: I don't own any of this! Lord of the Rings and everything it contains was originally the idea of J.R.R. Tolkien. Credits for Narnia and everything associated with it go to C.S. Lewis. This was based on the video 'The king, the girl and the lion – Trailer' by Nonokun24 on YouTube. References may be seen to 'Boudica: Dreaming the Hound', the movies 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' (extended edition) and 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian' and 'Power Rangers: Mystic Force' and 'Jungle Fury' (seasons 14 and 16, if I recall correctly).
Author's note: Hey! I'm so sorry… Please, forgive me for taking so long… A paper, then exams, it all didn't help… Anyway, I'm back now :) And I'm really happy I am!
A huge thank you to everyone who kept reading, despite several months of waiting! I hope I won't have to do that to you again! And if you bothered to review: thank you in particular!
You may have noticed the rating changed to M. No, this does not mean you can't/shouldn't keep reading if you're 15 to 20 or so. I still think there are plenty of teens who can handle this, and if you kept reading this, from the sequel to this point, I don't think you're a stereotypical hormone-controlled teenager. I think most of you can just keep reading.
Why did I change the rating? Because we've moved into very dark territory. The Eastern arc of this story focuses on a country ruled by absolute evil. And I started thinking: 'What are the worst things people can do?' And in my personal opinion, that's child abuse. It's against every code of honor, most law systems I know and against nature itself. Also, I was going to put slavery into it anyway, because of 'Voyage of the Dawn Treader', but thanks to A Song of Ice and Fire (the books 'Game of Thrones' is based on), I decided to deepen it out. And I started thinking logically and trying to figure what really sick and messed up people would probably do if they were in power. This can produce shocking results.
It'll contain references to rape and child abuse, but I'll never get graphic. I try to make A Song of Ice and Fire my reference point; Game of Thrones is way too graphic in my opinion and the books are still graphic, but a lot less. So I'm remaining less graphic than A Song of Ice and Fire. I may get close, but I'll never surpass or even equal it. Sexuality and especially rape have been linked with war throughout history, so with that, and the fact we're dealing with evil itself, I think it's better not to leave it out completely. Detailing it out doesn't have to be bad, but it's just not me. I hope I'm not disappointing anyone; I'm just trying to make it a little more realistic and deeper without giving up on my original focuses.
But hearing me say a lot about things that are in the end side things (except for slavery), aside from the main themes, isn't what you guys came for, is it? It's to (finally) get on with the story. Alright, let's get to that part!
Last time, we were in Rhûn, watching Sauron's rule of the iron fist at work. You're a Shogun and you refuse to comply? Your family's in danger. One of the Shoguns who don't comply sufficiently set sail for the Lone Islands. No sooner had he left than the Darklings, Sauron's trusted ally, took over. His wife and children were captured, his Clan was overrun. What is his son, the 13-year-old Heir to the Clan, to do? What can he do? What has Fate – or the Dragon, the god he devoted his life to – in store for him?
As usual, I hope you'll enjoy!
Please read and review!
Jarw – Rhûnhirrim's fall
I see the angels,
I'll lead them to your door.
There's no escape now,
No mercy no more.
No remorse cause I still remember
The smile when you tore me apart.
You took my heart,
Deceived me right from the start.
You showed me dreams,
I wished they would turn into real.
You broke the promise and made me realize.
It was all just a lie.
Within Temptation: 'Angels'.
A Tiger's anger
Playground, school bell rings again.
Rain clouds come to play again.
Has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello.
I'm your mind giving you someone to talk to.
Evanescence: 'Hello'.
(Kandar)
Khamûl entered the Dungeon, grinning.
"I want the girl," he said light-heartedly, and he pointed at Karnak.
Kandar growled and positioned himself between his sister and the Darklings.
"I will kill you rather than let you touch her," he threatened.
Khamûl drew his katana, laughing, and challenged the boy: "If I have to go through you to get to him, then so be it."
Suddenly a red fire inflamed in the Heir's eyes. He clawed his hands and took the standard position of the Tiger technique. The Darkling Daimyo drew his own sword and the ashigaru seized for their weapons. Kandar however remained determined.
Then Karnak herself came forward and put a hand on his shoulder. "Brother…" she started, but she didn't get any further right away.
"Exactly," the boy seized his chance. "I am your brother, and in the absence of our father I am responsible for your safety."
"Please, listen to me," Karnak spoke to him softly. "We are Easterlings. We patiently tolerate suffering. We keep the fire in our blood in check, but then it burns all the hotter when we summon it. We are a people of vengeance. Let it happen. Live. Avenge."
Kandar deeply pondered his sister's words. There was some truth in it: the Great Dragon taught that revenge could restore a warrior's honor. His honor – his most valuable possession – wasn't lost.
But this was about his sister. There was no one he loved more.
Then simple Eastern logic took the upper hand. The only thing he could really do was dying in Karnak's defense. Very honorable, absolutely, but it didn't help her at all. Quite the contrary, his death would make this – already miserable – day even worse for her.
The boy nodded and stood straight again, with one last glance of disgust at the Darklings.
Now their mother interfered. She turned to Khamûl, pleading: "Please, my lord, leave my child alone. Take me. Leave my daughter alone. I'll take her place."
The Shogun of the Darklings laughed cruelly. "Don't be so impatient, your turn will come. But first your lovely daughter. I've heard from other Daimyo from other expeditions and my friends and allies it's incredible how much pain such a small body can take."
For a second Kandar lighted bright red. All present stood back, startled.
Then the moment was over, and the Heir put his hand on his sister's shoulder.
He said in a calm voice, even though Karnak knew he was boiling with anger: "I will pray the Great Dragon will make your body strong so you won't be broken, and your mind so you won't be damaged."
The girl answered: "You mustn't blame yourself for anything. This is my sacrifice. The Dragon teaches that what doesn't destroy us makes us stronger. Your fire will burn all the hotter. We'll get through this stronger. Stronger than ever."
Kandar nodded; he knew the teachings of the True Faith very well and knew his sister was right.
One more time he spoke to her: "One thing you must never forget. You're not alone. Ever. I love you. And not even the Terror can do anything to change that. You'll never be alone on the world, because you'll always be my sister."
Karnak nodded, right before the soldiers grabbed her and dragged her away. A Darkling grabbed Kandar's arm, but he broke away furiously. The man fell back, startled.
He stammered to one of his comrades: "That boy's eyes… They scare me."
"So don't look at him directly," the second warrior suggested, not exceptionally tactfully.
The first whispered: "It felt like I had to."
The Darklings left with Karnak. The wife of the Shogun put a hand on her son's shoulders and let her tears run free.
Softly she said: "Kandar, I'm so sorry. You know I love Karnak very much as well. I…"
Kandar shook off her hand. The woman knew very well her children had a special bond – something their father had always stimulated, knowing they would need each other in these hard times.
Her eldest was, like many Eastern young nobles, somewhat complicated already, and this had to be the greatest misery of his life up to now. She understood his reaction, and could only guess at what he was feeling.
Suddenly, without a clear direct occasion, Kandar spread his arms and let out a cry of grief and unbridled fury. Halfway however his cry turned into a deafening roar – the roaring of a Tiger. His body was wreathed by red flames.
Furiously the boy struck the wall. The Shogunate trembled.
And on the wall were unmistakable traces of real Tiger claws.
(Shogun of the Rhûnhirrim)
The Shifu of the renowned Dragon Academy of the Rhûnhirrim was astonished.
"Your Grace…" he stammered. "Did I imagine something?"
His Shogun shook his head. "Imagine? No… The first stone has been laid. In 12 days we will know if we can hope again."
The Shifu nodded and bowed deeply, before hurrying back to the Dragon Academy.
The Shogun softly said: "Truly, Enlightened Father, if this is really the beginning of the prophecy, then I shall assist the Chosen Ones in preparing for your arrival."
(Jarw - Tao)
"Admiral!"
Targutai pointed at the East. The Admiral of the Eastern Fleet hurried for the stern, followed – and preceded – by marines and sailors.
"What do you think it is?" asked the Captain, shocked.
Grimly answered the Admiral: "I don't know. And we can't find out."
A sailor asked: "Your orders, Admiral?"
The father of the girl who was being raped at almost that exact moment answered against his will: "Unaltered. Straight west."
"Aye, aye, milord!" the sailor called.
He passed the order: "Steersman! Steady as she goes!"
The ship made even more speed and the rest of the Fleet now set all sails.
Without knowing his son was causing it, the Admiral turned away from the tube of red light from his house to the skies.
Author's note: There. Pretty though deal, and a turning point in Kandar's life; I don't think that was a spoiler. I hope I did well; let me know if I did!
Next time on 'The King, the Girl and the Lion: With a Vengeance': The obvious question is: what was the glowing about? Undoubtedly some form of magic. Is the young Heir possessed? Has he unlocked hidden powers inside himself? Has magic been bestowed upon him? And if he has powers, what is he going to do with them?
Now, if you want to read a story which probably only resembles mine in quality – at least, I've been told I'm not bad – I can strongly recommend 'YuGiOh: European Duel Academy' by Supreme Arcanite Magician on this site. And if you'd prefer to see videos about this story, or rather, about the prequel, Nonokun24 and EdwardElricGirl200 made some excellent ones.
